4g ipod touch screen selects random items after 6.1.6 update

HELP!! Immediately after updating 4g ipod to 6.1.6- if i hold my finger on screen like you would to delete an app or to slide a list-- it randomly selects objects. So basically if my finger stays on the screen for longer than i millisecond to move object or something, random objects are selected. And the things selected are never in same area of screen. Example: So if i was to hold my finger on a letter on the keyboard to access a special character: the typing line would be something like "cc tskh   js" then it might hit enter then clear. So basically as long as a hold my finger on the screen it will just randomly do things. Hope that makes sense.

Make sure the screen is clean with no screen protector.
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • IPod Touch Self Selects Menu Items Without Touching Screen - 2nd Gen

With my iPod Touch sitting flat and motionless on a desk, without even touching it, menu items on the screen are self selecting, as if a ghost were touching the screen and selecting the item. It happens on the lower left portion of the screen on whatever screen is currently displayed. It will continue to select whatever item is in that area of the screen, advancing, or going back, until nothing is in that area of the screen to be selected. This "self Selection" happens at various times, from 1 second to a minute, from when the screen is displayed. Usually at about 5-10 second intervals, but it varies.
Here is what I have done thus far in attempts to "fix" the problem. None of them have worked and the problem still remains.
    - Restored the iPod from within iTunes (twice)
    - Complete Reset/Erase of the Touch on the unit itself (twice)
    - Ensured the battery was fully charged
    - Synced it with two entirely separate iTunes Libraries on 2 different computers
    - Cleaned the screen VERY well to ensure that no film or residue was on it (it is squeaky clean)
    - Slightly tried to flexed (very gently) the Touch to see if it would change this from happening
    - The shake feature is not the issue (turned off and not touching the iPod Touch)
    - Searched the web pretty thoroughly for answers
    Any thoughts...?

    You have the "Halloween Syndrome!!"
Good news though, it should clear up when Halloween is over with.
Seriously, it sounds like your screen digitizer needs replacing. Contact a third-party repair service. It will be cheaper to fix that going through Apple.

  • Ipod touch 3rd gen keeps crashing after 4.2.1 update

so I downloaded the new iOS 4.2.1 update and ever since then my ipod touch 3rd generation (which is a refurb by the way) kept crashing -- didn't matter what app it was on (even on some of the programmed in apps), it would just crash and go back to the home screen. and whenever I'd be scrolling through any list, it would freeze up and take a second or two to scroll. it also would just randomly stop playing music, even if it was disconnected from the computer. it's been a severe pain in the butt and VERY frustrating!! i talked to several friends and they said it wasn't just me, the same thing had been happening to them. just wondering if anyone had found a cure yet?

Try letting your iPod run to flat battery (where it turns its self off) and then charge it fully without playing with it for that time
you may have to repeat this 2-4 times

  • My ipod touch 4g screen cracked and is making random touch screen selections?

i have a jailbroken ipod touch 4g and I dropped it on the ground yeesterday, now it is making random touch screen selections; the upper part of the screen will not recognize any touches at all. please help

look, just because you like apple and they hate jailbreakers doesnt mean that the answer to every problem is "go buy a new one, go buy a new one" some people come on this site for help.
I really don't care what anyone does with their Apple stuff. It's theirs to do with as they please, including jailbreaking or smashing them with a brick. It makes no difference to me, or their iPods for that matter.
In either case the answer is the same: "Go buy a new one".

After being connected to a charging source overnight try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

  • Mi iPod touch screen flickers constantly after iOS6 update

I have an iPod Touch 4th Gen and I recently downloaded the iOS6 update and tried to install it but after 12 hours of the black screen with the Apple logo and progress bar, I decided to just restore it because no progress seemed to have been made. After restoring it from my last back up which was earlier that day, it looked as if things were working fine but as soon as I unlocked my iPod, the screen started flickering rapidly between the normal screen and the updating screen that I was stuck with for 12 hours until it just took over completely and all I could see was the update screen. I tried pressing the home button and the lock button but it seemed to just be frozen. From what I could seen from the normal screen in the background, there was a message telling me that the update was complete.
After a while of no progress, I attempted to restore it several times in hopes of it working smoothly but it always ended up the same as before. I was thinking of just restoring it to default settings because the only thing that I really need are my few thousands of notes that I've kept over the past years because everything else has been stored on my computer and so thinking that they were backed up on iCloud, I logged into iCloud and saw that only a few were transferred.
Are there any suggestions as to what I could try?

