52"Samsung now flickering

In January I hooked up my 52" Samsung LCD to the MacMini using a Belkin DVI to HDMI Cable. All worked fine until 20 minutes ago. Now every 5-10 minutes the screen flickers with several bands of green horizontal linse going through the picture. I have made certain all the cables are in good and have re-booted. Nothing has been added to the MacMini. The only thing I have done is watch some YouTube content and trailers on the AppleTV....which now intermintedly reloads the stream every 20 to 30 seconds...but that is another issue.
Any pointers to solve the flickering would be much appreciated. Up until now it has all worked perfectly. Thanks.

hi
I have a 52 " samsung also and was thinking of hooking up a mini. I saw your cable hookup in the post, do you get audio also or is that another cable?

My partner used to have an iphone but changed to samsung now anytime i go to text him he is not getting my messages as its showing up as imessage can you advise me on what to do please ? i have already reset my phone but this hasnt worked

If your partner registered his iPhone under his support profile, he could try to login & remove the iPhone. This will stop your iMessage problem. Do so here: https://supportprofile.apple.com/MySupportProfile.do
The other thing your partner could try is to insert his sim into an iPhone and turn off iMessage there but this maybe a little more difficult if his Samsung doesn't use a MicrSIM.

  • I just ran a software update for Java and MacBook Pro SMC, now my Mini Display Port to HDMI TV is not working. The TV is flickering. The Mac Display is fine.

I was just watching / streaming TV off Safari on my actual TV.
I'm using a Mini-Display Port to HDMI cable for the connection to the external display.
Software update popped-up and said there was an update for Java and for SMC.
I ran the update and upon the computer restarting, my external display (my TV) is no longer working. It is now flickering.
It won't work in Mirroring or set up as an extended display.
I've reset SMC / PRAM / Safe Mode / Even restored from a Time Machine backup (From before the updates were done).
    What could it be?!

I keep saying this over and over, in the hope that people who do a search will find it.  Apple cannot possibly test for or be reponsible for the bazillion combinations of adapter, cables, and TV's out there.  The only monitors that are 100% guaranteed to work with the MacBook Pro are the Cinema Displays and Thunderbolt Displays, because, they're made by Apple.  They're expensive, but they work perfectly.
My guess is that you bought a cheap MDP to HDMI cable, or have a defective one.  From my reading of these boards over the past few months, cheap cables have a high failure rate.  And the regular priced ones have only a slightly less of one.  Try a new one.  Make sure you do not damage the Thunderbolt port.

  • 4s ios 7 won't restore and the screen flickers now

I updated iTunes, then backed up my iPhone before installing ios 7.  When it got done updating, it goes to the "Set up your iPhone" screen and gives you the choice to set up as new phone, restore backup from iCloud or restore backup from iTunes.  When you select restore from iTunes it says connect to iTunes and then says connected to iTunes when it's plugged into the computer but it doesn't do anything.  When you select restore backup from iTunes, it goes through the process like it is restoring but everytime it finishes, it goes back to the "Set up your iPhone" screen.  In addition, the very bottom of the screen now flickers continuously.  There were no issues with the phone before updating today.

After messing with it for hours, it will let me set up the iPhone as a new phone and the phone works but obviously i have lost all data, contacts, etc.  It will also let me restore to a backup that is a year old and it will work but I lost all data since then. It will not let me restore to today's backup prior to downloading the update though.  Any help would be appreciated

  • MBP13, Intel HD3000 graphics, Thunderbolt Display flickering

I have a early 2012 (late 2011?) MBP13 with a 2.8Ghz i7, 8GB of RAM, and the Intel HD3000 graphics. For awhile I was running it with a Samsung 24" monitor, and it was perfectly fine. However last fall I upgraded to the 27" Thunderbolt, and it now flickers to black, sometimes for a couple seconds. It will do this during normal operation (browsing, Office docs, etc.) but where it really shows up is when I play video streams, be it Netflix, Amazon, or Youtube. In other words, not narrowed down to a particular codec.
Additionally, if I have a firewire drive connected to the display, and I'm doing heavy work off of it, i.e. iMovie editing of HD video content, the display will go black indefinitely.
I have verified this behavior with two other HD3000 equipped laptops (both core i5 2.3Ghz models), so it's not just my laptop.
    So it's the monitor, right?
Not exactly. I got a new base model MBP13 in today with the 2.5Ghz i5 and the Intel HD4000 graphics.
The result? No problems, even full screen Netflix. Not a flicker.
I'm wondering if this is a limitation of the HD3000 chipset, and I'm just out of luck, or if there's a fix available. I've also tried it under both 10.7.5 and 10.8 (all iterations).
What's odd is that the variable is graphics chipset, however it's not just video; it occurs during anything that would be bandwidth intensive over the Thunderbolt bus.
    Thoughts?

