5200 VTD128 vivo

Does the FX5200 VTD128 MS-8907 from MicroStar allow TV capture from my satallite, I don't need the tuner or any of the special features, just can I capture to a video program with audio using just the SVHS cable.  I'm on a tight budget so nothing really expensive.

The card does handle S-Video input, and the 1-4 Connecting Cable which should be supplied with the card (make sure it is) provides the socket for it.  For the audio you'd run a cable between the audio outputs on the satelite decoder to the audio input(s) on the PC.
Tony.

    Hi,
i recently bought a GeForce 6600GT AGP, finally got the VIVO drivers to work, but everytime i try to use it (with either MSN or a capture program (intervideo/windows movie maker) i always get a PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA / NV4MINI.SYS after a few minutes. and instantly with MSN. i tried a fresh XP install , still no go. its also a bit frustrating to see that nvidia hasn't passed the WHQL with those VIVO drivers. anyone ever got it to work properly ? PLEASE HELP !

    Hi,
I recently had a similar problem with my MSI 5900 VTD128. I spent days trying to resolve this and eventually came to the conclusion that seemingly MSI Vivo cards are not stable unless you use the drivers MSI specifically write for them. Using generic Nvidia VIVO or other brand driver causes havoc for my system, with regular BSODs. Don't get me wrong: any driver will work fine if you don't intend to make use of the VIVO function but if you do read on.  The only solution I found was to uninstall both the capture drivers and main Nvidia graphics driver. Run Drivercleaner from Driverheaven.net to remove all traces of any Nvidia drivers. Install whatever graphics drivers MSI provided with the card temporarily even though I know they may be old. Then download whatever the latest version of MSI Live Update from the MSI website here. Run this program while online and doiwnload whatever is the newest version in the list of drivers that it recommends. This may not always be as new as the more general Nvidia drivers available on the net or indeed available on the MSI site but trust me this program does not lie, if you use a driver that ain't listed then VIVO functions will always be a problem. Now after you have upgraded your main graphics driver to the one suggested by Live Update, go and dowload the MSI capture driver here. There is no specific one listed for the 6600GT but the version 3.08 driver for the FX series should be ok on the 6 series as well. This worked for me and is the only way I could get VIVO functionality from my card, hopefully it will work for you too. The Blue Screens messed up my system so bad that I had to reinstall due to the amount of corruption caused to other drivers in my system, not a job I like doing too often. Anyway good luck with this and I hope you get sorted.

  • Revive FX 5200 - VTD128 ???

I have read elsewhere in this forum that to get a bios flash to do manually that you have to provide the serial number and part number.
    Well, here's my story:
Had a GeForce 440 Mx 64Mb, and then got a FX5200 VTD128. Installed card, booted fine (vga out).
Put a second vga monitor into the digital port using the adapter. Blank screen.
Took a little bit but got it going again with just a single monitor hooked up.
I was getting lockups (hard lock) in WinXP after fifteen or twenty minutes with video playing. This is right after install. All this happening today.
X-((I then installed the utilities and noticed the auto bios update. Thinking at the time - Wow, that's a pretty cool feature. Thinking this would solve any lockups or other problems - I hit the button.
After the screen went blank, the box froze up. It says to wait 10 or more seconds but gave up after it being froze for 15 minutes.
Try to reboot. Blank screen - monitor stuck in Power Save mode. It looks like the computer is still booting, it isn't getting to the screen though.
It would appear that the bios is corrupted and there is no jumper, so it must not be a dual bios.
The only way that I can think as a solution is to get the bios and download it to a floppy or CD and flash it from there (don't have to see the screen to just flash it)
I am using the machine now (with Geforce 440 )to write this from so it does not appear to be the box itself.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Here's all of my data:
    P3 800
    Asus P3V 4X motherboard
    512 meg ram - SDram 133
    Maxtor 60 GB
    WD 40 GB
    Adaptec 2640
    WinXP SP1
    Video Card:
    MSI FX5200 VTD128
    P/N 8919-020
    S/N 0310908041

