Is your balance high enought to cover the $50 for the plan? This is a monthly planthat you will need to add $50 to the account before the previous month plan runs out. Otherwise I believe it reverts to pay per use type plan.

I want to buy a phone and pre-pay month to month. Everyone says I can't but my X-wife, my daughter and my granddaughter all have that type of service.

That depends on where you are and what carrier you want to use.
In the US, there are no supported GSM carriers that offer pre-paid service for the iPhone. There are a number of CDMA carriers that do, but you must purchase a phone specifically for their network.

Unfortunately downloads larger than 20mbps require wifi due to most carriers having data limits. This "requirement" keeps people who are not familiar with data and what takes up a lot of data from going over.

Switch to pre-paid when plan expires

My 2 year plan expires at the end of this billing cycle. After a great deal of research I have decided I would like to switch to a prepaid plan while keeping my old phone and old number. My question is in regards to the feasibility of this. I spent a good amount of time roaming around the site and have come up quite disappointed as there seems to be no easy in-browser applications to handle this. While browsing plans on multiple other carriers I found many offered to set up a launch date so that my number and service would transfer to them the day following my current plan's expiration. Yet desiring to remain with Verizon I can't do the same thing. Shouldn't it be even easier for it to be done when I'm keeping the carrier?!
Does anyone know of a way to switch to a prepaid service upon my current plans expiration without having to go through a few days downtime nor spend countless tedious hours on the phone or in store with customer service reps; no offence but I have had terrible experience with customer service via phone and in store?

Great question! I definitely understand you wanting to go with the best plan for you needs.
You can absolutely port your number over to our prepaid account. In regards to being able to activate your current phone on a prepaid account, it would depend on the phone you have. Change from my Verizon pre-paid monthly to 2 year contarct with a second line

I currently have a pre-paid monthly plan plus extra 30 GB data for my iPad2. I want to switch to a 2 year contract with 2 lines and 2 phones, one of the phones I want to keep my old Verison number. Is this doable?

It shouldn't be a problem. Just contact Verizon's Customer Service line and ask that your prepaid account be moved over to a postpaid account. They will be able to bring over your phone number and should credit the balance on your prepaid account to your new postpaid account.
You can either leave the iPad on prepaid, or add it to your postpaid account, or cancel it if you no longer want it. Then you can start a new line of service for the second phone. Since you are starting two new lines of postpaid service, you'll have the option of signing a 2 year contract on one or both of the lines to get a discount on a new phone. Or you can start the lines with your own equipment and not have a contract.

Amount I can add for my Daily pre paid plan

I was also wondering, what is the minimum amount I can buy to add minutes to my phone. I am using the Daily Pre Paid plan, and pay the $1.99 for unlimited minutes and 2 cents per text. thanks!

The Lowest Amount is $15.00 and that gives you 30 days of service
$30.00 gives you 90 days of service
$$50.00 gives you 90 days
$100.00 gives you 365 days.

Since last software update, pre-paid internet does not work anymore. Get "you have not signed up for a data plan" message. Pre-paid acct is in order! What's up???

I have had an iPad 3G for more than a year now. I did not get it with a SIM card, since I expected to use almost completely at home, where we have wireless internet. Eventually, I decided it would be handy to be able to take it on the road, and signed up for pre-paid Internet with KPN (national Dutch telecommunications company). That worked fine, until the last big iPad software update. Since then, whenever I try to make a connection outside the house, I get the following message…

Would you like to set up a new account?
If you don’t, you can do it later in Settings.
…with the options of ‘Later’ or ‘Now’ to press. If I press Now, I get a screen “Please wait while the page is loading – this should only take a few seconds to complete.” But it never does, the ball just keeps spinning and spinning and spinning….
To my mind, with pre-paid internet I should not HAVE to set up a Mobile Data Account in the first place. I’ve checked with KPN, and my account is completely in order. I’ve checked with the local Apple store, and the geniuses say they’ve never seen this. Can anyone help me?

