+5 Voltage alert

Hi,
When I'm playing a game it will stop and PC Alert will have +5 V in red flashing.
It is running at 4.65 right now.  I also will have the pc shut down on my once in awhile.
I think my power supply is 250 watts.  Is this the problem?

..." I think my power supply is 250 watts.." Most possible your P.Su. is almost die.
you should go for a minimun 350W Enemax or similar good brand or over 400 W
on a not so good brand with near 30A. in 3.3 and 5v. and over 20A. in 12v. rail.

  • 9131 Siren, no post. HELP!

Hi - I just got a 9131.  When I try to power it up, the green link lights on the nic's flash back and forth, and after about 5 seconds a low-high-low-high-low-high-low-high beep begins.
I've tried it with Opteron 248's (two and one) Opteron 240's (two and one) and with everything from 1 to 6 sticks of Corsair PC2700 ECC Registered DDR and 1 to 4 sticks of Wintec PC2700 ECC Registered DDR with the exact same result.
    using a SuperFlower SF-530T03 power supply (46A 5v, 30A +12v, 35A 3.3v) and the headsinks included with the processors.
any suggestions?  REALLLL frustrated, as I've checked both the CPUs and all the memory on a Tyan board (with identical power supply).
    HELP!

Check that the fan has been connected to the correct point on the motherboard - in case it is misleading you as to which fan setting is the problem. There are several fan points, and it is quite possible to connect the fans to the wrong ones - thus you may think it's one fan, and it's really another one!
        Sun, 08.02.04 | 20:37
The CPU fan alert can only be based on whether the fan is going or not. If it's going (ie the tach says 5000+rpm) and you're still getting an alert, then the ONLY conclusion is that the motherboard BIOS sensing is faulty. Are you absolutely sure that :- It's a fan alert (and not a temperature or voltage alert) It's the CPU fan giving the alert (and not a general fan alert actually being caused by a different fan, such as a case fan or PSU fan)
Well my only other suggestion is that there's a fault in the PSU which for short periods drops the 12V to the fans - this might mean the tacho gives no output, resaulting in zero rpm - and the alert goes off.
It's a bit difficult to imagine it's yet another motherboard or fan with the same fault - and the PSU is probably the only other possible culprit.
Does the speed of any other monitored fans also drop to zero at the same time - this would be a dead giveaway of a common cause - ie the PSU.
A friend of mine had a problem like this which was caused by a wrong in the bios. It was a Soltek board and as far as I can remember there was a setting to warn if the cpu fanspeed exceeded a speed of your choice. I believe the warning was set to 4000 rpm and the fan was doing 5000+ . Altering the setting to 6000 stopped the alarm instantly.
Just a thought but have you checked PC Health Status in the BIOS under CPU Warning Temperature, this could be set too low and is triggering an alarm at 46 deg C, if so set this too a higher temperature. If the CPU is AMD then they can stand a temp. of up to 80degC. Hope this helps.
I think I have found it but you might not have it, of course.
    1. Choose SmartDoc Anti-Burn Shield from the main bios menu (it is bottom right on mine)
    2. Choose CPUFan warning Speed and set a figure for the fan speed. When the cpufan speed is BELOW this figure the warning will go. It seems to be a series of beeps.
I am sorry that some of this is not as I originally stated (age thing) as apparently the warning is that your fan is not performing as well as expected. ie slower.
Anyway, I hope some of this helps.
    Hondo here again
In the midst of my despair this made my day someone posted this link

  • SE3510 FC with ALERT "Voltage sensor status"

