5.1 supported for iPod?

Is there a way I can get 5.1 for my videos on my iPod? Like to make them 5.1 and what not. Or, when I plug my iPod into my Home Theater system, to get the full 5.1 advantage of DVDs I have on my iPod? Does this make sense?

No.
Firstly this would require the iPod to output a digital signal, which it cannot do.
Secondly a 5.1 soundtrack would be huge and take up far too much space on your iPod.
Thanks
Tim

  • Is It Goinig to be an HEBREW support for ipod touch 2g

    Hello,
I would like to know if it is going to be an HEBREW support in version 2.2 in ipod touch 2g.
In israel there is an hebrew support for ipod touch 1g.

I would like to know if it is going to be an HEBREW support in version 2.2 in ipod touch 2g.
You are just talking to other users like yourself here. Nobody can possibly know the answer, and Apple itself never provides advance info on such feature additions.

    Not from Apple.

  • Hebrew Support For iPod Nano 4Gen 8 GB

    Hello,
I have iPod Nano 4Gen 8 GB and I want to install Hebrew support for him. This is possible? This is exist?
    Thank you all.

Probably not, but the latest version does have Hebrew:

  • Russian language support for iPod 10 GB (firewire) ?

Is there a Russian language support for that iPod (not iTunes, for the device itself)?
    Thanks

You should ask this in the forum for that device, which is here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=151
You should also identify your ipod more exactly if possible. Here is a chart:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61688
Then you can probably find the tech specs via Apple or Google. Here is one example (Russian not supported).

  • Greek language support for ipod touch?

why the greek language is not included in the supported languages for ipod touch?
why there is no greek keyboard nor a speller?
is it so hard to do it?
the greek language is not important?
as fur as i know apple has also a market for ipod in greece as well as other products...
but no greek language support in the ipod... why?

    yes this is also true,
as fur as it goes for displaying text in greek  the results are pretty good.
but when it come to writing...this is a totally different scenario...
unfortunately you have many other options apart from writing greek of curse.
to conclude and this is something that keeps bugling me,
    maybe I am wrong,
but i think that the OS the ipod touch runs is based OSX 10.4 (tiger),
if not mostly the same OS.
if the above assumption is correct in some whey..and by having in mind that the support for many languages is already realized for the above OS
is interesting to notice that the support of this already realized languages is limited in the platform of ipod touch ( concerning writing and spelling).
    how knows...

  • FTP app and Flash support for Ipod touch -- coming soon?

I'd like two things for my ipod touch that I don't have now:
    * an FTP app, to enable me to update web sites on the go
    * browser support for web sites that use Flash
Can anyone offer an informed opinion of when the FTP app and/or Flash browser support will be available? And am I being impatient, as the SDK is still so new?
A related question: what's the best place of staying current with what's available for the ipod touch?

This is a user-to-user site so no one really has an "informed" opinion and speculation is prohibited.
You are being impatient because applications will be distributed through the new Apps Store which won't be available until June. That will also be a good place to see what is available.
Flash availability for the iPhone/Touch is in limbo currently, until Adobe/Apple can come to some kind of understanding I would not look for it on the iPhone/Touch.
Do a search for "Flash" over in that Search Discussions box to the right and you can catch up on the discussions regarding Flash.

  • Highly Annoyed: No iTunes Support for iPod Nano 5's (new) Recording Ability

Re iPod Nano 5th: does anyone else out there find it to be a p-ss-off that, now that it records videos, voice and steps (well-done!), the iTunes application gives little or no support for any of them? Clear to me: iPod WAS just a playback machine, and iTunes fed it the media, one-way only. But the Nano 5th is now a 3-part recorder, and is Apple going to change iTunes or supplement it to make it a two-way application? Disk use doesn't cut it - and often conflicts with use of the iTunes Sync button (which I use for my songs library). Cases-in-point: I've taken camera videos that I can no longer find on my iPod, even though their files are still in the iPod DCIM folder! For Voice 'memos' (great for recording just about any dialogue or talk), I have first to make sure that the playlist "Voice Memos" in my iTunes library has the same 5 recordings I have on and want to keep on my iPod before I do a manual Sync to transfer the CD songs I've just added to iTunes and want on my iPod. I have spent hours trying to establish a 'disk use' method get back a recording that's disappeared from the iPod's Recordings folder (done by iTunes without my say-so).
Because I'm new to using iPod and iTunes, I've turned to the 104-page User Guide for the Nano 5th. Is anyone else annoyed that it's upbeat language completely skirts Apple's gaping hole of incompleteness in software support for the new recording functions of Nano 5th? Is it dishonest? Pity the Apple underlings forced to write it, knowing Apple iPod execs f--ked up by failing to develop iTunes/software support in tandem with the new iPod wizardry. Back to my question: is this bugging anyone else, and do you have any insight to lend me?
McGoosteraneous ly (a stupid name for an unstupid guy)

I will check out Apple Knowledge Base though. URL is?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/index?page=search
*The Apple staff are unlikely to help me with "all my issues"* if they lead me thru indirect ways to manage camera videos and recordings and not thru dedicated software that Apple has overlooked to develop along with the Nano 5th.
You will not know this until you get there. If you do not want to march on down to the store then call iPod support.
"Complaining" in these forums is falling on deaf ears. Apple will not respond nor do they read these postings because these are user-to-user forums where everyday folk post questions and offer answers to each other.
If you have a problem with the way Apple has intergrated the iPod Nano with iTunes, post them on Apple's Product Feedback website.

  • WMF Support for iPod anyone?

