5.1.2 Audio bug with AIFF files
I've encountered a strange bug after upgrading to 5.1.2 today. I have 3 Macs with FCP (all upgraded to 5.1.2 today). Was working on a project at work on one of them today and everything worked fine. I imported an AIFF file and decreased the levels on it as part of the project.
When I brought my project home (I use hot swap hard drives), I went to adjust the levels of that same AIFF file within my project. However, the viewer pane went half black, it did not show me any bit of the audio file and it's peaks. However, I could still adjust the levels. It just seemed to be that there was some sort of video display bug when I tried to adjust the AIFF file in the viewer.
I looked at some other audio files (recorded through the voiceover control) and they appeared fine in the viewer. Only AIFF files gave me this bug. To try and remedy the problem I tried other AIFF files and also tried restarting the project, etc. Nothing cleared up this problem though. Anyone else experience this?

Audio bug with WAV files: use mp3, not wav for syncing long audio files
Just a tip:
I've noticed another audio bug in Presenter (including 7.05) but there is a workaround. I often export the audio as a single, long clip from pre-recorded lecture videos, and sync it with the powerpoint slides in Presenter. I've found it easiest to import the long audio file into the first slide, then sync using the Edit Audio window. I find that much easier to use than the Sync audio window.
However, If you use WAV format for the imported audio file, sometimes Presenter will simply refuse to play back anything beyond about 5 minutes into the timeline in the Edit Audio window. Nothing fixes it - restarting, re-importing, etc. However the problem goes away if you save the audio as mp3.

How can I extract only the audio as an aiff file?
Using a Sony DSC-N2 Cybershot Camera I recorded video that was saved as “MOV01606.MPG”. The video plays back with sound in Quicktime Pro and iTunes but how can I extract only the audio as an aiff file?
Use MPEG Streamclip (free) to convert your .mpg files to QuickTime formats.
QuickTime can't extract audio from muxed file formats. -

HT203164 Why would iTunes burn a CD with AIFF files that don't play music?
I have been trying to burn a particular song to a CD to prepare for a performance. I own the song as a purchased song in iTunes, as part of an album. I wanted to brun one for the piano player and one for me to practice to.
I had one fail and was successful the second time. Then I have had several successive failures. I have tried varying the burn preferences a bit.
I am near the end of a large package of CompUSA brand CD-R media.
The weird thing is, the discs that are "failures" have AIFF files on them and when you GET INFO on them they read normal file sizes. But, when you try to play them in iTunes they take about one second to play with no sound. In a CD player you just get an error code.
I have tried burning at the "maximum possible" speed, which is the default, and at 8X and I have tried unchecking the "CD Text" option. I have also changed the seconds bewtween songs option. No difference.
Over the last two years, going through this large package of CD-R's, I am used to getting occasional failures. I just would toss the disc and then the next one would be good. But those would have nothing on them. Do you think this is bad media, a bad optical drive, or something else?
BTW, the computer is a 2008 15" MacBook Pro, running 10.7.5, and iTunes 10.7(21).
Thanks!Strictly speaking an audio CD is not AIFF files, it's a 30 year old standard called Red Book.
I would say bad media is likely. Normally I'm all for generics, except in optical media you really risk coasters. I have Dynex brand DVDs and I think at least 25% show a burn failure. Likely your CompUSA may have come from the same factory.
Bad media could be coupled with burner issues. Maybe dust in the burner, or too fast a burn speed.

Audio Problems with Prores444 file (preview and render)
I'm having this problem, I have a number of prores4444 files with audio that I exported from redCine. The audio plays fine in quicktime, but when I import into AE something goes wrong. I can see what apears to be the correct waveform in the Audio chanel, but when I atempt to preview, or I render with audio, everything just sounds like static or white noise. Is ths an AE bug?
You need to be more specific. What version of AE? What version of QT? On which tracks is the audio? Sample and bit rates?

2.1 Bug with uploaded files?
Hi,
I'm not sure if we're posting bugs to the forum but i'll just post it up here anyway..
I'm using HTMLDB 2.1 running on Oracle Express and uploaded a javascript file (into 'static files') so that i could reference it from a page.
My page was working fine when all of a sudden the page started to produce an error. The error was being caused by the fact that it could no longer find the javascript file (i'd been using it and testing it fine for an hour or so with no errors)..
The file was was referenced from the page as :-
<script language="javascript" src="#FLOW_IMAGES#LinkMenu.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
When I looked in the 'static files' section my javascript file was no longer listed. I thought that maybe I had accidentally deleted it (I was 99.9% sure i hadnt ) .. so I tried to upload it again but received a 'unique constraint violated'..
Looking in WWV_FLOW_HTML_REPOSITORY it seems that my file still had an entry and yet did not appear in 'static files' view..
I've sorted it out now but thought I'd just post my rather unusual problem.
Cheers,
Paul Ashton.Well, I was wondering if I was being hasty using the word 'bug' (sorry to those who it may offend ;) )..
So, I'll accept some 'operator' error for this... however its probably still worth sharing..
I found the cause of the problem to be an unqualified delete on the htmldb_application_files 'table'... this is the erroneous statement :-
DELETE FROM htmldb_application_files;
-- WHERE name=:P18_FILENAME;
I'm working on a new file upload/management application and I had mistakenly commented out the WHERE clause. However, it did leave me in the odd situation of the record still remaining in the WWV_FLOW_HTML_REPOSITORY table that resulted in the unique constraint violation...
Cheers,
Paul Ashton. -
Video freezing, audio continues with .mov files
I just tried taking video with a new Kodak M1033HD camera, which it creates .mov files. When I play the .mov video file on the camera is works fine. But when I try playing it on my computer (using Quicktime as well as Windows player (using Vista OS), the video freezes, stutters, stops and starts, but the audio plays right through perfectly. Any ideas what might be wrong and how to fix it?
Thanks,
JayThis sounds similar to what I reported in, "Problem viewing video in QuickTime 7.5.5" http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1864506&tstart=105
Sorry that I don't have a good answer yet.

