4gig Nano won't respond to... anything, really.

My GF's 4 gig Nano did something interesting today. She'd been having some problems with it (having to hard-reset to start it at all, anytime it fell asleep), and today the battery was low, apparently the volume fluctuated a bit, then the screen slowly faded out with no volume. At this point, nothing wakes it up. The following is a list of things I've tried:
1) hard restart/reset
2) plug it into a wall charger
3) plug it into the PC via USB (don't have firewire)
These three elicit the same reaction; nothing. it looks like a brick to me, unfortunately.
Before I request an RMA and ship it off, does anyone have any other suggestions?
Thanks

I... don't know what happened. I got home from work today, her iPod having sat all night and day untouched here on our coffee table, and I thought "what the heck" and plugged it into my PC. Nothing happened. "Not surprising," I thought, so I unplugged it, tried a hard-restart, and nothing happened. So I put it down, and plugged mine in to charge.
So help me, as I live and breathe, 20 minutes after I unplugged it, I'm staring at it and it WAKES UP! It's being recognized by my PC and charging as we speak.
All I could think was "It's good to be back, Lloyd." (The Shining)
I should go buy us a lottery ticket.

  • I touch won't respond to anything!! help!!

I recently updated my Itouch with iOS 5.1.1 update.  For about an hour after I did this update,my itouch was frozen on a screen with the apple and a loading bar that wasnt moving.  Then, my itouch "restarted" by itself and froze on a white screen.  I tried restarting it myself, and it restarted, but again froze on the white screen.  I have done this at least 12 times.  Now it won't respond to anything, even when i hook it up to my computer, the computer is not recognizing the connection.  My itouch was working absolutely wonderful before the update, i have not dropped it, or gotten it wet, and it is only a few months old, (January 2012).  I haven"t had any issues with it before now.  If anyone else has had a similar problem or has any suggestions, i'm willing to try anything.  thank you!!

  • HT1476 I can't tell if my ipod touch 3rd gen is really charging. I have it plugged in, but it will sometimes show the charging icon and then it won't respond to anything. I ddon't know if you need itunes to be on your computer to charge it.

Ok, so I plug in my touch 3rd gen and I can't tell if it is really charging. It doesn't seem like it is. I can only see the charging icon sometimes, and then after the icon goes away, the ipod won't respond! I'm not sure what to do. Than I thought the USB port was messed up because it doesn't always work, but I plugged it into a diferent port and it said on the ipod, charging isn't supported with this accessory.

  • My iPod won't respond to anything!!

my 20GB iPod has been working fine since I got my new one in July. Just last night, however, it wouldn't respond to anything. I tried everything and I followed all of the instructions in the "iPod Help" section of iTunes. when I plug my iPod into the wall charger, it won't do anything; when I plug it into my computer, it won't do anything. it won't turn on at all! I have no idea what to do.

I did that last night and nothing works. I know I don't have a dead battery because it was fully charged yesterday.
besides, when I plug it into something, nothing comes up; not even the little "charging" symbol.

my ipod won't respond to me or my laptop. it has been flashing the apple logo for an hour maybe. some one please help. i really don't want to lose my baby.

    Try:

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Ipod won't respond to anything

I have a 20g ipod with click wheel and color screen.
First, my ipod wouldn't be roconized by my itunes. No icon came up in the source list. Nothing would happen when I would connect to my imac.
Now, my ipod won't stop flashing the do not disconnect symbol.
I have tried resetting my ipod but it won't respond to that either.
The only thing that seems to change on it is when I plug it into an electrical outlet, the battery changes to charging mode. The battery was low but still green, is that part of the problem?
    can anyone help?

  • My ipod won't respond to anything. Its there anything I can do?

So my sister spilled her protein shake on the bottom of the front screen of my ipod touch. So I quickly wiped off the goo and sprayed it with some gentle cleanser and wiped it off as well. Well, I had just gotten the ipod a week ago and so the protective cover was still on, and still sticky. So I peeled the cover off only to find that underneath the cover was sticky too. So I sprayed and wiped. I also took a small toothpick and cleaned out the edges because there was shake gooped up in there too.
When I first turned on the ipod, screen's contrast was lighter; and it worked. Then after the cleaning, the screen apeared to be frozen and it still turned off and on. So I thought maybe I should plug it in to the charger and see if maybe it lost battery or that would unfreeze it. Soon after I turned it completely off, it would not respond to anything. It still is black and unresponsive to anything.
I would return the ipod, however, my mom got it for me six months ago for christmas, but then, they decided to get me a laptop. So my mom kept the ipod just in case I wanted to buy it from her. So when I got straight A's, my parents gave it to me as a gift. I am unsure if I can still return it to our local walmart after this long period of time.
    Help would be much appreciated.

  • IPod Nano Gen 7 won't respond to *anything*.

