5.1 problem with K7N2Delta-ILSR

I was using four speakers until today. They were working fine but an acceptible delay on rear channels.
But today I bought a 5.1 system: Philips MMS460
I've made the wiring, tested it with the test sound in nForce Control Panel, it was fine. They are working.
But when I open ANY other aplication like winamp, media player, games etc. ony the two front speakers are working. I searched the FAQ but found nothing.
I also tested speakers with my home cinema. They're working fine.

Yes I configured them all. But nothing changed.
Anyway, all the channels just woke up by themself. Because of I've tried everything I can, I was waiting for a post and "bing!" they started working.
Thanks for your help.

  • Great problems with K7N2G-ILSR onboard raid controller

I have really great problems with my s-ata raid controller. First of all i had a 40GB HDD attached to IDE3. Worked really fine.
Later on my system crashed and my raid controller seemed to be dead. (no "no array is defined" no "press crtl-f to enter setup,...).
Then I attached a s-ata drive to the first s-ata interface. Suddenly the raid controller said: "no array is defined, press ctrl-f to enter setup". I entered setup an built an array an restarted my computer. Again: "No array is defined, press crtl-f to enter setup."
Now my raid controller seems to be dead again cause it doesnt say a word again.
Please help me if you can. (Besides i tried to solve the problem with updating my bios. I tried all versions from v1.0 to v1.3 but there was no result.)

I have already tried two different types of Ram. 512 MB DDR 333 (I don't know the timing exactly but it's a CL2.5 Ram) and another one from a different manufacturer. Also DDR 333 CL 2.5. Then I combined both. But the raid controller didn't show any reaction and I can't imagine that the problem is the power supply because everything else works fine. Anyway... I will try to get a new K7NG2-ILSR on guarantee, sell my whole computer and buy the new K7N2-Delta because I have only problems with the K7N2G-ILSR.

  • Raid problems with K7N2G ILSR

I have the following setup and problem:
    K7N2G ILSR
    NEC DVD-+RW 1300A
    Seagate SATA 120gb HD
    350W PSU with "210" 3.3 + 5.0
    BIOS V 1.4
    2 x Hynix 256mb DDR 333
I was able to setup the SATA drive as a single RAID drive and install XP pro.
Now, 9/10 times, the system will not boot.  I receive a
"No drive attached to fasttrak controller"
    message.
When the system DOES boot, it works great, and I can leave in on for days with NO problems.
I know the Hynix memory is not "approved", but since the system is stable (when it does boot), and assume its not a memory problem.
The problem still occurs even after:
I changes the SATA cable (data and power)
I changed the DVD cable and slot (1-3)
I even disconneced the DVD and / or Floppy.
    No change
    Help!!!!!

  • Minor problem with K7N2G-ILSR

Everything works fine except one little thing.
I've activated the nView thing, so TV is monitor number 2.
The TV (monitor number 2) normally shows copy of monitor number 1.
But I've also activated the thing so that video comes in fullscreen on the TV (second monitor).
I think its called overlay or something like that.
But if I have 32 bits colors when starting a video (remember that everything is fine until now),
my monitor starts to flicker! Not my TV, thats just fine, but my MONITOR!
But if I use 16 bits colors before starting video, I have no problems!
    Anyone knows anything about this?
Sounds to me like a driver problem, but wanna check.
Mailed tech. support, but they never answered me...

What do you mean with 'software issue'?
    Do you mean drivers?
    Maybe you missunderstood me...
The whole screen starts to flicker, not only the window with the video.
And secondly, I use normal Windows Media Player.
But its the same with all players, I've tried!
Can you anyway explain a little more what you mean with 'software issue'?

I got the K72NG-ILSR and 2 sticks of 512mb pc2700 Kingston valueram and it crashing whenever i try to have the fsb set to 133 or 166 but works when i have it set to 100 through the jumpers on the mboard. Is this caused by the memory or the mboard itself.

  • RAM/RAID Problems With K7N2G-ILSR

I recently got this mobo, and have found some little things that dont seem to work:
I have 2 Crucial 512mb PC-2700 sticks that dont want to work. I can use one in either dual/single channels fine, but anytime I add another stick, the blue screen of death likes to appear.
I have as well two 120gb Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 hdd that do not seem to detect on my RAID array (only 1 detects for some reason).
According to what I read, the RAM and RAID should work fine... just curious whether not my mobo is faulty or not, thanks.

