500 GB DVR Upgrade Transition

Is it possible to upgrade to the new 500GB multi room DVR without losing the programs I have already recorded on my old multi room DVR?  Can I run both multiroom DVR's in my home for a short period of time while I transition from one to another?  How have others handled this transition?

If you can wait for 1.9, and it gets installed on your existing DVR (big IF if you currently have an 6xxx series box), and you have (or will buy) an eSATA drive, you should be able to copy your existing programs to that drive (assuming it has that capability). Then you could replace the DVR and just connect the drive to the new unit.
ABSOLUTELY NOT!!
There is no copy capability from internal to external (or vice versa) and additionally the external drives programs are locked to the DVR they were recorded on.  Moving it to another DVR (or PC) will not work - PERIOD.

  • Caller ID on TV not displaying after 500 GB DVR upgrade

As the title states, I upgraded to the new 500GB DVR and added a new HD box (both the new model Motorolas) and the caller id on TV stopped working.  It shows that they are both active (went through reactiviation process), but it continues to be displayed on the TV in our bedroom as that is still on the older, gray HD box??  Also, it has been almost a week since I've activated the feature so it's beyond the 48 hour waiting period it may take and I've tried rebooting a few times.  Anyone have this similar issue when upgraded to the new Motorola boxes?
    Thanks!

  • DVR Upgrade FAILURE. I have been trying for a MONTH!!

I have been having issue after issue with Verizon, and am frustrated to the point of tears! Please HELP ME!!
I have been trying to upgrade my DVR equipment and am ready to give up and SWITCH BACK TO DIRECTTV. Your website is so frustrating to find help! All the support links from the DVR Upgrade email return a "Bad Request" response and I have tried to speak with someone at support, and spent 2+ hours with no success. Nobody returns my calls for support and nobody has an answer. So, why am I still here?!  The support links on "My Account" page are also returning "Bad Request". I have tried in Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer 9.
Everyone I speak to (online chat, over the phone, email) tell me the same thing : log into your account and request the upgrade, then you will receive an email with a link. Use the link and follow the instructions for th eupgrade!
I received my upgrade email on February 15th, and have been banging my head against the wall ever since. It does not work. I even went so far as to forward the email and provide my personal login info to one of your tech support guys ( the only helpful one I have spoken to so far!!!) and he was so perplexed I found myself on a conference call with 5 tech support guys all working on it.
There is something seriously wrong with your process, site, support and overall customer satisfaction and consumer products at Verizon.
You are not helping me, the consumer, receive what I was promised, and I am ready to give up.

YES!!!...TERRIBLE!!! I received the e-mail for my upgrade and it didnt work also, After about 3 calls to verizon, most with extended wait times, someone FINALLY got me my upgrade shipped to me. I hooked it up but no luck, Activation failed !!! another round of calls, ALL with too long wait itmes, and finally got someone through LIVE chat online to try and help, which they could not. So Verizon sent me ANOTHER 500GB STB which gave me the same authentication failed message...1 HOUR ON THE PHONE HOLDING ON A SUNDAY just to get another rep to tell me there are HUGE outages in upstate NY (Which I am not in, Im on Long Island which would not be upstate but thats another issue) and I have to call back tomorrow....Most if not all of my dealings with Verizon customer support over the 4 or 5 years I have been dealing with them have been EXTREMELY Frustrating and way to long. I still cannot get this 500 GB DVR working and I am not looking forward to tomorrows conversation. Needless to say they all have had me running all over the house resetting the router, unplugging the DVR, unhooking the coax cable from the DVR etc...etc...etc.

  • New 500 GB DVR Multi Room Not working!