I have a 7th Generation iPod Nano that's worked flawlessly until today, when it won't turn on or respond to being plugged into anything. I've tried using two different iPod USB cords (one that also worked flawlessly until today and a backup one that I didn't even take out of the factory packaging until a few days ago). I've tried using a USB to wall outlet converter to plug the iPod directly into a socket to charge it, which doesn't affect it at all. My iTunes (which I uninstalled and reinstalled just today and ensured that it was completely up-to-date) doesn't recognize it. Many of the troubleshooting pages say to hold down the hold/sleep button until the apple logo appears, but this doesn't work either.
Honestly, all signs point to it being irreparably broken, but I can't think of ANYTHING that could have caused it. It just looks like it's out of battery, but when plugged in, it doesn't respond at all. Has anyone else had such a problem? Do I just need to let it charge for a while before it seems to respond, or do I need to let it drain completely first? It's possible that it's already drained, though, because I haven't used it since yesterday and it could have drained overnight.
Thank you in advance. I'm very worried here.

  • TS3694 How do I restore my iPhone when it shows error 3194 and won't respond to anything? I have a diagram on the phone asking me to connect to itunes which I have already done and downloaded an update.  Does anyone know how to get my phone working again?

My iphone showed an app it recommended I download to update my phone, which I did.
My phone then switched off and showed a picture asking me to plug into Itunes, which I did.  It then directed me to update my phone which took over 2 hours.
My phone still shows the diagram asking me to plug into itunes and it won't work!  I have tried switching it off holding both the top and bottom buttons however the same picture remains and my phone is inoperable.
The error message on Itunes came up as error 3194 and guided me to this site.
I'd really appreciate any help in getting my phone working is anyone has experienced this before?
    Thanks.

  • Premiere Pro CC asleep? Won't respond to anything when I go back to it.

So, I've been having this issue for a week or two now, and I can't seem to figure out why it is happening. I usually have Premiere Pro CC (most recent version installed running in OSX Yosemite) open in the background of my computer when I'm not editing anything, but when I go back to it after varying periods of time, and try to do anything, nothing happens. I hit the space bar to play, scrub the playhead in the timeline, source, and program windows, double-click to open clips from my bin, switch tools, etc., and nothing happens. The playhead in the windows will move, but no audio or video plays - whatever is in the source and program windows at that time will stay there, like it's frozen. But there is no spinning pinwheel of death/spinning beach ball or anything. If I right-click on the PP icon in the dock, it doesn't say that the program isn't responding. There's no indication that anything is wrong.
Occasionally, Premiere will wake up after a minute (sometimes more, sometimes less) and work fine. Sometimes I have to save the project (by pressing Command-S or by using the File menu) to get it to work, but that doesn't always fix it. I Command-Tab to other programs and then go back to PP - sometimes that works, sometimes it doesn't. Closing and opening the program always works, but that's an annoying fix just to get the program to wake up.
Has anyone else had these issues? I can't be the only one.

  • Phone won't respond to anything.

Hi there. I've had a problem that's been developing with my curve for a month or so, whereby it will stop responding to any button I push for no reason at all. No reaction from the power button, the scroller, the keyboard or even from putting it on to charge (when it doesn;t recognise that its being charged up). I've previously been able to fix this by taking the battery out, putting ti back in and letting it reboot itself. However, the number of times I've been haivng to do this has increased until as of a few days ago the batttery trick won't work either. My phone is now completely dead, and any advice be hugely appreciated.
I'll try to give as much info as is asked for in that sticky thread, but as I say, my phone is dead so I'm not able to check very much of it.
    Device Info:
    Carrier: O2
Model Info and OS Version: Blackberry Curve 9300, I think OS system 5 but I can;t be sure.
    Apps and free space:
My apps staye don my phone before and after I pulled the battery but as I say, it used to fix the problem.
    Thanks in advance!

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB):
With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
    Remove the battery
    Wait 15 minutes
    Insert the battery
Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
This has been known to "kick start" some BBs.
It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:
Obtain a known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens
The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem.
Failing that, you may need to use the most drastic recovery process:
KB27956 How to recover a BlackBerry smartphone from any state
If that does not work, then you likely have a hardware problem, which is impossible to properly diagnose at an Internet distance, and no amount of softare or OS fixes can resolve such.
Good luck and let us know!

  • My iPod has a blue screen and won't respond to anything. Help?

My iPod touch just stopped working after I tried to retweet something on my Twitter app, and the entire screen turned blue. Now it won't turn off or respond to being plugged into the computer. My home button has been stuck in for a couple months, so I'm not able to hold down the home button and the sleep/wake button. Any advice?

    - Try as yuo can with the bad Home button
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
When it says place the iPod in recovery mode, use this program instead:
RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode
    - If not successful, let the battery fully drain. After charging for at least an hour try the article again.
    - If still problem that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
