5.0.1 crashing during games
When I try to launch game apps on my iPad first generation in order to continue play I otherwise do on my desktop, the apps are crashing long before any gaming gets underway. Sometimes it almost makes it, other times it crashed after the initial step or anywhere in between. I've followed the developer's advice but no dice (no pun intended). My operating system on the iPad is 5.1.1. I just bought it used which is why it's so old. Please note, I successfully played these games (Candy Crush, Bubble Witch, Farm something or other Saga) for a couple of months before this crashing behavior began and I cannot think of anything I could have done. No new installs, etc. Thanks.
Hi, the same thing happened to my iPod touch 1G. The apps are fully capable of working, but your iPad isn't powerful enough to run them. There is no fix at the moment, you should try freeing up some space on your iPad.

after having problems with the 2nd Dimm slot on my Gigabyte board i gave that away and bought an MSI socketA board as per the subject line of the post, and transplanted all the hardware onto the MSi board.

booted, and built fine, puzzeled about 2.7Volts for memory, but i guess 3Gb sucks a bit of juice.
crashed during games like doom3, farcry, trackmania sunrise etc. even just playng video! pushing up the memory voltage to 2.8v from 2.6v seemed to help... it would just run a little longer before crashing. everything is stock speed and voltage except the ram. tried all kinds of combinations of dimms in slots, tried upping the CPU Vcore. all chipset and GFX drivers are the lastest versions (5.10 for the mainboard, and whatever the current one is for the GFX card).
totally stumped. what is going on? and if anyone says i should have checked the ram compatability chart, i shouldn't HAVE to check to see if my ram is compatable. it should just work. and i am definatly NOT ditching £330 worth of ram over a £50 mainboard. the dimms are all from the same batch, same manufacturer, etc etc, and no trouble all with my old gigabyte board.
also checked the hardware, pulled cards, swapped gfx boards - my GF6800GT, spare GF5900U, old GF5200, and my old faithfull PCI GF2MX400. same problem.
now heres the kicker. got home from work for another evenings troubleshooting, (windows and games would blue screen saying i should check the drivers, or the hardware, gfx card) and found that the PSU had died. really annoyed now. when i go buy a new PSU, any suggestions? or shall i take this MSI board outside and shoot it?
come back gigabyte, all is forgiven. If those figures are right, I can't see the PSU as the reason for your problems.
About the temps, though I haven't got that experience myself, some temperature monitors read very high levels, while BIOS tells it as all is idle, and very idle. I mean, it could be the messenger.
Yep, I searched the Internet, quote 1 below. Thermaltake?! Maybe they have changed the specs? It is twice as expensive but moves half the air as to the Spire Whisperrock I've got (quote 2). I would if I were you, really go for an 80 mm HSF anyway.

Qosmio X300-14C - Crash during games due to overheating of the GPU
Hi everybody. I recently by a Qosmio X300-14C (core 2 Quad Q9000,? 9700 GTS), and during games, the temperature of the GPU increase till 100 C and the game crash.
So I buy a USB cooler for my X300. Now, the temperature increase ?only? till 96 97C. And there is no crash.
I try to put the last bios, the last Toshiba GPU driver, the last nvidia GPU driver, the same.
When I start Vista, without any application, the temp increase till 65C. The fan increase his speed, so the temp goes to 55. The fan stop running faster, and the temp start to increase again.
During games, the fan made the same noise when the temp is 65C or 95C. So I think the problem is here. There is no increase of the fan speed for very high temp. So only 2 speed: under 65C and over, that?s all.
I install ntune, but the speed of the fan dont move at all. For the GPU I have 20.000 RPM per minute! Is that right?
Some people have the same probleme?
Thanks!
Esteban.
Message was edited by: Esteban_1I have the same problem with my Qosmio X300 (PQX32E-04H02WGR). Anytime I'm playing games there is a blackscreen and a tuneloop.
I wrote a email to the toshiba-service in germany and they told me to make a new installation of windows, to install the new bios 2.1 and the new beta driver from nvidia. Even this all did not solve the problem.
So I ring up the german hotline and they told me that there is nothing more to do and that they don't know that problem. They sayed I could try playing the games in a reduced resolution and perhaps this could solve the problem!!!??? Yes... I buy a very expensive gamer-notebook to play with it in a reduced resolution - nice idear.
After I told them that I think it could be an overheating-problem they want to get the notebook to find it out on my own risk (I have to pay a service-charge if it is no overheating problem).
We will see... -
MBpro 15" Crashing during games/movies/etc.
Hey, been experiencing crashes while playing games and watching a few movies on my MBpro 15" Mid-2010 i5 Gt330m.
It will just lock up all of a sudden and then play a continuous sound loop with a black screen. I then have to force shut it down, hold the power key down the first time-nothing....then try a second time to hold it down to shut it off and then it goes off.
Tried the update recommended by TS4088 and its still doing it. I have 10+ panic reports in the last few weeks. Can't play SC2 for more than 5-10 minutes.
Took it to the Apple Store today and they ran a check and of course everything comes up fine. I can get it to crash every time by playing sc2 about 5 minutes in, always on minimum settings. What gives?
Does this look like a hardware issue???
Shows up nealy the same type of issue every single time upon reboot

