5.1 in DTT2500 with AUDIGY2

The DTT2500 works in full 5.1 only when AC3 decoder is on, enabing SPDIF pass-through in Creative Audio Console. How can I have 5.1 in games also? I have the Y-cable to connect the AUDIGY2 to the speakers in DIGITAL MODE but it doesn't work. I can't use the analog connections on the soundcard because the DTT2500 only have front and rear inputs. I have tried all the possible combinations of connections... 'I need help'Thanks!

I have this adapter.
With the SPIF passthrough option OFF in Creative Audio Console, my DTT2500 decodes the signal right (5.1 -> Dolby Digital LED ON)
If I use 5.1 in the Creative speaker settings with or without Digital Output Only, I do not have 5.1 signal. I can use only 4.1 in Creative Speaker settings
The problem is the Center output of the Audigy2 (3rd output), that it not possible to connect to the DTT2500 because it only have 2 inputs (Front and Rear), not 3 as Audigy2 outputs.
With the digital output only of the creative audigy2 it is supposed to have 5.1 input in DTT2500, but it is not right.
This post is not valid for me? Anymore ideas?

This is my first post and I would thank if someone could help me. I don't know what is the best way to connect in my laptop in order to enjoy the best sound with dvds and mp3s. The first item (dvds) is ok because I have a RCA cable connection from my Cambridge Soundworks DTT2500 to my Audigy2 NX and I enjoy the DolbyDigital sound this way but with this connection I hear the mp3s in my laptop in a 2 way-speakers, what can I do to hear my mp3s in 5.1 (if there is a better connection among my devices, please let me know)? I own those speakers and as someone else pointed out they're not true 5. speakers, they are only true for movies, not for games, even with the adapter, the center channel will not pick it up. I opted for another manufacturer speakers. When that came out, it was top of the line, high tech etc. But only really for movies, I have it hooked up to my DVD player now and that's all it's good for. And when I had it hooked up to my computer all I was ever able to get out of it was 4. with the spdf adapter and connection.

DVD-Audio and "can not detect sound blaster card" with Audigy2 Va

I recently purchased an "Audigy2 Value" card from an eBay user, because I recently purchased some DVD-Audio discs. I downloaded the Audigy2 drivers from the website, and the Creative MediaSource player. 5. Surround sound worked fine for me, though sometimes the driver would reset to the default 2/2. sound and I would have to re-select 5. sound, which was annoying.
Then I was completely unable to get the MediaSource player to recognise my DVD-Audio discs, and the EAX functionality of the player would never work. The EAX logo never appeared in the player. When I tried installing the MediaSource player from an install disc, I got the message "can not detect sound blaster card". Then I discovered the world of EEPROM problems.
I followed advice from some other threads, including using ScanPCI to get information on the card, which yielded the following result.

(Just a note: above you can clearly see that it does not say I have an Audigy, it thinks it is a SBLi've. Is this normal? The card IS an Audigy 2, it says so on the card.)
So, I put the card back on my own PC, thinking this has fixed my EEPROM, but I get the same as before. Subsystem ID 0002h. And of course the install software will not detect the card.
I realise that I could go back to using the web drivers, but this still leaves me with MediaSource not recognising the card and not enabling DVD-Audio or EAX, which is why I bought the card in the first place!
I have heard that the VIA chipset is possibly to blame for the EEPROM problems on the Audigy cards, and certainly it seems like it is not permanent, since it gave different information on the other PC. So now I am seriously considering getting a new motherboard.
Do other motherboards cause this same problem? I don't want to buy another board and get the same trouble. All I want is to be able to install my MediaSource and have it recognise my card so I can listen to my DVD-Audio discs.

Figured out my problem. Installing the drivers from the web to begin with was a bad idea. They just did not work properly with the card.
The "card not found" problem has gone as well, after installing it in another PC. I am also using the proper install disc now, as the other one I was using turned out to not be for the Audigy 2 value after all, but was an Audigy 2 install disc. That easily explains the "Card not found" error. The differing results from the ScanPCI program are still bizarre, though.
Thanks to all of the people on the forum who posted information in other threads to help me deal with this issue. For now I am sticking with the original drivers from the disc and I am not upgrading.

