5.0.4 : Objects Vanishing - PLEASE HELP!

Placed, dragged or created objects (images, text, vectors) are mysteriously disappearing in the latest version of inDesign, but only on certain pages. It appears to happen very randomly. Once they vanish they cannot be selected using the selection tool, however, a 'select all' will show their edges. Once selected this way, they can be made to re-appear by making a modification to them - for instance, adding a stroke. However, after saving and re-opening the document, they are once again invisible. I have tried a number of things to fix this, all to no avail:
1) delete prefs and plist files
2) flatten files so there is no transparency or alpha
3) save images in jpeg, png and other formats
4) eliminate transparency on specific pages
5) placing images, or alternately dragging them
Anyone have any ideas? It is officially killing me.

Buko, CS3 was actually the first version to supposedly support Leopard, CS2 was not, but CS3 was. Though CS4 does it much better.

In OSX you cannot allocate memory to any application (except Photoshop where you can set a percentage of the total amount of RAM that Photoshop will use, which isn't the same thing). Even if you have 10GB RAM, applications do not support the use of that many. Photoshop for instance will only use around 3GB maximum. Most have an upper limit in the application itself. Also, the use of existing RAM is also affected by how many applications (and which) you run at the same time as you run InDesign. OSX allocates as much ram as it can access and needs for the tasks to be done all by itself. There is nothing you can do about it yourself except not running multiple memory hogging applications at the same time.

Animating an object issue, please help!

Hey all!
I am very new to Motion and everything I have learned I have learned online so please be patient! lol
Anyway, I am animating an object for a stop motion project. The issue I am having is coming when I need the object to remain stationary for a few frames and then all of a sudden jump to a new position.
Instead of jumping to where I place it, it seems to animate it frome the first frame where it was remaing still and sliding to the position I need it to jump to over the duration of the frames where it remains still. How can I prevent this?

The animation you are seeing between the frames is the interpolation, Motion calculating the changes between keyframes. To do what you want, you need to change the method of interpolation between keyframes.
What it sounds like you want is "Constant" interpolation.
Take a look at this section of the Motion manual (you may want to review the whole secion on keyframing in the manual: http://help.apple.com/motion/mac/5.0/en/motion/usermanual/#chapter=12%26section= 12
In the keyframe editor, select the keyframe that you want to hold. Right-click over the keyframe and go to the Interpolation options in the contextual menu. Select "Constant". This will hold the value until the next keyframe.

Cannot query varray of object types-please help

I am attempting to query the "diminfo" field of the view "MDSYS.all_sdo_geom_metadata". The field is "described" as MDSYS.SDO_DIM_ARRAY, which I believe is a varray of MDSYS.SDO_DIM_ELEMENT.
I have run OTT to generate the class files, but nothing is generated for the MDSYS.SDO_DIM_ARRAY "type" (maybe because it's not really a type?). A class is generated for the SDO_DIM_ELEMENT objects.
Anyway, I have tried to query the field using both "VALUE(diminfo)" and "REF(diminfo)":
select VALUE(diminfo) from all_sdo_geom_metadata;
- or -
select REF(diminfo) from all_sdo_geom_metadata;
and I get back an ORA-904 "invalid identifier". When I remove the "VALUE" or "REF" from the query, the error goes away, and is replaced by an ORA-32162 "Read/Write method not registered" further down in the code when I try to retreive the value from the recordset:
myDimInfo = rSet->getObject(1);
Since the field type (MDSYS.SDO_DIM_ARRAY) isn't really an object type, I can see why the "Read/Write method not registered" occurs-there are no methods to register.
Can someone provide a code snippet of how to perform this query?

I am using OTT generated objects to pass them to my PL/SQL procedures as OUT parameters. When I call the registerOutParam() function, I get this error ORA-32162: Read/Write SQL method not registered.
I am calling my mapping function after creating environment and before creating my stateless connection pool. But still I am getting this exception at runtime while calling registerOutParam().

Please note that I do not get this error when I don't use any connection-pooling mechanism. DBMS_REDEFINITION dependent objects issue , please help.....

Today I have tried with DBMS_REDEFINITION package, I'm successfully partitioning the existing table, but there are some dependent objects are missing after completing the redefinition package.
Im Using 11g R2.
Please assist me , in which stage it went wrong, Actually my table is have around 12 dependent procedures, functions, Synonyms how ever, after completing the redefinition when i query the all_dependancies I m getting only 9 objects with correct status.
Please suggest me that what happened to remaining 3 dependent objects. Its a bit urgent.
Steps I followed:
1.Created a bkp table of same as existing table A.
2.EXEC Dbms_Redefinition.Can_Redef_Table(USER, 'A'); ---No errors got.
3.DBMS_REDEFINITION.start_redef_table(uname      => USER, orig_table => 'A',int_table => 'A_BKP'); ----No errors
4. dbms_redefinition.sync_interim_table(

Please tell me whats wrong with this steps , its a bit urgent, any fruther steps to be taken ?

No I have checked that missing objects there are present in the DB and when i query in All_dependancies with that referenced name, it will giving less rows than original

If you have Final Cut Studio, there are two extra disks labelled "Live Type Media".
If you have Final Cut Express, Look on your Installer disk, the media files should be on there.

My 8,614 photos have vanished - please help!

I opened up iPhoto and it is as empty as the day I bought the laptop. Frustratingly I was days away from spending a whole day backing them all up which would have been a nightmare of a task, I am just hoping that they are hiding in some file somewhere but I've had a good look already.
The only thing giving me hope is that I don't seem to have gained an extra GB of space which surely I would have done if they have all vanished?
Any ideas folks?

