49 Service Error - Turn Off then On - LaserJet Pro 200 M276nw

I was adding to another post for a different printer but didn't want anyone with MY printer to MISS this problem.
***UPDATE*** (at least for my LaserJet Pro 200 M276nw)
I have found the root cause but will need further assistance from someone at HP to "solve" this one....
My new M276nw keeps throwing a 49 Service Error, chat support yielded alot of power off, power on, wait, try again blah blah blah, fuser problems blah blah. 10 minutes of forum searching put me onto possible wireless networking issues with other printers and SSID's. Anyway after returning one printer to Staples and having the problem come up again on a another brand new one....Tried Forum searching & Tada! at least I got to find a root cause.
I have a D-Link DIR-825 wireless router. It has dual band (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz).
Normally I have both enabled for the myriad of devices that people have these days in my home.
I updated the firmware to the latest update (20121026) then restarted.
Received the 49 Service Error shortly after restart.
Then I disabled both bands to test each wireless band independently.
The printer acted normally so I decided to enable each band seperately.
When I enable the 2.4 GHz band in the router, the printer immediately throws a 49 Service Error.
I tested this several times (5 to be exact) and each time during the router reboot the printer indicated the error.
So I left the 2.4 GHz band disabled and went on to the 5 GHz band.
I enabled the 5 GHz band 3 times and disabled it and found no effect on the printer (at least within a 5 minute window).
So now I'm left with only a single band wireless router or a printer that likes to restart itself every 20 minutes or so.
There is probably a setting (or 2) that can be tweaked in either the router or the printer that can prevent this (I hope).
I just need to find the right HP person............
This question was solved.
View Solution.

I really wish I could help but I am afraid this is a bit beyond my level of comprehension.  What I took from this was, you have to turn off the duel band feature to get the printer to work without that error message, correct?  The User Guide may help you but when I tried to read it my mind was blown away by just how many settings could be adjusted to fit your needs.  No need to do anything troulbeshooting-wise just yet.  All I need for you to do is look at page 137 on how to set sleep delay and auto power down functions and page 132 for link and duplex settings and let me know if you think it could be something to do with these.
As far as a setting within the router, I do not know.  I did find another user guide with very technical information in it. The Software Technical Reference hinted to bi-directional printing which basically turns off or on the print spooler if the printer was so big it was using up network resources but I am not sure of that at all (see Page 59 for an example). Page 89 and on is a brief introduction to the embedded web server but really these are just definitions, nothing new to report there.
This website hints that it may be a firmware error. Lastly, the only other thing I can offer as you have probably seen it yourself is another HP forum thread regarding your exact error.  I know I won't be of much assistance but some hopefully is better than none. I'm just glad it works partially.  Let me know if I can answer any questions for you but this is just a step out of my league. Good luck!

  • HP laserjet pro 200 m276nw scanning issue

i just got my hp laserjet pro 200 m276nw and i was just plug in the power card and was printing from flash drive and scanning to flash drive for about 2 weeks  . it work fine ,until yesterday i tried scanning to my flash drive and the result on the scans was color lines from top to buttom of the page.

    Hi,
Try turning the printer off and on again, then check for any difference.
If the same persists, ensure the printer directly connected to a wall outlet and not through any power hub, extension or power strips, then try scanning again and check for any difference.
If the same persists, update the firmware of the printer and check for any change:
    1. Plug the printer to a computer using a USB cable.
    2. Run and follow the tool below, be sure to select the printer configured by the USB (e.g. Copy 1 if the printer was originally insalled throug the network):

  • Hp laserjet Pro 200 M276nw won't consistently connect wirelessly with iMac

I'm on my second brand new hp laserjet Pro 200 M276nw in 3 days, it will not consistently connect wirelessly with my newly purchased (8days old) Apple refurbished 27" iMac on OSX 10.9, i7 chip & Fusion Drive.  The hp laserjet will sometimes connect wirelessly immediately after clicking "print" on the iMac, but about half the time it says "printer not connected" & takes 2-4 minutes (or longer) before the devices do connect. I've called hp support many times, they're reset various things via remote takeover of my iMac, the printer will work for a few of minutes but then the same problem returns. AppleCare made sure I have the
correct Airprint driver installed & also checked my settings, but says they don't know why this is occurring. I've also verified that our newer (6 months old) AT&T router is functioning correctly.
My older hp laserjet (CM1312nfi MFP) has worked flawlessly since 2009 via USB connection with my old iMac (still on Snow Leopard), I assumed it would continue with the new one, but there is no software update for Mavericks & the scanning feature won't operate on the new iMac. Hp says it is a discontinued model. The new hp laserjet is a successor model to the older one, they are both very similar except for the new wireless feature.
I can print fast & wirelessly from the new iMac via a different new hp inkjet printer (8600 series) here in the house. This inkjet printer is less than a month old, I installed it myself for a Windows laptop here, it has never malfunctioned.  Unfortunately it's upstairs & I do not like inkjet print quality, I need a good laserjet here in my office downstairs next to my iMac.