    Hey,
Am I the only one, who would like to play wmf files with iPod?
IMHO they sound better than mp3 to my ears. I know, I know, this is very personal statement and you are free to disagree, but I'd just prefer wmf over mp3.
I am not an iPod owner yet, but I consider buying one.
Although I am impressed with iPod - the slick design, UI, etc are all unrivaled, the lack of wmf support is THE major drawback, which makes me look at other players. iPod is the only player which does NOT support wmf. I ripped most of my cd collection to wmf, so conversion to mp3 would be a pain.
Does anybody know if Apple might add support for wmf (or other formats, like flac, ape) anytime soon?
Sorry, AAC/AIFF is not an option either.
    PC   Windows XP Pro

if you read the tech specs for the 5g ipod link below
    http://www.apple.com/ipod/specs.html
under audio support its as follows "AAC (16 to 320 Kbps), Protected AAC (from iTunes Music Store), MP3 (16 to 320 Kbps), MP3 VBR, Audible (formats 2, 3 and 4), Apple Lossless, WAV, AIFF"
THere is no WMA format suported. If you look further on video support (just as a notice) there is no WMA format supported. "H.264 video: up to 768 Kbps, 320 x 240, 30 frames per sec., Baseline Profile up to Level 1.3 with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats
MPEG-4 video: up to 2.5 mbps, 480 x 480, 30 frames per sec., Simple Profile with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats"
I am sure but dont know of any WMA file converter. And since you state AAC/AIFF is out of the quesiton well then see on converting the files to MP# sicne thats more universal. Why should apple ipod support for windows media files. when microsoft is so rankerous in being so proprietary on their software as well. I am sure you can find a converter and i recommend googleing for such info. But i highly doubt apple will add support for a proprietary file format that comes from a competing software company. Im not bashing jsut making a real observation. =)

  • Support for iPod with Adobe DPS

    Hello:
Is it possible to use DPS on an iPod Touch just like it is an iPhone?  Maybe it works but the question goes if Adobe support this device.
    Saludos,

For Single Edition, no. Single Edition is iPad only.
For multi-folio viewers, here's info from a help article: "The iPhone 3GS, 4, and 4S models as well as the iPod Touch (Generation 4 and later) are supported for DPS. The iPhone 3G is not supported."

  • Persian (farsi) language support for Ipod nano 5G.

I could find the Arabic language support but no Persian (Farsi) support. I am wondering why Apple still does not support this language.
Also I wanted to know if there is any way that we could translate the English to Persian and add into our Ipod nano ourselves.

Apple tells everyone what languages it supports in the tech specs for its products:
    http://www.apple.com/ipodnano/specs.html
To tell them you want another one, go here:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipodnano.html
if there is any way that we could translate the English to Persian and add into our Ipod nano ourselves.
If you are talking about the user interface, the answer is no.

  • Does Apple offer support for iPod?

My son's 8 month old iPod 80 gig classic (I guess) has crashed and burned; the Apple site says the serial number is invalid, and I see nowhere on their site any way to get help.
He thinks it's more than just a dead battery.
Any ideas? PS I'm in southern Mexico, so 800 numbers aren't real helpful.

If you are being told the serial number is invalid, perhaps you have mis-read it. It is very small, try using a magnifying glass - I've had to do this.
    Before doing that though:
Sometimes, iPods just will not wake up, which gives the appearance of being dead. A simple reset can fix this.
To perform a reset, turn the *Hold switch* on, then off and then press the menu button and the select button (the centre one) together for up to ten seconds. If the Apple logo appears, the iPod will then start up and probably be okay. If it does not, try the reset again, since Apple suggest doing this "a few times".
The other basic thing to try is leaving the iPod unplugged for 24 hours. If the iPod is "stuck" trying to perform an action and therefore unable to respond to key presses (also giving the impression of being dead), leaving it for 24 hours is usually enough to drain the battery, at which point the iPod will turn off. Only then, is it worth plugging the iPod into a power source. After about 30 minutes, you will see a "low battery warning" message. The iPod will have been "reset" and will need to be fully charged before use.
If neither of these things fix it, let us know in this thread and we'll go from there.

  • Multi-language support for iPod Touch keyboard

"There might be an app for that" sounds good, but trying to find anything on the Apple site is a nightmare. I'm simply looking for a multi-language touch keyboard application for my iPod Touch.
I type quite a bit in German and need to easily switch between English (Qwerty) and German keyboards.
Does anyone know of an App for this? If so, could you please post the URL?
    Thanks

It's built in to your iPod Touch. See page 30 of the User Guide.

  • Hebrew support for IPod

Can anyone tell me if they know of any available updates to allow viewing Hebrew fonts on the ipod? It seems that ITunes displays Hebrew fonts but once imported to the ipod all I get is blanks!
    Thanks

You can't use Hebrew fonts in the iPod, but you CAN install Hebrew for the iPod.
Use this link to download the installation:
    http://www.yeda.co.il/iPodHE/download.html
You need to fill in some info and send it to Yeda, and you will get a link to downlaod the installation itself.
The app. itself is in beta stage, but it is working great.

  • Charging/Power Support for iPod without iTunes Installed

I have an 80 GB iPod that I load and manage on my home system. Is there a way that I can plug the iPod into the USB port on a Windows laptop that does NOT have iTunes installed and listen to music already on the device? I want only the power from the laptop USB which is a corporate machine, i.e., can't put iTunes on it. I tried it and I get the "Do Not Disconnect" screen and the device is unusable.
      Windows XP Pro

Look on the system for new hardware found. Just eject it there and it should allow the regular screen to come up. If I remember correctly it comes up in the lower right hand side of the bar at the bottom of the windows screen.