First, back up all data. Then uninstall the Cisco VPN client, which is notorious for causing instability. Use the built-in Cisco client, if possible. Test that configuration.
If there's no improvement, try running the 64-bit kernel:

I don't have a solution available for you yet. Your alternatives are to use a different browser or revert Flash Player back to a previous version (my suggestion would be the most recent version of 10.3).
How do I revert to a previous version of Flash Player?

Firefox slow loading games, crashing during game
Crashed 3x while playing Farkle on FB 5/22, now 5/23, second time. As it takes me forever to load the game I am totally angry about this happening.
Hello Edie.
Make sure all your plugins are up to date (Tools > Add-ons > Plugins > Find Updates). If they are and it still doesn't work right, disable all extensions (just to check) and see if works then. If it does, enable them one at a time to find which one is giving you trouble. Contact its author for support, and keep it disabled.
I hope this helps. -
AOL problems and crashes during games
Folks:
Most every time I download software updates, I cannot access AOL. It happened again yesterday. I tried trashing the preferences, but that hasn't worked.
Also, certain games we play crash suddenly and for no reason. We don't have this problem with other programs, just games. We're able to relaunch the game and play again, for the most part. Could that be a RAM problem and if so, why since we have a gig of RAM and these games don't call for that much?
Thanks for any and all help.Hi Again Theresa!
I also had some updates, that needed to be installed on my MacBook, so I installed them this afternoon, to see if I could replicate your experience.
Sure enough, AOL hung on Initializing!
So after quitting, and force quitting AOL, I moved the files and folders listed below, to the Trash.
I then restarted the MacBook, ran Repair Permissions for good measure, and loaded AOL.
It took longer than usual, but it did finish starting!
In HD > Users > Home Account > Library > Preferences:
AOL a folder
com.aol.aol.plist a file
In HD > Users > Shared > America Online:
Access Numbers a file
Art Database a file
Bart Cache a folder
Buddy Icon Cache a folder
Disconnect Log a file
Your Feedbag a file
Session Diagnostics a file
If this procedure works for you, don't forget to reset the AOL Preferences.
Repost if you're not successful.

IMac late 2012 crashes during games
I bought a brand new 21.5" iMac with a 2.7 GHz i5 and 16 GB RAM. Everything works great except when playing games (World of Warcraft & Diablo III) it just crashes after a few minutes, anywhere between 5 minutes and 20 minutes. In WoW, the screen begins to flicker black before the game freezes.
I am unable to even force quit the games or do anything besides turn off and turn on my computer. I've had no other problems with the computer so I'm assuming something is wrong with the graphics card, but I guess it could be anything. I set up the computer through migration assistant to grab everything from my old iMac. Could it be an issue with the migration? Should I reinstall Mountain Lion? I don't know.
Any ideas? Thank you!First use disk utilities to verify/repair your hard drive, Take a look at this link, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1782

IMac Crashing during game play
I recently patched a video game that has run stabley on my iMac for several months. The program will run for four or five minutes and then I get the dreaded screen instructing me to reboot my cpu. This happened three times in a row and see below for the crash report. I have run disk first aid which fixed a "header issue." I ran the program again and once again the system crashed on me. I am unsure as to what I need to do... Help? The tech support people for the game say to format my entire computer and reinstall.... I dont know if a game is worth that much work.