No one? I guess I'll give Apple a call.

  • Flickering footage in Premiere Pro CC 2014 but not in Premiere Pro CC 2013

    Hi guys,
I've been having repeated issues with Premiere Pro CC 2014 on Windows. Basically my footage has a weird strobe/flicker when in the suite and when rendered off even although the footage looks fine, unaltered out of the camera. I rendered off the same footage in the 2013 edition of the software and there is no flicker/strobing going on. I've included one of the worst effected shots in CC 2014 and CC 2013 for comparison.I also experience graphical glitches occasionally when rendering. Please watch below:
Premiere Pro CC 2014 - strobing (300% speed, cropped 15%, RGB curve adjustment, software rendered)
    YouTube
Premiere Pro CC 2013 - strobing (300% speed, cropped 15%, RGB curve adjustment, software rendered)
Premiere Pro CC 2013 - no flickering - YouTube
    The footage was shot on a Nikon D3200 at 1080p 25fps, aperture 3.5, shutter 1/50, ISO 400.
    Editing on a
    Dell Optiplex 9020
    Intel i5-4570 3.2 Ghz
    4 gb Ram
    Intel HD Graphics 4600
    Windows 7
Has anyone else experienced this issue? My suspicion is an issue with either my graphics card or insufficient RAM.

Thanks for posting that info.  This mirrors the issues I'm seeing with DSLR footage.
It's so hit or miss if it's going to flicker.  I'll delete renders and re-render and certain clips will be fine, others are now flickering.  I tried to make a test project that demonstrated this issue, but couldn't reproduce the effect.  RGB Curves and Three Way CC are in my list of effects, as well, where I see the issue.
Just curious, is anyone else working on projects started in other versions/computers?  I've seen it on project started in PPro CC and finished in CC'14.  Saw it again on a project started on Mac in FCP7, converted to CC'14 Win7.  Quite honestly, I haven't been starting projects myself in CC'14 because of the flicker issues.
As a workaround, I was hoping to import the CC'14 project back into CC or Media Encoder CC, but no luck there.
Another issue I've had with CC'14 includes converting a CC project to CC'14, giving it to a CC'14 Mac user and the A/V sync is lost.  We abandoned that collaboration all together because of the issues.  CC'14 has been incredibly unproductive to my workflow, despite the great interface update and various other features added.  I haven't had mystery issues like this since CS4.  I'm keeping our post team in CC as much as possible until the issues are resolved.

  • When I try to close my screen it flickers black

When I put my computer to sleep I put the screen down instead of going up to the apple in the corner and selecting sleep. It is now flickering black as I am putting the screen down. I do not know why. Even when I just put it half mast it flickers.

I too had a similar problem, only over the course of one evening, the screen eventually went blank. I brought it to the Genius Bar and they replaced the LVDS (I think) cable, which I believe connects the display to the rest of the computer. No charge if under warranty, otherwise, the invoice showed it would have cost $152.00. Take it in if you can and good luck!

  • Macbook air 13 screen flicker

I have a problem with my 2 week old 13inch i7 macbook air. When the the screen powers down and I press a button to wake the computer the screen flickers black and grey and requires me to close the screen to get rid of it. It now flickers constantly - only slightly but it's very annoying. Any ideas? This is my first apple computer and it has been great till now.

Found another forum with the same problem: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1560774, including another youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vaGOKuwqsaw. The severity of the problem in this link looks worse than my problem. Mine is less severe than what's in this video, but more severe that what's in the first youtube link I provided.
The posts in that forum claim: 1) the problem began after upgrading to a newer OS, 2) it occurs after waking from sleep, and 3) that closing the lid for 10 seconds is a work-around fix.
Would be great if Apple fixes this. I won't buy another Mac, desktop or laptop, if they don't. Macs are too expensive to only get 2 years from, and in my opinion thay are not that much better than other options. I'm going to post a bug report on Apple's web site.

