4th Gen Battery change, easy or not?!?

My 20GB 4th Gen iPod is draining its battery within 3-4hours max and will lose its charge when put to sleep over the space of 1 day!
I'm about to make an order for a few things from OWC in the US and found the Newer Technology NuPower High-Capacity 830mAh Apple iPod Replacement for 4th Gen iPod at $24.99 i.e. not many £'s, having watched the instruction vid online I see the original battery can be well glued in and difficult to remove.
So my question is have others had diffuculty in removing original apple installed batteries, and is replacement something I should get done by a pro?
Apple in UK charge around £50 to replace battery, the OWC battery at a third of the price in £ also offers 33% more battery life, should I be brave and do it myself?

Hi, thanks for link, only thing is their pro fit service costs the same as apple i.e. £49.00, if I purchase battery from OWC then it will cost £13.50+VAT and I can fit myself, I feel ok opening the iPod up but its the glue on the original battery I'm worried about, I wondered if anyone has had issues in removing original apple installed battery?

My 4th gen ipod shuffle is either not working or dead, i have opened it and found that its black near audio pin is injected and its heating while connecting via usb to laptop neeeeeeeeeeeeeeed help any one...............................
i think its kind of short circuited is any thing workable in this device or not........

I solved my problem by restoring the shuffle to factory settings on the summary screen. Now it seems to work the way it's supposed to. Many thanks to Apple for zero help, as usual. Apple should direct less resources to developing the next snazzy ipad and more to cleaning up and enhancing itunes. I'll make the same editorial comment about the iphone 4 voicemail options.

What is wrong with the ipod touch 4th gen battery?

I have an 8gb 4th gen ipod touch that I purchased in December 2011. I charged it completely last night after doing a full reset, and by morning the battery was only at half charge. I've turned off all unnecessary services, no apps were running, no music/video play, just in sleep mode. Still the battery drained down at least 50%.
Is anyone else experiencing these problems? Have you found a way to extend the battery charge?

You did not say if the iPod was in airplane mode. That helps a lot. With iOD 5, the battery does drain faster than before.

IPod Touch 4th Gen Battery Issue

My iPod Touch 4th gen drains the battery while sitting idle overnight. I listen to it all day at work with normal battery usage. When I got home I charged my touch to 100% then left it disconnected in standby mode overnight and in the morning the it is down to 50%. I checked and there are no apps running in the background. What on earth is happening? I also have a 3rd Gen Touch, with all the same apps and it does not do this.
I have 2 4th gen Touch and they are both behaving the same way.
Any ideas?
Is it possible that FaceTime is polling or something?

I am having the exact same problem. I even wiped out my ipod touch, took out all the apps, and turned off all notifications, wifi, bluetooth ect... Then I fully charged it to 100% and left it in stand-by all night. The next morning it was so dead, I had to plug it up and wait about 5-10 minutes until it would even turn on. I sent it back to apple, and they sent it back to me, saying they tried to recreat the issue but it never happened to them. I am at my wits end with it now. And when I sent it to apple, I asked them if I should take off the screen protector, because the man on the phone told me they would probable send me a new one. Well, they sent me the old one, so they made me take off a $23 screen protector, just for them to send me back the old one. I could just scream. Oh and did I mention I sent it scratch free, and got it back with a lovely arrangement of scratches on the back. Thanks apple. You will be hearing from me soon. Let me know if ayone else gets this issue resolved.

4th gen Battery Problem

My 4th gen ipod recently started seeing problems with the Battery life. I had a new battery put in about 4 months ago and I can usually get 12+ continuous hours out of my Ipod on a full charge now.
But now I was using it for about 2 hours(fully charged to begin), it shut itself down and I got the error that the battery was fully drained. So I put it away, came home from work this morning and turned it back on and the thing has 3/4 of a full charge now?
Sometimes IT shuts off, then I immediately start it back up and the battery level in the top corner displays empty, but after a minute I can literally watch the battery level climb back up to a decent charge where I know it is...

ok...I understand that, but what could be causing the controller to think that my battery is almost dead when I have well more than 6 hours of playtime left on it?
The battery in it is not even year old, last November the hard drive crapped out and I had a new battery put in with the new hard drive then I started having these problems with it only about 2-3 months ago.
When it happens, sometimes it just shuts off and I'll get the Battery with the triangle icon and sometimes it just powers off with nothing on the screen...I just flick the "hold switch" back and forth, then I get the Apple logo, then it pops to the main menu. Battery level in top right corner is totally depleted, then within 1 minute I can watch the level indicator climb back up to where it was when it powered down.
I'm kinda thinkin mabey just toss it and go buy a newer one...

Does anyone know if a 4th gen battery will fit in 3rd gen?

Can anyone help me out here? I have a 15GB 3rd Gen iPod and its battery life is just evil, so i wanna change the battery pack to a 4th Gen which has 12hours (or 15 if i use the latest one), but i dont know if it will fit AND work properly with the older model....its no use if it malfunctions. The batteries will of course be correctly sized to fit into a 3G iPod. No hammer, shoehorn or debigulator necessary.

My iPod touch 4th gen is shutting down and not playing music?

so here is the story:
lately my iPod touch 4th gen will become frozen, or slow whenever i am using it. However within the last 2 weeks it has shut itself down completely (even though there was always more than half charge) 3 times and won't allow me to turn it on for about 2-3 days. It also will not play music anymore, and instead is either silent or sounds of static. I am just wondering if there is anyway I can fix it or if I need to buy a new iPod.

Backup the 3g by syncing in iTunes. Then connect the new one and sync everything to it from your backup.

IPod touch 4th gen stuck at apple logo, not recognized by iTunes/PC. HELP!

Update forced me to restore my iPod touch 4th gen. and now it will not turn on.

After putting new music on my iPod touche 4th gen. I attempted to update the software. When I did I got a message that told me y iPod was in "Recovery Mode" and needed to be restored. So I clicked "Restore" and waited while iTunes prepared to Restore my iPod. When it had finished my iPod went black and I could no longer do anything with it.