I received the new 500 GB DVR this past Friday and set it up over the weekend. I'm having issues with viewing the new content on the new DVR with other STBs.
I've tried rebooting all the boxes and unplug each one but still get the same message that There was error connecting to the DVR STB. It's almost like the boxes are trying to still access the previous DVR. I tried to submit to Verizon Support on Twitter and it's been 3 days without hearing back if they had a solution. They tell me the same cut and paste message they give everyone to DM them on Twitter and here is the link to the form but then you don't hear back at all.
Has anyone else experienced issues with the new 500 GB DVR and Multi Room access?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I switched from a 7216 MR-DVR to a 7232 and had tech support switch the MR feature to the new box, and have no problems. The STBs and DVRs talk to each other on their own little MoCA network. COAX or splitter issues can cause problems. Router not involved. I have MRDVR running and all routing functions are turned off on the Actiontec, and the the WAN ports are not even connected. The Actiontec is bridge LAN to MoCA. My router is a Linux box. The Actiontec does filter STB broadcast traffic from my LAN. It sees no MoCA traffic except for VOD and guide updates. All other UDP broadcast traffic is blocked on the bridge.
The hub errors people were seeing on the older 1.7 img were not HUB as in router related. The hub acts as the master on the MoCA network. Looking at the STB diagnostic menu D16 for "Connected Home" my DVR shows as the hub and is verified by the MAC address my Linux box assigns an IP address to. If you are having Multi Room DVR issues I can almost guarantee that it is not a router issue. Check and make sure you have good quality RG-6 coax and the proper splitter(s). Make sure there is no line loss or interference between the boxes. Also make sure Multi Room is assigned properly only to the DVR wanting to be the Multi Room DVR. It can not be assigned to more than one DVR. Now with the 1.9 image the rules may change, but I am not sure. Right now it is my understanding that only one DVR can be the HUB. Now that may be changing, we will need to wait and see. I believe it will change.
Now back to removing the old DVR and having Multi Room Enabled on your new DVR. You may want to have both DVRs connected so the feature can be disabled on the old DVR and enabled on the new. If you do not do this and reconnect the old DVR you may end up with two trying to act as HUBs. May not work well with 1.8. Not saying I know for sure, and my assumptions are only based on observations. But when I had Multi Room moved from old to new, both my DVRs were connected, and my system works great.

  • New 500 GB DVR

Will the new 500 GB DVR be able to tape more than 2 shows at once?
It is a pain to be watching one live show and not be able to record 2 shows on different networks.
This is the main reason I wanted more capacity.

The only company that has more than two tuners is ATT U-verse. From what I've seen, they've had issues with the 4 tuner setup and I have a feeling that is why most other companies do not follow suit. The 2 tuner setup is a well established and for the most part, trouble free system. The only other way to get more than two tuners is to go 3rd party (the Ceton Cable card system for example)

  • Mutli-room dvr stopped working after upgrade to 500 gb dvr

I've been running in circle with the online chats. I upgraded my dvr and since then my remote dvr and mutli room dvr will only work for a few mins after resetting the boxes:
I've done the start the boxes, factory reset of the router and took the coax off and back on.
any help I'm starting to frustrated by all the running around and time I'm spending on my own time
    Any other suggestions

  • Will current HD DVRs have ext. drive capability when 1.9 rolls out or ONLY the new 500 GB DVR box?

Got the email about the $40 upgrade to the 500 GB Motorola box.  I realize that once 1.9 is FINALLY rolled out, the box will have eSATA capability to tack on a supplemental HD.  My question is, can I just not pay their $40 for the new box and instead wait until 1.9 is rolled out, and then be able to use the currently useless USB port on my current silver Motorola 160 GB HD box to hook up a 1TB drive that I can get for less than the $40 upgrade fee?
Are they are any OTHER advantages to the new box over the existing ones (feature and capability wise...I don't care about recycled materials, less energy usage, etc)?

All the 7xxx series DVRs will support an external drive.  There are no plans to utilize the USB port - too slow to support MRDVR.
The 7232 has more memory (not just the disk) and is smaller, black, and supposed to use less energy (I know you said you don't care, but I mention it anyway).

  • DVR Upgrade / Expansion - External Hard Drive goes idle

I upgraded my DVR by buying a 2TB external eSata hard drive.  The external drive works when I power it on and it shows up in my DVR menu.  I have been able to record to the external device and playback.
The problem is that the device goes idle and goes into standby mode.  The cable box then does not recognize it and only records to the internal storage.  The only way I can get it to record to it is to manually turn it off then back on.  I contacted the manufacturer and it doesn't have a shutdown feature, they said the issue is with the cable box not sending power to it.
Is there a fix for this?

