4thgen Old 30 point Charger.

4thgen Old 30 point Charger.
I Have been having problems With sync cables as of late I am ios6 refusing to go to ios 7.
Though I have been the the genius bar on one account.
I have brought 2 or 3 cheap cables to replace the broken ones I have had
First was a 3 meter one and worked fine for a few days then said in the offical charger it was full after 10 mins. took to genius bar and they said it works there end fine even though it aint apple product.
I also  have  a power board  wih usb and when i charged it with that cable on there ipod over heated. turn off and on and then through that cable  out thinking it was the cable  and brought another normal length cable all seemed ok
took it away for me for a week and all worked fine   charged it idk 4 times all worked on  then got home started using it in my  power board  and  was all charging ok then yesterday took cable out started using official charger and it says not recognised   so i  got it to recognise and then i half charged said it was full.
but it charged the night before on the powerboard fine used gf ipod radio dock and it charged the full way.
I originally brought the offcial charger to  charge ipod but had been using it to charge ipad mini like 10  times With no Problem.
I am sick of going to the genus bar looking like a  ####. so today i borrowed brothers spare  Iphone Charger and going to see how that goes for a few days
My question are
Could the Powerboard stuff the cable and not make official charger charge it?
Could me charging the ipod  and itouch on the same device  designed for the ipod have a problem when charging ?(as I dont want to wreck the pa one if its the case)
any other suggestions would be helpfull
I am sick of
being told to go to genies bar as they have been not much help.

- Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
I suspect a problem with your dock connector.

My I pod touch 5th one month old wont charge. Its on charger for 2 days but battery does not move from red sign?

    Try the remaining items of:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Can I use my old wall charger?

I used to have a 4th Gen iPod which recently broke. I went out yesterday to buy the new 30 gig 5th generation iPod and to my surprise it didn't come with as much accessories as my older iPod. I was wondering if it is ok to us my old wall charger on my new iPod?

Yes, you can use the wall adapter and the firewire cord to charge your new 5G iPod. Just know that the firewire cable that came with your 4G iPod (the one that connects to the charger) can only be used to charge the iPod with the adapter, not to sync the iPod with the computer.
But for a simple answer, yes you can use that charger with your new iPod

  • Can i use an old car charger with a usb port to charge my iPhone 5s?

Can I use an old car charger for a not smart phone to charge my iPhone 5s through the usb port?

    Usually you can!
check if the specification of charger (USB output) is 5V (very important) and at least 500mA (more power like 1000mA --> 1A allow you to charge greater devices like iPad)
But personally is not good idea, because in short/long time can damage or reduce the life of battery of your iPhone/iPad etc.

  • Will old iPhone charger work on iPad

While the new iPhone 3GS chargers are 5 watts I think, we still have a spare charger for the original iPhone which says it's 10 watts. So would the old iPhone charger work fine on the iPad?
They look very similar. The only difference is the old iPhone chargers say 10 watts and 5 volts while the iPad chargers say 10 watts and 5.1 volts.

I understand that the new iPhone 3GS charger, which is 5 watts, will charge the iPad slower, but wouldn't original iPhone charger, which is 10 watts, charge it just as fast as the iPad charger?

  • New MacBook with old MacBook charger

    Dear readers,
I have a question. I am the proud owner of a MacBook Pro (13") from early 2011. Yet, I have had problems with chargers. The first charger stopped charging my MacBook after 2 months, and now, after about 6 months my replacement charger also stopped charging my MacBook (the first one was connected but didn't charge, the second one was connected, but the computer didn't recognize it was). Somehow, the new charger's don't seem to have a long lifespan. I like the white block chargers better than the rectangle-like aluminium shaped ones, since they fit better and seem to keep working longer. My sister, however, was the owner of an old white MacBook, presumably from 2006 (it was the first one with an intel processor) but that MacBook died. Well, to make a long story short, her charger works great on my MacBook but here's my question: Does it hurt my MacBook, and my battery in particular, to charge it with this old MacBook charger?
Thank you very much for your reply!

Your MBP came with a 60W adapter, and the old MB charger can only put out 45W. So it will charge the MBP's battery when the machine is shut down or sleeping, and perhaps when the computer is being used for light work, though charging will be slower then than it would be with the right adapter. When the machine is working hard, the battery won't be charged. You won't do the computer any harm, but the adapter will probably get hotter than the original adapter did, so be sure to use it only where it has air circulating freely around it for cooling.

  • Using old wall charger with new iPod Classic

I just got a new 80Gb iPod Classic to replace my old original 20Gb model. Can anyone tell me if the wall charger that came wiht the older model will work to charge the newer one?

Yes, it should work just fine. I'm still using the AC adapter and firewire cable from my 60 gig iPod Photo to charge my Touch, 3rd gen Nano and 60 gig iPod with Video.

  • Can I use my old firewire charger with my iPod Touch

I've recently got an 8GB iPod Touch which obviously only came with a USB cable to charge and sync with my laptop.
However, I've also got an old 4th generation 20GB iPod which came with a firewire lead that connects to a firewire mains charger. Can I use this to charge my iPod touch from the mains? Also can I use either the firewire or the old USB cable to connect to my laptop??
    Thanks very much.

You can use the firewire charger to connect your Touch to the mains. I use my old one and it works just fine. I suppose you can also use it to charge using your computer though I can't say I've tried. However, as the newer iPods don't have any kind of firewire circuitry, you can't use the firewire cable to sync you iPod.
    Best of luck.

  • Old Firewire Charger

Is there any way to adapt the firewire charger to work with iPhone 3G? Reason being is I want to extend the length of the cord and I want to use the old charger so I can plug it in and use it at "long-range."

There are adapters for firewire to usb. Google is your friend.

  • Charging New iPod with Old FireWire Charger

Hi, this should be a quick one to solve... I have an old FireWire AC Charger from a 2nd (or 3rd?) Gen iPod I no longer use, and the original FW cable. The dock connector on the old FW cable fits my newer iPods (5.5G iPod Video and a Touch), can the FW AC charger be used to charger these newer USB-only iPods, or will it fry them?
If so, will it also work with a Nano? I want to get one for a friend who doesn't own a computer, so a wall charger will be their only way to charge (in which case I'll just by a new wall charger if the old FW one is incompatible).
    Thanks!
(Note: I don't need it to transfer data, just to charge)

Yes, you can charge new iPod off older Firewire chargers. Just no data transfer.
    Cheers,

  • Will my old ipad charger work with my ipad 2?

Just got a new iPad 2.  Will my old iPad chargers work with the new iPad?

Yes, all IOS devices use the apple 30 pin connecter (the same one that came with your original iPad). You can charge and sync iPads, iPhones, and iPods with the same cord.
