5.1 update frozen

I just tried to update to iOS 5.1, and it downloaded and began installing. But now it's frozen on a loading bar with the Apple logo that appears when you turn the phone on.
It was stuck there for about 30 minutes, so I tried restarting the phone and when it came back up, it was still stuck on the loading bar.
When I plug the phone into the computer and open iTunes, it says my phone is currently using 5.1
But I can't use my phone because I'm stuck on the loading bar.
Help, please.

You can solve this problem by putting the phone into recovery mode and restoring it from backup. Try this:
Connect the iPhone's USB cable to your computer, but not your iPhone.
Turn your Iphone off. If the phone won't turn off in the traditional manner, just keep holding the buttons until the screen goes dark.
Once you've turned the device off, press the home button on the face of the device and plug in the USB cable to the device's dock connector.
When it turns on, keep pressing the home button until the iTunes logo appears on the screen.
You'll know the phone is now in recovery mode because a window in iTunes will tell you.
You can then start the restore process by clicking the "Restore" button in the iTunes window.

  • Adobe Acrobat Updater frozen

    Hi,
I've had a look through the forum and can't seem to find anything on this problem. Adobe Acrobat Updater was updating acrobat up to 9.3.2, it was in the installation phase then about half way through it's stopped dead. The window is still there, the blue loading bar is stil pulsating and I can move it about so it hasn't totally crashed, but I can't click on the cancel button. Can't force quit out of it either.
Also there's another window 'Repair Setup' telling me "Acrobat has detected that there are missing components that require repair. Select the optional components you would like to repair..."etc Adobe PDFViewer Safari Plugin is automatically checked. This window is totally frozen, can't even move it.
On top of this Updater is cancelling out any Shutdown attempts.
My OS is 10.6.3 and I'm on an iMac.
Any help is sorely needed, I have no idea how to get round this.
    Many Thanks
Edit: Another bit of info, I had acrobat open a few times during, due to work demands, I don't know if this would have effected the installation process at all.

    We're aware of this bug.
it's casued if the pdfviewer plugin for safari is missing, the repair dialog wants to know if it should put it back or not.
In order to update to 9.3.2, before checking for updates, go to Acrobat preferences>Internet> display pdf in browser using: and select the version of Acrobat/reader ou want to update.
For good measure also run the self repair form the help menu, in Acrobat go to help> repair acrobat.
when that's done, go to help>check for update to update.

  • IPod Software Update frozen

When I fired up iTunes, I got repeated messages that there was an update to the iPod software. I think it was the OS, and it was either 3.1.2 or 3.2.1 (it's frozen right now, can't check) and is 238.3MB. When it downloaded, it started to update my iPod Touch, but things are frozen at that point. The iPod Touch shows a white apple, with an empty progress bar beneth it. iTunes shows a progress window titled "iPod". It contains the text "Updating iPod software" and a progress bar that shows no progress. There's only a small segment of blue that moves from left the right (never changing width), then starting on the left again.
What can I do? I have very little time before I go on a long trip, and will need this iPod Touch. I'm not sure whether it's because I use iTunes on a nonAdmin account. I didn't think it would affect anything downloaded from iTunes on the web to the iPod.

    me too ..it *****
more & more people are experiencing this and what is apple doing about it ? theres no set instructions other than the stupid stuff that everyone already tries i.e rebooting your pc/laptop, lol just paid for an update & i cant even use my itouch at all at the moment, what was the point ?
hope you all manage to get it sorted

  • Extension Manager CS5 5.0 Update frozen

    Hi all,
I started to update some of my Adobe applications today (I'm running CS5 on a 2x2.66 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon mac using OS X version 10.6.6), and the "update progress" on my Adobe Application Manager has been frozen on "Adobe Extension Manager CS5 5.0 Update" for over an hour at 12.5 % Complete. Wondering what the best solution is -- do I force quit Adobe Application Manager, and try updating again, or will this cause a giant headache? I've got deadlines today and I'd hate to lose more time by having to reinstall everything and clean up a big mess if it's unavoidable...
    Would love some advice. Thanks!
    Dan

    Hi Dan,
The update froze at the downloading phase, right? (the updates windows display "Currently Downloading ...")
If it freezes at the installing phase(the updates windows display "Currently Installing") it will not be the server's problem.

