500-374na Graphics Upgrade

Hi
I own a HP Pavilion 500-374na and want to upgrade the graphics, I understand it has a graphics expansion slot but also only has a 180w power supply.
What is going to be the best option for me that is going to be better than the onboard HD4400 graphics?
I do not have any budget in mind as im thinking I amk going to have to change the power supply and case
Kind Regards
Daniel

Please consider your plans with caution.  Most modern cards are now UEFI BIOS.  One of the cards mentioned here that has a switch is the MSI 750Ti for legacy BIOS (yours). Personally I use the EVGA 660 and 670 in my non-UEFI systems.  PS<> those model 500 series came in 2 flavors (abiet really confusing to the forums).  The link states an external PSU (brick), but some models do have internal PSU's.  Which do you have, and if internal, what is the model # , and is it ATX.

  • Reviews for ATI Radeon HD 4870 Graphics Upgrade Kit for Mac Pro?

There's no review at the Apple Store on this [ATI Radeon HD 4870 Graphics Upgrade Kit for Mac Pro (Early 2009 or Early 2008)|http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB999ZM/A?fnode=MTY1NDA5OQ&mco=NDE4NDMx OA]. Googled and found nothing related to the Mac kit. Mostly PC based.
Should I consider this card? I need a spare/replacement graphics card for my Mac Pro (early 2008). The NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT card has failed me twice.

    Just came out on barefeats:
    http://www.barefeats.com/nehal14.html
Shows new drivers with 285, also compares 4870.
If you play a lot of games on the windows side, you might also want to consider the 4890. I has recently became flashable (if you're into that kinda thing). It has a lot more leeway to be overclocked. Close to (or if your lucky) hitting the 1 Ghz core clock speed, gives very close comp to the 285, and at fraction of the price. You can get an XFX 4890 on newegg for $195.

  • No Video Scopes after graphics upgrade.  Why?

I am on a Mac Pro that came standard with the Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT. I installed a second card (identical) so that I can have up to four monitors. Since then, I have not been able to see any scopes when using Color. They worked previously, just not after the graphics upgrade. I just ran a software update and am using all current software as of 7-24-09. The other flaw I see is that when going to single screen mode, it will resize the windows to fit the screen however it does not resize the interface within the windows (first time I've seen this). Please help!

  • Graphic Upgrade Problem with K430 desktop - Unresolved!

    Hi,
Xmas 2012 I purchased a Lenovo IdeaCentre K430 Desktop from PC world.
PC World said it would be upgradable if I need to upgrade it.
    The system is:
    Intel Core i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40GHz
    16.0 GB DDR3
    1.8 TB Hardrive
    Windows 8
    Geforce GT 640
I recently purchased Crysis 3 and its not running very well, so I brought a Geforce GTX 660.
However when I installed and rebooted the PC, I was greated with a blank flashing screen?
other people have simular problems on the GeForce forums.
I have since took the card back PLUS 3 MORE for a refund, and very dissapointed that I can't upgrade this PC.
CAN SOMEONE AT LENOVO PLEASE REPLY WITH A LIST OF 'MODERN/LATEST GRAPHIC CARDS, THAT ARE COMPATIBLE WITH THIS MODEL STRAIGHT OUT OF THE BOX?
CHANGING THE BIOS SETTINGS DOES NOT WORK FOR ME!
It's been almost 2 years and I've still not found a compatible card, so much for the Ultimate Upgradable PC!
    Cheers.

  • Graphics Upgrade - 256MB of Video Ram?

It's time for a new iMac and I am having trouble decieding if I should chose the graphics upgrade to the 256MB of VR? I would say my computer use is typical although I do like to make home movies using iMovie. Thanks

    Hi Joe Keith!
You're in a bind, and I don't think you can "win" (if that were necessary). You want to sell your iMac G5 while it's still covered by AppleCare so that you can net the best selling price, yet the option for 256MB of VRAM has not yet been standardized as any iMac's base amount. If you wait until a new iMac has both Leopard and higher VRAM, yes, you will pay less for those features, but also probably net less about that same amount when selling the iMac G5 you have. [Based on Apple's refurb pricing, and on eBay selling prices, I estimate waiting to sell will cost you about the same $200 as would buying now and adding the optional VRAM and Leopard.] Plus, you have to wait and do without the (possible) advantages of the 256VRAM.
Since the only things we know for sure are that the new delivery date of Leopard is October, that 256MB VRAM is a current option in both 20" and 24" models, and that it will eventually come as the typical iMac base amount, you need to decide now what you'll be "needing/wanting" in the way of VRAM for the next two to three years. Certainly you'll want to have VRAM that will be similar to what will exist in most other users' new iMacs over the next 2 to 3 years, in which case you'll want to now spend the small amount to get the upgrade so that you'll be using (and in the future again be offering for sale) a comparably equipped machine.