  • Time to upgrade hsdpa to 21mbps on high ends

htc and samsung now produces high end phones with 21mbps hsdpa capability so i think nokia should upgrade next symbian^3 phone with hsdpa 21mbps downlink and 5mbps hsupa uplink capability rather than usual 10mbps hsdpa and 2mbps hsupa

I currently have a Droid Global 2 and while I enjoy the expanded features of a smartphone, I miss my Env2 terribly for one main reason :  The keyboard was the best!.   The Droid Global 2's slide-out keyboard lacks dedicated number keys and is a bit cramped compared to the Env, but much faster/accurate than an iPhone.
I will be upgrading to the DROID 3 as it now has dedicated number keys and a larger screen.
While I really wanted an iPhone, the lack of a physical keyboard was the dealbreaker.  I test drove a friends phone and made so many errors in email, texting, dialing #s that I knew it wasn't going to be acceptable for me.  It took forever to do basic texting...and I have very small hands/fingers!   Can't imagine how big 'man hands' would handle the iPhone.
If keyboard accuracy/'speed is not a big deal the and iPhone will work for you.  The iPhone is much lighter as it doesn't have a physical keyboard....some people just have to have Apple regardless.
    Good luck on the Apple

    Hello,
It's time to upgrade to a new phone for both me and the wife, she needs a new phone now as her LG env3 is acting up.  I'm a looong time Apple user, and of course the Apple iphone is a natural to pick, however It'll cost $350 for 2 when we use the last $50 credit for new/every 2.  The new Droid 3 looks very interesting and we can get 2 for $149 for both with the credit and the BOGO sale going on.
So which should we get, mainly use the phone for talk, texting and will of course check emails, etc once we get a smart phone.  The Env3's we have now are good at texting with the keyboard and of course good for talking.
If we go for the Apple, I could get her the iphone 4 for her and I can wait for the iphone 5 if it's actually coming out this year.

  • IMac 2010 11,3 Green/Purple Pixels

    Hi Guys,
Been browsing the internet for ages, including the apple forums, and always come across similar issues, but never seem to fit mine 100%.
    I've got a 27" iMac 2010 11,3 i5.
Basically, about a year or so ago, it started to get these slight green and purple pixels on the screen, more square artifacts than anything else, but it was no problem, because if i'd 'select' them with the cursor, they'd go, as time progressed they've gotten worse and worse, to the point where they would take over the whole screen, again, a simple 'select' all of the screen would remove them for a short while, they never appeared doing anything specfic, but would be guarenteed to turn up.
The system now is only really usuable during Safe Boot, Under normal boot conditions, it will last between 15 seconds and an hour tops, Until it just hangs, the entire GUI is locked, however the Cursor will move, I've left it for a while to see if it will reclaim itself, but to no avail, the only option is to hold down the power until it shuts down.
Now, this only started happening after upgrading to Lion, I've since moved to Mountain Lion, and it still persists, So i decided to do an Apple Hardware Test in Extended mode, I received an error regarding the HDD, which was a 1TB Western Digital Drive, Don't get me wrong, it was slow, but it never seemed to give me issues, so I replaced the hard drive (No Apple care & out of Warranty), with a 2TB Seagate Model, Installed Mountain Lion, instant issues, Straight after succesful install.
I've since done several other Hardware Tests, and the only issue i get is the Hard Drive Sensor, Which I understand because of the 3rd Party hard drive.
So, within the last 3-4 weeks i've reinstalled, Re formatted, Zero'd the hard drive around 15 times, just to see if anything changed.
With Regards to the Safe Mode Boot, Its perfect, never get artifacts, never get a hang, nothing! Same goes for anything other than Normal Boot Conditions.
These pixels can be screenshot and still remain there! They also appear over Screen Sharing.
The system was bought for Graphic Design use, and thats what its needed for, But with it getting to the point of me only being able to work under safe mode, I've run out of options!
From what I know, someting under normal boot conditions is causing the issue, a kext maybe, but I've no idea on which one is causing the issue.
Even if i can get it working with something disabled/removed it's fine, But Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign are my work, and without being able to use them i'm pretty much limited!
I've obviously tried resetting the SMC/PRAM again, no changes, I've changed the RAM, bought new, swapped out, Nothing no changes.
The system is currently running 10.8.3.
One thing i did notice, is that the system often lasts longer before it hangs under the 64 Bit Kernel, rather than the 32 Bit Kernel (Not sure if thats expected or not but thought it would be worth a mention)
Thanks for all and any advice given in advance!
    Ethan.

    Hey,
Sorry for a delay in reply!
Well no, i never solved it, I've since stripped the machine and tried to see whats going on, and everything seems perfect.
A company has suggested its the graphics chip, and has offered to re-ball it, but i'm not sure on that yet.
But to add injurt to insult, hald of my display is now flickering every half hour or so.
I think i'm at a loss with it.
Only thing its being used for now is a Target Display Mode for a Mac Mini, which ironically works perfectly, and the hard drive is set up as a shared drive, So it's just a really expensive screen!
    Ethan.

