5.2 Language Support

I was just reading that an instance of ME can only support one language at a time, is this true?
Only support one language per server/install
The web browser, Netweaver, and the database server must be configured to use the same language
We are planning to have regionalized instances of ME with multiple sites in multiple countries (who may or may not speak the same language) using the same installation.  Is this possible?
Also, what languages are supported in ME 5.2?

This is my current understanding of the language support.
When installing ME 5.2, you have to install as one of the supported languages.  This means the browser, certain settings in the server operating system and the database installation are expected to be consistent with this one language.  ME assumes the database, server OS and client browser are all using the same language.
This is how ME 5.2 is certified and tested.  One language at all 3 layers.
In reality, you can switch to the other supported languages in your browser and most of ME will appear in that language.  Certain text (descriptions) may still be displayed in that original installation language.  Some reports/lists may be sorted in the collation sequence in use on the database server, not the language from the browser.  Most other features in ME will display in the language set by the browser.
The key here is that not all combinations of DB, server OS and browser languages have been tested together.  This means some issues may occur if you mix them across all 3 layers.  ME is not certified to work with a German database server, Chinese app server and English browser.  The number of possible combinations with all 3 layers is unmanageable for our testing.

multi-language support for user-specified text strings used in the forms
Instead of creating multiple forms, 1 in each different language, for the same service, is there any workaround?

Hoan - is your question what are the considerations when creating multiligual catalogs? If so, I can tell you that at other clients I have seen them use a single catalog for one or two languages. For the two langugages, such as Spanish/English, you can create a single catalog with both of them. Once you get to more than two languages, the catalog would get unweildy and is therefore not suggested.

  • How to configure Oracle National Language Support for Hindi

    Hello
I am Working on one library project and right now it is in foxpro.
it is working in local(hindi) language using c-dec software. Now i want to run this project using oracle national
language support.i have done lots of rnd on that but till could not get success.what's wrong with that?
Following the step i am applied for that
1 I have create the database using in8iscii character set. Because In8iscii support the Hindi Language.
2 Set the variable NLS_LANG = hindi_india.in8iscii in environment. I am using the Windows 2000 OS because
    it supports the Hindi font(Mangal).
3 I am using the Oracle Developer as front end so using mangal font in front end i am able to display data
in Hindi format that's why i am selected Windows 2000 os.
4 I have done the special setting in Windows 2000 for Hindi.it is in controlpanel-regional setting-click the indic option
for india and in input locals set keyboard layout as Hindi also.
5 I also changed the Init.ora file and add the NLS_LANGUAGE = Hindi
nls_territory = india. now, I opens the database using this Init.ora file.
6 But It can't display the data in Hindi format.I could not able to display the data in Front End also.
So,pls help me in Oracle and also guide me in Linux platform also.
    null

    Hi Nimit,
I have tried inserting Hindi/Marathi into an Oracle database (I have tried versions 8.0.6 and 8.1.7).
I created the database using UTF8 character set. The NLS_LANG was set to AMERICAN_AMERICA.UTF8. Inserts into the database were via iSQL*Plus or import. For querying I used OCI and Pro*C. The data for my app is being served up as XML. I have not tried Developer. The DB platforms have been both HPUX and Win2K, while the client platform has been Win2K/IE5.5 SP2. I have been using Code2000 as the font.
Did you manage to view the stored data using the export utility ?
Also, you can try using yudit to edit unicode files on Linux.

  • Language Support for iPhone

I just got the iphone this morning. Its pretty good, except for two big problems. One is the EDGE network, which is slow, but nothing to be done about that.
The second is the lack of language support. I expected it to support the languages that OS X does, but it seems that the iphone is most limited in this regard. Of particular irritation to me is the lack of Hebrew support, as a good chunk of my iTunes library is in hebrew. In addition, websites don't render correctly with unsupported languages...
Is this going to be fixed? soon?!

    Tom,
The limitation seems to be one of the 4 included encodings that are in Mac OSX's version of Safari, but not supported by iPhone's Mail interface. I received 6 emails from Japan (thru the iPhone's Yahoo mail interface) and one of them came in as junk characters. In a browser, you can just keep trying the other encodings to make the junk characters readable-this is not possible (from what I can tell) within iPhone's mail interface.
If I have time, I will log into the Yahoo mail account directly thru Safari on the iPhone, to see if that works better than iPhone mail-but I'm assuming they use a similar encoding scheme. I also assume that once they release the iPhone in Japan, this will be addressed

  • Korean Language Support Package required for Reader but not Acrobat?