ITunes 7.1 Causes Computer to Crash During Games
When running iTunes 7.1 along with games in order to play my own music in the background (specifically Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion but presumably any game with significant usage of EAX or 3D sound hardware capabilities), my sound card's output becomes garbled (but only for the game's output, not iTunes') and shortly after my computer either freezes or experiences a MACHINECHECKEXCEPTION blue screen of death. The only other game I have installed - The Sims 2 - does not cause this problem, but it probably isn't as taxing on audio hardware.
You can listen to the (fatal) glitch here if you're interested: http://www.supload.com/listen?s=S7n1x01E_1X
The reason I am coming here instead of a Creative forum is that the problem was introduced with iTunes 7.1 and will not occur with any previous version or any other audio-playing software I've tried.
I have a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS, and the problem is limited to this card, meaning it doesn't happen with my onboard sound, but the problem was introduced with iTunes 7.1. I've uninstalled and put version 7 (no .1) back on to make sure and the problem would not occur.
Also, it seems to be limited to having high-quality audio options set in the QuickTime Preferences. It only seems to happen when I have 48kHz as the sampling rate and 24-bit as the size. Using "Safe mode" will have no effect; the problem occurs with or without using waveOut.
I almost scrapped my sound card until I decided to diagnose the problem further and discovered it was limited to iTunes 7.1.
I hope this problem is solved in future versions of iTunes, but since - I'll admit - it seems fairly obscure, I'll probably be forced to stay one version below 7.1 from now on or (Gosh-forbid) lower the quality settings for now.
So some steps to reproduce the problem (if you have a Creative Sound Blaster card (one that supports 24-bit which is most new or decent ones) I'd appreciate you confirming this issue) are:
1. Open QuickTime Player. Click Edit > Preferences > QuickTime Preferences. Click the Audio tab and change the Rate to 48 kHz if it isn't there already. Change the Size to 24 bit from 16 bit. Channels doesn't seem to have any effect on this issue so leave it alone. Click OK and exit QuickTime player.
2. Now go ahead and open iTunes and start playing some music.
3. Try playing any game you have that takes a decent toll on your sound card's abilities (Oblivion should cut it if you have it; I haven't tried World of Warcraft but I'd reckon that in a busy area the problem would occur in it as well).
4. Enter an area with a lot of noises, or start battling or something.
And a temporary workaround:
1. Just change the Size back to 16 bit, or lower the Rate to 44.1 kHz, and the problem should go away.
Windows XP Pro Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZSCorrection: I didn't put the original version 7 back on. What a mistake that would have been.. I put 7.0.2.16 on, the version directly preceding 7.1. You can get it here: http://www.filehippo.com/download_itunes/?1774

GTX570 crashes during games/3D - tried everything
Hi,
I got a fresh computer :
Cooler Master CM690II Advanced
MSI P67A-C45
Core I5 2500K
Noctua NH-U12P
2x2 PC1600 GSKILL
MSI GTX570 1go
ANTEC HCG-620W
Win7 64bits
And since 1 week it worked perfectly. But today, it has suddenly got an error while playing SC2 and I could not launch and play a game or an application which involves 3D...
I can run the bench of Afterburner for hours and can't run SC2 or League Of Legends without any freeze (the game still continues as I can hear the sound).
I put Afterburner CC on 732 / Shader Clock 1464 / Memory Clock 1900.
When I attempted the windows bench, it freezes and the screen became black. When I put the speed fan% at 85, the windows bench worked perfectly. I tried on SC2/LOL but even with a speed fan% set at 85, it freezes before the black screen.
So, I have read to update the drivers, to rollback to another version, to try directX11/directX10 etc. It does not work !
Do you have any solution please ? Is it an hardware problem which requires to get the card back to the seller ?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Best Regards,
AceHi Svet,
Thanks for your quick answer. I did :
Drivers removal with Driver Sweeper in Win7 Safe Mode;
Install lastest driver 275.50 (beta) from Nvidia;
Re-install DirectX11;
===> The windows bench was passed perfectly 7.5 (7.5/7.9/7.9/7.6 SSD FTW) ! There is a hope, I am going to try LOL (when the queue will be passed -1hour? :D) and SC2. Gonna give a feedback asap.
Thanks,
Ace -
Computer Freezes during games - crash logs included - help?
My PowerMac has been crashing during WC3 and Halo (1.5.2) for the last six months or so. I though it might be hardware, but I switched out my PM Dual 2.0 for a PM Dual 2.5 with my Dad, and the only things I kept were the hard drives and airport card. Still they freeze and force restart. I just erased my hard drive and installed Leopard from scratch. SAME PROBLEM, even though in most cases I reinstalled fresh versions of software (and only a limited amount). I pulled Halo and WC3 from my backup instead of reinstalling, knowing that I've reinstalled them each several times previous from scratch and still had the same problem. Can you help?
Thanks

