4s Keep saying "No Service" when out of state

On a recent trip to Houston from Florida, my phone kept giving me "No Service" when I got off the plane.
I kept fiddling with settings and rebooting and it finally connected. What could have caused that?
I travel a lot for business and need the phone to work 100% of the time...

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. Based on what you stated, it sounds like you have no service on the iPhone. It looks like you have already done some troubleshooting. There is one step you did not mention trying that i think is worth trying.
If you see No Service in the status bar of your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support
Remove the SIM card. If the SIM card is damaged, worn, or bent, or if it's too big or small for the SIM tray, contact your carrier for a new one. Then reinsert the SIM card.

You must complete the unlock process with the ATT SIM in the phone. Follow the directions you received with the email saying that your unlock was approved.
At the end of the process you should have gotten an message saying that your phone was succesfully unlocked.

After you have downloaded the update, attach your iPad to your computer, open iTunes and select your iPad in the devices list. Press & hold the Option/Alt key and click the Check for Update button. Browse to where you downloaded the update and Choose it. iTunes will handle the rest.

Please email me on what to do to get FireFox to work.

Please also try this setting: Windows start menu or Control Panel > '''Devices and Printers''', right-click the printer > '''Printer properties''' > '''Advanced''', and select '''Start printing after the last page is spooled'''. In this case you can also close Firefox after spooling is over (usually much faster than direct printing), and printing will continue.
Also as a general case, if you have security software (antivirus, firewall etc.) installed, you can try deleting all existing instances of Firefox and its related processes/files in all the different configuration modules/areas of the security software like process monitoring, sub/spawned process control, virtualization, HIPS etc., in addition to the security software's main configuration panel. Instead create new fully allowed/trusted rules for Firefox + its related processes in all the different modules/panels - a genuine/original Firefox installer as well as all the installed EXEs (Application) and DLLs (Application extension) are digitally signed by Mozilla Corporation (right-click > Properties > Digital Signatures). Even otherwise, some security software may also ask again when Firefox and/or its sub processes are started, and you may be able to allow/trust at that time. Why does FaceTime keep saying "connection lost" when we both have full bars on our wifi? My friend in Texas has tried to call my via FaceTime but for some reason, every time she does, it keeps saying "connection lost" when we both have full bars on our wifi. Keep in mind, I am from Nebraska so we have the same time zone and I have an iPod 4 while she has a iPhone of some sort but that shouldn't matter because I am still able to FaceTime my friend in California, which is two hours behind me. So, I guess I just want to know why I cannot reach my friend in Texas. Please, someone help me!

There appear to be a number of posts about this topic.
I have the same problem with my iPad 2. Worked fine for months, and now suddenly the iPad seems to 'loose' the SIM card and reports in the top-left corner it reads: 'No SIM'.
Some findings from my side, while trying to address this:
- when I switch to flight mode and then turn flight mode off again, the problems goes away, but comes back after a few minutes
- same happens when I do a full power off.
- I got a new SIM card from my provider. Same issue.
- once you 'lost' the SIM card, it never comes back. (only after full power off - see above).
- I contacted Apple Care today and they told me that this was not a known problem to them. Well, now it is :-)
- Apple Care suggested to me to perform a full reset of the iPad. This is standard procedure and this was not a specific recommended action in relation to this problem. But suggest to perform this procedure anyway. In Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. With this you do not loose your data, but you will need to configure your network/password settings, game center password, etc.
For now this appears to have fixed it....

The phone has a 1 year warranty. If it is defective, or has failed within the warranty period, and it was not physically damaged, hacked, or jailbroken, Apple will replace it under warranty.
If it is outside of the 1 year warranty, then you can get an out of warranty replacement from Apple for US$149 (for an iPhone 4).
Where things stand between you and your cellular carrier is not a concern to Apple.

My brother's HTC contract ran out so he got an iPhone 5C last night. He didn't change networks or change his number and the salesman said that the new sim card he gave him would be ready to go when he put it in the phone with the same number etc. When he got it home he put the nano sim into the new phone but it just says 'no service' at the top left of the screen. Has anyone else encountered this?
He's tried restarting the phone and enabling/disabling aeroplane mode as other forums suggested.

I would suggest that just didn't happen call the Carrier customer support and find out the issue

Ok, so sometimes apple's servers may crash, temporarily. Just check the following site: http://www.apple.com/uk/support/systemstatus/
and it will notify you of any crashes. The link above is for the UK. Change to adapt to your country if you are outside of the UK. If your problem isn't listed I am sure it will be resolved within 24 hours. If this problem persists best thing is to contact apple.

All devices should automatically reestablish a connection after power cycling the router.
Also try resetting your iPod. Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

i appreciate the responses.
i did all that. nothing is taking up my capacity. I have already deleted all my music, i have 1 gb of photos, and only a few random apps, nothing totaling close to my phones capacity. this has happened twice before where the memory slowly decreases and i get the message of full storage. Then 2 days later its back up to 7 or 8 gb. Yesterday it was at 535 mb, and then last night it went back up to 6 gb. and as i type this its at 4.5 gb with no change in apps or photos or music. I have the latest update and other than that my phone is working properly. im assuming its just another software bug, but if anyone has a solution, it would be greatly appreciated.
