5.1 Update to Studio question

Does 5.1 stands only for the UNIVERSALIZATION of software ( as it is now) or it is also an improvement, new feature or so for the PowerMAC users?

Reboot your iPad and then see if you can set the security questions.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

Problem updating Logic Studio

Hey there all,
I have been having a problem updating Logic Studio 9. My purchased version is 9.0 (full, not upgrade) and I tried to update to 9.1 a while ago. When I did it, I got this very strange error message that said there was a system error of some sort. This of course sent me in to a panic, however my system itself seems to be stable, so I can only assume this is a problem with the updated software.
Eventually, I deleted the updated software (which left 9.0 on my system), and since then (this was a WHILE ago), I've spent a lot of time trying to figure out what to do to be able to update the software. I can't tell you how many times I have uninstalled, reinstalled, and re-uninstalled the original disks. I just can't get the software updater to recognize that I uninstalled 9.1 so that I can re-download the software update. And for god know what reason, I am not able to connect to the downloads server to get the upgrade.
Can anyone tell me where/how/if I can fix this?? Logic 9.0 keeps crapping out on me. I'd like to have access to my songs, etc.

A couple of ideas. Is your OS up to date? Are you running SL? It's better for LP9 than Leopard. Is LP9 registered?
Software updates sometimes have a proapp u/date. This is for Logic/final cut etc. If they aren't on your system, the later LP u/date might not install.
Another reason why LP 9 caps out is ram. I have LP8, and I know 9 requires more ram. 1G is at the low end, and might be insufficient for the OS and LP9. Run out of ram and the app will crash. This true if you load samples or drums etc,
If LP 9 isn't registered, the apple server won't let you get 9.1. I tried, as I wanted to go from 8 to 9 and bypass the bugs in LP 9.0. 9.1 is more stable.

Click "Manage My Account", sign in, and go to the Password and Security section. Answer the security questions and you'll be taken to a screen where you can then change them. If you've forgotten your answers, there should be a link just under the security questions fields where you can have a reset email sent to your Rescue email address. If the link for the email doesn't appear, as can happen if you didn't set a rescue email address or (apparently) have a .Mac email address, go here:

Updating to Studio from Pro w/o serial number.

I have somehow acquired a CD box with the update to studio but I downloaded pro 9 from the app store. When I try to install Studio it asks for my previous serial number which I do not have as serial numbers are not neccessary when purchasing from the app store.
Can anyone help at all with this problem?

If you have a Logic Studio upgrade (either from Studio v1.. Logic Pro 8, or Express etc), the installer will be expecting the *original* serial (from the version you are "upgrading" from)... which you probably do not have.

Hello. I am trying to make my first purchase on itunes and cannot remember answers to security questions that I may have established some time ago. They said if I forgot the answers that I need to contact customer support and this has been a challenge in its own (why is it so difficult?!). At any rate, can I PLEASE get some help as to what I need to do so that I can make some purchases? How do I update my security questions as this seems to be the only reason I cannot go any further on itunes?

Updating logic studio 8 - help needed!

Can anyone cleverer than me help me with a problem?
I bought a second hand mac book pro and it had a copy of logic pro on it that when you opened it asked for the serial number. I had logic plat 6 on my previous mac and I bought the update to studio pro 8, installed it with the xs key in and it all seemed to work fine until i did a software update and tried to launch it again. It just came up asking for the serial no as before which the upgrade version doesn't have on the packaging. I then have to reinstall which again works until i try to update.
I have tried:
uninstalling logic using appzapper before reinstalling.
entering the serial no that is shown when the app is opening up.
running update with the xs key in.
none of these have worked and it's starting to get annoying. I think it must be to do with the version that was on the machine when i got it but using appzapper i have no idea how to get rid of it.
Any help on this would be hugely appreciated.

You've confused me with this. Are you saying that your Logic Studio Upgrade package doesn't have a serial number? Because it should. Inside the box are several thin documents, one of which is called 'Installing Your Software.' You'll find your serial number on that.
It's very possible that if you used App Zapper to uninstall the previous LP8 it didn't find the folder that contains the Serial #, and therefore Logic is still running on your friends number. (I just opened LP8 in App Zapper and it didn't find that folder). Go to Your User/Library/Preferences/Logic, and dump the files within that folder. There are Logic preference files in the Preferences folder, but you want to dump the ones *inside the Logic folder within the Preferences folder*.
You shouldn't have to reinstall Logic to get it to be under your license. Just dump the files mentioned above, start Logic, put in the Serial Number in your package, and then it will be running on yours. You might need the XS key in for that.
Once it's all squared away, and it's running from your serial number, you should be able to update Logic without the XS Key and without having to put in your Serial Number each time.
