5.1 Audio - Cloned Rear Chann

My problem arises on Vista, running an X-Fi Xtreme Music (newest drivers). I just noticed last night while doing a 5. configuration test that I only seem to have one channel on both of my rear speakers. While doing the test, everything is identified as it should be except while testing the rear-left, I get output from both rear speakers at the same time. Also, when it tests the rear-right, I get no output of any sort.
This honestly blows, single channel rear output is pointless.
Any ideas?

Under Built-In Output it has Digital Out - format 44100.0 Hz - 2ch-32 bit
If I click on Configure Speakers it is set to Stereo option by default. Left Speaker is set to 1 and Right Speaker 2 - I'm guessing these are channels. If I click on Multichannel, Stereo is checked by default and all the others are grayed out. I can see 5.1 Surround but cannot choose it.

    im using the kn7420 mobo with a set of old 4.1 speakers in analog.
    before my recent windows reinstall they worked perfectly i.e. sound out of all four speakers.  now no matter which driver set i use or what options i set i cant get any sound out of the rear channel in applications.  If i use the speaker test in the nforce control panel i can get it to work with certain settings but never with winamp or any games.
    my speakers are creative fps 1600
    any help would be appreciated

    Set cloning in the new audio drivers 4.31. In AC3 filter settings set 5.1 speakers. In WinAmp go preferences-Output-DirectSound-configure set Nvidia Audio and hardware accel. (Thanks to Wonkanoby)

  • Muffled audio from rear speakers using Audigy Gamer

    I just upgraded my mobo to the asrock 939Dual-SATA2, and was using the 7. onboard audio until the buzzing/humming everytime I moved the mouse finally got to me. I also missed being able to skew the sound slightly to my rear speakers.
    I finally decided to reinstall my Audigy Gamer. I was very disappointed to discover the rear speakers playing awfully. The music is very muffled and nothing like the front speakers.
    Before I upgraded my mobo these monsoon 5. speakers played great with the audigy gamer. They also played great with the 7. onboard audio.
    Can anyone help me?

  • X-fi xtreme gamer fatal1ty lacking bass in rear chann

    Hey guys,
    I've been having trouble with my x-fi fatalty sound card. All my drivers are up to date, and I'm running Windows XP SP3. Somehow, the rear channels in my setup have little to no bass in them. I have a 5. headphone set that has really tinny bass in its surround when I use this soundcard. Also, I've tried plugging in speakers to the front ports and the rear ports, but the front connection is full sounding and the rear is tinny. Is there any way to fix this? Thanks!

    AFAIK, you can even choose individual channels when using ASIO ... i.e. as mono channels.
    FX channel means EAX ... you be able to add EAX effects for certain amount of ASIO output channels.
    You can find some info regarding Creative ASIO drivers (though this is for Audigy series cards) from here.

  • Quiet rear chann

    i have a soundblaster audigy platinum ex and the rear channels are a lot quieter than the front channels. my friend said that it is supposed to be like that...is that true. i know that i have everything plugged in correctly and i have the latest drivers

    Go to the EAX console and click on the CMSS tab. There you should have a slider that orients the sound to either the front, back or smack dab in the middle. Most likely your slider is more towards the front, thus orienting the sound towards the front speakers. Try that. Also, in the volume tab, you can change individual speaker volumes... make sure your rear speakers are up as loud as your front ones. BTW, your friend is wrong. The rear ones should be just as loud as the front ones, bra. Lemme know if this fixed the problem.

  • Converting 2 channel audio from AVCHD to 5.1 audio for bluray

    Hello,
    I am looking to put AVCHD video files (*.MTS) containing 5.1 audio and 2-channel (stereo) audio onto bluray.  I would like to convert the 2 channel audio to 5.1 audio, so that all of the files can be encoded onto bluray with 5.1 audio in Encore. I am using Premiere Pro CS6 version 6.0.3.  I have tried to bring the MTS files into Premiere Pro, and convert stereo audio to 5.1 using Audition.  However when the file is exported to Encore, upon transcoding there is no audio.    Please let me know what is the best way to resolve this.  Also, would I require something like Surcode plugin, or are there other ways to get around this?  Thanks.

    sorry it doesn't -  it confuses me and I don't get why you want to do it this complicated way ;-)
    1. If you have problems try to simplify your workflow. Why do you try to work with dynamic link in Encore? This isn't the classic route and I don't see why you need it in this case.
    2. In a classical workflow you load  final encoded audio and video files in Encore - in this case a .m4v and a .ac3 file encoded in Adobe Media Encoder.
    3. To get this files you create a Premiere timeline with 5.1 master audio and load your clips onto it.
    For all 5.1 clips Premiere will create a 5.1 audio track. For all stereo clips Premiere will create a stereo audio rack.
    --> Keep in Mind you can't export a premiere audio track. That isn't possible even though this would be handy in a lot of situations. You alway only export the master audio track of a timeline. That master audio track get's it input from all audio tracks of a timeline. If there is a 5.1 audio track 6 channes are mixed to the master audio - if it's only a stereo track only L, R get's mixed up to the 5.1 master.
    The master audio track is what you can hear if you play back a timeline.
    4. Why do you want to convert stereo audio tracks into 5.1 audio tracks in the timeline? It needs much more filesize/ ram slows down your playback and gives you a unhandy viewing with lots of emty audio channels... Why dont store and view a stereo track as a stereo track?
    5. If you have placed your stereo and 5.1 audio tracks on the timeline you can export the final mix via Adobe Media Encoder with the Surcode plugin as Dolby Digital 5.1 .ac3