I am just trying this card out in a new system - still blank screen.
Put FX5200 VTD128 into a different machine with the same results - comp seems to boot fine by the sounds of it - just a blank screen (Power Save - orange light).
Old GeForce card works fine with this machine.
    Spec's on new machine:
    P4 - 1.6 - 256KB Cache
ASUS P4S333-M Socket 478 Onboard Audio & LAN
    256 MB Ram
    LG CDR
    Power Supply - 350 W - LC-B350ATX
Thanks for info regarding Power supplies - this might have been the original problem in that the original machine only had a 250 W power supply.
Unfortunately this is where I now sit and I'm not sure if I can or should send the card back to MSI. I would prefer if I can somehow clear the BIOS myself and get it going without waiting for a few months on MSI service to fix it.

  • [GeForce 6] nx6600gt-vtd128 vivo driver for windows xp x64 edition?

Are there any (beta or release) wdm driver for this msi's nx6600gt-vtd128 for windows xp x64 edition?  If not, are there plans to make an x64 driver in the near future?

I have the same card, and i can't find ANY capture driver for it. Not even the WindowsXP 32-Bit.
Could you enlighten me on where exactly did you see the 32bit capture drivers? (Other than the MSI CD)
    EDIT:
Now I noticed you said NVDIA's Website, they're even older than the ones MSI provided on the CD. Older by like 2 years.
What I'm looking for, is a place where I can find fresh new WDM drivers. Or at least an online package of what's on the CD
Drivers should not be availiable only on a CD.

Has probado reinstalando el driver? También prueba ejecutando los juegos utilizando directamente los ejecutables que especificas en los perfiles, y no los accesos directo. Nunca he utilizado los perfiles, pero creo q eso podría funcionar...

  • Vivo utilities help

hello people, i need some tool to change capture pin, source...things like change video system pal-ntsc, yuv-rgb-corssbar, display mode, color control, etc.
     i had a geforce fx5700 vtd128 vivo.
    thanks a lot

    yes that's true.
i'm using windvd creator bundled with my card, aventually also power dvd crator (bundled with my dvd recorder) and also use another software like virtual dub, showshifter, etc.
i had best results with windvd, but this don't have any way to configure properly the pin options, i need to configure in pal-n but i need to do some magical thing's to work, like install other software and modify pin "video in" options via control panel then shut down this program, install windvd set to pal output  and pray, so if this kind of control panel where you can control color, source format, etc. could be usable without any other program and prayers(miracles and magic) will be great.
so send recomendations, ha and  windvr sucks!
    bye!

  • Problem with MSI Geforce FX 5200 & Westinghouse LCM-22W2

I've tried a bunch of different drivers and the highest resolution I can get displayed on this monitor is 1440x900. it's native resolution is one step higher, 1680x1050. Anyone have any ideas as to why my card refuses to display anything higher than this, even tho the latest drivers i have and all MSI's information specifically states that it should be capable of doing so?
    Thanks,
    -John

here's my specs - if i'm missing anything important let me know.
    MSI KT3 Ultra ARU
Athlon XP 2100+ (overclocked, recognized as 2700+)
    MSI Geforce FX 5200 VTD128
    1 GB RAM
Win XP Home, SP2 completely up to date
The Nvidia drivers are version 6.14.10.9371 released on 10/22/06 - I had a newer version but they didn't fix any problems, at this point i'm honestly not sure why I went back to this version :P - I had the absolute latest version from Nvidia's site, which the release notes specifically stated supported the Non-traditional 1680x1050 resolution, and that the FX5200 was supported by these drivers. Still didn't work.
    The GPU Bios is 4.34.20.23.08
Also, upon startup my system was kinda hanging and I would get a notice that SW20.exe had crashed. I disabled sw20.exe and sw24.exe from starting up when the PC did and have no problems. It's not liek I miss them, cus I never used the overclocking functions of the graphics card anyway.
Originally XP was recognizing my monitor as a "Plug and play" monitor. The manual says this:
"VESA Plug and Play eliminates the complicated and time-consuming installation process. Your computer system will identify and automatically adjust the LCD monitor. The LCD monitor uses Display Data Channel (DDC) to send Extended Display Identification Data (EDID) to the computer system, so the computer system can automatically adjust the LCD monitor."
Right now the monitor is running with a custom inf file that PowerStrip (Which I downloaded from a link I found here) created for it. Westinghouse has no drivers or anything remotely helpful on their website.
Also, I'm using a Dual-link DVI cable, the monitor also has a VGA input.