One of our departments on campus has created a form that is causing some users to get a message prompting them to download the Korean Language Support Package in order to fill in the form fields.
When I originally tested this in Acrobat Pro 9 I didn't get any errors.  Another user also reported the issue recently (two this week).  So we tested it again, but this time used both Reader 9 and Reader X -- both programs were generating this message to download the language pack.  The form appears to be completely in English with no Korean characters.  It uses fairly standard fonts and I didn't see any embedding or encoding issues with the fonts.
Aside from having end users download a Korean Language Support Pack to view a PDF that doesn't seem to contain any Korean, are there any other options out there without recreating the form from scratch?  Here is a list of the fonts used in the PDF.  The only types of encoding are Ansi and Identity-H (which I expanded in the SS above), with the latter fonts being embedded within the PDF.
Any ideas?  The form is linked below.  Thanks in advance for your replies.
Here is a link to the PDF

    SOLVED
While our problems differ, my solution may still be relevant.
My culprit was a rogue font in an embedded Visio drawing. I identified and located the font using the "List text using non-embedded fonts" Preflight analysis in Acrobat 9.4 Pro. I checked the encoding of each non-embedded font and discovered that Arial Unicode MS used Korean font encoding (specifically, KSCms-UHC-H). See screenshot below. Doubleclicking on one of the font properties highlighted the offending text in the pdf.
I went to that location in the source file, which happened to be in the first embedded Visio drawing (shown above). I double clicked the drawing, selected all, and selected Arial font. Then I regenerated the pdf and viewed it in Reader X. The Korean language pack error message did not appear and all Visio drawings displayed normally.
I would recommend using the Acrobat preflight tools to locate text or objects with incorrect font encoding within your PDF or form, then surgically striking (or carpet bombing) the affected location(s) in the source files with embedded/supported fonts.
    Hope this helps.

  • Fails trying to update Reader 9.1.3 with 9.0 language support.

I have upgraded my reader to 9.1.3, selected my language "english", and ran the upgrade program.  The update program says I need to install Adobe Reader 9.0 Language Support.  When I try to do this, the error message is "Adobe Reader 9.0 Language Support failed to install".  I have tried this with a very limited protection (ie virus detection) and with no protection.  Same result.  When I search the updates URL, there is no Adobe Reader 9.0 Language Support.  I did install the Adobe Reader 9.1.3 Multiple Language Support (at least I downloaded and ran the program).  Is this enough?

Thank you for the response, and sorry it took so long to respond in my own thread.
I tried using the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility, but it still doesn't work. I opened up Registry Editor, and browsed to the key it said was missing. It doesn't look like I have that key - the only thing in there is something that says (default) in the name column, type is REG_SZ, and under data it says (value not set). I have no idea what any of this means, and I'm also not sure how to see what permissions I have. Can you make any sense of this?

  • HELP!! Installation of OS X Panther 10.3 stops at Asian Languages Support

I had trouble trying to move the user directory onto another harddrive so I have had to reinstall from scratch. I have a clean harddrive that has been formatted (extended journalled) twice, and written over with zeros...
When the installer get to 'Processing Asian Languages Support' 38% it stops dead and doesn't continue. No error message is displayed. It was frozen for a least 24 hours before I rebooted and tried again, but to no avail.
    Can anybody offer any advise?

    gemmakls:
The G4 (Gigabit Ethernet) shipped with OS 9.0.4.
With a HDD that has been reformatted, and the data zeroed, you should not have a problem installing unless:
    1. You have improper of faulty install disks
    2. there is some hardware issue.
    Here is what I suggest:
    1. Repair Disk
Insert Installer disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu (Panther and earlier) or Utilities menu (Tiger) and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel, and report if it says anything but Verified)
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
If DU reports errors it cannot repair you will need to use a utility like Tech Tool Pro or Disk Warrior
    2. If that does not help run Apple Hardware Test from the disc that came with your computer.
    Good luck.

  • Multi Language support for universes created on SAP BW/BI

    Dear Gurus,
When I am going through the document "using SAP BW in Designing OLAP universes"
    http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/boexir31/en/xi3-1_sap_olap_universes_en.pdf
in 13 th page under the heading "SAP BW Multilingual universes" I found the below statements.
"With Web Intelligence, it is possible to leverage the multilingual capabilities
of SAP BW. In order to implement a multilingual environment, the BW system
must include multilingual metadata and multilingual data.
You must create a universe for each language supported by the solution.
The language in which the universe connection is created determines the
language in which the universe is generated.
The user's SAP authentication determines the language of the data returned
to the query. The user must log into InfoView using SAP authentication and
specify the desired language for results returned from the SAP server.
The result-set language is dependent on SAPu2019s Unicode support. If the SAP
system does not contain the data in the desired language, the data is not
available in Web Intelligence in this language. Web Intelligence reverts to
displaying technical names instead of descriptions when the descriptions
are not translated in SAP BW."
After reading the above statements i got the impression that if i want to see the report in 10 languages then i need to create the universe in each language with seperate connection in each language.
if my understanding is correct. it araises below questions.
    1. if i am creating one universe for each language will it not increase maintainance?
    2. or is there any option available in universe designer which takes the replica of the universe into the desired language?
Please clarify me the above doubts.
    Many thanks in Advance
    Jagadeesh Ambati

    Hi,
when you read it you will recognize it does make a difference between the actual data that you retrieve and the meta-data being retrieved from BW.
    Meta-Data:
    >>The language in which the universe connection is created determines the
    >>language in which the universe is generated
    Data:
The user's SAP authentication determines the language of the data returned
to the query. The user must log into InfoView using SAP authentication and
specify the desired language for results returned from the SAP server.
The result-set language is dependent on SAPu2019s Unicode support. If the SAP
system does not contain the data in the desired language, the data is not
available in Web Intelligence in this language
The user can set a Preferred Viewing language in the Preferences in InfoView.