  • Sometimes cannot start PC: problem with Hitachi SATA Hard drive and K7N2G-ILSR

I have major problem with my 160Gb SATA Hitachi hard drive and my MSI K7N2G-ILSR motherboard.  Sometimes the PC can be started, sometimes it cannot.
After I installed a clean build of Windows XP Pro SP1 onto my new hard drive (as the only hard drive in my PC) and install all the necessary drivers, the system runs smoothly.  However, after about 2 to 3 weeks, sometimes when I start the PC, it cannot detect the hard drive and hence it claimes that it cannot find any VMI Pool Data (i.e. no OS detected).  What makes it really horrible is that, it is like the lottery everytime when I start the PC.  Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.  The highest record was 8 consecutive failures (by resetting or by turning the power off and on again) before I can start the machine properly.  Also, the system sometimes just crashes in the middle of operating.
I have already sent the hard drive back to Hitachi.  Got the same model of hard drive back as replacement, but the replacement has the same problem, except with the replacement drive the PC can be started eventually after many tries, while with the previous drive it is possible that the PC cannot be started until after a few days later.
Also, it seems that my drive can detect either SATA hard drive or PATA hard drive, but not both.  (If I leave my old PATA drive connect in the primary IDE channel, Windows cannot detect the new SATA drive.)
Is my motherboard faulty?  Can it only use PATA drive?
My PC's spec is as follows:
    AMD Athlon XP 2500+
512Mb PC3200 SDRAM (set to run at 166MHz)
Hitachi 160Gb SATA Hard drive on 1st SATA channel (Model #HDS722516VLSA80)
Sony DVD+-RW drive and Panasonic DVD-ROM drive on secondary IDE channel
    Use onboard video (GeForce MX)
US Robotech V92 internal PCI modem
    SoundBlaster Audigy 2 Player soundcard
    Onboard audio disabled
    300W PSU
OS is Windows XP Pro SP1 (with all latest security patches up to date)

    that is not entirly correct.
many harddrives just come with different ways to connect them.
the only sata drives i now that spins faster is western digital raptors 10k rpm.
all other is running at 7200rpm.
    older drives run at 5400rpm
Yes to get the full benefit of RAID, the Raptors are the way to go.Anything else, no significant difference.

  • Problems with MSI K8MM-ILSR mATX after BIOS flash...

I flashed it with the latest AMI bios dated 12/21/2004 and i used the LiveUpdate Windows-Based flashing. Everything was perfect and ran fine, comp rebooted and everything is still running great, EXCEPT....
Now my memory wont run at DDR400, There is a DDR Setting, if anyone wants to DLOAD the manual and look with me....Its either set to 'Limit' or 'Auto'. Auto on the old bios loaded at DDR400, but now its DDR333. When i choose limit, my DDR Options come up, DDR100, 200, 266, 333, 400. When i set it to 400, DDR333 STILL comes up. Aside from that i dont know where the dividers are. CPU said my ram is at 333 aswell. Its stating that the mobo is using CPU/12, which i dont like.
Any help or ideas? I dont really wanna use the old bios.
EDIT: I tried removing CMOS battery, resetting CMOS, and using the second to last BIOS, still no DDR400.

    rakstr,
Since I now have two boards with memory setup restrictions (see stats) from MSI, I decided to work the problem with my own fix.  That's Danno's "don't get mad, get even-better-results policy".  I had a choice of hacking the Bios or something more entertaining......
Last night, I wrote a PCR File for the AMD Athlon 64 memory controller, i.e. the Hypertransport bridge.  I googled to find one, but apparently no one's bothered to write one.  I'm doing alpha testing now with the PCR, and the results have been good.   Are you familiar with H. Oda's WPCREDIT/WPCRSET utilities?  I see some of the folks in this Forum have been using it to toggle 1T/2T Command Rate.  Since Memtest86+ can provide alterations to settings on the fly to establish best memory tweaks with stability, I'm now able to recreate any of those settings with WPCREDIT from within Windows.  I had fun last night tweaking a setting with WPCREDIT running on screen side-by-side with the memory window from CPU-Z.  As I'd tweaked a setting, CPU-Z would almost immediately update (on it's own) to the altered setting....fun fun.    It was good verification of the PCR.  I do have more testing and documentation to do.
I need a beta tester/volunteer in a day or so.  Are you interested?  Are you familiar with those utilities?

  • K7N2delta ILSR won't except video drivers?

I bought a K7N2delta ILSR & can't get it to accept the drivers for an ATI 9600? Before I install the drivers windows XP pro sets some drivers & I can alter the pixel settings, but once I install the ATI drivers I get nothing but a black screen? I boot & the windows XP splash screen comes up but the welcome screen never makes it? I can start in safe mode & the desktop is visable but once I go to regular boot I get nothing but a black screen?
I read a thread where they suggested using a two button mouse but that didn't work either? Any advice or suggestions?
Running BIOS 7.4. Should I flash back to 7.3? Reset CMOS & try over?
    Anyone have suggestions?