  • MSI FX5900 128mb or 256mb

    Hi all
I have decided to buy a MSI FX5900 has anyone got the specs for the
    MSI FX5900-TD128 and the
MSI FX5900-VTD128 I need to know memory / clock core speeds etc. Not the ultra to expensive for what I can afford
I have found some info on the forum.
    FX5900 SP-VTD128
    VIVO, 400MHz core, 700MHz RAM
    The MSI FX5900-TD 128mb
    Product Specifications
    Graphics Core: 256-bit
    Memory Interface: 256-bit
    Memory Bandwidth: 27.2GB/sec.
    Fill Rate: 3.6 billion texels/sec.
    Vertices per Second: 338 million
    Memory Data Rate: 850MHz
    Pixels per Clock (peak): 8
    Textures per Pixel: 16
    RAMDACs: 400MHz
    FX5900-VTD128
    VIVO, 400MHz core, 850MHz RAM
My question is how much difference will 128mb of memory compared to 256mb be using the FX5900.  for games?
    Thanks

Thanks. I've done my homework on just about everything. I know 2gb of ram will be in it. I'll be getting the 160GB drive because of the speed limitations of the larger disk.
Mostly, I'm having trouble finding any real numbers showing differences between 128 and 256 vid memory with motion. It's good to know it wont make much of a difference with FCE by itself.
Does anyone have a link to any benchmarks pitting the two 15" models? Specifically, with motion.
Also, kind of on a similar note, but not related to final cut, does having the 256mb version place a significant impact on battery life?
    Thanks.

  • Suspend mode ?? different modes ?? how to ??

    Hi,
I would like to better understand how suspend modes are defined. The goal would be able to do stand by, from windows2k and leave the room quite, but being able to start up at a key stroke.
I have a key that would do a standby.... but all fans ( 9 BTW ) remain working.
Another option would be hibernate, which I am ok also, however it is slower. Can I return from hibernate from a key stroke ??.
The BIOS in the MSI K7D Master seem to have at least two or three different modes for stand by....
    Any hints appreciated.
    Thanks.
    JCG
K7D Master L, 1GB ram, firewire, usb, fx 5200 VTD128 etc etc.. keyboard is a logitech with an special sleep mode key, like a laptop....

    Hi rachel,
Mode transport is saved to the R/3 table TVTR and I don't see any standard middleware object that bring this table into CRM. You might need to create a custom object to map the tables across the systems. Moreover in CRM side this value is maintained as part of a structure and not to a direct transparent table.
    Thanks,

Also, do you know for sure that your pc3200 memory is running at full speed (ie. 400MHz) and is not using some other fsb:mem ratio of 4:3 or 5:4?
The given score is with every non-essential background process and service diasbled (though it makes very little difference). DRAM is running at 1:1 (ie 400). Tried 5:4 with FSB=230 (max stable at stock voltage). Gains a little (CPU), loses a little (RAM), doesn't make much difference in the end. IOW, everything is running at specs now.
Also, (to ToxicTaz) it's not a SP.
I noticed a peculiar thing, though. When I ran Aida and checked video mem speed, it reported, as "actual speed", some odd number quite a bit lower than 850 (something like 736). This is in 2D mode of course (but memory speed should be the same). Anyway, now I cannot duplicate it. Could it be that the memory is stepping down on its own accord? GPU, yes, but I didn't think memory could do that. GPU doesn't get too hot either (~48 deg right after 3dmark3). Is there a way I can check "actual" memory speed during 3D testing, if there is even such a thing?
Mind you I can OC memory upto 930 OC and it passes nVidia test and seems to be running fine at that. But if it's lowering down behind my back, that would explain it.

  • Fx5900 Xt-vtd128 S-vhs Vivo?

    I think I want a FX5900 XT-VTD128. (I need VIVO)
BUT the description on the MSI site says:
       TV-out (S-Video connector)
       DVI Connector
       Video_in (Composite Video)
Does it have both composite and s-video inputs, or just composite only?
The VIVO dongle has both types for input as well as output,
but maybe it is a generic part and the above notice means the
s-video input does not work on this card?
    Thanks
    Steve

Thank you so much for your kind reply.
I've got a couple more questions:
    1. Does the fan block PCI slot #1?
    2. Is there a fan &/or heatsink on the back side of the card?
Tom's Hardware Guide says the "twin flow" fan on the back of the
MSI FX5900 TD128 interferes with installing in some MBs but this
    looks ike a different fan.
    Thanks, Steve

  • Wheres my VIVO??¿¿?? MSI 5900XT - VTD128

hi, i bought that card because i wanted the VIVO function. I have installed the 2.20_wdm-vivo.exe drivers from the nvidia web page, but my system is unable to capture video. the capture device is not detected by any program (premiere pro, virtual dub, intervideo winDVD creator). What am i doing wrong

If I remember right on your driver CD that came with your card is a program for it. I have the same card but did not install that program as I do not need it right now. (have a vidieo camra just not into messing with it to much)
I seem to remember someone on another forum saying that the software on the CD has to be installed for it to work right. Worth a shot anyway.

  • No Video-In signal for NX6600GT-VTD128

    Hi,
I'm having a problem with my NX6600GT-VTD128 AGP. The video-in is not working. I have connected my TV and a video camera via SVideo and Composite connectors but there is no signal. I am using various programs like Sage, PowerVCR, Premiere etc and have also selected the proper "source" in every program. Installed latest driver, 66.93 from NVidia, 66.72 and 71.22 from MSI... Of course 2.20_wdm-vivo driver from NVidia is installed as well.
    Please advise..........
    Thanks

4.04? Ic, didn't know that a newer version existed..... nVidia site has only 2.20 and nothing about VIVO in the beta drivers. I found 4.03 from Sparkle and 4.04 from Gainward...... I'll try these today and post tomorrow with the results.
    Thanks!

  • FX5900XT-VTD128 capture problem

    Hi,
I read the many posts about capture problems but did not recognise my issues.
I just got FX5900XT-VTD128 and I am trying to get it to capture with WinDVD creator (bundled). WinDVD would start but then it would hang without listing any capture device.
I installed the latest WDM drivers from the nVidia site (2.20_wdm-vivo.exe)
Device manager list the following devices under sound, video and game controllers:
     - nVidia WDM A/V Crossbar (12-2-2003)
     - nVidia WDM Video Capture (universal)  (12-2-2003)
The multimedia tab in control panel show the following under "devices"
under "Video Capture device" -->  -Microsoft WDM Capture
After reading the posts, I suspected a WDM driver problem so I did the following:
1- removed both nVidia WDM devices from device manager
2- removed Microsoft WDM Capture from multimedia devices
3- removed nVidia WDM drivers with Driver Cleaner
I rebooted and confirmed that no nVidia WDM devices were present in Device manager and that no WDM capture device were present under multimedia capture devices.
I re-installed nVidia WDM driver 2.20 and rebooted. Windows plug and play recognised both nVidia WDM devices and installed drivers for it.
When I checked, both Device manager and Multimedia capture device were back as they were before the driver re-install yet WinDVD still hang when I click "capture" (Window is still alive, I can kill WinDVD manualy but I would then not be able to restart it without first rebooting).
I tried Flycap and VirtualVCR with no better result, they hang.
I am using Win98 SE on a Gygabyte  GA-7N400-l motherboard with AMD Sempron 2400+ CPU and 512MB RAM. I have no other card in the PC.
I am using nVidia driver 66.94 from the file: "66.94_win9x_english.exe"
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

also refer to this post....5900 Video Capture
its name is fx900xt capture and got 5 thumbs on the forum title for easy to find....

The ones with "VTD" (the "V" is video) support video in.
    FX5600 -VTDR128 = VIVO + 128MB
    FX5600 -TD256 = 256MB
    FX5600 -TD128 = 128MB