29/12/07 4:26:50 PM Dock116 _DESCRegisterDockExtraClient failed 268435459I've got 2.5 gig of memory, both games are Leopard compatible (and had the exact same problem in Tiger), and all have current patches. I also own both games, so I know it's not about downloading some faulty bits for P2P or anything like that. I also have 75 GB of available memory out of a possible 300 GB, so it's not that there's a lack of space causing problems. As I mentioned, I erase/installed a fresh OS. I've turned off airport, alternated between hard drives, tried creating a new user account, even ejected my backup hard drive in case that was gumming things up. Permissions and repairs are A-OK.
I finally found a thread that suggested there some issue with dual processors and 3D games, though primarily the people who were talking about it were Intel users, many of whom were playing games through BootCamp and Parallels. Nothing helpful there.
Any more thoughts? -
2.2 crashed During palying game
my new 2.2 OS has been crashed during playing game and the game is a free app from app store. I am so confused, I do not remember even the name of the game. I'v tried to restore my phone but Itunes has stopped at "restore iphone software". please somebody help me!
my phone is 8G 1.1.4 updated to 2.2I normally get this sort of crash during crop and rotate actions - which I was doing prior to switching to the clone brush.
So, my guess would be that the Crop/Rotate tool is still the culprit and does something to Lightroom's stability. I would guesstimate that I've had 15-25 crop rotate crashes in LR 2.0, 2.1rc1 and 2.1 combined. -

Laptop Crashed During Maverick Install -- Need Help
Hello Everyone,
Before we get started, I just want to open with this info: My Macbook Pro is from 2008, and has a notorious habit of crashing... I hear what sounds like a rhythmic "ticking" sound from within the laptop, and everything on screen freezes up, and I have to do a hard-reboot. Other than that and a few graphical glitches with games, it runs seamlessly and had a good 19 GB free while attempting the update. Also to note, I have a BootCamp partition of about 30 GB for Windows XP. Additionally, I was an IDIOT and did NOT set up Time Machine or make a backup for my files, because, I repeat, I'm an IDIOT apparently.
So I had 10.6.8 installed -- Snow Leopard... and I heard there was a new free update to 10.8.0: Maverick. Of course it peaked my interest and I tried to install, not realizing it could potentially brick my laptop! Shoulda done some research
Anyway, here's what happened:
The download was successful, so I rebooted my computer and initialized the installation. Everything was fine, it said it would take about 50 minutes (even though it took a LOT longer)... and the install got not even half way before my computer crashed, with the infamous ticking sound. I was like, "oh sh**" because everyone knows that a crash during a major install is not good news. After I restarted the computer, it opened up the Maverick install again immediately, and attempted to retry... but within 10 minutes, an error pops up: "Install failed: OS X can’t be installed on the disk, because a recovery system can’t be created. Visit www.apple.com/support/no-recovery to learn more."
Of course at this point, I'm confused. I have no idea what that means. So I try to reboot to see if it would help, and the same error occured twice more.
This time, when I rebooted, I held Alt-Option to see if I could just select my HD drive and bypass the install. Nope. The only options were this: "Windows Partition, Maverick OSX Install, recovery-(something something)"... my HD drive wasn't even listed! This made me nervous. So, I selected the recovery disk option and it opened a menu with a few options, including reinstalling OSX, disk utility... etc. So I selected disk utility. I then proceeded to select my HD drive, and click "repair" in the first aid tab. It took about 10-15 minutes, but it successfully finished, giving me a green "Disk seems ok" message. This was a bit of relief. But now that the disk is repaired, how do I access it and exit the endless loop of Maverick installation? Do I need to reinstall OSX with my original disk/Snow Leopard disk?
Please help me recover my HD drive... I desperately need my laptop for school.
Thanks in advance. If you need any more additional info on my computer, I will be happy to try and provide it.if you have no install disk, best to do fsck. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214 hopefully that will do something for you. when you say it "freezes" at startup it is hard to know what to tell you. there are different types of screens that occur with startup issues. this is an incredible article for startup issues--http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106464. do not worry that it says "10.3.9 or earlier". these steps are reliable for tiger as well. i hope that works for you.[:)]