I hate it when people don't reply back to their own thread to say if they resolved their problem(s) or not? I'm not sure what happend but I bought an fx5200 and installed the drivers to find out my AGP slot was not fried or anything else for that matter? I then removed the nvidia drivers & reinstalled the ati  drivers for the 9600np to find that all is well & functional? I don't think this was caused by a bad agp seat but it could have been? All I know is that I don't appear to have a bad board.\
FYI .... this board has some nice OC'g features but my gigabyte board overclocked better with the same components & I might add no problems seen on this board!?

  • Norton Ghost / K7N2delta-ILSR

Has anyone used Ghost (v7 in this case) to image a RAID 1 NTFS volume or partition on this controller and restored it successfully?
I can image and verify the drive which appears ok, I just don't know of a non-destructive method of telling whether it'll restore back to the stack correctly ... short of breaking the mirror but that's too dangerous.
Having had odd problems with booting various image configurations in the past I don't want to jump in with both feet and sink!

    " Ghost and RAID
Ghost is not compatible with computers that use RAID. That is, Symantec Ghost 8.0 and earlier, and Norton Ghost 2003 and earlier, do not support RAID controllers on computers that are being imaged. In addition:
        * Ghost does not work with software level RAID.
        * Although Ghost might work in some limited circumstances with hardware level RAID, Symantec does not support using Ghost for cloning hardware level RAID drives.
    * Ghost does support cloning drives that have had RAID removed, such as after you break a mirrored set.
    Ghost and hardware-level RAID systems
Although it is not a supported feature, Ghost can sometimes create and restore images to hardware level RAID systems if you load the appropriate DOS ASPI driver to support this. Load the DOS ASPI driver when you create the image file and again when you restore the image file. DOS ASPI drivers can usually be obtained from the RAID hardware manufacturer. For other ASPI driver information, see the document Information on ASPI drivers.
Notes on getting Ghost to work with hardware RAID systems
        * Use similar hardware: Restore the image file only to a computer that uses the same hardware as the source computer. Because the operating system needs the drivers for the array, the drives will be inaccessible on the destination computer unless the hardware is the same.
        * SCSI or IDE: Ghost's ability to work with RAID arrays is not dependent on whether the array uses SCSI drives or IDE drives.
        * Mirrored sets in Windows NT: To clone mirrored sets in Windows NT, break the mirror, run Ghost with the -NTIID switch ( -ntiid ), and then recreate the mirror using the Windows NT Disk Administrator. Note that duplexed disks are a type of mirrored set. See the document Cannot migrate Windows NT mirrored or striped sets to larger drives.
        * Mirrored sets in Windows 2000/XP: Symantec Ghost 7.5, 8.0, and Norton Ghost 2003 support cloning a mirrored partition in Window 2000 and Windows XP provided that the source partition is on a Dynamic Disk and the image is restored to a Basic Disk. The restored partition is not mirrored. See the document Ghost compatibility with Dynamic partitions.
    * Restore the partition rather than the disk: In some situations, Ghost may be able to restore a partition from a disk image when Ghost cannot restore the disk image."

  • Stop Errors in Windows XP with K7N2-ILSR....need help!

    Hello,
i recently received  a replacement for a K2N2-ILSR mobo and i am still having BIG problems with it. With the first mobo, installation of Windows XP w/SP1 simply would not complete. The installation kept crashing and STOP ERRORS like 0x8E, 0x0A would appear and random points of the process (i tried to install them more than 20 times). The CPU was an XP 1800+ and memory was 2 DDR400 sticks of not so good quality (cheapest i could find...at that point i did not know that the mobo was so picky with memory). The Graphics card is a FX5200. PSU was 350W. When i checked the system BIOS i show a CPU temperature reading of 85 degrees! Of course, the CPU was nowhere around 45 at that moment (which i verified by testing it on another mobo). I suspected that the motherboard was faulty and returned it. In the meantime, i figured out about these issues with Nforce2 and memory, so i decided to upgrade everything. I bought a Barton XP 2500+, 2 Crucial DDR400 256MB sticks and a new Enermax 450W PSU. I tried them on the new mobo, but guess what...XP w/SP1 still did not install! I finally tried to install XP w/out SP1 and everything worked fine! Or so i thought so....after 3 weeks of working with it i STILL get STOP errors, mainly 0x0A and 0x8E.
    Could anybody PLEASE help me?
    Thank you very much,
    flash

Is it a Deskstar if so IBM have issued a firmware upgrade for those drives Here to stop them doing the funcky chicken.

It's barely a step up from what you're using now...here is a review on it:
    http://www.neoseeker.com/resourcelink.html?rlid=62172
This pic shows that the 12V rail is 18A which is 2A more than the one you have now...scrimping isn't going to make it better...
Enermax or Antec is the way to go...they both crank a lot more amps out of their rails than most...