No audio track with AVCHD files (shot on Panasonic HMC-70)
I've read quite a few treads and cannot figure this out. I have a standalone version of Premiere CC 7.0.0 (342) installed in my computer lab at school.
I tested the software with a creative cloud trial and AVCHD files worked fine.
This version does not show audio tracks in files dragged in from Media Browser (as suggested here: Audio and Video glitches | AVCHD footage)
It also will not import/transcode audio with Prelude or Media Encoder. Video works fine.
I have FCPX and Compressor installed. Both playback/transcode the file with no issue. Is there a solution for Premiere/Prelude/Encoder?I tried renaming the folders, like all of them.
Not working.
The file path looks like this: Card:private/AVCHD (show package contents)/BDMV (show package contents)/STREAM/00000.MTS
I would think there would be a native format in Premiere for popular Panasonic cameras. -
Vista audio bug with DivX AC3/5.1 surrou
Been trying the 2.3 release drivers with Windows Vista x64 and a Creative X-Fi Fatalty soundcard and noticed a problem with them and DivX files. If the file is using stereo sound, no problem - but if the file is encoded with AC3 / 5. surround then the audio stream doesn't play. Anyone else noticed this problem? Or got a work-around for this?Message Edited by ChasF on 0-24-200702:46 PM

Bridge bug with .ste files?
I have been having a problem recently, with Bridge crashing. The issue has started in the past few weeks, after I downloaded some Adobe updates. I have updated my video drivers and done everything else I can think of but I continued to have the problem.
Any suggestions?Bug, not likely, but contaminated file, perhaps. If the crash happens with one folder, then purge the folder and let it rebuilt. Also, compact cache to get rid of orphans and reduce cache size.
A crash can be more likely if you change folders before the cache is finished building (spinning arrow on bottom).
Other options, defrag the hard dirve, purge all cache, reset preferences if none of this works. -
Audio Problems with .m2t files
Running Pr 5.0.3
I have been shooting HDV on my Canon XH-A1 camcorder and recording the video on my Focus FS-H200.
The resule is several large .m2t files that I copy to my PC's hard disc.
When I import them to Pr all the video is there but some files no sound and some have no sound at the end of the track
Why?when I play it with QT i can hear both channels. Any
idea how I can slove this problem?
Both channels meaning right and left? Whether or not it's a mono or stereo audio stream, They both count as one track. -
Hi all
I'm currently working on my first HD project please help! As I don't have HD capturing capability on my current machine, the footages were down converted to QT (DV-PAL) mov for offline edits. The post house doing the down-converting is using FCP 5.
When I got the files and try to bring it into FCP, there's only one audio track on every QT mov, but when I play it with QT i can hear both channels. Any idea how I can slove this problem? I'm running FCP HD 4.5.when I play it with QT i can hear both channels. Any

Problem with aiff files playback after 10.9.4 update
I use Logic and Reason to produce electronic music. Ever since I updated my system to 10.9.4 I have had issues with track playback on my iMac. It seems to be centered around the playback from online sites (i.e. Soundcloud, YouTube, Skype, etc) and Quicktime. It doesn't happen if I am using Logic, Reason, or iTunes. The playback problem is like a popping/crackling on the audio. Has anybody encountered this before? My suspicion is that the internet is using my systems Quicktime application for playback and the problem is with Quicktime. Perhaps I need to reinstall it since the update, it somehow got corrupted? TIA
I have followed the steps outlined to uninstall Office 2011, but when I try to reinstall the software I get an "installation failure" error. I'm still in limbo without access to necessary applications.
I've been reading the Microsoft forum for Office 2011 for Mac but haven't found anything helpful yet.
Thanks for any other suggestions you might have.

Huge file size when importing clips
When importing clips from my Sony Handycam (HDR TG3E) in HD 1920 X 1080 the file sizes get extremely large. A 10 minute clip results in a filesize (.mov) of approx 8 GB. Is this really meant to be? I use iMovie '08 v. 7.1.4. Would appreciate any help