    Hi Experts,
I have one SE3510 FC with Single Raid Controler connected to Sun V440 via HBA (DAS), the system has been working well at production for two years but suddently, Yesterday, SE3510 FC had Audible beep out continueously and I saw only Power/fan LED at Front-panel turned to brinking amber (All rear-panel LEDs of Power Supply Units lit with steady Green ).First step that i tried to test is to run sccli> show event that returning one line as below:
"SES device on Sun Storage Array S/N#02E834 ALERT: CH2 ID2 Voltage sensor status is changed to critical (S9)".
At my knowlege about this message, i supposed that there is one of power supply units is working improperly due to DC output supply unit ??.Or it's required to upgrade firmware for SES device (Existing SES Rev: 1040; Raid Controler's revison : 3.27R) to meet up with any changes related to FRUs( battery module replaced also) before ?.
Pls help me to trouble-shoot this problem.
    Thanks
    Scott_land

show enclosure-status command in sccli will show you status of componets in 3510
    look for records:
    PS 0
    PS 1
    and Voltage:
    info about sensor locations:
    http://docs.sun.com/source/816-7300-20/ch08_troubleshoot.html
S9 - "sensor 9" belongs to "Lower I/O Module", so I'm not sure that the problem is with power supply ...
Probably it worth to try "replug" Power supplies and RAID Controller.

  • Voltage alarm with PCI Alert III

    Hi,
I have installed a 845eMax motherboard with Pentium 4 2.0. The 3.3v voltage continously goes down below the 2,93 threshold in the PCI Alert III software. Is this dangerous? I have recently bought the computer and I could change the motherboard if it were broken.
    Thanks.

I think the PC Alert III is a quite unexact device and cannot be trusted. It has only informative function.
I had before an 250 W PSU and changed to Enermax 433 W.
I have exact the same voltage values with both PSU s.
    V core 1.71-1.74V
    3.3V    3.21-3.31V
    5 V      4.92-4.95V
    12V    12.00-12.10V

  • Voltage alarm with PC Alert 4

    Hi,
    I have a 645E Max-C motherboard with a P4-2.26Ghz CPU.
The 3.3v voltage meter measures 3.04 normally and drops below the 3.00 threshold when running Games, Graphic demos etc.
Im using an ASUS V8440 Graphic card.
The PSU (400 watt) amps are:
    +3.3V - 28A
    +5V    - 40A
    +12V  - 18A
    -5V     - 1.0A
    -12V   - 1.0A
    +5VSB- 3.0A
I'm also getting frquent hangs at graphics apps such as 3DMark2001SE, various demos (NVSDK) and games. Could this be the reason ?
    Thanks,
    Eran Kampf

sounds like your psu is faulty
    assuming hats a gf4 i suggest branded,over 200 watts combined and about 30 amps 3.3 v

    Dear Marvin
    Thanks for the reply.
In the below thread "Joseph clarke" mentioned that this is known limitation by DFM. Is there any document of DFM which is mentioning this limitation of DFM. I m using Cisco Prime 4.1 LMS

    Re: VoltageSensor OutOfRange
This is a known limitation of DFM.  Certain GBIC/XenPak modules do not have a voltage sensor.  In that case, they will report a voltage of 0 (which is fine).  In this case, you can unamange those interface voltage sensors that are not present under DFM > Device Management > Device Details.
I was also going through your discussion int the following post which is having the same error which i m getting

    Hi Hook,
It could be a false alarm , you can try delete and re-add the device in DFM alone.
1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.109.1.1.1.1.3.1  , you can do a direct SNMP WALK on this OID and see what
    values you get.
    Thanks-

  • Need Help With PC Alert

I have a 651 and recently installed PC alert.  It seems to be reading the tem and voltage just fine, but does not read the fan speeds.  Does this program even work with the 651?  If so, are there stttings I need to adjust?

    Same problem here...
But the temperatures displayed by PCAlert are with 3-4 degrees lower than those displayed by BIOS.

  • Maxwell Air Voltage - wireless charger

    Hi,
I bought recently a Maxwell Air voltage, wireless charger.
When charging, my iphone 4S does not stop vibrating every 2-3 min.
I would like to know if there are other similar experiences.
The company Maxell says this is not an issue, what I can't believe.
    Kind regards,

When you say vibrating are you saying the iPhone physically vibrates or the vibrate alert activates?  Eitehr way does not sound like it would be a good thing to have happen because of charging.  You might want to check with Apple support or a genius bar person and see if this is a problem for the iPhone...the iPhone is a lot more expensive than that charger.

  • Some alerts get caught by eventaction and some don't ...

