"500 server not found" error on Windows 8.1 when accesssing my website (works with Mozilla on Windows 7 and with IE on 8.1)

New Surface Pro 3 running windows 8.1 (works with Windows 7). Firefox 34.0.5 is browser. Cannot access my website only. Have cleared cache. Works with Internet Explorer.

Thank you. Since the website can be accessed by other browsers (Internet Explorer), I believe the problem likely is in Mozilla's configuration settings--I just don't know how to fix them!

"Server not found" error on every site after some use, the pages work fine in other browsers

I'm getting the "Server not found - Firefox can't find the server at blablabla.com" error after using Firefox for a while, sometimes 30 minutes, sometimes 2 hours. This error appears on every single page, and does not go away until I restart Firefox. Google Chrome can load these pages with no problem, so it's not a problem with my internet connection. I've already done everything on this page:

I have not installed any new extensions, plugins, userscripts or anything like this, and everything was working perfectly fine until a week ago.

I've encountered 404 errors and xmarks keeps popping up when I try to open igoogle.
All of the is in Firefox4.0 Beta 8.
I don't have any problem in Chrome, no 404 errors, no xmarks showing up when it should be the igoggle search page.

Intermittent "Server not Found" errors

For the past week, I've been getting intermittent "Server not Found" errors. It'll happen when going to a site. I re-read the site and it might open to it. Go to another site, it works fine. Go there a minute later and "Server not Found." Just started last week, and I've found no real answer online. I've found a lot of people discussing this, but no real, solid solutions.

One of your add-ons might be the culprit too. Try running Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] with all add-ons disabled. If that solves the problem, see [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and possibly [[Troubleshooting plugins]]

In Firefox, I keep getting "Server not found" error - CONSTANTLY!

Two days ago I started getting the "server not found" error, off and on, daily. It is happening on both my desktop iMac 10.7, and my Windows 7 laptop. I keep having to hit the "Try Again" butting, and sometimes, several times, before a web site will finally launch. The only two extensions I have on both, are the Adblock Plus and the Last Tab Close Button, both of which, have been installed on said computers for months and months and months.
I went in and changed a setting to the "auto detect proxy setting", hoping that would work, and it did not.
I have Firefox version 21 on both computers, and it seems the problem started shortly after this latest Firefox update, and at the SAME TIME on both computers.
I do not have virus protection on my iMac, nor on my Windows 7 laptop, at the moment, but I have run online software to check for anything, and no issues, so I believe, it is not that which is the issue.
The firewalls on both computers are working fine and no issues there either, I have not changed any firewall settings, on either computer. It couldn't be the firewall, in my opinion, because this annoying error message started happening on BOTH of my computers, at the same time; I work on my iMac in the morning, then switch to my laptop in the afternoon, and same issue continues on both, and started at the same time, on both.
Is there something broken in Firefox from this last update of the browser?
Does anyone have any suggestions as to why both computers are having this issue, at the same time?
I have not tried using I.E. yet on my laptop, I rarely have ever needed to use that browser, and I hate it, so I don't use it.
Any help or suggestions, would be appreciated.

I followed those steps, but clearly some steps are missing. How do you "enable each extension one at a time"? The only choices I see in Safe Mode are "disable" and "remove."
And why is it that every other update to Firefox breaks Firefox? I've had to install add-ons just to be able to use it in Windows 8 with a touchpad.
Now that I think of it, it doesn't even matter any more. After years of Firefox loyalty (even after Firefox users have dropped to 28%), I'm off to download Google Chrome (up to 52%). I'll miss Firefox, but not the on-again, off-again performance.

Desktops get "Server Not Found" errors with WRT160N

I'm sharing my WRT160N with 2 laptops and 3 desktops. My laptops connect to the internet ok... drops now and then tho... but my desktops frequently get a "Server Not Found" error. After repeated "try again" clicks, it eventually connects again. Any ideas??

Try this ;
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop).In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...Leave Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
Under the Setup Tab...reduce the MTU value to 1300 and save settings.
Also reduce the card speed of the dekstop... (assuming it is window XP)..Click on the Start button >>> Control Panel >> Network Connections >> Right click on the ""Local Area Connection"" icon and select properties-Here click on the "Configure" button- Click on the "Advanced" tab- In the "Property" box highlight Link speed and duplex/Connection type/Network or Media type- And in the "Value" box select 10 Mbps half duplex/ 10 base T/10 base half mode and click on OK.. Now restart the computer.

I can't fix the "Server Not Found" error

Ok, when I started up Firefox I was greated with a "Server not found" error, so I thougt to myself, " Ok, I'll just follow the instructions shown". Didn't help, still didn't work. So I dcided to use Internet Explorer until the issue fixed itself, didn't work. So I tried the 64 bit version, that worked. So basically what I'm trying to ask is: is there a 64 bit version to Firefox, or is another solution what i need?