Can not activate EAX and SVM Support in Media Source Organizer with Audigy2 !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually what is happening is that MediaSource does not support the Audigy card. The EAX and SVM buttons require the EAX console and capabilities of the Audigy 2 or cards that were designed for MediaSource. The way that EAX was handled and implemented was changed between the Audigy and Audigy 2 and this is why MediaSource doesn't support the EAX capabilities of the Audigy directly. You can still modify the EAX settings from within EAX console for the Audigy but it isn't integrated into MediaSource like it is with Playcenter.

Continuing problems with Audigy2 Zs Drivers. Help!

I have had a recurring problem now that has gone on for far too long and is really killing me. I have the specs for the computer in my signature.
What happens, is everything works perfectly well until I install my Creative Audigy2 Zs Drivers for my second soundcard. Then when the computer reboots, the pc halts just before desktop to a blank screen for something like 30-45 minutes. The only way I can bootup, is if I remove every USB device from the system. It doesn't matter what USB device is plugged in, the computer just won't boot.
I have tried everything: updating drivers, changing around sound card PCI slot, changing IRQ's but nothing seems to fix the problem until I uninstall the soundcard drivers, where everything boots up as normal.
I really don't understand this, and i'm suprised noone else I can see are having problems with this soundcard, and drivers. I have searched the interweb for a solution, and others that are having this problem, but to no avail so far

My first sound card is the onboard MSI 5.1 chip. I need two soundcards for flightsim (one for aircraft sound, one for vatsim atc). I have tried installing the creative before installing the onboard card, but the same thing

I have a SB audigy2 EX card install it works fine. But I cannot get the ext. I/O box to work no power light (nothing).... I checked the power supply to the audigy card with a multi. Meter, the power is fine . I had a SB Li've MP3+ installed before and it work fine. When i installed SB Audigy 2, uninstalled the SB Li've software & drivers . Any one with any suggestions I would be happy to hear from you !!!!

6.1 and 7.1 sound while wathing movies doesn't seem to work with audigy2

I've got an audigy2 zs soundcard and gigaworks 7. speakers connected to it. In games, all the channels are used correctly, but not when watching dvds. The dvd-player I use is InterVideo WinDVD 6 and I've set the correct numbers of speakers in that program and in creatives Speaker Settings. When playing movies with dts es 6., I only get sound in the fronts, the center, the sub and the rear speakers. The sidespeakers ar silent. Same thing with dolby digital ex on like on The Star Wars Trilogy. The upmix on volume controller for the speakers uses the soundchannels incorrectly, wich can be cheked by the THX Optimizer witch is on the Star Wars Trilogy dvds. I have also noticed that the settings i do in Device Controls - Audio Headquarters doesn't work, for instance that the rear and side speakers should be used when playing 4. or 5. sound. Is anyone else having problems with this and does anyone have a solution? I'm using the latest drivers, so that's not the problem.

Yup, that should be the case it you wanted the sound card to do the decoding instead of the DVD application.

Problems with Audigy2 Value and CMS

I have an Audigy2 value sound card running on windows xp with sp2. My speakers are 4. Creative 4400. I installed the drivers that came along with the card and they work fine. The trouble is that unless I turn on CMSS 3D, I get sound only from the front left and front right speakers. Only if CMSS 3D is on does the rear channel activate.
This is very odd considering that I had a SBLi've! before this and I had no such problems with my speakers. I've tried tweaking the software but to no avail. Also tried reinstalling - but no change.

You are a victim of the align to pixel grid option.
Starting in CS5 if when you chose a new document profile of web, that feature gets turned on. Select All and remove uncheck "Align to pixel grid".
Adiitonally uncheck Align New Object To Pixel Grid, so this does not come back when you draw new objects.
Now if you are working on a web image, then that option is good to have on, but work in units of pixels, and all should be better as long as you work in whol pixel numbers.