  • RTL & Indian Language Support for Indesign CS6 Mac

    Hi,
I am using Adobe Indesign CS6 Mac version and need support to using Arabic and Indian Language Support. I am not able to write this language. When I am pasting from Word or anywhere text is going cracked.
I also learn to enable language support from Character setting but I can't find Kashidas option on my Indesign.
It will be very helpful if some one support how to enable this option or download.
    Best Regards,
    Rakesh

That's because Larry is correct, and Ellis is correct about you needing to take Larry's advice if you don't have the World-Ready Composer in your menu. You need something like the World Tools plugin from InTools to access the complex-script tools not available in the menus in your install of CS6.
(Or you could employ Ellis' other suggestion and move to the Cloud. But World Tools is rather less expensive in the long term.)

  • Re: Native Language Support in Forte

    [email protected] wrote:
I've been posed a question in the abstract about Forte's native language
support. Does Forte support any languages other than C/C++? And if so,
what are the limitations or caveats?
Native Language Support could also mean the NLS standard which Forte supports. This
provides for Internationalization (I18N) of a Forte application. This means a client
application deployed in french, german, and english (for example), could all be making
requests of the same Forte shared service and getting responses in the native language.
We provide for changing the language/character set displayed both statically before the
application starts, and dynamically change it while the application is running.
If support native language support means ability for Forte to call existing application
logic written in C/C++, then today you can "wrapper" C functions in a Forte Class,
instantiate the class and "call-out" to the member functions (your c functions) directly
    from the 4GL object.
C++ functions are a challenge due to cross platform C++ compiler issues which at a
minimum include "name mangling" being non-standard for all the C++ compilers.
However, you can "export" C++ class member functions as external "C" functions so that C
code can call the function as if it was regular K&R or ANSI C.
If other language support is required, I have customers on the East Coast which have
successfully wrappered MicroFocus Cobol on HP-UX, and the ADA language. This is due to
the concept of all 3GL languages today support the concept of allowing for their
language to be called from 'C' (other possibilities are Pascal, Fortran, etc).
Here the only caveat is you need to be aware of the other language's "boot-code" may be
registering for operating system "signals" and not handling them appropriately. This
rarely is an issue these days.
If other language support means do we code generate our 4GL language to any language
other than 'C++', the answer is currently "no".
However, we do support exporting Service object definitions to environments like DCE,
CORBA, Encinca (a TP monitor), and the WWW. In our next release we will complete our
support for exporting services objects to Java. This will allow for Java applications to
call upon the power of Forte's Shared Services architecture. Using this exporting
concept, applications written in various other languages would be able to "call-in" to
the Forte shared service from the ourside world.
Didn't know what you were looking for. Hope the above hit the mark. If not, write me, or
    give me a call.
    Regards,
    jim

Not exactly sure what you are asking. Can you rephrase your question?
If your other server's locale is same as the one you configured then it should be ok.

  • Win 8.1. Core language and multi-language support.

    HI,
I've used a US developed program with multi-language support for years in Win XT and Win 7. As the program now supports win 8.1. I've upgraded to 8.1. and the new release of the program. However it will not work properly and the reason given is
that my version of 8.1. has a different core language compared with what  the program uses and this version is not multi-language supported. Now I wonder if there are various versions of  the core language in 8.1. or is the core
language unique, supported by various language packets for menu's, guiding texts, etc.  Why do I then need a multi-language supported program? Where can I put this question?
    Regards
    Sverre

    I'd probably try them here.

  • Foreign languages support.

Are there any plans for Greek language support?
    Thanks

What is meant by the translation is not correct?  Can you be specific?
PM has trouble with extended character sets as it can only access the first 256 glyphs of a font, and that includes Central European languages.
See here: Cyrillic, Greek, Turkish, or Central European (CE) fonts don't print correctly (PageMaker 7.x on Windows)
You could solve it by using the correct Czech font set, but your long term answer is to move on from PM to InDesign which handles OpenType fonts with ease. And produces PDFs quickly and accurately.

  • How can I get English language support in South Korea?

I'm British living in South Korea. A few times now I have needed to get in touch with support but the Korean site only has Korean language. My Korean is not good enough to have a conversation in Korean. Anyone know how I can get Englsih language support in South Korea?

Is there an official site where I can install a
    language pack for Armenian?
Armenian reading and writing support is already included in OS X. The font is called Mshtakan. To input you need to activate one of the Armenian keyboard layouts by going to system preferences/international/input menu and checking their boxes, plus the box for "show input menu in Finder," then selecting Armenian in the "flag" menu at the top right of the finder.
Armenian requires a modern Unicode app and will not work with Appleworks or Word X.
OS X does not yet have an Armenian system localization (menu and dialogues).
If you don't have the things described above on your system, let us know.