  • My ipod touch screen is broken and whenever i press the lock screen button, the screen is white, what can i do to fix this?

so my ipod touch screen is broken, and whenver i try to unlock the ipod screen, all that i can see is the top right hand corner of my ipod, and the rest is all whited out. Also, the jack which support the headphones to stay in place, one of the balls in the jack is pushed in which causes the headphones and stereo jack to slip all the time. I also have a problem which is when i try to sync my ipod to itunes. Last time i did it(which was 4 years ago), i synced my ipod and i started out with 225 songs, after the syncing process was complete, i ended up with 119 songs. I'm afraid to resync my ipod or back up my ipod to a computer because i dont want to lose the wonderful collection of 589 songs i have now. I'd really appreciate it if i got some feedback. Thanks.

  • My iPod touch screen went fuzzy with pink and white stripes

Hello! I really appreciate if anyone would tell me what's wrong with my iPod touch.
I have been using my iPod touch for less than a year, and honestly, I have quite a bad habit: I always use it for playing games. And sometimes, I even use it while it is charging. Usually it's fine, nothing went wrong, so I keep doing the same thing sometimes.
one day, I'm visiting my relative and tried to charge my iPod. Since my iPod doesn't have an adaptor, I usually charge it using my laptop (the seller told me to charge it in a laptop/computer). One day, I borrowed my cousin's laptop to charge my iPod, but she only gave me an adaptor (not made for iPod or any apple products, but it fits so I thought it's okay). But the next day, I found out that my iPod went off by itself and I know that my battery isn't low.
I Tried to charge it using my laptop at home, but it still went off! Also, it went normal in my laptop (the iTunes appeared automatically, as a sign that my iPod is charging). So, I tried to restore it and I worked (at least I thought so), until I saw my screen went fuzzy (pink and white stripes). So, almost everyday I turn off my iPod, turn it on again, wait for a while, then use it normally. Usually it lasts 'normal' for hours, but it will still be error as usual.
    So, my question is:
What makes my iPod touch screen went fuzzy?
Is it because I used it while charging?
Is it because I charged it with an adaptor that is not made for Apple products?
please help me, I don't know what else to do! I have restored it, I didn't download many applications like I used to before, and I left it alone when I was charging (I didn't play it while it's charging any more), and I even didn't turn on the Wi-Fi if I'm not using it (I almost NEVER turn off the Wi-Fi before my iPod touch went error)
    Thank you for answering..

  • Ipod touch screen went black and then started flashing. Then the turn off slide comes up.

Ipod touch screen went black and then started flashing. Then the turn off slide comes up. Restored multiple times and didn't work. Ipod works with Itunes fine (can put music and podcasts on the ipod), but can't take songs off of the ipod. Using windows xp and everything is up to date. Any ideas of how to fix it?

I didn't know that it was posted three times. My computer didn't say that it posted anything.
My ipod still syncs to itunes and I can put podcasts and music on my ipod, but I can't delete songs after I put them on the ipod. When I try to delete songs I try to delete it from the main music list on the ipod. It's also doing all the other stuff that I posted before. The screen will go black and then the power off slider thing shows up for a few seconds, then it'll show the unlock slider bar. Then goes black again. It will also do that when I have the ipod unocked and changing songs or playing a game. I've restored it to the factory default/new ipod and it still does the same thing. I've uninstalled and reinstalled itunes and then restored it again to the factory default and it's still doing the same exact thing. I checked and my computer is up to date.

My Ipod touch screen has gone white with bright white spots on it.  I have restored it and it shows in ITunes but the screen is still white.  Is there anything I can do? The warranty has run out so I will have to pay for any repairs (if it can be repaired).  Any help would be much appreciated.  Thank you in advance.

If you still have problems after restoring the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod then you very likely have a hardware problem.  I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
