4740s Win 8 resolution 1024x768 and unable to raise

Question

Hello,
for a first time a meet something like this.
notebook worked ok for 1,5year and since couple of weeks I struggle with something strange,
Only one resolution which is possible to set - 1024x768, tried new drivers, monitor is recognized as flatpanel 1024x768, tried to change to plug&play monitor, tried to unistall monitor device, uinstall graphics card devices, eventually stepped up to Windows 8.1, updated BIOS, and no result....
possible hardware malfunction  ? does not looks like...
any idea ?

Hi,
Thank you for posting the question. As I understand, you are facing issues with backup. I understand that it must be frustrating, but rest assured, we are here to help fix the issue and guide you in the right direction.
I would suggest you to perform check disk on the computer:
a.     Press Windows key + Q to search Settings.
b.    Type “CMD”.
c.     From the results, right click Command Prompt and Click Run as Administrator.
d.    At the Command Prompt, type “chkdsk /r /f” without quotes and press Enter.
When you restart the computer, it will be scanned for errors and attempts will be made to correct them.
Note: While performing chkdsk on the hard drive if any bad sectors are found, it tries to repair that sector and if any data available on that might be lost.
