The main symptom seems to be the disk corrupting and
becoming unmounted. Could be dodgy sectors or
something like that. It doesn't appear to be all 5.5
Gen iPods so its probably a duff batch of discs.
This was partly confirmed when i tried to erase my
disc. I thought if i gave it a good reformatting it
might mark any dodgy sectors as being bad. it
actually got about an 8th of the way through the
disc rebooted, and now it refuses to load. So, back
to apple for a second time.
Mine was ordered around the 20th Sept. I am from the
Uk. How about everyone else?
Has anyone tried blogging about -48 and submitting it
to Digg, /. or any mac news sites?

All things are possible, it might be a dodgy batch of hardware. However, several of us have found that the following workarounds work:
- format the iPod as FAT32
- change the Mac locale to US rather than UK
Both of these suggest something to do with the firmware rather than the hardware. All the affected users are connecting to Macs, if it was iPod hardware, it would affect Windows users too.

Sim error MM#3 (If it isn't the sim, could it be hardware related?) - Z30

So yesterday I get off a phone call and I get kicked off the mobile network. I look in settings and it is shifting from Bell then to Rogers (I'm on Telus) with sim MM#3 error.
I called support, and they told me everything is fine on their end. So I tried a restart and it fixed the problem. But today, I had the same MM#3 message after ending a call. Another restart and it's fine. I called Telus again and this time they said remove the sim and put it back in. Did that.
The phone is working still, but if it happens again I'm not sure what to do. Obviously I'd get another SIM, but I'm also curious it it could be hardware related? I've had the Z30 since November 2013 and I've never had this issue before.
Any thoughts? Is there any way to run a diagnostic on the phone itself to test for hardware issues?

I would also recommend a new SIM card. I haven't seen this issue with other #Z30 devices.

One small hurdle is that device driver writing often requires very specific machine instructions that are not directly available to any high level language. IN, OUT, LOCK (lock memory bus), VERR (Verify for Reading), RDMSR (Read Model-Specific Registers), move from/to memory without going through the MMU address mapping, ... (those are from x86, there are a few dozen of them.)
In C, you'd write assembler glue. In Java, you'd write assembler glue and call it through JNI.
So if you modify the question: "is Java + JNI suitable", the answer changes a bit. Still, threading and garbage collection are issues: often you can't have anything else happening in the computer when you are talking to a hardware device; it's often timing-dependent and any other parallel bus access migh throw the bus protocol off.
Depends on the hardware, the operating system, and the Java (real-time Java may be required). Be prepared to write the lowest levels of communication in assembly; there is no other language for those bits.
Would you consider controlling Lego Mindstorms hardware related? The low level bits are operating system services in C/C++/assembly, and the high level is Java.

The batterys the ipods come with are very sensetive somtimes they dont react right to the first couple of charges. Try fully charging it and then leaving it on until its completely drained a few times. If that doesnt work it might be a lemon.

You can only arrange that with the shipper after your package is shipped (and before it is deliverd.) When the package is shipped Apple usually emails the tracking information.

There are a LOT of artists missing from ITUNES. Some seminal albums. For example I wanted to download Ian Dury and the Blockheads (amongst many other artists) but ITUNES does not have a single track by him. Is this because ITUNES is particularly American in their outlook? or some other reason? How do you ask them to make certain artists and albums available for download?

You need to be aware that often the reason any given artist isn't represented on the iTunes Music Store is that the artist or their record company won't license Apple to resell their tracks. This often happens with a deceased artist; the rights are sown up in estates.
So by all means submit your request, but don't be surprised if nothing happens; often there's nothing Apple can do. In the case of The Blockheads, you might want to contact them directly and ask them to get their CDs onto the iTMS.

I don't know your exact requirement and Why you are making Lov programtically. It's quite tough for new bie.
What I can advise you that Create a New Lov in Jdev [Only Lov] and attach this Lov to any page with the help of personalization.
