50% of message allowance used--on unlimited texting plan?

Pretty much what it says on the cover. I have an unlimited texting plan, but I just got a text saying 50% of my text message allowance has been used. Granted, this isn't much of an issue, since it's for the billing period that ends tomorrow, but still.
Wha? How does unlimited mean 1000?

No you cannot.
You can either get 1000 texts for 1 of the lines for $10/month, or get unlimited texting on all of the lines for $30/month.

• Texting to and from Puerto Rico with unlimited texting plan?

Hi there,
I have an unlimited texting plan and I was wondering if that also covers Puerto Rico, besides the U.S. If so then what are the rates for sending and receiving texts from Puerto Rico.
thank you,
keramaphoo

Yes It does. It would be the same as your texting plan.

• Does texting on an unlimited texting plan use 3G if you are not linked to a WiFi network and your 3G plan is limited ?

I have an iPhone 3 with unlimited texting and a 450MG 3G plan, but my WiFi went down 4 days ago and is still out.
Does texting without connected to WiFI use my 3G ? Or does texting require something else besidesthe 3G and doesn't use 3G ?
Thanks ! (:

SMS messages do not use cellular data. They travel over the voice network. MMS messages do use cellular data, but I do not believe they count against your data allowance, only your messaging allowance (this may vary by carrier).
iMessages DO use cellular data if you are not connected to WiFi.

• Is international texting included in my unlimited texting plan?

I just upgraded to unlimited texting but I still have the Nationwide Talk & Text plan. I'm wondering if sending and receiving international texts is included in the plan, or if it will be billed as a separate charge. FYI - I'm using my cell phone in the US, not internationally. Any help would be great!

Thanks, lewisr13, for your contribution.
Good evening aedubs,
I'd be happy to assist you regarding international text messages. If you are in the U.S. and are texting to or receiving a text from a Canada, Mexico or Puerto Rico number this is billed at domestic rate. If you have unlimited text or a text message bundle than this is included in your plan. Any other international carrier will be charged at international rate. For more information about international rates feel free to visit the following link. Have a great day!

• Some confusion about unlimited text plans

I have my iPhone on my own personal account and am just getting the 200 text messages for the additional $20 per month. I have been told by a couple of people that there isn't any way to bundle packages together with the iPhone, that is, if you want unlimited texting you have to pay $40 per month for each phone. My wife has four phones through her plan, including our two college daughters. She pays an addition $30 per month I believe for unlimited texting on all four phones. I have been told by a couple of other people that there is some way to create unlimited texting without spending the full $40 per phone. Right now my daughters have Samsung sliders, but I might consider eventually putting them into an iPhone is I don't have to spend an additional $80 per month to cover their extensive texting habits. Anyone??

And this is exactly why I posted this thread. I have been given the same exact information. One storeowner of an AT&T affiliate absolutely guaranteed to me that you cannot bundle the iPhone text message minutes with any AT&T plan. He said you can only use the stated amounts, namely $20 per month more for 200 texts, $30 per month more for 1500 texts, and $40 for unlimited. My challenge to all of you who claim that you have family plans where you pay a flat rate of $29.95 per month for all phones on your plan and unlimited texting, have you actually had iphones carry through a few cycle of billing and are you charged that way?

• Questions about Assumption of Liability and device to be used for unlimited data plan

This is my first post on here. I have an opportunity that someone I know is willing to transfer his smartphone plan with unlimited data to me. I have read extensively on here and other sites and gathered some information, and also heard of many complications and questionable losses of unlimited data plans when making various types of changes to devices or services. Some of what I read may be outdated as well if Verizon has made changes in their policies, so I will start with the most obvious question: as of this date, is an AOL possible while keeping the unlimited data plan intact?
If so, here are some other questions I have:
-Will I receive a new SIM card by mail or do I need to use my friend's old SIM card?
-If my ultimate end goal is to use laptop, do I have to connect through a smartphone (and is there any additional charge for that, or would it change the plan), or can I put the SIM card in a mobile hotspot such as the MHS291L and use only the data portion of the plan?
-After getting the plan, is there any way I can get TWO SIM cards - one for a mobile hotspot, and the other strictly for voice and text? If so, how much extra would that cost?
-If we went to a Verizon store to do this transfer or AOL, how can we be absolutely certain it goes smoothly, that no one makes any unauthorized plan changes and does not lose the unlimited data? I have unfortunately read some horror stories of it being lost in similar situations, no one seems to be accountable, and it winds up costing someone countless hours of struggle with Verizon to try to get it back (whether they are successful or not I don't know).
-If at some point the SIM card was lost (such as if I lost the device), can it be replaced without affecting the plan?
For what it's worth (especially for those working for Verizon), I am not looking for a way to hog up absurd amounts of data but simply to be able to do the basic stuff I need to online and maybe watch a movie once in a while without having really huge bills. Even if I used the internet without giving data consumption a second thought, I doubt I'd go much over 25-30GB most months.
Thanks to whoever can provide me with information.

Hi NicandroN_VZW, sorry i did not see your reply in time but thank you just the same. I called the number for the AOL department and they were able to help me with it pretty easily and answer most of my questions
I do have a couple other questions regarding the unlimited data plan on smartphones. I have seen various comments regarding these things online, and i can make a good guess about what "might work," but i'm really looking to know Verizon's official policy on these things, if one exists. In case any non-verizon employees are able to provide this information as well, if you have references to where i can find it in writing that would be helpful.
First, i realize there is an optional $30 fee for mobile hotspot use. But does Verizon have any policy about whether this fee must be paid if i connect only via a USB cable (since it would not actually be a "hotspot," and could not connect multiple devices)?
And my other question is, if i do opt to pay the $30 hotspot fee, is there any policy either for or against using that SIM card in a 4g hotspot such as the MHS291L?
PS i am asking these things here rather than by PM because, given the wide range of opinions which can be found online and that others have looked into similar things, i am sure other people could also benefit from knowing Verizon's policy regarding these things.