Sounds like a damaged database file:
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and point it at the Library in your Pictures Folder. If iPhoto sees a valid Library there it will open it.
If not: Try these in order - from best option on down...
1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
2. Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new *iPhoto 08* library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Events and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
In the iPhoto Preferences -> Events Uncheck the box at 'Imported Items from the Finder'
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Event Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.
Backing up 8,000 pics is not “ a nightmare of a task”. I back up 22k pics hourly every day.
Simply: get an external HD and copy your iPhoto Library to it. Job Done. To keep it up to date use an app that will do incremental back ups such as DejaVu. There are many, many other options. Search on MacUpdate.
If you have any value in your pics you won’t wait to back up.

If SaveOption doesn't have setTimeZone method, then my best guess is that either Serialization.jar file is from a version older than it should be, or rasapp.jar is newer than it should be - there might be a mixing of jar files from different versions of the RAS SDK. I'd recommend cleaning out the jars and copying then anew from the installation folder.

Caching the web pages using an application server...Please help

Hi all.
I have an application developed using Struts 1.1 which uses JBoss 4.0.2 as an application server.
In this application user is required to enter a valid url and my application fetches the web page pointed by this url
and render the same after doing some pre-processing.
I want to implement caching of pages on server so that if a different user requests with the same url that was earlier issued, that time my application should render the web page that was cached earlier. (so that i can avoid connecting to that url, fetching the page and further pre-processing).
One of the way i know is to use "application" object, which can be shared among multiple users.
Are there any other efficient ways ? What about the performance if i use application object ?
Please help as i am stuck with this.

Using the application scope is one way to do it.
I would recommend writing a CacheControl bean to handle this for you (or re-using an existing cache object)
You can put that bean into the application scope. Just to keep things neat and tidy.
How that bean then caches web pages is up to you
- Store them in memory (I would recommend a LinkedHashMap in LRU mode)
- Store them to disk - less memory intensive, a bit slower but can store more
How are you going to determine if a page is "the same"?
I think you should also consider the "no-cache" tags that a page may send with itself.
Caching can drive web application drivers nuts, as the page actually DOES change on every request.

you need to think "is it possible for 2 threads to acces this Hashmap at the same time?"
ok, so whats a thread, well you can make your own threads and set em running, if any 2 instances of any thread acces a Hashmap then (unless you have some other mechanism to "synchronize" them) then you really should synchronize
another way you can experience threads is if your program uses GUI for user input.. every event (click or key press) triggers a thread, if these actions acces a Hashmap, then you need to synchronize
note that not all accesses need to be synchronized, if you only ever read from the Hashmap, then you dont need it, but if at any time any thread modifies its structure then if you dont synchronize (even the read methods) you are asking for problems
the simplest way to synchronize is...synchronize(theHashmap){
... //block of code that accesses or modifies theHashmap
}

The icon indicates an item that is available for download. This is usually because it has been downloaded previously by the account you are logged in under and will not be charge again for the download. See the following article, while it references iTunes for Mac and not iOS, it is the same.

If all what you are interested is Scott schema than no need to use the datapump or CTAS. Run demobld.sql in your schema and it would have all the objects of Scott.

Please help about Report Printer and PS tables-objects . ..

Hi everybody
I'm in trouble. I have a requirement in PS módule related with reports created by the Report Printer tool. I don't have any idea about these topics.
My requirement is to create a report (not with Report Printer) with the structure for projects, with all the structure Project-WBS-Network-Activity and with some values like Budget, Commit, Actual, Paid, etc.
The functional consultant only tells me about some reports created with Report Printer wich have the columns required, some report has the Budget, other one has the Commit, etc. For example, one report is the tcode S_ALR_87013532; i don't know if this transaction exists in all the SAP implementations or if it was created only for my company.
These reports only show two levels (Project-Network) so i i have to investigate:
1. How to get all the structure levels (project-WBS-network-activity)
2. How to 'translate' in code some value showed in a report created with Report Printer, i guess these values are created with formules and objects.
3. How to get the same values showed in these reports, but for the Networks and Activities.
I do not know anything about PS module and Report Printer and i really don't have any idea about how to make my development.
4. I think the functional consultant could be able to create the report himself with the Report Printer, but he tells me he does not manage this tool so good and he wants to send SAP mails with the reports, and he say the reports created with Report Printer can not send mails. Is this true ? and then, would be easier for me to learn Report Printer and create the report myself instead to develop it ?
Does somebody can help me ? Any idea ?
Please help !! I don't know even how to start with this.

JS CS5.5-Moving Selected Objects-Please Help!!

I have a scritpt that will apply a certain object style to the selected items in the document. I am trying to add a "move" to this scirpt. I would like every item selected in the document to move down .125 inches. I know this is much simpler than I think it is, I've always had trouble with bounds in scripts. If anyone could please help me with this, I'd greatly appreciate it.

This changes the scriptPreferences, not the viewPreferences, which means that even if you screw up and don't set it back, it does not affect the user. It also means it is one variable to change and not two. We take care to save the units and set them back, so other scripts and users are not affected. We even use a try/finally block so that if an error condition is thrown by the move, we reset the measurement unit afterwards anyhow.
Lastly, unlike csm_phil, I don't cancel the selection at the end. I didn't see Danny asking for that and I don't think it's what you would want.
