5.1.1 to 6.0.1 upgrade then some SMS were vanishing

I have an iPhone 4 with 5.1.1 then I upgraded to 6.0.1 but I had a problem in the text messages.,
I had some SMS's with a name instead of a number in the sender field. For example my comapny sends me some information by SMS.
What I have noticed is that when I open the Messages App. I can see the list of senders and underneath a smaller sized portion of the last SMS, which is normal. BUT when I open it, It's empty. When I go back to the list of senders I can not see the sender anymore. unless it sends me another message.
Is it a problem with iTunes because of the restore proccess?! or iTunes doesn't back up such messages?!

Hi,
The current licenses will work on the upgraded version.
Simply follow the upgrade procedure and the licneses will be ok on the new version.

Ive just upgraded my late 2009 macbook, and things are not working properly. First of all, when I started the computer first time after installing Mountain Lion, some message advised me that some files were impossible to install. Once I wrote my password, and for now on, everytime I start the session, another window advise me that "Java SE 6" is missing, due that, the computer can't run some "CS5Service Manager". If I try to install it, the download ends with an error. If finally, you skip the istallation, you arrive to the dock, but the menu bar at the top of the screen doesn't show up.
In addition, my trackpad doesn't works either. I can move the arrow but i can't click anywhere, probably because the option of clicking by touching is disabeled and I can't performance a regular click.
I'll be very glad if someone know what the heck is happening with my computer. Anyway, I'm going to the genius bar next Saturday. Thx!

From the OP: "My old computer got a virus and when that happened all my music was lost. "
They don't have the music on their computer so they cannot transfer the iTunes folder, from the computer to their iPod and then to the new computer. And if they try to enable disk use on the iPod it will erase all the music that is on it. The method you cited is moving the files in a data format using the iPod as a flash drive. It doesn't work if they are in music format. That is why I suggested Yamipod.

  • I no longer get my bookmarks in my dropdown menu on my yahoo tool bar plus i cannot add or delete apps on my yahoo toolbar.i believe this all started w/ a firefox upgrade of some sort.

i no longer get my bookmarks in my drop down menu on my yahoo tool bar plus i cannot add or delete apps on my yahoo toolbar. i have emailed yahoo and they said it is not their trouble & to call at&t and i called att and they said not their trouble go back to yahoo .......but i believe this all started w/ a firefox upgrade of some sort.

I know you can't help with my Yahoo problem, however, apparently at some time in the past I have went to the Sync and tried to figure it out on both my laptop and my desktop, because I have the long snyc key information. However, when I go to try to sync both computers I never get the box to enter that key on either one. That is my problem. So should I try and get a new sync key and see if that works.

Is your Apple Intel-based, poppelmacbook?  If not, you should consider treating yourself to a new Mac. Last December I gave up my old because it just could not update...anything because it was not Intel-based.  Updating everything on this OS to 10.9 has been confusing for me, but I just could not work with that old Mac because the updates were too smart? for my 10.6.  It is upstairs now...for visiting family:  games, garage band, etc.--things I never did use.  Apple refurbished and purchase the extended warranty.  Apple loyalist since late 1980's.

-1.The photo library needs to be upgraded to work with this version of iPhoto.
Your photo library will not be readable by previous versions of iPhoto after the upgrade. The upgrade process for very large libraries may take an hour or more to complete.

  • I have a Mac book pro on vesion 10.6.8 and want to access icloud as it works great on my iphone 4.  Not sure best way to upgrade as some of the review of Lion on the appstore are awful.  Any advice

I have a Mac book pro on vesion 10.6.8 and want to access icloud as it works great on my iphone 4.  Not sure best way to upgrade as some of the review of Lion on the appstore are awful.  Any advice as I also have MIcrosoft word etc and don't want to have to purchase these again.

That is the best list ever for Lion compatibility!
    You can also do this:
Launch the programs you know and love on your Snow Leopard Mac.
    Utilities --> Activity Monitor
Under the "Kind" tab it will identify the programs running PowerPC, Intel and Intel 64.
No PowerPC apps will run under Lion.
Don't worry about Apple's system stuff like Mail, iCal, Safari.
Don't worry about the system processes, like fontd and launchd, those will be replaced if you go to Lion.
Just look for the programs that you need.

  • Voice Memos grayed out after iOS 8 upgrade, then restore

    Hello all,
As others have stated, I lost ALL my voice memos after upgrading my iPhone 5c (don't judge) to iOS 8. Simple enough, restore right? Wrong. Restored the iCloud backup from a few days ago, pre iOS 8 update. "Got" the data back, at least everything looked right....except the OS is still iOS 8, not 7 (fine), but when I open Voice Memos I now SEE my recordings, but they are all greyed out and I can't play them or send them to myself to save them. I'm a songwriter and I have valuable demo material here I really don't want to lose. Any help appreciated!!

