4G and Static IP

So after spending the day getting the run around... i.e. know one in customer service is close enough to the really reason static IP's are not supported on 4 G network/smart phone devices.  Maybe someone in the know , that monitors this forum can answer this question.  Why is it that Verizon is unable to support static IP address on the 4G platform, except for a single data card? If the 3 G devices support static IP addressing why the total disregard for this service.    So if the Driod Bionic supports CDMA (3G) service...  which is all that is available currently why is this service not supported?    Verizon has rolled the 4G service in many city's so I'm sure someone has an answer on this one.  thanks in advance.

What is the specific reason you need static IP for? The network is still is in its infancy and you can't just throw everything altogether and expect it to work.  Maybe working with a dynamic at first may help them initially, switch to sticky, and then later on switch to static IP.

  • Flow and Static checks

    Hi there,
    I created a datamodel and have applied a condition to it. When I execute the interface the invalid records are captured in the E$ table but all the other valid records do not appear on the target table. I couldn't able to find the reason for this. I have applied flow and static check to the condition and the same for the table column. Im not sure why the validate records are rejected.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Cheers

    HI!
    Let me understand, do you want the invalid records at target table?
    If you use the flow control it will keep the records at E$ and WILL NOT load it.
    If you use static control, it will LOAD the data and, after that, verify what are the records with problems.
    Don't use both controls at same time, it doesn't make logical sense unless when needs to validate distinct constraints at each moment.
    Does it help you?

  • MS NLB with ASA and Static NAT from PUP to NLB IP

    Hi all,
    I am trying to get MS NLB up and running.  It is almost all working.  Below is my physical setup.
    ASA 5510 > Cat 3750X >2x ESXi 5.1 Hosts > vSwitch > Windows 2012 NLB Guest VMs.
    I have two VMs runing on two different ESXi hosts.  They have two vNICs.  One for managment and one for inside puplic subnet.  The inside puplic subnet NICs are in the NLB cluster.  The inside public subnet is NATed on the ASA to a outide public IP.
    192.168.0.50 is the 1st VM
    192.168.0.51 is the 2nd VM
    192.168.0.52 is the cluster IP for heartbeat
    192.168.0.53 is the cluster IP for NLB traffic.
    0100.5e7f.0035 is the cluster MAC.
    The NLB cluster is using MULTICAST
    I have read the doumentation for both the ASA and CAT switch for adding a static ARP using the NLB IP and NLB MAC.
    For the ASA I found
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/asa/asa84/asdm64/configuration_guide/mode_fw.html#wp1226249
    ASDM
    Configuration > Device Management > Advanced > ARP > ARP Static Table
    I was able to add my stic ARP just fine.
    However, the next step was to enable ARP inspection.
    Configuration > Device Management > Advanced > ARP > ARP Inspection
    My ASDM does not list ARP Inspection, only has the ARP Static Table area. Not sure about this.
    For the CAT Switch I found
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps708/products_configuration_example09186a0080a07203.shtml
    I added the both the ARP and Static MAC.  For the static MAC I used the VLAN ID of the inside public subnet and the interfaces connected to both ESXi hosts.
    On the ASA I added a static NAT for my outside Public IP to my inside pupblic NLB IP and vise versa.  I then added a DNS entry for our domain to point to the outside public IP.  I also added it to the public servers section allowing all IP traffic testing puproses.
    At any rate the MS NLB is working ok. I can ping both the Public IP and the Inside NLB IP just fine from the outside. (I can ping the inside NLB IP becuase I'm on a VPN with access to my inside subnets)  The problem is when I go to access a webpade from my NLB servers using the DNS or the Public IP I get a "This Page Can't Be Displyed" messgae.  Now while on the VPN if I use the same URL but insied use the NLB IP and not the Public IP it works fine.
    So I think there is soemthing wrong with the NATing of the Public to NLB IP even tho I can ping it fine.  Below is my ASA Config. I have bolded the parts of Interest.

    Any help would be great! I think the issue is in teh NAT as I am able to access NLB IP from the outside and could not do that before adding the Static ARP stuff.
    Thanks,
    Chris

    Also If I change to NAT from the public IP to the NLB IP to use either one of the phsyical IPs of the NLB cluster (192.168.0.50 or 51) it works fine when using the public IP.  So it's definatly an issue when NATing the VIP of NLB cluster.