  • Failed update/frozen iPod

The update to iOS6.01 failed with an unknown error. My iPod Touch is now frozen with the screen that shows a USB cable pointing to the iTunes icon. I tried resetting by holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons at the same time, but immediatel after the Apple logo appears the USB screen reappears. iTunes doesn't recognize the iPod.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Apps Install Update Frozen

    No device
Help!?  Last night I noticed that one of my apps had an update available.  So I tapped it for the upgrade and suddenly my phone starts downloading and installing not just the update for the app I had opened, but for 6 apps!  There was no way to stop this!
Now all these apps say they are "installing" - since last night.  There are no error messages.  The drop down menu gives me options of "pause all downloads" or "delete paused downloads" but neither of these options work.  Everything appears to be frozen.
How do I stop this?  How can I reset things?  I have even tried to delete apps to stop it, but it will not even let me delete them.  This is very frustrating.  And of course, I cannot now synch my phone because the PocketMirror app is the app that started this mess.

Have you tried a restart on the device? If this does not work you can try a erase apps and data. Both options are under Device Info, Reset Options.

  • IPad update frozen

The update for my iPad is frozen and I can't even access the app.  Can someone please help me

The application is connected to your account. If you login on iTunes with your account this should work normally.
It sounds like you either have the wrong account somehow or if your network is down.
Deleting and reinstalling without iTunes is normally the way to go.
    thanks,
    Ignacio

  • IOS update frozen

i started the IOS8 update on my iPhone 5
the download was ok but the implementation of IOS is frozen half way since 12 hours, showing the apple sign and the progress bar.
And this happened in the same way to my second iphone 5.
what to do ? help me please .

    Hello xdx59
When you are unable to update on your iPhone and it appears to be stuck at the progress bar, the first article will give some troubleshooting options to get it back up and running. If you are still stuck, then the next step would be to follow the steps in the second article which would have you restore your iPhone.

  • Software Update Frozen

After I run Software Update, it'll find an update, but when I go to click on install or any of the other choices I can't. Everything is frozen. However, I can drag the box around. How do I fix this so I can install updates?
    -Skifahrer7

I'm reporting a similar problem - software update seems to get stuck. The fix did not work.
I have a macbook pro 13" 2010, has RAMDISK 256GB, OS 10.6.6. Only owned it 3 weeks, ran several cycles of update without a hitch after migrating from a 3-year old MacbookPro running OS 10.5.8. No problems with Update until today, system wanted to upgrade iMovie 9.0.2 and Brother Printer System (argh!).
As soon as I get the update window, says 2 items to install, the "Install now" button is grayed out, and items inside this window are slow to respond: I click on "Show Details" and (seconds later) the list of software items appears, the check-boxes are unchecked and when I try to check the boxes, there is a 30 to 60 second lag in UI response to the checkboxes or dialog elements. I can move the window, there is no spinning beach ball, other apps respond normally. The system monitor says there is plenty of disk and RAM, the most active CPU thread is Software Update occupying 10% to 20% CPU, no hog processes visible. I tried force-quitting SW Update several times, same deal. I also ran Verify & Fix permissions, and Verify Disk (some permissions were odd, but disk verify was clean).
I did notice that the SW Update dialog (Show Details window) said "Update downloaded" in a status update at the bottom of the window. Hey wait, I never even gave the OK to install all, I just looked at the Show Details window. Seems SW Update is getting ahead of me.
I tried the deletion of the files mentioned as a fix, mentioned above in this thread. Still no change in behavior.
However, I eventually just waited out the lag in UI response and finally got to install the items, successfully (no reboot was needed). I'm also running Little Snitch, but never seen it get in the way of SW update before. Hope the SW Update is not going bad on us.

I'm in the middle of doing a software update and (its the latest snow leopard update) and its frozen with like 3 pixles left but its been sitting here for like 1/2 hour... any ideas on what to do?

Let's assume you have a cloned backup:
    1. Start from the backup
    2. Download the update combo version
    3. Open Disk Utility and repair the internal drive
    4. Reapply update to the internal drive

  • 10.9.1 update frozen

    Hi all,
Tried to update my MacBook Pro to 10.9.1 and it has been frozen on the grey screen saying "Installing 1 item" for a few hours now. Is it just a slow update or is something wrong here?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
The OS X 10.9.1 installation should not take more than a few minutes. Hold the Power button until your Mac turns off, and turn it on again.
If your Mac does not start up, hold the Shift key while your computer is starting up to start up into safe mode, and reinstall 10.9.1 from the Apple website > http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1707