    HI there
Did you manage to sort this issue out - as I have exactly the same problem.
Lots of similarities as I also have an inkjet 8600 which works via USB and wirelessly no problems at all!
I always  buy HP printers as they are usually easy to set up - but this one is making me tear my hair out!
I've even upgraded to Yosemite and downloaded the new drivers from HP - no success.  The printer will print one page and then become unavailable.
I can print via USB or wireless direct - but not just via my wireless network which is what I want to do!
No responses posted - so assume no one has a fix.
    aaaargh!!!

  • HP LaserJet Pro 200 M276nw - Scan to Computer problems

So I've got an HP LaserJet Pro 200 M276nw. Have trouble activating the scan to computer option. Here's my setup:
One desktop computer and three laptops are connected to a local network. The desktop pc is wired to the network, all three laptops are connected wirelessly. The HP machine is wirelessly connected to the same network and also connected via USB to the destop pc. When I try the "scan to computer" option, I get the message that I should activate this function on the computer. Well, there's simply no such option. Here's a screenshot:
I also looked in the bin directory of the printer software but found nothing that looks like scan to computer:
So what am I doing wrong? Please help! Hope to hear from a member of the HP staff.
There's also something else - I can't seem to get the scan to network folder function working. I've specified a network folder, it has been shared with everyone (read/write access), all computers on the network have acces to it, but the printer fails to access it. The test in the HP device toolbox is also unsuccessful. What is the problem here?
    Thanks!

  • LaserJet Pro 200 M276nw Scan to Computer

I have just taken delivery of my new HP LaserJet Pro 200 MFP M276nw.  The printer software is installed on the computer.  All set up and working fine except for the printer's "Scan to Computer".  I am using Windows 7.  On the printer's Scan Menu there are four options: Scan to USB; Scan to Network Folder; Scan to Email; Scan to Computer.  The first three work perfectly.  the "Scan to Computer" gives the error message "no computer found".  The instruction to resolve the issue is to ensure that the HP Printer software is installed on the computer (it is) and that "Scan to Computer" is enabled.  There is no "Scan to Computer" listed in the software so it cannot be enabled.
I know I can scan from the computer but (i) I would like to use the "Scan to Computer" feature that shows in the printer screen menu.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  • Web Services spontaneous turning off on Color LaserJet CM4540 MFP

We are using ePrint on four seperate Color LaserJet CM4540 Multifunction printers in a business environment where we elected to activate ePrint in order to allow wireless printing for our iPhone and iPad users. We were able to set it up and get it working, and for the most part it works great! Users testing the functionality are using the HP ePrint for Home and Biz app and so far they've reported no loss of formatting for the documents they are printing - but there is one problem:
So far two of the printers have dropped (turned off) Web Services for no apparent reason.
Administrative functioning on the machines is password protected so it isn't possible for one of the clients to just come in and turn off Webservices. Only IT team members have the access password. I don't believe that any of us are turning off web services, so the impression is that they are spontaneously deactivating.
Two other bits of relevant information:
    1) I am able to easily re-activate web services and assign a new eprint email address to the printer...
    2)  I'm not able to reassign the first eprint email address to the printer because the HP ePrint website automatically places lost/disgarded email addresses on hold for 6 months to reduce the chance of people mistakenly sending documents to someone else's printer.
Therein lies the crux of the problem: because we are in a business user environment, every time I have to assign a new email address to the printer, I'm forced to update the documentation for the end users reflecting the addresses of the printers, and to inform the users who are already using the service of the new address.
I need to figure out a way to either 1) prevent the web service from shutting down, or 2) retain the same email address in the event that it does shut down, or both.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi Sumiko, With pleasure
Frankly, i am not familier with the secondary DHCP structure of the device as i am more focused on consumer products, however the logic still remains the same... As long as DHCP can be maintaned, i cannot see any reason why the static IP will fail as the connectivity remain the same, therefore i would recommend you to disable the secondary DHCP in order to avoid any firewall blocks after forwarding the ports.
The port forwarding should be assigned from the router or the server, depanding on your network structure.
If you are using a more complex network envoirnment by using any server, VPN, switch, etc. you will need to contact your IT administrator to configure the port forwarding
However if you are using a simpler network , please let me know the router model, i will gladly try to assist you locating the steps for your envoirnment.
    Regards,
    Shlomi

  • A fatal error occurred preventing product use, LaserJet Pro 200 color MFP M276nw

