5.1 Audio Support for Touchsmart Laptop

Greetings! First post on this forum
I have a Touchsmart TXN-1274NR laptop. It has RealTek audio drivers that support surround sound audio (5.1, etc.). However, the laptop's only audio jacks are three jacks in the front edge of the latop, two of which are labled with a headphone symbol, and the other with a microphone symbol. Is 5.1 audio or greater supported by my hardware? If so, where do I connect the output to?
Thanks!
joe

Hi, Joe:
Welcome to the HP Consumer Support Forum.
I am not an audio expert but looking at the specs for your notebook at the link below and reading the users guide, it appears to have support for enhanced audio.
The product specs state it has Altec Lansing speakers with SRS Premium Sound
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01801117&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&cc=us&dlc=en...
I looked up what SRS Premium Sound is and it appears to describe 5.1 quality audio.
http://hothardware.com/News/SRS-Introduces-Premium-Sound-Suite-for-PCs/
Chapter 2, page 4 of the users guide indicates that the jack labeled 5 in the illustration is an S/PDIF jack and the description of the jack states:   Provides enhanced audio performance, including surround sound
and other high-end audio output.

  • Windows XP compatible Audio Driver for C770TU laptop

Hi i m using XP for my operations compatiblity, but my laptop wont have a compatible audio driver for XP. Thank full if got a proper audio driver for my laptop compatible with Windows XP...

    Hi,
Before Conexant Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) here
Conexant High Definition Audio Drivers here
This will create a swsetup folder in c drive ("C:\swsetup\sp34200")
Installing Audio drivers may result in an error. But continue with the following steps to get the audio driver installed correctly.
    Open the Device Manager:
    1. Click on Start and select Run. Now type devmgmt.msc and press enter.
    2. Right click on "Audio device on High Definition Audio Bus" and click Update driver.
    3. Select "Install from a list or specific location"
    4. Click Next. Then select "Don't search, I will choose the driver to install"
    5. Click Next and then select "Sound, video and game controller" from the list.
    6. Click Next and then click Have Disk.
    7. Click Browse C:\swsetup\sp34200 folder and select the .inf (wis30b2a) file and click open and Continue with the onscreen instructions.
    Similarly install Modem Drivers:

  • Lack of win 7 support for touchsmart iq771.uk

i upgraded to win 7 home premium 32 bit from vista home premium on a touchsmart iq771.uk. Largely went ok except for a couple of issues on drivers (audio and video related).
Trying to update drivers via HP support I find no windows 7 drivers for this touchsmart model. Why not? I managed (or rather Win 7 managed to resolve the audio issue but still needing a fix on the video). The driver which windows update keeps trying and failing to update is:
ASUSTek - Streaming Media and Broadcast - ASUSTeK LNA Tiger Hybrid Capture Device
Also why is my touchsmart software no longer compatible with my touchsmart and why can't I use touchsmart 3.0 on my machine with windows 7.  What is the point of a touchsmart if it can't run HP touchsmart software????!!!!!
I keep reading Win 7 is just Vista done properly. But obviously not if you have a HP Touchsmart
    Grateful for any help. Thanks.

  • 5.1 Audio Support for MacBook

    Hi Guys,
I intend to purchase a nice set of external speakers to boost my music and movie enjoyment. However, I'm not sure if my MB can support the 5.1 nature of the speakers. Some posts here indicate that I have to purchase the Griffin FireDrive (??) to run the cables for the 5.1 properly. Is that the only option ?
I am aware that the MB Headphone jack does in fact support Optical Out for 5.1 with Dolby, but I'm not sure what that means in a practical sense. Does it mean there is an easier and cheaper way to hook up a 5.1 sound system than getting the FireDrive ?
For instance, the speakers I'm looking at are these : Logitech Z5500 Digital
    http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/speakersaudio/home_pcspeakers/devices/224&cl=au,en
I would appreciate any feedback at all. Thanks in advance.
    Cheers,

It's the Fire WAVE. I don't know if it's the only option but it's one option. Be really careful with what you buy. There are all sorts of devices on the market which make all sorts of claim. However, I can attest that the FireWave actually works.

Yes and no. If you have a DVD with a pre-recorded 5.1 Dolby sound track, then the optical output via the headphone socket works just fine. However, it will NOT work for programs and games which generate surround sound on the fly.
If you buy a FireWave or similar then you'll be able to play DVDs AND play games with 5.1 sound, plus it's also stereo compatible.

  • Audio support for Solaris 8 x86

I had the same problem. My sound device is an nForce integrated chipset. Nvidia released sound drivers under linux but not under solaris x86. So i'm using Opensound (OSS) this is a great thing ! All sounds are perfectly played.

  • Laptop audio interface for Studio work?

I'm looking for a solid (works when you plug it in) 2 channel audio interface for my laptop. (G4, 1.67GHZ, 1gb ram, 7200rpm internal HD, LP 7.01, Tiger)
All I need it for, is to use as an output to play sounds via keyboard from Logic, for a live studio session.(Ivory piano, EVB3, synths, drum programming and etc.)
My laptop wil be used like a sound module so it would be nice to have this interface to have midi ports as well.
It doesn't have to be the best convertors in the world just want them to be clean and as good as you would find in a stock Yamaha or Roland keyboard ($2k -range).
Oh yeah - which is better?: Firewire or USB 2.0

Ooo, that is awesome, except it costs twice as much as the studio monitors! The other solutions I was looking at are in the $150 (Presonus Audiobox USB) to $190 (E-MU 0404 USB) range. I was hoping for something under $100, ideally with balanced audio. Probably too much to ask for!
But I have a question for you... do you get a lag in sync when you go through the FireWire mixer? On a different forum I was reading that if you want sync for video it's better to find an external converter that connects to the optical digital out (TOSLINK, S/PDIF) than one that connects via FireWire or USB as that means a new digital clock master. I would like not to have to worry about adjusting to get sync, but if it's less than a frame I'm not worried about it.

