5.4.1 Update is not being installed

Hi,
after the automatic download got the Airport Utility 5.4.1 update, the MAC restarts. So far so good.
Starting the Airport Utility it keeps telling me that there is a new update available (5.4.1). Options are 'Cancel' and 'Update'. Clicking 'Update' starts the Apple update process with the result that there is no new update available and the Airport Utility quits. Choosing 'Cancel' lets me work with the software, even update the firmware.
A manual download and installation of the update did not work either and this happens on my iMAC as well as on my MBP.
Has anyone an idea what is causing this and how I'm able to update my software?

1) Uninstall Adobe Creative Cloud from Control panel.
2)Open C:drive and navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe.
Open Adobe folder and delete folders named Adobe Application Manager and OOBE.
3)
Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe.
Open Adobe folder and if present delete Adobe Creative Cloud folder.
4)
Press Windows button (located between Ctrl and Alt buttons) along with R button together at a time , you will get a run command window.
Type in below command and hit 'Enter' key.
appdata
Then navigate to Local>Adobe.
Open Adobe folder and delete folders named AAMUpdater and OOBE.
5)Run the Adobe Cleaner tool , if present remove Creative Cloud Desktop or Adobe Application manager.

Firefox 3.6.x versions are still updated with security patches (Firefox 3.6.18 is due in about two weeks).
You are unfortunately out of luck with an Intel Mac and OS X 10.4.11.<br />
There is a compatible version from for a PowerPC Mac, but no alternative for an Intel Mac.

With the latest update I get the following error: The update could not be installed. Please make sure there are no other copies of Firefox running on your computer, and then restart Firefox to try again; suggestions, advice, help.

Help>About Firefox> says I am using Firefox/3.6.10./GTB7.1 I get a note from Mozilla that there is an update. I download it after granting permission to change my machine. I say OK. A green bar slides across the monitor announcing that the update is being downloaded. When I then assume it is being installed I get the following error: The update could not be installed. Thanks for the info about Trojan. It may be the problem. Meanwhile I went to Admin/Owner side and did some cleaning -- including trying to reload my Favorite/Bookmarks that have always carried forth from previous levels of Windows XP and earlier.
The new computer here did not grab the Bookmarks from the previous, and yesterday I thought I had them loaded, and today went to Worker-Bee side and they are not showing.
About those add-ons... I have no idea, but think I got everything up to date yesterday. I will look at your earlier reply tomorrow or this weekend when I have more time at home to learn from it.

"The update could not be installed" message

Every time I start Firefox I get a dialog box with this message:
The update could not be installed. Please make sure that there are no other copies of Firefox running on your computer and then restart Firefox to try again. [OK button]
I click the OK button, the box disappears, then Firefox starts up.
It's annoying. I have tried updating Firefox in the Admin account on this computer, but even that has not worked. Why might this be happening, and what can I do about it?

So this is rapid updating? I had to stop using V5 because of problems. V5.01 did improve things. FF was still my default browser so I did get to follow the upgrade to V6. Now the suggestion that completely removing it and editing the registry will enable me to see if V6 is worth having. Please, this is not rapid. This is the kind of problem that stopped me using Norton, having to deal with more issues that actually using the software.
No doubt I will attempt this sometime, by then though I may have just got used to Chrome [yuk]. It is not a good sign that being more news worthy is better than having a working product. I'm a web and app developer and it has served me well until V4 now it is just getting in the way and Mozilla seem to think that just one more rapid release [with problems like this] may just solve the problems.
I think not after all I'm still waiting for MS to fix things that should have been better 10 years ago.

The 3G cannot be updated to iOS6, it can only go to iOS 4.2.1.

I noted that one of the updates in the list for my wife's iMac was an update to Software Update itself. Probably to fix this very problem. But it wasn't being applied due to Software Update itself not working.
I considered two solutions.
(1) Uncheck all the updates except that one update to Software Update. Then after fixing Software Update, apply all the other updates remaining. I did NOT try this approach.
(2) Download and install the "combo update" for 10.6 -- from here

I decided to try solution #2. It's a large download, 1 GB, but the whole process took less than 15 minutes. The "combo" update checks and reapplies every update since the beginning of 10.6, so if something is missing or amiss, it gets filled in. It's done manually, by downloading the update, opening the .dmg file, and running the update. When I did this, it fixed the Software Update issue because I then reran Software Update and additional, new updates were found and they all installed fine. Software Update was working as it should. I then ran it a third time and some additional ones were found, also then successfully applied. Finally, no new updates were found by Software Update, which mean everything is up to date.
I can't be sure if your issue is the same as mine (the bug in the CNET article above) but I'm guessing that the combo update will resolve your issue.

*Do a clean reinstall and download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.
*Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer. Do not remove personal data when uninstalling.
*It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
You can skip the step to create a new profile, that is not necessary for this issue.

The latest supported server OS is Windows 2003. any newer Server OS is incompatible with the printer.

I'm using Firefox 4 Beta and I tryed install update but I dont got success. Now every time that I go start the browser is displayed the mensage: "The update could not be installed. Please make sure there are no other copies of Firefox running on your computer, and then restart Firefox to try again"
My release is installed not in default drive C:\. I installed in the other Partition on my PC.
I don't have other release installed.

Try a clean re-install.
* Download the setup file from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/RC (this is for the Firefox 4 release candidate)
* Uninstall Firefox, do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data"
* Delete the Firefox installation directory - http://kb.mozillazine.org/Installation_directory
* Re-install Firefox
This process does not remove the Firefox user data such as bookmarks and passwords which are stored elsewhere in the profile folder.

I have uninstalled all versions of Firefox. Then went to the Internet through Explorer and downloaded from scratch. A few days later I started getting the message again.

If there are problems with updating then best is to download the full version and uninstall the currently installed version and delete the Firefox program folder to remove any leftover files.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

I am running Mountain Lion 10.8.2 and trying to install Adobe Camera Raw 7.1 update. However, I receive the following message: "Updates could not be installed. Please contact your Administrator [namely, me!] if you wish to apply updates on your machine. Updates have been suppressed by the Administrator." I have, however, checked the box "Allow applications downloaded from Anywhere" in the Security pane of System Preferences.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