Sound Distortion playing DVDs with Audigy2 Va

Last time I have problems playing DVD movies on my computer: The sound is distorted
by scratches like an old vinyl. I am using a SB Audigy 2 on Win XP. I have tried several software DVD players, reinstalled the old drivers from CD and cleanly installed teh newest drivers via internet auto update. I also tried to update my VIA chipset drivers, deactivated several background programs etc.
I found out that disabling the sound acceleration in DXDiag removes the sound distortion but then the sound (speech, effects) within a movie are extremly quiet compared to the music.
Another thing: First I deinstalled completely the software and drivers from my audigy to replace it with new ones. Then I had to notice that the new Audio Control Center does not support the option to send bass-frequencies to my subwoofer. I could set the speakers to 5. but had no chance to get my subwoofer working. At the moment I have status quo by using new drivers, but my old creative applications for configurating my speakers.

Ijust checked the preferences, go to Disc Setup and on the bottom in the Audio section, check off the box that says "Disable Dolby dynamic range compression" see if that helps.

my system reboots at random (more in games) with audigy 2 value..
could someone please advise me on the problem i have with my new audigy 2 card. i would like to get it working and not have to get another card. i got this one because my onboard sound is so junky with midi music and has a poor s/n on recording. the blaster card seems to meet my expectations except for the reboots.
i have read on forums about this same issue with ati video cards in the 9200+ range so i thought that might be the cause but i went back to the onboard audio and the problem went away.
at random my system reboots. i get an error.. irql_not less than or equil or something like that and then it reboots. i let it submit to microsoft and they only say its a problem with a device driver. i have all the updated drivers for all my hardware at this point. i have all the windows updates as well. my xp is legal. i dont think its the power supply but.. could it be? the readings with my digital meter are normal. i have an older but quality digital multi tester. got it when in college. so i know its accurate. it reads 4.9 on 5 and 2.2 on 2. all this info because of the information i have read already. is the audigy a power hungry card? cause i dont get any reboots when i use the onboard sound and my ati video so what ever is going on it has something to do with the sound card.
i cant find a newer driver on the driver site for it except for the beta. so i assume there is no updated driver for the card.
i have a ups backup system. it has come on but it has never caused a computer hang when it has. its a 250 watt unit with plenty of battery backup. same battery backs up my ham radio equip. i am going to reinstall the card and see if in some chance it is munipulating the waveform to the supply. the power to the machine reads 22 volts.
i have had some issues with the power company recently. they had to do some major repairs because i was having problems with flickers. but they fixed... [Show more]

sorry i missed that detail in my information. that is one of the things i checked. video is on 6 and audio is on 7. i dont see any other devices sharing those irqs in the device manager irq information. or any other devices on same irqs or i/o
before anyone mentions it i also have 3 fans sucking air. my case is actually an old server case with lots of vent holes in front and side. i was thinking of getting some of the slot fans and blowing on video and sound card. could this be the issue? the monitor app says my sytem temp is 82 degrees. 27 on processor.
i appreaciate the input. i ran it all night last night with nero media player running with visulations on. the music was still playing but the video was locked up when i checked it this morning? nothing but mushrooms on my screen from the visulation. i dont know if something happened with nero (most likely this time) but thats the first time that error came up. the odd thing about this really is that it may go for hours and not do this but it seems to do it more when we play demanding games. i ran the machine yesterday for hours on my inverter (ups system) from the batteries with no problem. its output is just a little hotter than my house voltage 27 volts and my line volatage is about 9. but it may reboot before i get this post completed. it ran without problem for 7 hours with all the major games i have until the batteries ran down. (two high capacity 2 volt deep cycles on the outside deck)its really odd. its almost at random. at this point i suspect that i have a power supply problem of some sort. im gonna get a new supply by friday and see if that hel

i have to wonder who makes the best supply? anyone have any sujestions? perhaps whats really causing this is the capacitors in the supply cant sustain a clean output with the shaky power supplied by aep at my home. aep says that they fixed the problem but i still see flickers. i dont have any problems with the power on anything else in my home. im a little particular. lights that flicker bug me. its not a serious flicker just a slight diming that i have tried to catch with a dvm meter and cant. i have a 350 watts supply but its probably not the best made supply out there. i bought it at a local place that sells off brand computer parts. my fault i guess.. i've had it for maybe 3 years. i had a supply go bad back then and ruin a hard dri've on me. im bad for giving more info than needed but im just a yacker. thanks for the help..

