500 series phones wont register after recovering password

I had to recover the password for a UC540W and followed the standard procedures that I am aware of. I went to rommon, , copy start to run, change the password, no shut on the interfaces, saved and rebooted.
The 7900 series phones work with no problem but the 525 and 504 are stuck downloading the xmldefault.cnf.xml file. It would seem that there is some other item I need to adjust during the password recovery.
What else would possibly be affected by a password reset that would selectively knockout the 500 series phones?
I did a factory reset on the 504g phone and it loaded a default screen but didnt register with the UC540.
The statements for the phones loads are listed:

What else would possibly affect this that I could check.
I have a demo in the morning and am waiting on SCC support to fix my serial number so I can order support. So in the meantime I am stuck.
I could upload my config but I dont have time to clean it. I know this is a simple one line statement issue so if you have any ideas please let me know.
Also no changes were made to the configuration before or after this problem other than to reset the password.

I thought about that but it was isolated to one series of phones.
I was working on the unit and had to do work on the wireless to get the 7925 working. I edited the voice wlan and changed from wep to open. After it uploaded the changes.... both phones started working.
It must have been security related as whatever statements were changed related to the wlan config.. it allowed the phones to complete registration.
I wish I could find out what caused it.. but I do have the cca logs. I will bring it up with cca feedback.

Hi, I'm having the same problem as crystalfromsaline.
The handset advised me to upgrade 5.0.1 so I did and now it wont sync to my mac?? It's detected in iPhoto but not as all in iTunes. The handset still works fine.
I'm currently using Snow Leopard 10.6.3 and have the latest version of itunes.

Phone wont register saved contact name

i own a n85 and 6500classic. the issue is it wont recall my bros names when they send or sms or call me. or either would only register one of my bros nos. my brother's nos are +63922XXXXXXX and +63917XXXXXXX. the xxxxxxx are the last 7 digits in their nos. they have both the same last 7 digits but belong to two different neworks. when one of them call me the mobile no will just display on the phone. and when they send me sms only the +63917xxxxxxx name will register eventhough +63922xxxxxxx is the one who sent the sms. i think the phones issued in the phils only recognizes the last 7 digits to register in the caller id. which should not be since ther are several networks providing service wherein there would be 2 or more people sharing the same 7digit no but having different prefix or service providers. is it solved by updating software? should it be recognizing 10 digits (service provider prefix + mobile no)?
for example 0922abcdefg, 0919abcdefg,0917abcdefg,0918abcdefg, 0929abcdefg etc. will only be recognized as a single no and if you have these 5 different nos registered to 5 different persons the phonebook will go crazy on who to display upon sms or a call.
somebody help me on this. you could email me thru it is impractical for me to ask my brother to change his mobile no. since it is not good for him to change nos and update all the people he knows to update their phonebooks just because it wont register in my phone. thanks in advance.

HT1212 ipod touch wont reset after forgetting password, wont recognize device

I am trying to fix a friends Ipod after her daughter forgot the password. I have tried everything I saw online where to get it in recovery mode, etc and nothing works. It wont recognize it, it wont restore it, it wont do anything.
Anybody have any ideas to erase everything and start from scratch this is frustrating.

Phone wont sync after upgrade?

Ever since upgrading to iOs5 my iphone wont sync properly to itunes. It runs trhough all of the stpes then gets to the last one and an error message pops up telling me that the sync failed to complete. Any thoughts on how to fix?

I had the same issue; see thread for others experiences and tips. One person said he had this problem with Voice Message. Try cleaning out your Voice Messages and see if it works after that.

Mamakass, that definitely sounds like quite a dilemma you're in and I would like to help. First, verify that the phone is showing signal when attempting to unlock. Sometimes the phone may switch to airplane mode in lock mode. If the phone can't connect to internet, it won't be able to verify your Gmail password. Try resetting your password again. My i-phone wont activate after a software update

I was given a phone in the UK and brought it to Egypt. In order to get it working with an Egyptian sim card it had to be unlocked. I wanted to add some apps but a number would not load saying the os was out of date. So I decided to update it as recommended. Now it has completely restored it back to factor settings which I wasn't expecting and didn't want. It does not recognise the sim card ITunes says there is no sim card in the phone and the phone itself keeps saying it could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable. So now the phone is completely stuck and useless. What can I do

If it was not unlocked by the carrier it was originally locked to, it was 'hacked' to unlock it.
ONLY the carrier it is lockd to can authorize unlocking it.
If it was hacked to unlock it, then upgraded to 5.1.1, it may very well be a brick now.

Hello everyone,
we are experiencing a strange problem with 9971 phones:
We have two CUCM 9.1 clusters
Our production-cluster: Publisher, 3 Subscribers, dedicated TFTP, Unity Connection, CUPS
and our Lab environmant: Publisher, 1 Subscriber, TFTP on Publisher, Unity Connection, CUPS
In our production environment, 9971 phones work fine
In our lab environment, 9971 also work fine at first, but after some hours, sometimes days, or after a phone is resettet manually via CUCM administration the phone won't register anymore. After the phone is rebooted, the display briefly shows the correct directory number and line but they disappear immediatley and the phone is stuck with "Phone not registered" after that. The only way I can get the phone to register again after that is to completely reset all settings on the phone.
Both clusters are located within the same subnet, as well as the phones use the same voice vlan (manual tftp setting in both cases). It doesn't seem to be a network-related issue.
I have tested the same devices with both clusters, so the devices themselves seem to work properly too.
Has anyone experienced this sort of problem before? Any help would be appreciated.

Also, I have captured some Wireshark Traces. I took one phone that was registered and sent a reset request from the CUCM Web-Interface. The phone then rebooted and got stuck with "Phone not registered" as I described in my first post.
I unplugged the LAN cable, put it back in and captured what happened while the phone tried to register using a Span port at my access switch. You can find the pcap file attached to the first post.

The passcode has to be typed in. I don't usually allow my phone to drain out except this one time on a long trip. Hence I forgot my passcode and I prefer it being sent to me via my registered email. I know that if you enter it several times, the phone gets locked out over certain periods from 1 minute to 60 minutes so I don't want to take that risk. Any suggestions?

First, this is a user-to-user technical support forum, not a way to communicate with Apple.
That aside, no one can email your passcode to you because no one (not even Apple) knows it. The passcode exists in only one place - on the phone. You will have to restore the phone using the computer that you regularly sync it to. This will reinstall iOS, remove the passcode, and restore your most recent backup.

Same issue so I connected to itunes. Itunes said phone is in recovery mode. I completed recovery process. Itunes then said phone could not be recovered and my screen is stuck on connect to itunes?!?!?!

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Your Apple ID and iCloud email address don't need to be the same, you can't change an iCloud email address.
Also check your Mail rules and filtering, the verification mail may be going to a junk folder or even being deleted altogether. You may also wish to contact your mail provider to see if their spam filters are removing the email before it gets to you.