Getting "server not found" errors randomly. If I reload the page comes up fine. Why?

I'm on a Mac running 10.6.5 and using Firefox 3.6.13. All of the sudden pages I visit all the time are coming up with "server not found" errors, but when I refresh the page comes up fine. Sometimes the page loads, but in html code and all jumbled.
How do I fix this? Very annoying. I've been using Firefox for years and it's never done this. Nothing's changed with my connection or settings.

I still have the exact same lame problem as you with 3.6.whatever it is now.
There are quite a few of these random"Server not found" threads scattered around here,all with a mounting number of "people have this problem"
On my old MacBook Pro, which runs 3.5.16, I have no such issue.
After 6 weeks of exhaustive research the only thing I have found is a fix aimed at PC users in which you alter the about:config settings (not that it would work for us or that if it is even possible) that affect something called DNS fetching. I am not a computer person so all the jargon about do this-do that goes over my head. However, to get this solved I will learn what it takes.
I hope we get some real answers soon
(and none of that "empty your cache and cookies" garbage either)

Random "Server Not Found" errors.

Since I updated to the most recent version of Firefox I'm randomly getting "Server Not Found" errors when I try to navigate to sites via searches, direct links, and typing in the URL. Anyone know what's going on?

the 400 Error page renders with:
400 Bad Request, The HTTP client sent a request that this server could not understand.
the 404:
404 Not found, The requested URL /apex/f was not found on this server.

Random Server not found error in firefox

for the past few days i have been having the "Server not found" error in firefox whilst browsing it happens at random and fixes when i restart the browser or reconnect my internet connection

Try chrome at the same time. See if it works, when firefox doesn't.

Can I go back to the old look of the 'server not found' error messages?

After updating to Firefox 32, I noticed that the 'server not found' error messages now look differently. I don't like the new look, so I wonder if you know about an add-on that restores the old look. I've tried searching for it, but I don't know the proper name of these error messages, so I'm not sure what search phrase I should use.

The easiest method is just to wait a few days for the Fx36.0.1 update. If you use
Firefox Menu Button -> Help -> AboutFirefox
each day that will check to see if the upgrade is available.
The bug fix is I think merely changing prefs and so you could do that yourself. It may be safer to use a spare additional profile, or backup the file ''prefs.js'' when trying that initially, because making mistakes in about:config may break Firefox.

'Server not found' error

I'm currnently having issues with my internet connection. I keep getting 'server not found' when loading web pages. But when I open my network preferences, it says I'm connected.
I've tried using other browsers but they won't work either. To confuse matters further every other wireless device in the house works fine.
Can anyone help me?

I've seen some on here report connectivity problems when they are using WEP WFi encryption - if yours is WEP you could try changing it to WPA as it sometimes seems to resolve the problem.
You'll need to go into your router's WiFi settings to change it. To get to the configuration page for your router you'll probably need to input http://192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 into your browser - if one of these doesn't work you'll need to find the instructions for your particular router.
If the above doesn't help you could try this:
System Preferences>Network, select the troublesome connection on the left and click on the 'minus' button to delete it. Then click on the 'plus' button and from the pop up window select 'WiFi' (assuming that's what you want) and try to set the connection up again, you'll need your WiFi password.

Firefox 15.0.1 not working on Vista 32-bit nor Windows XP after update. Server Not Found error.

I recently updated to Firefox 15.0.1 on 2 separate PCs. One PC is Windows Vista 32-bit with Comodo Internet Security. Other PC is Windows XP with Avast. Previous version of Firefox was operating fine on both before update. I have exhausted all suggestions from this site to get the new update to work but it does not.
On Vista PC, Chrome and IceDragon also have the same server error but IE works. And I've followed all the suggestions to allow access. I've uninstalled and reinstalled. Changed to no proxy. Tried the network.dns... changes and nothing.
Has Microsoft banned every other browser from operating with their systems via a recent update? I'm wondering if this is not the case since everything was fine prior to this.
I also have a Mac that uses Firefox 15.0.1 just fine since the update so this is exclusively a PC issue.
Windows Firewall and Defender are deactivated. Thanks for any insight you can share.

Does deactivating Comodo Internet Security or the other security software help anything? It might be that your security software is blocking Firefox from accessing the internet.

"Server not found error" in Music Store

I am getting a server error message when trying to download music from itunes. Is this a problem with my PC or a network issue?

On an iMac running iTunes 6.0.2 I am also getting error when I try to listen to purchased music. "We cold not complete your music store request. The server was ot found. There was an error in the Music Store" At this time I can't authorize or de-authorize this computer, although I can reach the Music Store and play the sample music there.
I hope this is just a temporary glitch. I tried downloading and re-installing 6.0.2 but that didn't help. There is a message about this error on the Apple support list, but it unhelpfully says to upgrade to 6.0.1 so It's behind the times.