  • Is it worth it?  ATI Radeon HD 5770 Graphics Upgrade Kit

Hey all. After several frustrating hours scouring the forums for information relating to graphics cards for early 2008 MP's, I thought I would just ask my question. Is it worth buying the ATI Radeon HD 5770 Graphics Upgrade Kit from the Apple store? What I mean is, is there a new graphics card option coming soon seeing as the 5870 seems to be "Unavailable" for ages.
I have heard rumours that Apple bought up all the ATI 5870's and ATI is re-branding and it's cheaper to buy a PC compatible card and flash it but I don't want to mess around with all that (I would have a windows machine if I did). I've checked newegg and OWC and they both only have the quadra card and there is no way I'm paying that much. I currently have the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT so any upgrade is good I suppose, I just always seem to buy something right before Apple releases the new version!
    Any suggestions is appreciated thanks.

    Hi-
    Welcome to Discussions!
    Is the 5770 worth it?
It's not a bad price for a card that runs circles around the 8800:
    http://www.barefeats.com/wst10g6.html
Would be nicer if the 5870 was available.
It is billed as the Top Gun for Macs (currently), but the reported price makes it a dear upgrade.
As for the future, the 67xx and 68xx cards are in the pipeline, but, if as with the 57xx and 58xx, it may be almost a year before we see a Mac version....

  • HP Pavilion 500-141ea Graphics Card Upgrade

Hey I've treid searching everywhere but I've not found anything on how to improve the graphics card for this computer, can someone tell me or help me find what cards this computer supports? The one that it currently has is fairly bad so I'd be happy to hear most if not all suggestions. (first post btw).

It's cheap because it is old. That is the "4" series with DDR3 memory 512 megs. In the day it was a very good card and will perform as you wish. It does need a 6 pin power supply lead so you need a new power supply. It also awfully long to fit in the space you have to hold it.

  • HP Pavilion 500-424 Graphics cards options

I recently bought a HP Pavilion 500-424 and was interested in upgrading the graphics card for gaming purposes and wanted to know which graphics cards are compatible before I purchase a graphics card that doesnt fit or is not able to be used with my computer.

    Hi,
    No, nothing is compatible because
    (a)  No video card, it is AMD graphics (combined with the processor),
    (b)  Processor socket: None (processor is soldered to the motherboard)
       http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04453602
That means if you wish to upgrade video "card" you have to upgrade CPU and if you wish to upgrade CPU you have to upgrade motherboard ===>  buy a new machine.
    Regards.

  • Graphics upgrade for a Satellite A100-163

    Hi,
I was wondering if it is possible to upgrade the graphics in the Toshibe Satellite A100-163. In the specifications on this website, it states that it is connected by the new PCI Express x16 bus, does this mean that it is infact a seperate graphics card in my laptop that at a later date I would be able to upgrade?
    Thank you for your help,
    M_Taylor40

I was wondering if this is one of the new laptop motherboards with a PCI express card connected through a PCI Express port tho, as you can now get laptops that have a PCI express port for future graphics card upgrade. I know that a standard desktop card would not go in a laptop, but laptop graphics cards are beginning to appear but they are still quite expensive and hard to get.
Just under the speficiations of this laptop, the graphics bus is the PCI Express x16, and I just wanted to know if this was either the graphics where of the built-in adapter type which was connected through the PCI Express x16 bus, or that it was in fact a seperate graphics adapter that was connected to a PCI Express x16 port. As if it was the port version, then technically the existing graphics card could be removed and replaced with another card.

  • HP Pavilion DV6 Graphics Upgrade

    Hello ladies & gentlemen,
I'm the proud owner of a HP Pavilion DV6 Notebook. The only flaw I've found is that it doesn't have a good video performance (which is a shame for a having an 720p HD display). The graphics device installed is a Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family.
How can I upgrade my Notebook graphics and video processing?
If you need any more information in order to answer my question, please tell me.
    Thanking beforehand,

    Hi,
For all practical purposes, it's not possible to upgrade your graphics device as the graphics chip is physically soldered to the Motherboard of your notebook.
    Best wishes,

  • Hp Pavilion 1170uk graphics upgrade

I have a HP Pavilion 1170uk and have tried upgrading graphics card to a Gigabyte Nvidia Geforce GTX770 4GB.
When I start the computer it stops at hp boot screen and says press esc to enter startup menu and beeps about every 10-15 seconds.
I have put in a new 700w psu to run the card and when I put the original graphics card that came with the computer it starts up fine with this psu.
This sounds like a bios problem and I have the latest bios from the hp website installed on machine.
Is there a new bios coming out or can I get one from anywhere to run this graphics card or do I have to upgrade the motherboard aswell ?

I also have an HP h8-1170Uk and have just fitted a GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 780 Ti WINDFORCE 3X OC 3GB GDDR5 and as with you it won't boot. Just says press ESC and beeps at me. What a waste of money! I wonder if it is possible to upgrade the motherboard?
Have you done anything to resolve the issue?

Good that the 4870 works in any Mac Pro, but I think at the end of the day, you may find that Motion and FCP would run better with 2009/2010 model.

The 285 isn't an option, but is 3D oriented (and assume a GTX 470 could land in Mac Land)