    That doesn't make any sense... because Premiere does it automatically for you without Audition. You simply have to do nothing - just place your stereo clip on the timeline and ready.
    If you want to use Audition you have to have a real reason for it - for example do extensive audio work and mastering Tasks - conform it to R128 loudness or something like that.
    Does this make sense to you? ;-)

  • MSI P965 Platinum - Front Panel Audio u/s

    Finally after managing to get XP Pro SP1 CD to install, I have a stable system, and thanks to those whom freely gave advice.
    But we hit the next issue with this motherboard, the front panel audio.
    Firstly the Realtek detection software doesn't detect anything plugged into the front panel.
    Connected the cables as follows from my Coolermaster Stacker case;
    mobo                = case wires/colour
    pin1 aud-mic      = mic-in - yellow
    pin2 aug-gnd      = gnd - black
    pin3 aud-mc-bas = mic-pwr - red
    pin4 aud-vcc      = empty
    pin5 aud-fpout-R = R out - green
    pin6 aud-ret-R    = R ret - green
    pin7 hp-on          = empty
    pin8 key
    pin9 aud-fpout-L = L out - white
    pin0 aud-ret-L    = L ret - white
    The above pin out gives nothing at all, but audio from rear ports on the computer motherboard is fine.
    I also tried the following,
    where the microphone wires were left disconnected, therefore just the speakers plugged into the front panel audio header
    mobo                = case wires/colour

    I have removed the front panel from the computer to ensure that the wires terminate OK, and have not been pulled out/off.
    Have I plugged in the wires correctly?
    Is there some hidden setting that I have missed, I admit that I do not like the Realtek audio software?
    I cannot find any way to boost the microphone input since Realtek audio software has been installed.
    One day case/mobo manufactures will use a standard for the front panel headers and front panel audio headers, and we will have a simple single plug to insert, rather than a group of single fiddly connectors that have to be attached to a header that was at the last minute attached to the motherboard as far away from the front of the case, and in the darkest most fiddle corner.
    Oh well......

    AaronYuri - you're are so right there my friend.  I just pity Joe User whom might attempt such a move themselves.
    In the end my entire issue was software related, and that has to be blamed on Realteks software, far too many options approached from far too many different angles. Audio is really simple, plug your cables in, and it should just work, certainly in the simple case of 2-1 speakers and a microphone. Why exactly it took a couple of hours to figure out how to get the front panel microphone to be seen in the first place, let alone any signal, is beyond me.
    So my cables were all connected correctly as per the MSI manual, confirmed by my Abit manual and other post here and on other forums.
    In the Realtek MSI audio software, on the I/O Audio tab, connector settings, I had to select 'disable front panel jack detection' and 'mute rear panel output when front headphones plugged in'. The other option here 'enable auto pop up...' is unchecked.
    After this the Realtek software mentioned something about a new profile had been set up?
    I then went to Windows Control Panel, Sounds and Audio devices, and selected the voice tab, on this page I selected 'mic IN at front panel [pink]' from the drop down list for Voice Recording'. Proceeded to 'test hardware' and the microphone is now working. This option to select the input in the drop down list was not available before.
    All a bit of POKE and HOPE.
    But we seem to be there.

  • Fronta panel audio connections on KM4M

    I got a pc case, and the cables for the front panel audio are: left  , right , mic, and ground. The front panel works fine, but the rear ports dont.
    What should i do to make it work?
    Maybe conect left in with left out and right in with right out?

    There must be a return from fron panel audio for rear ports to work
    What i did was to solder a piece of solid wire on the jumper, and simply plug in the front panel audio left and right in that wire and it works FINE

  • K8N Diamond Plus audio out problem

    Hi,
      I'm having an issue with the audio out on my K8N Diamond Plus. The rear audio out works fine when left jumpered. However when I connect the front panel audio connector to the mother board the volume of the rear audio out drops to an almost in audable level while the front panel audio works as expected.
    At first I thought the rear audio had been completely disabled until I tried turning my speakers all the way up.
    Is there a software issue here?
    FYI I'm trying to use the front pannel audio connection on a Silverstone TJ07 case.

    couple of things i ran into - maybe will spark some ideas
    initally i hooked up front panel audio and got nothing
    then i read on page 2-19 of manual that 5-6,9-20 have to be jumpered for rear audio to work
    but that means no front audio which was a drag - but solved that prob with usb mike and headphones
    apparently unless i am reading it wrong and someone please correct me if so, but you can have front audio OR rear audio
    BUT not both
    again look at page 2-19 in manual and specifically at text in grey box in middle of page

  • Kodi-standalone stopped working

    I've been using kodi-standalone (formerly xbmc-standalone) for a long time to start kodi when my machine boots. I just updated my system and the kodi-standalone service no longer works. When the machine boots, the screen goes black and then brings you to a terminal login prompt. I can start X just fine using the startx command, and the command used by the service works if you type it out when logged in.
    All I have to go on in is the Xorg.log.0 file which doesn't really have any helpful info.