Well, nevermind! I guess the restore just hadn't finished because now all is back to normal!

  • MacBook 3,1 running really slowly. Upgrade of some sort, or time buy a new computer?

    Hi,
I hope someone can help me make a decision on this. I have a 2007ish white MacBook 3,1. It's been really great and never had any problems (or upgrades) until about a year ago, when I noticed its speed really slowing down. It finally became intolerable, and it was also dropping my wifi connection constantly, so I decided to try wiping the whole thing clean and doing a fresh install of Snow Leopard. Everything went great, but it made zero improvement in anything except the wifi dropping. It's still really slow, especially when I try to run more than one program at once (for example, Chrome and Spotify, or Chrome and Word), and sometimes even multiple open tabs in Chrome will cause it to freeze up. Our internet is fine with every other device in the house, and it's even slow with offline programs.
I've run the Disk Utitlity, and everything is fine there.
I'm starting to think it's just the end of the line for this machine, but I'm hoping you all might have some ideas. More RAM? New...something or other? I work freelance, and my income depends on this machine. It's not a great time to drop a lot of cash on a new one, but I also don't want to throw money at it and need a new one anyway.
Thanks so much for any input you might have!
    Amanda

I have 4gb of ram and a 250gb SSD in my MacBook. Running 10.6.8 it absolutely flies! The SSD is the best upgrade I've ever done. You might run disk utility to check the SMART status of your hard drive just to make sure it's running ok. As far as upgrading the hard drive that' entirely up to you but I would go with an SSD instead. If you do though you might want to look for drives with a SATA II interface, your Mac has SATA I and will work with SATA II but may not with the newer SAA III drives. OWC http://eshop.macsales.com/ is a good place to look for upgrades that are guaranteed to work with your Mac.

  • After upgrading to 3.6.8 our desktop will no longer connect to our DSL system. It downloaded and installed the upgrade then refused to connect. Help!

Background: our desktop computer started shutting off sporadically. I researched the problem, reset the memory chip, checked battery voltage on the motherboard (it was okay), resinserted the battery and tried to boot. It started up successfully and connected to the internet via our DSL line. FF had trouble opening pages due to security certificates so I checked to see if upgrades were available (3.6.8 was) and I downloaded and installed it. After that it refused to work. Apparently a setting somewhere got changed but I don't know what it might be. The DSL connection works with other computers which are wireless (the desktop has a hard connection.) Operating system is Windows XP. Other browsers do not work.

Turn off your firewall and antivirus software.

  • Upgraded iTunes, some artwork no longer works

I did the auto-upgrade of iTunes, and now a couple of albums that I had downloaded the artwork for (AC/DC's Back In Black, Highway To ****, a couple of After Forever albums...) disappeared, and when I try to add them manually they still don't show up afterwards.
Any ideas on how to fix this? It was only 5 albums, and all 5 were from artists that started with the letter 'A', so my guess is that the 'new' version of iTunes I downloaded is corrupted slightly.
Is there any way to go back to my old version of iTunes, or some way of contacting Apple and letting them know what's what, other than paying their $29 extortion...I mean, 'help' fee?

I downloaded the newest version of itunes and it deleted and altered much of my album artwork that I spent hours correcting a few months ago from downloaded albums. I now have to go back and update all of those albums again. It also deleted album artwork from at least 1 song across 30 to 40 albums that I had to go back and manually correct. Very annoying!

  • Firmware upgrade, then lost

    Hi,
Quickly following automatic firmware upgrade on 1 week old Time capsule, network is now lost. Airport set up utility can't find Time Machine .. others experience the same problem? TM feels hot .. perhaps overheated due to firmware upgrade. Solutions welcome.

Your computer came with OS 9.0.4 installed. OS9.1 is required for Classic so is handy to have, and apparently your firmware installer requires 9.2.1 You can use free updaters to update to any later OS9 version from any earlier one.
I don't see any option but to obtain a used copy of OS9. Make sure you get the gold full retail version rather than a machine specific version since the latter will only work in those computers for which they were designed. You can get away with a machine specific version as long as it exactly corresponds to the model and build of yours, but that is often hard to confirm until too late in the purchase.
Note that any drive you want to use with OS9 either for purposes of installing OS9 or for running software will have to have OS9 drivers present on it. These are installed when you format a drive and cannot be installed later without reformatting the drive (and losing everything on it). If your computer still has its original drive then those will likely still be on there unless you reformatted the drive with OSX and did not select the keep OS9 drivers option (there's no harm in doing so and it saves a lot of trouble for doing exactly what you are trying to do). You can can have a drive present that doesn't have the drivers but it simply won't be seen by OS9.
Disconnect all third party hardware (including PCI cards) when updating the firmware.