  • HP Laserjet Pro 200 M276nw network problem

Hi all, I own a M276nw MFP printer since few days, and I'm unable to use the installed app flawlessly. The printer is connected to a wired LAN with 192.168.128.x address range. There's a router with 192.168.128.26 that gives internet access. All clients on the network (and the printer too) are configured as :
    IP (DHCP or static): 192.168.128.x
    255.255.255.0
    GW 192.168.128.26
    DNS 192.168.128.26
Actually the printer works correctly and is pingeable from the network (I can print), but using the apps on the touch screen, sometimes the menu hangs ("connecting..." or "downloading...") then displays a message, saying unable to connect to HP Web Services, and asks for retry. Internet connectivity on my LAN works perfectly.
The printers usually works well for about 1 minutes of App browsing, then the connection stop working, even if I'm still able to print (so the LAN interface on the printer is up). I tried to replace the DNS with google (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) without success. I changed the LAN cable and port on the switch, to be sure, but nothing. Is the unit defective? Can be a Firmware problem (the printer says it's up-to-date).
    Greetings
    Andrea

Hi, let me explain my LAN setup a little more. Actually all clients, servers and printers are in a private LAN with 192.168.128.0 class. All clients are connected to a L3 switch, and can access internet via a L3 Router (A), cascaded to another L3 router (B).
    So:
    clients (workstation, printers) - (192.168.128.0)
    -> router A (192.168.128.26 -192.168.1.253)
    -> router B (192.168.1.254 - 10.0.0.x) -> internet
all clients are configured as follows (statically or dinamically)
    IP 192.168.128.x
    mask 255.255.255.0
gw 192.168.128.26 (the first router, A)
dns 192.168.128.26 (or another internal windows-based DNS)
Following your suggestions, I enabled port mapping to NAT incoming ports:
    137-138 (UDP)
    139 (TCP)
    161, 427 (TCP/UDP)
    9100, 9220, 9500 (TCP)
These port have been redirected via Router-B -> Router-A -> Printer IP (wich is static 192.168.128.201).
Ports 80 and 443 cannot be redirected to printer IP because are used for other services, hosted on a local server: these are redirected to another internal IP.
Outgoing traffic is not blocked, so I don't need to open firewall on certain ports.
    Printer's firmware is up-to-date.
The problem occurs shortly after power-up: app navigation stops working after the printer goes the first time to power-saving  mode (LCD off). On cold start, app navigation works correctly.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

  • HP Laserjet Pro 200 M276nw printer is printing problem

    Hi all,
I just purchased this new printer, set it up according to the installation instructions, all the pages are coming out with wide red splotches donw the center of every page. I've tried using the "Tools" menu to clean the printer heads and that didn't help. I tried setting the paper preference to "Plain" and that didn't help. Does anyone have any suggestions, before I bring this printer back to the store?
    Thanks. Robb.

Welcome to the HP Forums RGrowdon,
I see by your post that the new printer is printing wide red splotches down the center of every page.
I can help you with this issue.
Inspect the toner cartridge for damage:
    1. Remove the toner cartridge from the product and verify that the sealing tape has been removed.
    2. Check the memory chip for damage.
    3. Examine the surface of the imaging drum on the bottom of the toner cartridge.
CAUTION: Do not touch the roller (imaging drum) on the bottom of the cartridge.
Fingerprints on the imaging drum can cause print-quality problems.
    4. If you see any scratches, fingerprints, toner on the drum or other damage on the imaging drum, replace the toner.
    5. If the imaging drum does not appear to be damaged, rock the toner cartridge gently several times and reinstall it. Print a few pages to see if the problem has resolved.
I have provided a document for Troubleshooting Print Quality Issues.
Go through the steps to see if it will help resolve the issue.
Are these the original toners that shipped with the printer?
If the issue persists, then I would recommend to call HP Tech Support for further assistance to see what other options are available for you. Contact HP Worldwide.
    Have a nice day!

  • LaserJet Pro 200 M276nw printer connecting directly to an outlet

I received a new printer for my business because the past hp printers broke one me.  Tech support told me that I needed to connect the printer directly to an outlet and not use an extension cord or a power surge protector.here's the problem:
The designated location of my printer cannot reach an outlet and would need to require an extension cord. Can I use an extension cord from the printer to an outlet? Or is that not safe to do?
I just want to be safe and take the necessary precautions because my past printers have all broke and i don't want this one to break on me.
    Thank you

  • I have an HP Laserjet Pro 200 Color MFP Getting constant error message: service error 79

The product name listed on back of the machine is : CF145A. I keep getting an error message " 79 Service error Turn off and Back On.  I have turned it off and on several times but the error message will not go away and will not let me perform any functions.

    Hi,
Try connecting the printer to your PC with a USB, then install the latest firmware using the following tool:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=kj-108130-6&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en...
It should address a such and may resolve the described problem:
•Fixed a 79 error when printing certain documents.
If he printer stuck in such an error state, I would also suggest unplugging any cable form the printer first (such as a USB, Ethernet, Phone Cable, etc.). Then turn the printer off and turn it back on and check if the same error appear.
Also ensure the printer is directly connected to a wall socket and not through any power splitters, extensions or a surge protector and check for any difference.