  • Dynamic PAT and Static NAT issue ASA 5515

    Hi All,
    Recently we migrated our network to ASA 5515, since we had configured nat pool overload on our existing router the users are able to translated their ip's outside. Right now my issue was when I use the existing NAT configured to our router into firewall, it seems that the translation was not successful actually I used Dynamic NAT. When I use the Dynamic PAT(Hide) all users are able to translated to the said public IP's. I know that PAT is Port address translation but when I use static nat for specific server. The Static NAT was not able to translated. Can anyone explain if there's any conflict whit PAT to Static NAT? I appriciate their response. Thanks!
    - Bhal

    Hi,
    I would have to guess that you Dynamic PAT was perhaps configured as a Section 1 rule and Static NAT configured as Section 2 rule which would mean that the Dynamic PAT rule would always override the Static NAT for the said host.
    The very basic configured for Static NAT and Default PAT I would do in the following way
    object network STATIC
    host
    nat (inside,outside) static dns
    object-group network DEFAULT-PAT-SOURCE
    network-object
    nat (inside,outside) after-auto source dynamic DEFAULT-PAT-SOURCE interface
    The Static NAT would be configured as Network Object NAT (Section 2) and the Default PAT would be configured with Twice NAT / Manual NAT (after-auto specifies it as Section 3 rule)
    This might sound confusing. Though it would be easier to say what the problem is if we saw the actual NAT configuration. Though I gave the reason that I think is probably one of the most likely reasons if there is some conflict with the 2 NAT rules
    You can also check out a NAT document I made regarding the new NAT configuration format and its operation.
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-31116
    Hope this helps

  • Abstract classes and static methods

    I have an abstract report class AbstractReportClass which I am extending in multiple report classes (one for each report, say ReportA, ReportB, ...). Each report class has its own static column definitions, title, etc., which I have to access through a static method getDataMeta() in a web application. Each report has the same exact code in getDataMeta, and no report may exist without these fields. My intuition tells me that AbstractReportClass should contain the code for getDataMeta, but I know that you can't mix abstract and static keywords.
    Am I missing a simple solution to unify the getDataMeta code in the abstract base class? or do I really need to have a static function getDataMeta with the same code in each of the base classes?
    My apologies if this has been discussed many times before.
    Thanks,
    -Andrew

    I'm not trying to be "right"; rather I just asked a question about whether I can do something that seems intuitive. Perhaps you might write code in a different way than I would or perhaps I wasn't clear about every little detail about my code? Do you regularly belittle people who ask questions here?
    I have a loadFromDB() member function in AbstractReport for which all sub classes have an overloaded version. All reports I'm displaying have 4 common fields (a database id and a name and a monetary value, for example), but then each other report has additional fields it loads from the database. Inside ReportX classes' loadFromDB(), I call the superclass loadFromDB() function and augment values to get a completely loaded object. In fact, the loadedData member object resides in AbstractReport.
    I can't use a report unless it has these common features. Every report is an AbstractReport. There is common functionality built on top of common objects. Isn't this the point of inheritance? I'm essentially saying that abstract class Shape has a getArea function and then I'm defining multiple types of Shapes (e.g. Rectangle and Circle) to work with...

  • IOS 4.2.1: Intermittent Playback and Static Issue Resolution - JVC KD-AVX77

    Hey guys, it appears that iOS 4.2.1 fixes the issue with the intermittent playback and static issues that I was having in my car. I just played two songs continuously with no issues.
    I have the JVC KD-AVX77, and with iOS 4.1, I was having nothing but problems with music playback. It had got to the point that it was intolerable to use my iPhone in my car.
    I am extremely pleased that it seems like Apple took everyone's feedback about this issue, and came up with a fix to it. Too bad that I've already stored my car for the winter.
    Please post your own findings. I know this issue was across multiple head units and car manufacturers.

    Same problem here. I have a 3gs and this intermitent static/hiss/lag happens when i connect through the usb on my toyota prius. This problem did not happen before the latest software upgrade. I have switched out the cables. Also tested on an ipod touch without the software upgrade and had no problem. It's a crazy annoying problem! Sounds a bit like listening to vinyl. I have also tried switching to airplane mode, but that didn't do anything. I have also reset the iphone while connected to the usb (the same way i frequently have to because of an earlier problem i've had with the usb failing to work in the car at all...) and that has not fixed it. I'm going to try connecting via bluetooth today and see what happens - i'm guessing that will be fine, but i don't like to listen via bluetooth.

  • Problem with access specifier and static???

    I've a question. I saw a code written for Sun's Java Tutorial. The program had three class methods and all of them start like this:
    static public void methodName1{
    static public void methodName2{
    and
    static public void main(String[] args){
    My question is why the keyword static was used first? Why not access specifier? I mean what's the reason behind it? Is there any difference between them?
    Thanks in advance.
    --DM

    The order doesn't matter. The programmer thought it was a good idea for some reason. I might be tempted to do it if I had static and instance methods with the same name or something like that.
    public static void myMethod() {
    public void myMethod() {
    or
    static public void myMethod() {
    public void myMethod() {

  • [weblogic 8.1-sp4] EAR and statics placement

    stupid question maybe, but i haven't found any clue.
    i have an EAR with some WARs and static stuff packed at the root of the EAR like "images/foo.gif", "styles/bar.css" etc. in our JSPs inside the WARs we use JSTL core "url" tag to resolve these links like <img src="<core:url value="/images/foo.gif"/>"> or <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="<core:url value="/styles/bar.css"/>">. all the stuff was in a single WAR before, but now when i've moved the statics away to the root of our EAR all such links are apparently broken.
    so the first question is how do i refer to statics placed at the EAR root from JSPs inside WARs (possibly without changing all thousands of pages that we have)?
    and the second is why none of the resources are accessible from browser using "http://localhost:7001/images/foo.gif" or "http://localhost:7001/styles/bar.css", which always give 404? could it be due to security constraints?

