I recently forwarded my e-mail from my local provider to g-mail. How do I transfer my address book contacts to g-mail contacts. Or how do I use MacMail with a g-mail account?
Add the Gmail account to Mail/Preferences/Accounts. Click the + sign at the bottom left and add it.
Try another browser as a test.

If you want to upgrade the OS, the following applies.
Check that your computer is compatible with Mountain Lion/Mavericks/Yosemite.
To check the model number hold down the option/alt key, go to the Apple menu and select System Information.
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) model number 5,1 or higher
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) model number 3,1 or higher
Your Mac needs:
OS X v10.6.8 or OS X Lion already installed
2 GB or more of memory (More is better - 4 GB minimum seems to be the consensus)
8 GB or more of available space
Check to make sure your applications are compatible. PowerPC applications are no longer supported after 10.6.

Can I transfer my address book/contacts from a laptop with windows vista to my iPad mini?
To sync from windows things like Contacts, Calendars, and Mail you would need to have Outlook on the computer 2003, 2007, or 2010. This article might help you out if your setting it up for the first time. Hope it helps.

Cannot sync my Address Book to Contacts
I cannot sync my Address Book to my .Mac. I always get this message
"Invalid response received from .Mac. Could not complete synchronization - please try again later". My password and account info is correct and I have followed the instructions for sycing with .mac account...Please help!Thank you again for your help. I probably was not as clear in my answer as I should have been. I did follow the instructions in the linked article, even though it was for the iPhone. Since I do not have a Windows Hotmail account, I could not use that guidance. I will just type in the addresses I need as I need them when using the iPad device. It would be much simpler if I could have just synced them directly to the device.
Thank you. -
I cannot access my address book now that I have updated to Snow Leopard.
I bought Quickbooks 2012 for the Mac, which required that I update my OS to Snow Leopard (at least.) So I purchased it online (not available at apple stores anymore.) And Installed it. Then I went to apple and got the free updates and installed them. Now I cannot use my address book. A message comes up that says " You can't use this version of the application Address Book.app with this version on Mac OS X. You have address Book.app 4.1.2" HELP! All my personal and business contacts are in there and predictably, I need them.
Can you open Contacts and edit, insert, and delete cards, or does it fail to work, also?
Try the steps I outline here: Re: After Lion upgrade, my addressbook does not work++ -

Hi there!
The device switch wizard is available for many non-BB devices...see this KB:
KB05459 How to use the Switch Device Wizard to switch from another smartphone to a BlackBerry smartphone
If your old device is not compatible with the wizard, then you need to find out if the old device can export the data you desire so that the BB can import it:
KB11194 How to import contacts from an CSV file to the BlackBerry device
If you are already using a compatible desktop PIM with your old device, then the RIM software can import from the PIM and bypass the old device completely:
KB12268 Applications supported by BlackBerry Desktop Manager for synchronization
KB17022 How to configure synchronization settings for BlackBerry Desktop Manager
If that does not work, then please return to these forums (http://supportforums.blackberry.com/rim/) and register an account so that we can provide you with direct assistance.
Cheers!

How to delete a contact from contacts/address book?
I have a contact I want to erase from my desktop Mac contacts/address book in OS X Mavericks but I cannot figure out how. I see no delete button. This contact is not on my iPhone (with iOS 7) and it's not shown at all if i log into icloud.com and check out my address book. It's messing up all my programs dependent on the contacts/address book.
THanks.Looks like I have more problems than just that. There are TWO icloud accounts showing in contacts preferences even though I only have ONE. I cannot remove one of them. It says I should remove it from internet accounts. Internet accounts only has ONE icloud account.

I updated my mac with os x Lion so that I could accomplish moving my address book from the mac to my new IPad 3G. I also set up an icloud account for this purpose, but I *still* cannot figure out how to move my address book from one computer to the other. When I'm on my mac and try to use bluetooth to export the address book, I'm able to find my ipad but I soon get a message that it does not support the necessary services. I have no idea what's going on and would appreciate any advice. tks in advance, Sarah
The address book syncs via iCloud, not Bluetooth or iTunes.
You upgraded to Lion so you could use iCoud.
On the computer. go to Apple menu > System prefs > iCloud.
Sign into your iCloud account.
Tick everything.
This enalbes the se items syncing to iCloud.
On the iPad, Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Create a new iCloud account.
Sign in with the same AppleID as your computer.
Settings > iCloud and turn everything on.
BAM!
That is all you need to do.
Your contacts (and all other checked items checked) will sync between computer and iPad.

How to transfer Mac Address Book to Comcast email Address Book?
I recently upgraded from a dialup modem to Comcast Cable high speed internet. Previously, I used aol for email and wanted to change to Comcast email. I used the aol Service Assistant to successfully transfer my aol address book into my Mac Address Book. But now, I can't find a way to transfer the Mac Address Book to Comcast. I loaded Outlook Express and tried to transfer the Mac AB , but it is not a text file, so I was unable to transfer. Comcast supports Outlook Express and they have an import protocol. How can I save the Mac Address Book as a text file and then transfer to Outlook Express? Any suggestions to avoid rekeying the entire address book would be appreciated.
Mac Powerbook G4 Mac OS X (10.3.9)Hello Dennis.
If you are wanting to transfer your Address Book contacts to Comcast's server stored address when accessing your Comcast email account via webmail with a browser, you don't need Outlook Express to do so.
You can use a utility called Address Book Exporter which exports your Mac OS X Address Book contacts as a tab-delimited plain text file which should work for importing all contacts to Comcast's server stored address book. -

How do I transfer an address book from one computer to another?
I'm trying to transfer an address book from my G4 to my Imac G5 and can't seem to figure out how to do it. I've tried exporting out of one, but the other doesn't read it. These computers are not connected so I'm transferring via cd.
Thanks,
Dick SkoverHi Dick
If they are both running Tiger
Use "Backup Address Book" in Address Book > File to make a copy then
"Revert to Address Book Backup" on the iMac
I use this for backing up both Address Book and iCal as a matter of course (it is the Apple recommended way in the Help files) I put them into a folder in my "Documents" and clear old copies once a month. If you use .Mac I would certainly recommend it seeing the problems with data loss some folks have had.
