4Gb Nano - Vista JPE install iTunes 7.4.3.1 - USB driver not found

Help! I've tried all the re-installs and re-boots. I have a fully updated Vista HPE running on an AMD6200 with 2Gb memory. iTunes installs but the USB driver fails to install when the iPod is connected to the USB - the install program searches has search my hard disks and cannot find a driver when it searches the web. Anyone got any ideas on how the fix this?

Since making the post yesterday the fix was reasonably straight forward. See discussion 'windows vista wont install ipod drivers' posted by Nigel Savage Sep 19, 2007 7:20AM and reply by Brian.
Solution involves putting copies of latest version of usbstor.inf and usbstor.pnf from C:\windows\system32\driverstore\filerepository\'look for newest version of folder that start usbstor' into C:\windows\inf folder. Then re-install driver for iPod via control panel - administrative tools - computer management - system tools - device manager. With the ipod connected via the usb look for the icons with a yellow flash - it should now install ... it did for me!

I keep tryin to download/install itunes update. When it gets to install, computer says the program i am trying to use to install this does not contain an itune installation. Pick another program that does!!!  Im not computer savvey. I dont know what to do at this point

    Download the iTunes installer from:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Save it on your PC before attempting to install it.
Put the full text of any error message in your next post including error numbers.
If you prefer you can paste an image of the error into you post.
Press alt prtscrn while the focus is in the error message, then use the little camera at the top of the forum editor to insert the image. (I hope alt prtscrn works in XP, I can't test it myself).

  • Windows Vista SP1 64Bit + iTunes 7.6.2.9 64Bit iPod not found!!!!

Just called apple support and they said my iPod couldn't be supported because it was 19 days past there agreement. They wanted to charge me $29.00 to help me with my 80Gig 5th Gen iPod. I find that really sad that i spend so much money on this thing and not get the right support. Now i install the latest iTunes and plug in my iPod and walaa there's nothing to be found. Whats the problem apple?????

The problem appears to be the intensity of activity during synchronization causing the laptop to overheat. It is happening occasionally with the Apple TV synchronization but repeatably with the iPod synchronization. The only other time the machine has overheated was during an AutoCad install of over 300Mb. Obviously this is also partly Vista in that it does heavy data crunching on IO operations and partly hardware but interestingly the synchronization process is the only thing that is repeatedly pushing it over the edge. The heat rise during synchronization if you hold your finger on the video socket near the CPU is startling. Rising in three or four seconds from warm to a point where you can only just hold your finger there. Have owned the machine for six months without this issue but no I can't leave iTunes running as it is making the machine unstable. Only happened with this latest release.

  • I installed itunes 10.5 and now it will not recognize my phone-

I installed itunes 10.5 last week and now when I plug in my iPhone it will not recognize it.  I've gone through all the recommended troubleshooting through Apple's site but it seems to make my computer worse.  I re-installed itunes 3 times and it still will not find my phone when I plug it in.  When I go to my device manager my "Apply Mobile Device USB Driver" has the little Yellow Triangle with the exclamation point it in- I checked for and updated driver but it says I have the most current one.  I am running Windows Vista and itunes was working fine before I took the upgrade.  Any help is appreciated!
    Thanks!

I spent last week looking for a solution to that little yellow "!" needle haystack....
It is probably buried where nothing can touch or change it other than what I resorted to and would have saved time, clean install after I made sure to have two backup sets: Windows Easy Transfer plus Paragon clone OS and partitions to drive. Had to spend a full day reinstalling, updates, etc. Careful not to bring back any prefs or data that might be corrupt or wrong.
10.5 and iOS 5 on new iPod 4G works much better though and as they should and no issues like I had with AMS or other services or needing to restart first before launching iTunes.

  • CD drive not found after installing Itunes

When I install Itunes on my computer - the computer can not find or open my CD drive at all. If I uninstall and reboot the CD drive shows up and operates. I have tried to reinstall, update drivers, etc with no luck. Any thoughts??

I have seen several other people with the same issue. The problem seems to be some level of incompatibility between the Gear Software CD/DVD filter driver used by iTunes and some CD/DVD drives under Vista. I too have a Dell with the same problem, but I'm not holding my breath for a fix. The only workaround I know of is to to remove the GearAspiWDM filter driver from the registry. If you do this and reboot, your DVD drive will show up again, and iTunes will work except for burning CDs or DVDs. ITunes will also complain about drivers being installed incorrectly whenever you open it.
Here's the registry key to remove:
    HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE1 0318}\UpperFilters=GearAspiWDM
I'm not sure whether the problem is with Vista, Gear Software, iTunes, or the Dell DVD drive firmware. But, getting all the parties working together to resolve this one will be next to impossible in my opinion.

  • I installed iTunes 11.1.5 and it's not "seeing" my iphone 5s that's running IOS 7.1.

I installed iTunes 11.1.5 and it's not "seeing" my iphone 5s that's running IOS 7.1. I don't know what to do. Am I the only one having this issue? I would like to add some music to my phone, and make a back up copy of my phone to my computer, but I can't do anything.

Have you tried a couple of USB cables? And are you using the original cable that came with your phone?
The items in this article would be worth trying.
Edit: Just saw you got things sorted. Great news!

Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes, which is available here -> http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Then try following the steps in this Apple article to create an account without a credit card -> Creating an iTunes Store, App Store, iBookstore, and Mac App Store account without a credit card

I keep trying to install and reinstall itunes but keep getting apple application support not found...how do i fix this?

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
The section Install missing components has advice on breaking down the iTunes installer into the individual .msi files which might prove useful if Apple Application Support won't install normally.

latest message indicates I need Apple Application Update
With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

    Hi sayla,
When you reloaded your software did you do a clean reload (deleting all data)? http://bbry.lv/bpv7DT
If so, you might try doing a resettofactory using the following instructions. http://bit.ly/fMW9I4 This will reset to factory default.

  • Old iPod mini can't be recognized after formatting, and iTunes 'Apple Mobile Device Driver not found.'

My roommate gave me an old iPod Mini a few days ago. It was working fine 'til I plugged it into my computer and it asked me to format it. I did, and now it cannot be recognized by iTunes or my computer. My computer views it as a "removable disk" which cannot be accessed. In devices, it is listed as an Apple iPod though, so I'm hoping not all is lost. I have tried many quick fixes I've read on internet (including changing disk letter) but to no avail. I have reinstalled the new iTunes and now that is telling me it has not installed properly, and when I ran diagnostics, it reads that the Apple Mobile Device Driver not found. I will copy & paste all the info from the diagnostic run below, and if anybody can help me with my new (old) iPod, I'd be everly greatful!

What i knew about iPhone before buying it:
    What You Need
    To use iPhone, you need:
A new two-year wireless service plan with AT&T
A Mac or a PC with a USB 2.0 port and one of the following operating systems:
Mac OS X version10.4.10 or later
Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 2 or later
Windows Vista Home Premium, Business, Enterprise, or Ultimate edition
iTunes 7.3 or later, available at www.itunes.com
    An iTunes Store account
    An Internet connection
You must be at least 18 years old to open a new AT&T wireless account. You will need a
major credit card to open a new iTunes Store account.
    Yeahyeah check all that stuff;
Oh well; just when i thought i'd finally cross over to the beautiful packaging of APPLE. I remember in design school that form follows function. Thanks.
