  • 24 inch LED cinema Display miniDisplayPort goes black

24 inch LED cinema Display miniDisplayPort (2009) goes black with my MacBook Pro 2009.
It was working perfectly, but one day my cinema display went Black , and my cinema display is not recognized by my macbook !
And when I bring it to an Aple Store, it worked !
It seems to be a random issue.
I can't find what is the problem...
I tried my cinema display with another macbook and it works.
I tried my Macbook with antoher screen and it worked.
    Please help me.

I doubt reinstalling the OS will fix your problem but that's you choice.
FWIW I found the following 6-page thread which may be a similar problem to yours but you will have to search through it for relavance or ideas (I didn't read it):

  • Why does my 27 inch LED cinema display freeze my Macbook Pro when connecting?

    Hi,
I've had a 27 inch cinema display for about 2 years now and love it.
However, a good 50-70% of the time whenever I attach my MacBook Pro, currently 15 inch late 2011, rather than waking up the MBP, it just freezes the computer.  The same thing used to happen with my 13 inch MBP.
    Any ideas why that is?
    thanks,
    TT

I finally decided to just take my MBP down to the Apple store and see what would happen if I connected it to one of their new ACDs.  At 1st, the guy at the Genius Bar told me that my MBP only supported 1280x800 as a maximum resolution.  I told him that was for my MBP screen, and not an external monitor.  Finally I convinced him to let me connect my MBP to one of their monitors.  Low and behold, looking at the Display settings pane I saw some addtional resolutions, including 2560x1600!
So, now I have confirmed that my MBP can drive an external monitor to a resolution of 2560x1600, using just the single mini displayport connection.  I just have to figure out what's wrong with my ACD.  Suspecting that my older ACD might not support this higher resolution, I did finally discover that my model only supports a maximum resolution of 1920x1600.
    Sorry for all the confusion...

  • MacBook Pro, 27 inch LED Cinema Display and OSX 10.7

I do have a MacBook Pro and 27 inch Cinema Display. To improve the wireless connection I have to open the macbook. Doing so whilst running OSX 10.7 my Cinema Display changes autimaticaly to the settings of the MacBook display.
With OSX 10.6 this was OK.
Is this a bug or does anybody know how to overcome the change in display whilst opening the MacBook ?

Having the exact same issue, same set of circumstances.

  • LED cinema display doesn't work under boot camp

I just installed Boot Camp and Windows 7 x64 on a Macbook Pro 2010 (6,2) with and NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M 256MB video card. The Boot Camp drivers automatically installed during the process. I plugged in my 27 inch LED Cinema Display, which works just fine on the OS X side. However, the screen was dark, as if it wasn't plugged in.
Audio does go through the Cinema Display.
I have tried to repair the drivers twice by running the Boot Camp support software.  I also tried to run the NVIDIA driver installation software separately. It failed.
So, what can I do to get the Cinema Display working?
    Thanks.

I found a solution that worked for me. I deleted from my USB drive the Boot Camp support software that I had downloaded from the Apple website and downloaded in its place the support software through the Boot Camp Assistant program. I ran setup.exe, did the repair option and restarted. I then went to the NVIDIA driver install application on the USB drive and ran it. This time, it worked! I restarted the computer and both the laptop display and the Cinema Display lit up.
Originally, and during the previous 3 times trying to repair the drivers, I saw the ATI graphics driver getting installed. Somehow, it appears that the NVIDIA drivers didn't install before.
    I hope this helps others.

  • How to connect multiple Apple LED Cinema Displays to MacBook Pro

I have an Apple 24 inch LED Cinema display that I run from my MB Pro. I mainly use the MB Pro+ screen for document editing.
I would like to run a second Apple 24 inch Cinema display from the MB Pro. I am presently running another monitor successfully via a Dynalink USB splitter but would really prefer to run a second Apple monitor. I have enquired at two Apple Stores and browsed lots of sites. Multiple monitors from MB Pro seems ok (as long as it's not two Apple monitors). I would be surprised if Apple is content to pass up the opportunity to sell more of these superb screens.
Grateful for any advice and suggestions

  • Will my 27inch LED cinema display work with the 2014 MacPro?

I have two 27 inch LED cinema displays I bought in 2010 I think. I want to know if I can use both displays with the new cylindrical MacPro? My displays have mini display port connection and are non thunderbolt. I know that I cant daisy chain the monitors because they are NOT thunderbolt, but will I be able to connect both to the new MacPro's coming this December?

Thanks TurboStar for your excellent comments and suggestions. I have pre-ordered that Apple 27" LED Display now off Amazon.co.uk... it will be in stock on the 21st March.... and I look forward now with anticipation to getting my hands on it and more importantly my eyes... now that I have read your resounding approval of the 27" compared to my tired and jaded 30".
Interesting your comments about the new MacPro also... I think I went OTT when I bought my last 12 Core MacPro (32GB RAM + 512GB SSD)..... it cost me in total €8,800 ($12,200) which was mad money.... it's doing a great job.... but I don't work with video or video games, just Quark, Illustrator and Photoshop... so not sure if the 8 Core or less would have done the job just as good... I just wanted the best with what I thought was the most horsepower so I could take on any task. I will wait and review more with the New MacPro.... maybe the 6 Core is the way to go... and pump up the SSD and RAM....
    Thanks again.
    Regards,
    Anthony

  • Odd sound from 24-inch LED in sleep mode

Hello. I got the new 24-inch LED Cinema Display about a week ago. Looks awesome. Noticed an odd sound though that comes from the display when my MacBook Pro goes in sleep mode and only then. It's not extremely loud but is high pitched and is emanating from the back, around the power cord connector. Anybody else noticed? Wondering if it's something I should be worried about and consider exchanging before it worsens. Any thoughts appreciated.