I am not sure why it is doing that. The external drives so still keep working if the box is in standby. To rule out it being a problem with the box you can hook it up to another box you may have or hook it up to a friends box to test it. Also refer to our e-sata page talking about the connectivity, drives we have tested and approved services for(though people have successfully used other drives) , and  frequently asked questions.

  • 500 GB DVR...*still* haven't received message about ordering it, been *WEEKS* now

I've put myself on the list to be notified when it will be available, and still haven't gotten email to upgrade.  I signed up right when it first became available to do so, and this was several weeks now.  Anyone know why it's taking so long, and when I'll be notified?!
I live in Central New York (VHO-15A) if that helps, and I've been installed since November of 2009, so VZ is giving me the ole stink finger to me because I'm not a new install....anyone in the region have luck getting one?
    Solved!

a guy in huntington station NY got his email notification.   try to re-apply, or call up some of the stores and see if they have them yet.  don't exchange, just go get a new DVR, and then you can return your old one whenever you are done watching the content.

  • 500-374na Graphics Upgrade

    Hi
I own a HP Pavilion 500-374na and want to upgrade the graphics, I understand it has a graphics expansion slot but also only has a 180w power supply.
What is going to be the best option for me that is going to be better than the onboard HD4400 graphics?
I do not have any budget in mind as im thinking I amk going to have to change the power supply and case
    Kind Regards

Please consider your plans with caution.  Most modern cards are now UEFI BIOS.  One of the cards mentioned here that has a switch is the MSI 750Ti for legacy BIOS (yours). Personally I use the EVGA 660 and 670 in my non-UEFI systems.  PS<> those model 500 series came in 2 flavors (abiet really confusing to the forums).  The link states an external PSU (brick), but some models do have internal PSU's.  Which do you have, and if internal, what is the model # , and is it ATX.

  • DVR Upgrade; Remove Old DVRs from List on Web and Mobile User Interfaces

I have upgraded two HD DVRs to the hardware with more storage space.  The new DVRs appear on the list of available DVRs on both the web and mobile applications for DVR management.  The old, uninstalled DVRs also continue to appear.   How can I remove the old DVRs from these lists?

Provided you returned the old DVR's using the materials and instructions that should have been provided when you received your new units, the old DVR's should disappear from your account in a week or two after they've been received and processed by Verizon.   I just renamed mine to "Returned" or something like that so that I would know to ignore them until they went away.
If it takes more than one full billing cycle and they still haven't disappeared, then I'd call to find out why they are still in your account (i.e. have your tracking information ready because it sounds like they may have gotten lost along the way).

  • Verizon sent email - new 500 GB DVR is ready click this icon

When i open the Verizon email to click here, your wait is over for the new 500GB DVR, nothing happens and it times out.  I cant find anything on my account about it.  So I called yesterday and they said it could be an internal problem they would get back to me.  Still not working and no response.  Has anyone figured out where and how to get this DVR?

  • How to request an upgrade for DVR

Good Evening AT&T forums, Just looking to see if anyone has a tried and true method of upgrading their DVR, we have been a customer with ATT for >5 years, subscribe to the U300 television package, and we have had the same base Cisco model for the duration. The model has also had some issues causing the picture to randomly drop. I would really like to upgrade to the 7500 model but the only way to upgrade I can see is paying a $105 fee which is semi-frustrating when we should have had our DVR upgraded when we picked up the U300 package about a year ago. Please let me know your thoughts or if I'm stuck paying the fee and hoping for the best in terms of model replacement. Thank you!

The only sure method is ordering, however..... The two methods of receiving the DVR can impact your chances.A direct shipped, get whatever is pulled at warehouse, may be same (replace like for like) or better. The tech dispatch (4 hour appointment window) is limited to what tech has on truck, but a better chance (especially as u300) to get upgraded DVR (if available). For me, recommend scheduling a tech visit for intermittent DVR issue, let the tech bring things up to standards. When tech pre calls, ask if carrying the desired (new, larger DVR) to elimate surprise.