Trying to find out why certain type of alerts get cought by eventaction and some don't.
Got all kinds of voltage errors, warnings and such and those get all the way to our Tivoli gateway.
I've disable a CPU on one of our box and i see it in the console but it never gets shipped to our Tivoli network.
Now i've enable ALL the errors in the Action i've setup so i would get everything sent out. I'm starting to run out of places to look.
If somebody has a clue or something (even documentation wise) i'm all for it.
    Thanks for you time.
    Eric

    Hi eberthiaume,
Already checked the log file ... its no where to be
found and that what is bothering me .. pretty strange
actually cause i can't see any filters on and i've
setup the Action so it takes all event from all the
servers every time and repeat each 10 minutes ....Do you mean the log doesn't exist at all, or that you never see your alarms in it?
I'm guessing the log is there, but when you trigger alarms for some hosts they appear as an entry in the log (and go to Tivoli)... but alarms from other systems never make it to the log (and never get sent to Tivoli).
    Here's a simple test:
    1) Trigger an alarm on an Agent that you know alarms don't appear for in EventActionHistory.log
    2) After you trigger the alarm and see it light up in the Console, switch to the "Alarms" tab for that Agent.
    3) Look for your alarm in that tab (press the refresh button a couple times if it doesn't show up in a few seconds)
If you see your alarm in the Alarms tab... but you don't see it in EventActionHistory.log within about 2 minutes.. then something is wrong (or misconfigured) with EventAction. If you don't see your alarm in the Alarms tab... then it's never making it into your SunMC Server's database... and there's something wrong with your Agent or Server. Go repeat steps 1-3 for an Agent that you've seen alarms from recently and confirm that if the alarm makes it to the Alarms tab it shows up in EventActionHistory.log soon after.
EventAction feeds off of the SunMC Oracle database.... if alarms don't make it to the database they will never make it to Tivoli either.
Based on what you find in the test steps you can decide if you should contact Sun support or Halcyon support.

  • KT4V +12 voltage issue

My KT4V is running a voltage reading of 12.78 - 13.20 in PC Alert. I get the same reading in the BIOS. PC Alert alarms at 13.00 and it's always going off.  Is this normal or is there some way to fix this other than turning off the alarm.

It might not damage anything but I'd keep a very close eye on it.  The ATX standard tolerance is +/- 5%, not 10. IE 12.6 max.

  • [Athlon64] Low Voltage Problem

Just built a new box and ran MSI PC Alert to check voltages, temps, etc.  The monitor program reported all temps, fan speed and voltages as good except 3.3v was reported as 0.56v!!!  I immediately checked the Bios and found the following voltages: Vcore/1.5v  12v/11.9  5v/4.9  Batt/3.0.
Since I couldn't find a phone number for MSI Support, I sent them a request form listing my concern. No response for 4 days.  Sent Antec a request and they advised me to check their power supply with a volt meter which I did.  The voltages were right on.  The system ran very stable for a few days then started having the BSOD.  I continued to monitor temps, fan speeds and voltages and all appeared fine with the exception of the errant 3.3 v which is steady at 0.56.  The BSOD may be related to my US Robotics wireless lan as the common denominator seemed to be when accessing the internet.  Updated the driver for this devise this AM and haven't had a problem since.  My main concern is the low 3.3v reading.  Any suggestions on what I can do to bring this reading into specs would be appreciated.

    Hi,I also have a the same problem,3.3V shows as0.56v with my k8m neo-v
But its working solid as rock,no other problems
I installed PC Alert3 and 4 ,speed fans, and EVEREST to check it out.But All of them showed 0.56V LOL
No replies from the MSI support as usual.
First i thought it was a BIOS problem before I saw your post, because my sempron+3000 cannot use
cool and quiet . Waiting for the BIOS to support cool and quiet. 64 2800 is OK.
I checked with different PSU(much powerful) units and diferrent combinations of memories(all tested with mem86)
I still dont know if this is a hardware or software problem,I am gonna try with WIN2K not XP and
find out whether it still shows 0.56V.
I know that if its really 0.56V ,it will not even boot.I am thinking its a sensor problem of the mobo
since everything is working fine, only 3.3V problem.