Thanks for the reply. I have heard that ticking sound. It does not bug me and is not the one I'm writing about. The noise I'm referring to is high pitched sound that comes from the back of the display, around the power cord, when the MacBook Pro attached to it has been in sleep mode for a while. Just wondering if it's a defect and I should bring to the Apple Store. Display is otherwise spectacular and functioning flawlessly.

  • 24 inch LED Replacing Stand

Hey. I detached the stand from my 24" LED display for travel purposes - all fine. Re-attaching the stand is another story. Upon re-screwing the stand to the rear, I can't get the stand to slip into it's 'home' position. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

  • Does your new 27" LED Cinema Display buzz?

Got my 27 inch LED Cinema Display yesterday: very nice monitor.
However, I have noticed a feint buzz/ticking coming from the bottom right of the monitor when the brightness is set high. Just loud enough to be VERY annoying!
Is this a feature of the monitor? Does anyone else's new 27" Display have a buzz?

yes, the reason it sounds like the electromagnetic interference that induces tones in speaker drivers (such as the microwave energy from cell phones) is because it is essentially the same mechanical action... which is a resonation electromagnetic coil (which will produce tones at whatever frequency it is vibrating).
The specific tones that it is producing are dependant on the electrical properties of the circuits attached to the coupled device - but it's probably possible that particular properties could cause the coils to create more than a single tone (just like a speaker)... on mine the tone didn't quite sound singular, but since the amplitude was analogue to the brightness i guessed that this pointed the transformer.
It used to be such a serious problem in inductively coupled conductive devices that it could shake the devices to pieces. These days it's only really an irritation in terms of noise - but it remains necessary to design the structure and housing of these devices to dampen and minimise these vibrations.
In much larger transformers the noise is very noticeable (have a listen the next time you pass an electrical substation).
... i could be wrong but it's a common problem in electronics and i think it's likely.

  • Under Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and Boot Camp, my 27 inch Apple LED Cinema Display checks out as a Generic PnP Monitor and is shown as NOT HDCP compliant.  I haven't been able to find any kind of an .inf file to use.  Does anyone have a solution?

I am having this same issue. Im not sure if this is the cause but I think this is keeping PowerDVD Ultra 11 from playing back Bluray under Windows 7 / Bootcamp

  • LED Cinema Display (27-Inch) and the new iMac (late 2012)

Does the LED Cinema Display (27-Inch) work with the new iMac (late 2012) as a second monitor, and if so, which cable do I need?

It will work.  Plug its Mini DisplayPort plug into the computer's Thunderbolt port.  No adapters needed.

  • HP LD5535 55-inch LED Digital Signage Display set up

Hi, we have a "HP LD5535 55-inch LED Digital Signage Display" at our company which has hundreds of PCs. We want to install the Display monitor on the network.
We already downloaded and installed the display driver and the Utility Tools - "HP Video Over Ethernet" and "HP Network Sign Manager 4" from HP website at [ http://h20565.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=6917288&swLangOid=8&swEnvOid=4062 ]  .
The utility "HP Video Over Ethernet" could not search it on the network. The PC(IP 10.32.32.30 - Windows 7 professional) and the display are on the same subnet (IP 10.32.32.8) . The PC can ping the monitor.
The utility "HP Network Sign Manager 4" also could now search it, I can manually add it to the utility, and it shows the monitor's model name and the serial number,  but it could not associate. Could you please help me to fix it?
    Thanks.
    Andy

Your problem is that the program wants a good video card and a fast hard drive and lots of memory and you have none of the above. If you upgraded the RAM to 8 gigs and installed a solid state hard drive you might make the program useable but the real bottleneck  is going to be the Intel HD graphics, which cannot be upgraded.
You do have an open slot to add one 4 gig memory module. This is an easy relatively inexpensive upgrade. See here:

I would try this a step at a time. Next would be the solid state drive. That would cost maybe $150. Post back if you need more help.

  • Difference between a Apple LED Cinema Display (27" flat panel) and a Apple Thunderbolt Display (27-inch)?

May i know the difference between a Apple LED Cinema Display (27" flat panel) and a Apple Thunderbolt Display (27-inch)? both products look the same to me, even the prices are the same, but the name of the product is different. Its so confusing! I want to purchase a secondary display for my 21" iMac, but idk the difference between the two.
furthermore, another question i have is, is 27" the largest display i can get? is there larger ones (just the screen, not the computer)?
    please help, thanks!

One has thunderbolt capabilities, the other doesn't.

No you can get a larger one.  Maybe not an Apple one, but certainly another brand.