  • No support for dv1000 with vista?

I upgraded (?) from XP to vista ultimate and now have no audio.  "no audio device installed" it tells me.  When I attempt to repair this, HP informs me that there isn't any support for this laptop running vista.  What's up with that?  There used to be sticker on it saying it was designed for XP but vista ready.
There is one more possible cause.... When I installed the vista, I did so on a samsung 320 gig hd that I purchased from a friend.  It came for a Dell XPS something and I still have a problem or two from that.
Now my dvd writter has vanished.  I am about to attempt to reinstall that....

nevermind found my answer here: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090114155845AAzvnYB
which basically states you need to go to summary and select Manual Library Management

  • Where can I find the Audio driver for a dv9865ek on XP?

    Hi all,
HP support doesn't have the audio driver for my laptop, which is a pavilion dv9865ek with XP64 installed.
Any idea where I can find it or find out what the model of my sound card is?
    Thaks for your help.

If "Realtek High Definition Audio" is listed under the "Sound, video and game controllers" in the Device Manager then that is your sound driver. Some people have had luck with uninstalling the Realtek HD audio driver from their computer via the Device Manager (be sure to check the "Delete driver software for this "), and then reinstalling it. You can get the latest version of the Realtek HD audio driver from the Realtek download site.
Many of us who have the Realtek HD sound driver have had to make several tweaks to improve the sound. Opening the Realtek HD Manager and enabling Loudness Equalization and setting the equalizer to Powerful helps with some of the low audio issues some of us have experienced with the Realtek HD sound drivers.

  • Audio driver for G550

    HI friends,
I've downloaded my audio driver for G550 laptops for my windows Xp...... But during installation there occured an error and was unable to load..... so please guide me , is there any other way to download the driver software....

    Hi Vaibhav,
    Welcome to the forum!
Try any or all of these steps.
    1. Enter the BIOS and set it to default values.
    2. Disable the device driver that has problem in the device manager. If you see any yellow or red marks under a device then "Disable the profile" of the device by first going into it's properties.
    3. Click Start , Run , and type the following into the Open field: msconfig, Click the Boot.ini tab. Remove the checkmark next to /Safeboot , if it is selected. Click OK and restart the PC.
    4. In Safe mode select Start, Run, type "msconfig" and click on OK. Check the box before Normal Startup and click on Apply and OK. Exit and restart your computer.
    5. Your computer may also be infected with a virus or malware, try running a complete scan with an updated antivirus/spyware.
To successfully install the audio driver, your Windows XP must be at SP2 level and this patch must be applied prior to installing the audio driver:- http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-65456.html
    Hope it helps.

  • HELP!!!!!! Need to create recovery disc for hdx laptop in Vista

I have been told by HP that I can create a recovery disc right from my computer.  Really ...... please someone tell me where and how.  Right now there is nothing wrong with my PC but I have been stupid and forgot to create it previously.
As an added note, so I can vent, my service pak ran out last month, which HP did not remind me of with an email like they alwasy do, and the guy I spoke to was no help with that.  He said there was nothing I could purchase now.  Also, I was told by more than one person that I had lifetime chat support online ...... well that's a lie too I found out.  So, they will not help me at all now!!!!!!!!!  The guy also told me the reason I did not probably get an email was becasue the support for this laptop ended in August and it will become obsolete this coming August.  That is probably the reason he said.  Wow why did I buy a HP computer and not a Dell.  When I had my Dell I called like more than 10 years after buying the computer and received phone based technical help on it still and no I did not have an extended warranty at the time.  They gave lifetime technical assistant via phone.  Looks like I may have to switch back.  Sorry HP but my experience has been less than good.

This document should help with the how to part of making the recovery disks.

  • Windows 10 support for g580 ?

    Hello Lenovo,
When do you release drivers for windows 10 on my g580 notebook. I checked everyday and i'm still waiting. I do not mind to wait, but I already installed windows 10 and I found just an issue, wifi stay connect for a short time and then it shows the message "limited" and I have no internet access and I must use the LAN cable every day. It's not a big deal to use the LAN cable, but i'm impatient to solve this problem.
AND more important. Do I ever get support for my laptop? Or it's an old model and I must stay on windows 7..

Its not Lenovos duty to do so, its Intels. And they won´t release Windows 10 drivers for the Tx20 series, so Lenovo won´t either. You can still install Windows 10 though. Works perfect on the T420 we have here.

XP drivers from V6700TX will work for your model. Install Intel Chipset Installation Utility for ICH8 first and reboot before other drivers.
(see below also before continuing with other drivers):

Don't use Mobile Intel 965 Graphics ,you have Nvidia Graphics:

Some of the drivers above require .Net,MS UAA and Windows Installer 3.1 first.
MS UAA(required with a reboot before Realtek audio):

    .Net Framework(before Quick Launch):

  • Audio driver for Compaq NX7400 in Windows 7

My OS is Windows 7 Professional. The computer is Compaq Nx7400. Can anyone tell me where I can get a compatible audio driver for this laptop? I tried installing the one available for Windows Vista but I think it's not compatible since the computer always turns to blue screen (with dumping physical memory, etc.) so I uninstalled that driver and up to now, my audio device is not working.
Another problem is that this computer go to this blue screen thing from time to time and I'm worried that eventually this might not entirely work anymore. How can I solve this? Thanks!

    Hi,
Go to Control Panel -> Devices Manager
Click with right button of Your mouse on each yellow sign and choose properties. Then go to bottom details and paste here Hardware Ids. This way we will know what it is.
Below You've got example how to do it:
