5230 and PC USB cable Pc don't recognize the USB...

Question

Hello and thanks in advance for any help.
PC= Laptop (no bluetooth) with Vista Home full updated.
1) when I connect the phone to the pc with the USB cable (Nokia CA101D) the phone ask "pcsuite" connection. I say OK.
2) The pc doesn't seems to "hear" the USB connection. No sound . No software is able to find the  phone. I tried also my daughter 5230. Same results.
2) I read many threads on this Forum and followed advices. Nothing avail.
After many other I tried these last three.
a) Installed OviSuite last version ( after clearing all previous Nokia software) restarted Pc. Nothing.
b) Installed PcSuite last version. Restarted Pc. Nothing ( on both the software launched separately)
c) Installed Nokia Updater. Nothing (none of the software feel a phone)
In the "devices", in Computer Management, I dont see any nokia usb connection.
Even when I tried to disconnect and reconnect the phone many time. No results.
I'm running short of IDEAS ! ! ! ! ! !
a) it's the cable ( strange as it can be)
b) my computer is a computer and has no feeling for telephony :-)
c) my head is not working anymore as it should !

Could you please provide us the log files?
1. Here are the instructions for attaching log files:
- Open Nokia Ovi Suite 3.0.0.284
- Enable log gathering by double-clicking the enable_logs.js file in installation folder C:\Program Files\Nokia\Nokia Ovi Suite
- Click the button to start enabling the logs when prompted by the dialogue
- Click the button to confirm the "Logs are enabled" dialogue
- Exit Nokia Ovi Suite from File - Exit. This is mandatory! Closing NOS to system tray is not enough!
- Open Nokia Ovi Suite again
- Try to reproduce the error you are reporting
- If the error still exists, double click the collect_logs.js file in installation folder C:\Program Files\Nokia\Nokia Ovi Suite
- Click the button to start collecting the logs when prompted by the dialogue
- Click the button to confirm the "Logs collect & zip finished" dialogue
- Attach the NOS2_logs.zip file in C:\Temp\NOS2 folder and screenshots in the error reporting form
- Go to your %TEMP% folder, which can be found by entering %TEMP% to the Windows Explorer's address bar. Then search debug_log_date.txt in this folder, where date is the current date (or choose the latest one) and attach also this file in the error reporting form. The exact %TEMP% folder paths are:
In XP: C:\Documents and settings\your_username\LocalSettings\Temp\
In Vista and Windows 7: C:\Users\your_username\AppData\Local\Temp\
- Disable log gathering by double-clicking the disable_logs.js file in installation folder C:\Program Files\Nokia\Nokia Ovi Suite
- Click the button to start disabling the logs when prompted by the dialogue
- Click the button to confirm the "Logs are disabled" dialogue