No surround sound on DTT2500 with X-FI music card

I have new x-fi music soundcard and my old Cambridge Soundworks DTT2500 System. When I set the speakermode of the x-fi to 5.1 speakers it doesn't work correctly. The speaker test for the rear speakers is only audible on the left and right speakers. I am using the spdif/digital out of the x-fi card and the spdif in on my speaker system. I tried all options on the soundcard and on the speaker system, but I still don't get a successfull test on all speakers!?When I play a DVD using the spdif out, the DD signal is identified and it works fine. When I use the analog connectors for front and rear and turn on 4/4.1 speaker mode, the front and rear speakers are also working correctly. I would like to use my surround system, also (e.g. for games). Thanks for any help!

Anybody had experience with Audigy2 PCMCIA + PCMCIA to PCI adapter?

I have been using my Audigy 2 ZS (PCMCIA) on a laptop as a media center for a looong time, but the laptop died and I'm using a cheap desktop for it.
The built-in soundcard lacks luster and I want to use my Audigy in it, but I'll be needing a PCI to PCMCIA adapter. Because the Audigy 2 ZS was so picky about the Cardbus adapter it was connected to, I want to know of other peoples' experiences on doing the same thing.
Has anyone else connected their Audigy 2 ZS - laptop into a desktop using a PCMCIA-to-PCI adapter? Which brand/model and how did it work out?

Bad sound and low subwoofer output on Audigy 2 zs with 5.1 5

Hi,
I am getting very very low subwoofer output on my Audigy2 ZS with 5. 5200.
To test furthter, i did the follownig
play mp3,
2 output is from front speakers
3 very very low subwoofer output
4 to confirm, removed green (front) black (read) cabled from sound card and can confirm a very very low subwoofer output
earlier with Li've! 5. every thing was working great.
what could be wrong?
i think Audigy 2 zs is a bad card and is a marketting hype.

I have tried all the thx console setup and bass levels.
Its not affecting the subwoofer output very much.
<Infact the subwoofer output is so low that i have to go and put my ears on the subwoofer to see if its producing sound.
Remember that with Li've! 5. (SB0220) which also i have with me is giving all the great results. so the problem is not with speakers but with the sound card and i want my costly card (zs) to work.
(i still believe the 5. 5200 3 pole cables (green, black, yellow) which we attached to the sound card and speakers are not compatible with Audigy2 zs as zs needs 4 pole cables - but i have not verified this still as it will be a long time consuming exercise - purchasing 4 pole pins and soldering here and there on cables and poles and testing testing)
Also, why the bass boost controls (level and cutoff frequency) in bass boost are disabled? how to bring them to enabled state?
Also, in thx console setup (calibration page) , its not SAVING the changes which i make to Distance, Level and Angle. Why is that so?
To help you further in understand my problem please note that i HAVE updated all the software to its latest versions by doing the software AutoUpdate from creative support site.
So i am having atleast 3 issues now

though the issue in that link is with audigy (2zs) and 5. digital, if you go through that whole thread, you will realise what we go through. THE SUBWOOFER OUTPUT IS A BAD PROBLEM WE ALL ARE FACING WITH AUDIGY AND RELATED.
I think i am hopeful of a solution as i was always an admirer of creative sound cards (the reason i purchased this costly audigy2 zs). but looking at the issues i am facing, it makes me feel it was a bad bad decision to purchase this costly card.

I'm having a hard time finding the correct cables to get the full digital experience out of my setup. DTT2500 5.1 speakers and Audigy 2 ZS. I game, listen to music and watch DVDs on my computer. Can someone link me some product pages where I could buy the necessary cables?