    I meant exactly what I said. You have to figure out the best way to implement that. If it's most effective to merge the WARS, then do that. There are other possibilities. You could deploy the shared content on a content delivery network (a fancy term for a separate fast server farm) and have your separate WARs reference them with external URLs to the CDN.
    Concerning the "why" question, I would just say "because". WebLogic is an implementation of the JEE specification. They've added extensions, but nothing that directly addresses your issue.

  • Instance initializer and static initializer blocks

    Hi guys,
    I read about the above mentioned in the JLS and also in a book before, but I still don't quite understand, what is the use of these. I sort of have a rough idea, but not exactly. I mean, what is the purpose of the instance initializer and static initializer blocks, how can it be useful? I understand I can execute pieces of code that will initialize instance and static variables accordingly, but how is it different then to using a constructor to initialize these fields? Are these pieces of code executed before any constructor is executed, or when otherwise?
    Sorry for my noob, I'm learning.
    PR.

    Static initializers are useful for initializing a class when the initialization is more complex than simply setting a single variable, or when that initialization can throw a checked exception.
    public class Foo {
      private static final Bar bar;
      static {
        try {
          bar = new Bar();
          bar.doSomeInitializationStuff();
        catch (SomeCheckedExceptionThatBarThrows e) {
          throw new ExceptionInInitializerError(e);
    }Here we could not do the two-step new Bar() + doSomeInit() stuff in the line where we declare the bar variable. Additionally, assuming that one or both of those can throw a checked exception, we could not do that on the declaration line; we need the static initializer to wrap that in the appropriate unchecked exception.
    This allows us to do more complex class initialization when the class is loaded than we could do with a simple variable initialization.
    Instance initializers are useful if you want to perform the same steps in every constructor and don't want to have to repeat the code in each constructor. Instance initializers are executed as the first step of each constructor (or maybe it's after any super() calls, I forget).

  • Dynamic file request to appserver and static file request to webserver

    Can we redirect dynamic file request to appserver and static file request to webserver in any application and
    what are the best way to do it ?
    Waiting for the best suggestions ?

    when you have a large number of images/css/javascript/static(html/pdf/doc) files. It takes some of the processing load from your app server and also reduces the network traffic (otherwise traffic must flow between webserver and weblogic as well). it is also reasonably trivial to configure cache/modification/etags headers from a webserver and they are probably more featured than a weblogic server (e.g. to turn on gzip for static files dynamic is just a setting in the webserver but probably needs a custom filter developed in weblogic).
    Again this applies if you already have a webserver (normally because your firewall policy dictates this approach). If you are considering whether to have a webserver at all then there are different considerations.

  • Elitebook 2540p: Faint sound and static coming from speakers...Need Help!

    I am having issues with my new 2540P. I can hear faint sound and static coming from my speakers as well as my headphones when I plug into the jack.  I first started having this issue when I plugged additional speakers into the jack and USB while talking on Skype..
    I am running Win7. I tried troubleshooting drivers and hardware, disabling and enabling, and a system restore going back one day...but no luck. When I disable the speakers, I stopped hearing even the faint sound. I also tried plugging and unplugging the jack 20 times.
    Is it possible that this is a hardware failure (jack and/or sound card)?
    Does anyone have other suggestions?

    I am running XP and have same problem.  Sound now gone after "pop".  Customer services suggests hardware failure and send back to factory.  Flashing BIOS and updating IDT audio driver will not fix the problem.
    Possible speaker failure or audio chip failure.

  • Popping and static problem

    I am getting popping and static when any audio plays on my G4.
    Here are the things that I have tried:
    1) reset the NVRAM in Open Firmware
    2) zeroed the HD an installed fresh OS
    3) installed OS on second internal drive and booted from that drive
    4) ran TechTool Pro tests and everything passed
    The only other thing that I can think of (which I probably should have done earlier) is to disconnect and reconnect the cables on all of the drives. Any other suggestions will be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Nathan

    Tom,
    Tried your suggestion with the speaker cable as well as the drive cables - no joy. I may have found the culprit. I unplugged the power chord for about 30 minutes or so before I opened up the unit. When I restarted, I got a message that the date was set to an earlier date or something to that effect. I read earlier today on Texas Mac Man's site that this indicates that the battery is bad.
    Could this be the problem? Can I start up the computer with the battery out to check if this is causing the static?
    Thanks,
    Nathan

  • IPhone 6 Blue Screen and Static noise?