• Texting to Canada from US with unlimited texting plan

I have a plan with unlimited texting and I want to text a friend who lives in Canada with a Canadian phone carrier. We're both able to send and receive messages from each other, but I want to make sure I'm not being charged anything extra. I can't seem to find a solid answer.

May I ask how this is possible that you don't have to have a international plan for texting to someone in Canada
I inquired about texting to Canada and Verizon said I needed a international plan.
thank you

• I have unlimited texting but i cant send picture messages

why cant I send picture messages if I have unlimited texting

What a great question, banks1976. Do you get an error when trying to send a picture message? Have you been able to get any picture messages? Go to settings>general>cellular>enable data
Also, ensure data roaming is on from settings>general>cellular>roaming>enable
This guide is also a great help http://vz.to/MLDgRr.
Please let me know how this works.

• Unlimited text-picture/group text question.

Does unlimited text include picture/group texts? I believe I have an unlimited text plan, yet I am unable to send group/picture texts. I am also unable to receive picture messages, but able to receive group texts. Thank you.

I must have missed a word. Only iMessage will use data to send pictures.
If you have a basic phone with no data package and an unlimited message package you can send all the pictures you want and won't be charged data ever.
What phone are you using?

• Iphone with existing unlimited texting family plan

Hi, I just got an iPhone today butt ATT has given me two different answers about my question:
I am on a family plan with 3 other family members. We have the 30 dollar unlimited text messaging that covers everyone. I was told by two people at ATT that if I picked the 20 dollar data pack for my iphone, even though it says I'll only get 200 sms texts a month, since we have unlimited texting on the family plan, the unlimited texting will override the 200 texts a month that the iphone offers.
I was also told by one person that this is not correct.. that the 20 dollars of 200 texts message will replace the unlimited texting (for only my line) that my family has.
ATT is closed right now so if anyone could give me some feedback asap I would be very happy! Thanks!

Yea, but isn't the data plan for the iPhone, iPhone specific. You know, so we can get our visual voicemail and things like that. I mean if it wasn't that way, then why would they make you have to buy it. If I'm wrong, then I'm wrong.
Ok, so you have unlimited testing for all the lines on your plan. Ok I got a little confused then, sorry about the date refrences.. I think though that what your saying about the number of texts will be correct. The rest of the lines on your plan will still have unlimited texts, but you'll be reduced to the 200 limit. You'll not have the Unlimited data as well, which is good if you surf the net a lot of the iPhone.

• Upgrade your at&t Unlimited texting to unlimited texting with unlimited mobile to mobile calling

Just a heads up to everyone since a lot of my friends don't seem to know about the new unlimited texting plan from at&t.
For the same price as the current unlimited texting plans $20 individual $30 family, you can now get free mobile to mobile calling to any mobile phone on any network. You do have to call at&t to switch or switch via your online account under services. Be sure to backdate the upgrade although I believe you can only backdate to the 15th as thats when the plan went live.

I currently have an iPhone 3GS with unlimited data. I would like to upgrade to the Motorola Atrix and roll my unlimited data plan over. I have been assured by AT&T that this can be done.
I went into BB last night to do the upgrade and the gentleman at in the mobile dept told me that it can not be done at BB and that even if he tried to do it over the phone with AT&T they would deny it. For reasons I don't wish to get into I would rather upgrade at BB than at my local AT&T store.
I see from other threads on here that it can be done in a BB store. Any idea what the procedure is that they need to follow so that I can get this done?
If you have some specific issue with your local AT&T store, perhaps try a different one?
If you want good service without screwups, you want to go to a carrier-owned AT&T store. (An actual company store - some are franchisees/resellers/kiosks). In this case you can't afford a screwup - once you've been transitioned to a non-unlimited data plan (even accidentally), it is extremely difficult if not impossible to go back.

• I used iMessage to text my sister in VN. She used iMessage too. AT

I used iMessage to text my sister oversea. She used iMessage too. My service ATT said they will charge for my text? Is that right?

No, not per text. iMessage does not use your carriers text plan as long as both parties are using iMessage. If you're not connected to wifi, iMessage will use your cellular data plan, with each text being very, very small... probably less than 2kB.

• Why did I have to choose a Text plan?

I thought I had unlimited texting plan??? what the heck?

okay..so i just got the confirmation email..and it looks like they fixed the text messaging thing...it shows up unlimited with no additional charge..as it should...but def gonna call tomm to make sure

• I just don't get it... Your Unlimited Text Messagi...

Why does this company not offer unlimited text messaging on their premium accounts? Google Voice has offered it since it's birth (and for free I might add). Your own GroupMe application offers it in a very unique way, yet you guys don't offer it in a complete package. I don't see the reason for this.

You guys are a company owned by Microsoft. • HT3529 What does "Unlimited" mean here, "iMessage allows you to send unlimited text..."?

"iMessage allows you to send unlimited text, photos, videos, locations, and contacts using Wi-Fi or cellular data* " What does "Unlimited" mean here, since as far as I can tell, you have to pay for a text plan and none of them are unlimited?

As long as you both have a data connection (either cellular or WiFi) the iMessage will be sent over the data connection and only use a tiny portion of your data allowance.
If the recipient of the message does not have a data connection, the iMessage may switch over to a standard SMS text message (if you have allowed that option in the Settings) - in which case you may be charged by your mobile network operator for the SMS as you would any other SMS you send.
Whether or not you are charged to receive SMS is something you'd have to ask your mobile network provider.