  • Loosing my tweens

    Hi all
I think I posted about this before when Flash 8 first came,
but I never got any answers. So now that Flash 8 is on its way out,
I'm thinking someone else has come across this problem and has
figured out a fix for it at this point.
I have some old Flash files, possibly from the Flash MX era.
And they were built in kind of a cluegy (kind of like a lot things
were from that era). Mainly a lot of lazy-man approaches to Flash
production, lots of weird things grouped together on stage, nothing
labeled properly, everything kind of pieced together just to get it
    to work, stuff like that.
So now we want these files edited. And the problem I'm
finding is that when I make my changes and republish, a lot of the
animation tweens, both shape and motion, lose their tween.
Literally the only things you would see are those spots where
there's keyframes on the timeline, where it tweens, it disappears.
So it looks like anything that's supposed to have an animation, it
    kind of flickers.
Now this doesn't happen in the fla file, you can see the
tweening there. But in the republished swf files, that's where you
    see this "flickering".
Now the other odd thing is, if you see something flicker, you
go back into the fla and look what's going on, but you do nothing,
then republish...magically, whatever you looked at is tweening the
way its supposed to. But then, you take that approach and do that
to everything you see flickering, republish thinking everything is
great, and sure enough, the things you thought you fixed before are
    now flickering again.
So this just seems to be a bug of some sort in Flash 8, and
there's no reliable way to fix this that I've ever seen, aside from
rebuilding these things using the same artwork, but I don't want to
do that (some of these project are ******* huge).
So if anyone has any suggestions (maybe its just a publish
setting I'm missing or something) feel free to let me know.
    Thanks
    Chris

If you converted from one system to another, and your 10.4 system and data is on another hard drive, you can still recover it. Is there another system with 10.4 still on it?  Or do you have the hard drive that has 10.4 and it's data on it? If another system has the data on it, you can hook them up putting your 10.4 system into target disk mode (hold the T key down when you boot it). If you only have the 10.4 hard drive, or even if it's in a system, you could mount it into an external hard drive case and then use it with your new system.  Without knowing more details, it's hard to know exactly what to recommend.
If you've run out of space on your 10.5 system, remember you need at least 10% of the capacity free for systems usage, otherwise the system performance will be affected.

  • Black Preview // No Picture in Premiere Pro CC 2014 // MCP Retina 15" (2013)

    Dear fellow Premiere Pro users,
I am facing a problem recently.
When editing it quite often happens that the picture in the sequence monitor and preview monitor from one moment to the other just turn black and stay so until I restart the app.
I also witnessed a graphical distortion when using premiere. The screen "crashes" which means that it really looks like an electrically distorted pixel crash thing.
Both occurences do not depend on what kind of footage is used. It happens with DSLR footage as well as Blackmagic Material.
Both Problems do not seem to be connected to each other since they also appear seperately. But sometimes they pair up. Wehn that happens Premiere just freezes and I have to force quitting.
I assume that there might be a problem with the graphic processor or the graphic card or both.
Hardware and software check ups did not find any problems. I also have CUDA updated as well as all my other Adobe apps.
The system partition has more than enough free space and i care about my MCP not to get too hot.
Does anyone have that problem or can imagine what might go on inside the app or hardware?
Thanks for your efforts and time. Appreciate it!

  • Iphone won't start after crash

My iPhone 4S crashed and restarted but fails to wake up. It restarts but then stops and restarts again. It won't stop until the battery is dead but does the same as soon as I plug it in.
Can I wipe and reset to factory without connecting it?

My iPhone 4 just crashed. It happened a few days ago, and then started working fine. But once again it crashed yesterday. It took me 2 hours for itunes to finally recognize it so I was able to restore it. It worked fine for an hour and crashed again, now it will not start up at all. The screen went from the regular black with the apple logo to now flickering and acting crazy. Ive had this phone since August as a replacement from my old iphone 4. I'm not impressed. It's in perfect shape, i have not dropped it or got water into it. I have an appointment with Apple today in hopes they'll have some sympathy and simply replace the phone since the phone they gave me refurbished was  defective (the sound stopped working a few months ago) I refuse to pay a cent for an iPhone 4 to be repaired. Depending on how they act today, will be the decision of whether I stay with Apple or move to Android.