    So basically, here's the gist. I recently (not really recently, around October/November 2014) got an iPhone 6. I had gone straight from the 4 to the 6 so I haven't adjusted to it not being able to fit in my back pocket like my 4 did, resulting in it falling out of my pocket and landing on concrete, cracking a lot of the screen. Now, I'm fine with cracks so long as it only messes with the appearance of my phone. Meaning if it functions normally I see no need in getting it fixed. It functioned perfectly fine the following months until maybe mid-Decemberish where this happened for the first time. I was on Instagram trying to view a video. The "buffering video" symbol disappeared from the upper right hand corner signaling the video had started but I was still staring at the same thumbnail image. Thinking maybe it was a rip off video I decided to try and view another video. The same thing happened. As well as another time with one of my own videos. So this third time it happened the video began to play but then froze, but no pause or stop button appeared as usual. Instead my phone went to a blue screen, and static was heard coming from the speakers very faintly. It then went black and rebooted, taking me to the home screen. I looked into this issue and was told it was probably just a software problem and wouldn't happen again. Since then I have been experiencing bugs such as my screen lagging or simply not responsing to my touch, apps crashing the moment I open them, and my camera acting up, but it never went blue, though Instagram videos still refused to play. Until just now. Once again I was attempting to watch an Instagram videa that started to play but stopped mid-video and the screen went blue again with the same static then back to black and proceeded to reboot. By now I've decided to seek professional help which led me here to this forum. Any help? Thank you.

    Today was second time I got my phone back without Apple Premium Service Provider found anything wrong. I get "blue screen of death" all the time. I have even tried to create a new Apple id but I got the "blue screen of death" directly when i tried to install any apps.
    I now have an expensive worthless iPhone 6 that I can't use and Apple says it's nothing wrong with that. I'm going to throw this piece of **** in the garbage and buy a Samsung instead because I need a phone that works and that I can rely on.
    Thanks for nothing,

  • Overclock past 3315Mhz and static comes out speakers

    i overclocked my processor to 3406Mhz, i new it could go that speed because i had done it before, but i was listening to music at the same time. when it got to 3406Mhz the music stoped and static replaced it.
     i quickly set it to it's orignial speed. i then slowly increased to the speed, with the music playing, and found out that this only happened when it got passed 3315Mhz.
    i tried overclocking the CPU first at 3406Mhz then clicked play but instead of static comming out my speakers my computer reset itself
    can anyone suggest why it does this and tell me how to solve it.
    thanks

    Possibly the CPU - at those settings it becomes sensitive to EMI (Electro-Magnetic Interference). I know that when I have another energy source going as I'm bumping my 64 on the up - i.e., home stereo cranking, I have difficulties maintaining or reaching previously attainable settings.

  • Singleton pattern class and static class

    Hi,
    what is difference between the singleton pattern class and static class ?
    in singleton pattern, we declare a static member[which hold one value at a time] ,static method[ which return static member value] and a private constructor[not allow to direct instantiation]. My words are -- as a singleton pattern we implement static class .
    so can we say a singleton pattern is static class it means both are same or is any difference between these two ??

    malcolmmc wrote:
    On several occasions I've had to convert a static (never instanceated) class to a singleton type, for example because I realise I need an instance per thread, or I decide to make a program more modular, with more than one configuration.
    I've never done the opposite.
    So generally I favour the singleton if there any "state" involved, because it's more flexible in unanticipated directions. It also gives extra flexibility when building tests, especially if you program to an interface.Total agreement; if anything it is dead hard to override static method logic with mock code in unit tests (I had to do it by keeping the static methods in place but making them internally use a singleton instance of itself of which the instance variable could be overwritten with a mock implementation for unit testing purposes...).
    'Static classes' and/or methods are great for very simple util functions, but I wouldn't use them for anything other than that.

  • Dynamic release strategy and static release strategy

    Hi,
    What is the difference between dynamic release strategy and static release strategy.
    What the customization setting required to activate dymanic and static release strategy.
    Thank you
    REgards,
    Yshu

    Dear Yshu,
    What do you mean by dynamic and static release strategy. In SAP, we don'y have this term.
    Please kindly give more explanation so we can help you.
    We only have with classification and without classification.
    Normally, release strategy without classification is used in R/2, and out of support in
    R/3. However the functionality still available in case you want to use it.
    You can not use Release without classification and Release with classification.
    If there is an entry present in Release Group table (T16FG-FRGOT), only release with
    classification can be used.
    If you are in R/3, then forget the release strategy without classification but just
    use the release strategy with classification as it had more flexibility than the old
    system design.
    Thanks
    Ian