I updated to 3.6.4 and when I went to NetFlix to watch the next show of a series, it said
something like
Installation complete, restart your browser.
I restarted browser, same problem. Restarted comp. Same problem.
I updated Adobe Flash 10.1, still same problem.
But able to watch some vids on other sites, but full screen gave me the big blank white screen with audio only, had to click around in the dark ( so to speak) to find the minimize button.
I did a System Restore to before the Firefox and Adobe updates.
I then did not update Firefox as recommended and went to NetFlix and wellah, i can view the movies again.
And Full Screen is fine.
I then experimented and updated Firefox only, went to NetFlix and got same msg with no viewable shows.
So did a System Restore once more.
Staying at 3.6.3 for a while longer until I know I can watch my movies.
I don't own a TV, so this is my only form of an occasional escape.
I do hope this is figured out soon.
With what I have done, it seems to be Firefox, Not Flash.

Have you talked to your carrier to confirm the unlock?
What was the procedure you did to unlock the phone?
Standard unlocking procedure once processed by the carrier:
Backup in iTunes
Erase the phone (ignore restore terminology here)
Plug the phone to the computer and then launch iTunes
Wait for unlock notification.
Restore the backup.

IPad mini unless branded for Verizon use will not be accepted for prepaid use. Apple will tell you that the mini is compatable with all carriers, you simply walk into the carrier of choice and ask for a nano Sim.
You pop it in, you turn on cellular if not already on and follow the screen prompts to get you up and running. Its quite easy.
I found my wife's mini only functions on Sprint, T-Mobile and AT&T who I set up service with.
Verizon blocks the activation due to the emeid of the device. Apple says it is fully operable on Verizon but they don't let you activate unless its purchased from them or from Apple to use on their system.

Can I get a refund for unused minutes purchased on a pre-paid plan?

I have a Go-phone, pre-paid plan, with a charge of ten cents per minute. When my minutes expire, I always refill my account by purchasing an additional $100 of air time, so I can transfer my unused balance for another calendar year. I hardly ever use this phone, which is why I purchased this plan, and I now have a balance of over $400 of unused minutes. I am a senior citizen on a fixed income, and $400 is a lot of money to me. I now want to cancel my phone service, due to lack of use, and want to know if I can get a refund for the money I pre-paid.

GoPhone refills pay for talk minutes, but also for keeping your phone active and ready to be used at any moment for specified periods of time (1 full year for $100). AT&T lets your balance to rollover for another year as long as the refill was made before the previous one expired, however there are no refunds for GoPhones. Why can't I use a pre paid sim in my iphone that previously had a plan

I have given my iphone 3g to my daughter and she is unable to use hervodaphone pre paid sim card in it.
is it locked to telstra ?

Is this a MasterCard credit card issued to you by a bank in the country in which you legally reside, a MasterCard debit card issued to you by a bank in the country in which you legally reside in connection with a demand deposit account (checking/savings) that you maintain in that bank and have a verifiable billing address in that same country or is this a prepaid MasterCard debit card that you bought from a local store?

Use a pre-paid phone with regular plan?

I am fairly new to Verizon and my husband already lost his phone. Since there are no sim cards, can I still buy a pre-paid phone to use with our regular monthly plan? If so how?

You cannot purchase a phone packaged for Verizon's prepaid service and use it immediately with a monthly (postpaid) plan. You must use the phone with prepaid service for 6 months before it can be activated on a contract line.
So, you need to either buy a phone at full retail price, or get a used phone for your husband's line.

I'm sorry about your husband's phone, luckily we do have options. Currently, a pre-paid device must be activated on a pre-pay account for six months before eligible to activate on a standard post-pay account. Pre-Paid plan coverage vs Post-Paid plan coverage.

Does the Verizon Pre-Paid plan voice/data coverage use the same areas as the Post-Paid plans voice/data coverage, or does the pre-paid plan exclude coverage normally provided through partner network sharing agreements?

Prepaid coverage is different than Post paid. On the website look for coverage locator on the Why Verizon Page. You can select pre-paid coverage only.