  • The Open Sound System is not working

    I have installed and configured OSS following the Wiki, but I still get no sound. Any idea of what problem this is?

  • GPU Lockup, system crashes and reboot on Radeon op...

    Hi, I've been using the Radeon open-source driver for a while (2 weeks) on an AM1 platform. And once in a while the screen just becomes erratic (or filled with crazy lines), then just reboot itself.   • Z77A-GD65 with 3570k noobie needs some help.

    Hi Guys,
    First of all I’m very impressed by the looks of GD65, I just hope it will work as well as it looks… 
    So finally I should get my RAM tonight (4 x 4gb Sammy ECO ram).   I believe there might some issues with o/c the memory, which I believe was a ittle improved in beta bios.

    Also should I wait for Gtx670 to come in next week, or would I be able to use hdmi/dvi output from GD65 (IB HD4000 IGPU) to display 1080P on LG 32LD450 display.  I believe there were some reports only VGA output works? Is it true?   
    Also where should I get most stable NIC Intel drivers (I saw some people having problems with them) and 898 audio drivers?
    Is official 10.5 BIOS recommend or is there a “better” beta BIOS I should install (and where do I get it from)?
    I do apologize for so many questions, but I’m very scared to put this rig together with so many z77 chipset issues around…   I’m just trying to avoid “ I told you so” from my wife… LOL  I’m concern about error 55 (memory not installed), in some cases CPU installation issues.  I’m coming from several years of AMD builds… so IB it is very new to me…
    Any help would be much appreciated…

    I promise as soon as I get everything stable I will test it with 200mm fan as intake and outtake...
    I love big sinks and fans, I will post some pictures after everything is done.  My system is nothing to brag about, HAF 922 with  3 x 200mm  1 x 120mm, 1 x 140mm and Silver Arrow SB-E (dual tower) HSF.    I’m using Lampron fan controller to control fans.

    So I went to bed at 3am last night, I did go far, as I was taking updates, installing drivers, changing drive letters… etc..   
    System seems to be stable at stock/default 10.3  bios settings, all I changed was to set fans on CPU (I selected 70C to be my goal) and SYSFAN1 to run at 50% (my 140mm internal fan, which is strapped to the drive cage).   
    The NIC card seems to be working fine,  Intel IGPU video works fine (using dvi to hdmi cable). I haven’t installed any temp monitoring software so I cannot tell you how is my IB CPU. 
    The only problem I found last night was I couldn’t get any audio from rear speaker output (I tried display’s and 2.1 speakers).   The driver seems to be working, because I can see sound bar moving up and down.  Also when I connect my headphone to my front audio output, I can hear sound and I get pop up saying I have headphones connected.    When I remove headphones I get another pop up saying the headphones have been disconnected.  When I connect anything to the green output (speaker out), I get pop up saying rear speakers were detected, however there is nothing no static, noise or anything…     I tried to disable/enable device without luck.      I’ve used all drivers from MSI website, should I try to see if there are newer/older drivers?   Since I’m currently using 10.3 BIOS, should I try latest 10.5?      Have you guys heard about this problem before?      If you have any ideas please let me… I did poke around BIOS but I couldn’t find anything related to audio…   
    Overall (other than small audio hiccup) “so far” I’m very happy from my purchase…

    Hello all,
    I'm sure this topic has probably been beat into the ground, but I am using the white Macbook (purchased in 09) and I really want to connect it to my television to watch Netflix. I just purchased the television last month.
    There are a lot of posts about this topic but seem to have conflicting information. Can you someone please respond and tell me exactly what to buy(links preferably)? I really don't want to waste my time purchasing the wrong thing. I want audio and video.

  • Compatibility? TV is not widescreen, but is HD

    I have a Sony KV-32HS510 TV that I am wondering if it will be compatible with Apple TV. It's a standard format (4:3) screen, but it is HD. You have to watch the HD channels with bars across the top.
    Does anybody know if this type of TV works with Aplle TV, and what special cable I might need.

    I have a Sony KP-53HS10 which is a 4:3 projection TV that supports 1080i and 480p on its component inputs and my Sony works fine with the Apple TV. As long as you have component or HDMI inputs on your TV with a wide-screen mode (16:9) it should work. You can even use DVI if you buy an HDMI to DVI adapter (for example, I've connected my Apple TV to my Apple Cinema Display using just such an adapter). I've also connected the Apple TV to a Sharp 13" enhanced resolution LCD TV that has a 16:9 mode for compatibility with 720p and 1080i inputs (over its component inputs).
    I suspect that your TV has HD-compatible component inputs which SHOULD work with the Apple TV (not to be confused with a simple composite video input or even s-video which will NOT work).
    According to the specs on Amazon, it looks like you have a nice TV and it should definitely work with the Apple TV. Here is what Amazon says about your model:
