5225dn Laser Printer giving problem on computers

So my company has a HP 5225dn laser printer that has always done its job over the network.
Today it started spewing this error to everyone in the office:
When anyone tries to print any document (be it one page of letter-sized or 50+ pages of technical drawings on 11x17), their computer would immediately tell them that the printer has no toner/ink. Despite the fact that we put new toners (all four of them) in last week, and the printer actually shows full levels for all 4 toner colours.
So far our solution has been to remove the printer and add it back in. It works, for a while, but after a few hours the problem would return.
I tried looking up this problem but couldn't find any help. Has anyone had similar issues before?

  • Printing problem on laser printer attached to Windows XP

    Hi,
I am trying to print a test page on Samsung ML-2510 laser printer connected and shared on Win XP. I have a green dot for this printer in Print & Fax on Mac, all looks cool. But I get the message 'On Hold (Authentication required) with red circle in printer status window on Mac. When I hit 'resume printing of selected jobs' it asks me to enter username and password for XP. I do, I hear the printer starting to print something but no page is printed. I have no problems using this printer from other XP machines.
    What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks

THIS WORKS, THANKS FOR YOUR HELP
I just purchased a vista home premiun computer and was having the same issue making my hp 5150 printer work through a networked xp system that the printer is physically attached to..It now works.. procedure= ( on the vista computer ) remove all old printers and printer drivers from previous attempts.
Go to this address and download this driver http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?os=2093&softwareitem=dj-46093-3&lc=en&cc=us...  HP_Vista_SF_Ph1.exe ,,click on it and let it install. when it ask if installing a local or network printer  (choose network ) continue install. It may tell u the drivers may not install properly, ( install anyway ) It may again tell you the drivers did not install correctly ( do not fix just keep them installed incorrectly ) now leave the print test page window open.
Go to add printer wizard and install new printer ( network printer ) add a local port and type EXACTLY the same path to the xp based printer EXAMPLE= \\lisajunk\printer .....finish wizard and print test page...
I done nothing to the xp computer, my printer and drivers work good on my other networked computers which use xp operating system.
I believe creating the correct port and having the correct path on the vista machine is the key to making this work. I use xp pro SP1 on an old antique 400mhz gateway that my printer is physically attached to.. You need to make sure the printer is being shared on the machine it is physically attached too.

  • HP 1300 Laserjet & HP 2605dn Laser Jet printers print density problem

I have both an HP 1300 b/w and HP 2605dn color laser printer.  In the last week both printers have changed the output density. The 1300 print is coming out lighter than it used to, and the 2605 is not print the color tones as it used to. What used to be orange is now only yellow.Other colors are not right either. I can compare them to output a few weeks earlier, and they are much lighter and different color tones.
Both printers have plenty of toner in all cartridges. The toner cartridge on the 1300 was changed 2 weeks ago. The toner on the 2605 is 3/4 full.
This was like something got into the printer drivers and reset some parameters on both printers at once.
Can anyone help me here to check this out and how to correct the problem?

I have the same problem with my laser printer 2605dn.  the color is pale, i replaced the cartridges with original hp's but it did not help.  I also lost the capability of double side printing that I had when I originally loaded the printer drivers.  I noticed this all after I checked the internet for software updates for my printer.  Are there any solutions for these problems?
    please let me know.

  • IM Container Tag Problem with OKI C9500DN Laser Printer

Labels printed have 10" length and 4" heigth instead of normal size.
Using USPS Tray Laser 2 IM 24-digit.ltd.
Printer driver problem or PostalSoft problem?

That design should print 10 labels on a page, two across and five down.  As far as margins the top and bottom margins are both .5 inches and the left and right margins are both 1 inch.  So what you are seeing is a single label that is 10" x 4" or the 10 labels fit within an area of 10" x 4"?  I don't have any experience with that specific printer but I know that design prints fine on several different HP laser printers.  It looks like that is an Led printer, but I don't see that really being the issue...  One thing I can think of checking is to make sure that the driver doesn't have some kind of zoom setting which is causing the issue.  You would want it to print at 100%.  Other than that I can't think of anything else to check without knowing more about what the output you are seeing looks like.  Have you tried any other designs to see if they have similar issues?  Are you able to get the output you expect when using other programs?

  • Problems integrating new Wireless Brother HL2280DW laser printer into my FIOS network.

I bought a brand new HL2280DW WIreless Laser Printer on Black Friday and I can not seem to integrate into my network.  It keeps spitting out errors saying to check with my SSID settings and I have checked, doublechecked, and re-checked and I just do not seem to get it.  I am hesitant to switching to a different type of encryption because not all my network nodes support other encryption types.    Any Advice would GREATLY be appreciated.

Your problem could be an IP Address conflict. The printer probablyh wants a fixed IP address so you can always refer to it the same way. But your router is probably set to give dynamic addresses to everything. What most people do is set aside a small address range for fixed address devices, and use the rest for dynamic addresses.
The way to do this is to set the router to start its DHCP range at something like 192.168.1.10. Doing his means IP addresses 192-168-1.2 - 192.168.1.9 are availalble for fixed assignment.  (Router is always 192.168.1.1.) All dynamic addresses will start with 192.168.1.10 and go up from there, for as many devices as you have attached wirelessly or via cables.  In this scenario you woudl assign your printer an address like 192.168.1.5 and it will always retain this address.

  • Samsung ML1665/XEU Laser Printer or Software Problem

Some while ago for no apparent reason my printer started printing a series of large font commas down the left hand side of the page.  These are about 13mm in from the edge and about 23mm apart.   After another week another series of marks appeared.  These are only 3mm from the LH edge of the page and the same distance apart.  These look like headphones standing on their side (or an oval with a gap at the right hand side)
I've reinstalled the printer driver but it makes no difference.  I've called the Samsung helpline but they are baffled.   Could this be a problem with Mavericks and/or iWorks09 being incompatible with Samsung?  Unfortunately, I can't remember if the marks appeared after downloading these updates or not.
Any ideas would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

Ever since OSX 10.5 my printer options are either unavailable or ignored when I choose them. I have a Canon i9900 inkjet, Kyocera Laser Printer, Toshiba B&W Copier, Toshiba Color Copier, and a RIP for a platesetter on my network. I can't select the second tray on my laser printer, it is grayed out. When I select landscape feed on my copiers it is ignored and I must feed the paper portrait direction.
There was a problem pre 10.5.2 that orientation and, I believe, the paper tray settings, were lost when printing to a windows shared printer. I am not sure if that is your setup, but your descriptions makes it sound like it might be.

  • Laser printer problem

Just got this humungous Lexmark X500n out of the box and hooked up.... It got wonderful reviews somewhere, obviously not here, my mistake for not looking. The specifications SAID Mac compatible. Of course, I wouldn't have ordered it otherwise. Anyway. I plugged it into the ethernet network and switched my G5 to airport. The printer driver finds the printer, no problem. But it won't print anything. "Jobs stopped" is all I can get. There is no manual, including on the Lexmark website. Also, much to my horror, I found in the top FAQ list the succinct answer, "not compatible with Intel-based OSX Tiger." Now, my G5 is not Intel-based. But I'm seriously worried that Lexmark is now going to say, Oh, yes, we meant to say not compatible with Tiger. OR one of you wonderful people can tell me what to do to make it work. PLEASE. Thank you.

Wondering if you got any resolution to your problem? I just got a new HP Color LaserJet CM1015 out of box, hooked up via USB, plugged in all no problem. Computer finds printer, all drivers appear to be installed. But I have exactly the same problem as you -- I queue a doc to the printer, and it can be seen in the Print Queue, and even the printer display is reading "Print in Progress". But after some time of twiddling thumbs, all that happens is I get a notification of "Jobs Stopped".
Any advice after your problem gratefully received...
    Thanks.

  • Delay in printing with HP laser printer query

I use a I Mac as well as a Ipad and Mac Air.  My printer is a HP 1525nw laser printer.  My network is via a Time Capsule Router/back up.  When I print, there is a long delay before the printer starts.  The Imac printer app says it is printing, but it doesn't seem to be reaching the printer. My printer is connected to the Time capsule with a USB cable, but my computers are all connected via my Airport wireless.   When I check an hour or so later, the printing is usually finished.  Why the delay?  Any help from the Apple nation would be appreciated.

  • Having network printer connection problems using a Macbook Pro

I hope a "greater mind" can suggest a solution to the following problem:
Up until 2 days ago, I was successfully connected to the network printer at my office using both my Macbook Pro at work and at home (both wirelessly, OS 10.6.8). From yesterday, however, I now only receive the following message when I send a file for printing: "network host (and then its IP address) is busy. Will try again in 10 seconds."
All right, my system admin. advised me to re-install the printer on both computers.  I did. In printer set-up, 1) Protocol: Line Printer Daemon - LPD; 2) Address: the IP address of the printer; 3) Queue: secinmac. This is the queue name specifically for Mac use and given to us by the company who installed our network printer; 4) Name: we use the printer's IP address; 5) Location: left blank; 6) Print Using: Generic PCL Laser Printer. Further for 6), in the "installable options" dialog box, I click "Duplexer". Then, finally, I click "ADD". The printer is added.
However, when I try to print a file, I continue to get the "busy" message.  The file spools for about 3%, and then the "busy message" appears, and I cannot print.  You can imagine how frustrating this is when the problem has arisen from one day to the next!  A colleague who also uses a MacBook Pro sent a file to print on the network printer today, and he had no problems!  I, however, have no success !
Any ideas that can help me?  Thanks, in advance!

Thank you for taking the time to respond.
Yes, I tried this when I was reading a bit of Apple communities history on this matter, and it did not work.  I also tried this, and then rebooted my Mac, but to no avail!  While I was at the office today, my system admin also logged into our network and tried to get something to print on his Mac, but he now has the same problem as I do.
He gets the "busy message", too !
I'll try to see if I can get a solution from APPLE by going through my support service agreement.....From reading the history on this issue, I would have thought that APPLE would have worked on this to come up with a fix by now...!
Thank you again for your suggestion!  Cheers.

I use a Brother HL-2070N on my home net. It's small, it's cheap, it's fast, and it prints text very well. It's not so good with graphics. (Noticeable banding with some files.) It's a Bonjour printer, so just plug it into Ethernet and it'll show on the net, no problems. (You can turn Bonjour off and just set up a fixed IP if you want.) So long as you have a wireless router of some kind you'll find it simple to add the 2070N to your network.
The 2070N also works with Windows machines without complaint.

  • 20" Intel iMac and Samsung Laser Printer

I ordered my new 20" Intel iMac last Saturday, the 14th. From day one, it said estimated ship was Jan. 24th. Yesterday I checked the status and it still said the 24th, but it also said estimated delivery for Jan. 31st. I was sad because when i ordered it, it said estimated ship 3-5 business days. Jan. 24th would be longer than that. So I checked my e-mail this morning, and lo and behold, I have an e-mail from Apple saying my new computer shipped out this morning, making it 5 business days since I ordered it (4 if they considered Monday a holiday). I just wanted to reassure others that the ship date may not be as late as it's estimated.
My question is this... I have a Samsung laser printer (the ML-1740) hooked up to my fiance's Windows XP machine. My Sony Vaio desktop (which I'm giving to my mom) can see the printer just fine. It prints just as if it was hooked up to it. My Powerbook however, cannot see the Samsung printer over the network. I'm a nursing student and print out tons of text only stuff, so I really need to use the laser printer with my new Mac. I've see a lot of different discussions on Mac drivers for this particular model, but I haven't tried any of them on my Powerbook, and I'm curious as to whether or not any of them would even work with the new Intel Mac. My other question is whether or not there is any way I can get my iMac to see the printer on the Windows. I don't necessarily have to install drivers on the Mac if I don't need to. I just need a solution to make it work. If I have to install something, that's fine. If I can just make it print over the network, that's great too. I don't ever use any of the settings the Samsung software provides, so just basic printing is fine. I just don't want to have to e-mail all my documents to myself and then go to the Windows machine to have to print. I apologize if any of this is confusing. What are some of the things I can try to make this work? Or can someone point me in another direction to get the answers. I was stupid in not realizing that the printer didn't support Mac OS X when I bought it, even though I already have one Mac. Thanks so much! I love these forums!

My shipping was the same way, maybe they had a supply shortage of RAM or just a long queue of computers waiting for upgrades and not enough people to perform them. Mine shipped today with an estimate of for the 25th.
I have looked around on Apples site and couldn't find anything about supported printers. You will have to install some form of driver on the Mac. You will have to make sure the PC has it shared correctly. Read about printer sharing in the windows help files. I don't know any more off hand.

  • Dell 1320c Laser Printer

Which driver do I use for a Dell 1320c laser printer? Fusion can see and install the driver on Windows 7 but Lion doesn't see the printer.

I inherited a Dell 1320c from my father in law (too big for his study).  My heart sank when I read about the lack of compatibility of Dell printers with Mac Osx.  So I hit the web more in hope than expectation.  After an hour or 2 of searching through some rather complex explanations of how to connect the printer using IP, I almost gave up as the inherited printer doesn't have the optional ethernet port.  I then came across a usefull discussion forum, which did the trick for me by enabling me to link the colour laser using USB to my Airport Extreme.
If you are using an Airport Extreme it is very straightforward.  I downloaded what appears to be the normal driver from this page http://www.justanswer.com/mac-computers/437pf-hi-need-connect-dell-1320c-printer -new-imac-27inch.html
I plugged the printer into the USB port on the Airport Extreme. I then installed the printer in the same way as any other printer through the Print & Fax option in System Preferences.  I simply selected the + sign on the printer list.  I then chose the Dell Color Laser 1320c whcih was on the list shown.  I could then select the right driver in the Print Using pull down list, Dell Color Laser 1320c v1.1 - the one I had downloaded.
    Voila!
If you don't have Airport then this might be a good excuse to upgrade to an Airport network.  That way you get to keep using a fully functional colour laser printer and get the Extreme for the price of a fully Mac compatible printer. No page feed problems, nothing.
It is also worth noting thst through the addition of an old 4 port USB hub I had languishing in a box from my days of using a pc that by plugging that into the Extreme USB port I was able to continue using the HP Photosmart printer I used to have plugged directly into the Extreme USB port in tandem with the Dell laser.
Technology tales rarely end so simply and sweetly for me, so I thought I would share it.

  • IMac G5 no longer prints to laser printer over ethernet network

I have a small office with 6 iMacs networked via ethernet with a Netgear Router. Printers are connected to one machine and people send to print over the network.
    3 iMacs are G5. 3 are Intel. All run OS X 10.5.8.
A month ago one of the G5 iMacs stopped being able to print to a Brother laser printer (which is connected by USB to an Intel iMac). I believe this happened after we downloaded a periodic Apple update. About 2 weeks ago a second G5 iMac developed the same problem. The 1st G5 iMac still prints fine to an inkjet printer connected directly to it by USB.
We have tried re-loading drivers, but no improvement.
Any suggestions as to how we can resolve this?

    Hi DaddyPaycheck
The iMacs that can't print can see the printer. We have deleted and re-installed via the printer system prefs too. There weird thing is that you can select the printer and send to print, but for some reason the printer then automatically pauses and you can't resume it. The file is listed by the status is 'stopped'. When you open the printer queue on the Intel iMac that the laser printer is connected to, no print file shows up at all...
We also ran the network diagnostic that you can do when in printer system prefs and that reported that "the G5 iMac could connect to the internet, but not the Server "brother HL 4040CN series-1@ben's-iMac-2.ipp.tcp.local" "
Hope there's a clue in there somewhere...

  • Can no longer properly print to colour laser printer after latest update

    Hi,
I've just updated my iLife '08/Leopard software using software update. It would appear that I can no longer print greeting cards etc. from iPhoto to my colour laser printer since this update. All photos are printed in a very pale yellow colour that is hardly visible.
I've tried a couple of things to diagnose the problem:
    1. Saved the file as a PS and printed it from a different machine running Tiger. Same result as before: Pale yellow.
    2. Viewed the PS file using Preview on the Tiger and Leopard machines. The colours were normal.
    3. Saved just the image (i.e., no greeting card pattern) to desktop and printed it from my Leopard machine. The picture printed out perfectly on the colour laser printer.
    4. Printed the greeting card to an inkjet. That seems to work, too.
    5. Just in case there was a problem with the new greeting card, I tried to print an old card that perfectly printed before. It, too, came out in a pale yellow.
So there appears to be some problem printing from the latest version of iPhoto to my colour laser printer. I did update the printer driver, just in case, but still have the same problem. Any ideas what else I could try?
The printer is an HP Color Laserjet 2550L

I have just discovered that I can properly print pictures from iPhoto to the colour laser, as long as I don't put them in a greeting card. So that seems to be the trigger.
