5230 ovi suite cannot find maps on device

new nokia 5230 and have been trying to upload maps to phone for hours, £30 credit wasted for internet connection and ovi suite keep saying cannot find maps or voice guidance files in your device. Did deleting cities folder and qf file still the same; tried to use pc suite as someone suggested but the link tells me to use ovi suite as well. No map at all in phone Please any suggestions???

Hi Mkws,
To find the installed Maps and Navigation.
Connect your device to the Pc/Laptop
Open your OVi Suite, Goto --> View -> Go to -> Maps. On the left handside bottom you can find On your device, Below that select All. It will take a while to read your phone data. It will show you the Maps and the Voice Navigation installed in your device.
Please delete all your maps which ever already installed in your device by clicking on Delete All on your right hand side top.
Now you can download and install the maps and voice navigations once again one by one.
Before this if you find any update for your maps software please go ahead and do it, prior to downloading Maps.
Hope This will resolve the issue.

I'm trying to enter in my SSID number for my kid's Wii to get it online, and I've tried to run through their tutorial. It tells me to go to Airport Utility and find my base station. Here's the deal, it says it cannot find my wireless device. And yet here I sit, complaining about it online.
How can I be online yet the computer not recognize it?

I finally just hooked up an ethernet connection and it works fine. I think the problem all along was the airport card in my iMac. I currently have my question about my airport card as a reply to another post from someone having a similar issue.

My hda died, so I put a new drive in and I'm trying to install from scratch.  Since I had linux on this box already, sda and sdb are a pair of 750G drives that I use in a RAID1 software mirror.  So my physical devices are:
hda: 160G PATA (probably had some crap on it before, will be re-partitioned and formatted)

Obviously I can't copy and paste (this isn't a VM), so there may be some typos in there.
There are a couple things that seem strange to me:
    1) [strike]I don't have a 122GB device in the system, why does sda claim 122942 MB?[/strike] That's my 160G PATA drive, interesting
    2) Why is sdb listed twice?
    3) [strike]Where is my other 750G drive?  They're SATA, it's not like I got the jumpers wrong.[/strike] In my haste to install the new drive, I knocked one of the SATA power cables out... far too easy to do, that'd never happen with the older PATA-style power plugs
The unknown partition table on sdb is expected... I'm using the raw device for software RAID, not partitioned.
I'd try the USB flash drive route, but I don't have one and I need to get this server fixed today... for now, I'll try some older Arch CDs.

  • Ovi Suite not downloading maps

I connect my 5800 to my pc, then go to Maps, the application automatically connects to the maps server but it doesn't update the maps list on the left. At the moment only the continents are displayed. It also failed to find any maps installed on my device so I deleted the cities folder and qf file. Please help.

If youn deleted the cities folder and qf file, did you recreate the folder structure? After deleting you should reboot your phone and open maps application for a few minutes then reconnect to Ovi Suite.

  • Ovi suite can see maps installed on phone, but pho...

I was using ovi maps on the phone with no problems.
After a botched phone backup, I had to do a hard reset of the phone
Now ovi won't let me download maps to the phone because it thinks they are already there but the phone can't see them (they are all on memory card)
Also when the phone does try to download the maps it errors (either usb or wifi connection)
How can I force it to realise that it already has the maps/force ovi suite to update or refresh what is on there?

    @adolfgarlic
Have you tried deleting E:\cities + .qf file from memory card, open Nokia Maps application upon 5800XM to re-define necessary folder structure to re-download your regional maps.
As your 5800XM does not have mass memory there should not be any conflicts with memory card as storage medium, which can happen upon devices so equipped!

  • OVI Suite does not recognize authorized device

Since some weeks, i cannot connect to my 6500 Classic. The pairing seems to work, Windows and the mobile both report that they are paired ( i can see a device called  Nokia 6500c in Windows, and the mobile sees my laptop as paired) but OVI suite tells me that the authorization failed.
    My environement:
    Lenovo Laptop W500
    Driver: Broadcom 6.3.0.6700
    Windows 7 Professional 64 bit
    latest OVI Suite 2.2.1.23
    What is going on ?
P.S. the probelm started in PC Suite, i just upgraded to OVI suite, but no change.

Unfortunately this does seem to have been reported with OVI Suite 3 when trying to establish connectivity with N8 for the first time; as I had previously done this with older version of OVI Suite it remained after the update fortunately. Pretty sure that it is this particular software version to blame for this issue however.
With reference to USB connectivity, default setting on N8 is "OVI Suite" mode so it should just briefly acknowledge this on device UI when connecting to PC.

  • X1 Carbon Touch Fingerprint reader 'cannot find fingerprint sensor device' e7210005

    Hi all,
I've spent far too long trying to solve this by myself, and need to reach out to someone who might have resolved this issue. I've read tons of similar questions online, and rebooted dozens of times after trying many different things.
I have a Carbon Touch 3444-CUU that can't see it's fingerprint reader. It used to work when brand new, but after lots of lenovo and windows updates, it now does not:
I am on Windows 8.1, with all updates.
    No problems in device manager.
Touchchip Fingerprint Coprocessor (WBF advanced mode) installed under Biometric devices fine.
Power management set to _not_ turn off device to save power.
    The bios is 2.61.
I suspect the problem is very low-level, because even the BIOS cannot find device when trying to set it up.
If I have the lates BIOS, but it can't see the device - what can I do?
    Thanks everyone..
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

BleachedWhale......which settings you have changed in the BIOS......
It is possible to work-around the issue, but some manual steps are needed:
    1. delete "smihlp.sys" from "c:\program files\thinkvantage fingerprint software"
    2. run "services.msc" and stop the service "Windows Biometric Service"
    3. delete the file "031D23AD-15AF-4e25-B7B3-DE34893097ED.DAT" from "c:\Windows\system32\WinBioDatabase"
    4. reboot the computer (important!!)
    5. now try to enroll some fingers
This should make it possible to enroll fingerprint and use it to log into Windows, until the bug can be fixed in some future version of BIOS and/or Fingerprint software.
    Best regards from Germany....

  • PC Suite cannot find Outlook

I recently bought Nokia 5530 Music Express, and I want to sync my Outlook 2003 calendar and contacts.
I downloaded PC Suite 7.1.40.6, but it returns the error "PC Sync was unable to locate your Outlook message store." I cannot seem to use browse or text entry to point it out.
I tried Ovi suite. It worked once, but now it will not even open. (Seems to load, be at the end says it "encountered an error and must close".)
I *NEED* my calendar on my phone. Any work-arounds? Maybe sync both to Google or something?

    I've got the same problem.
My office bought quite a few E52s for our staff.
The test installation of the PC Suite on a computer in our IT department went smooth and without problems using an account with administrative privileges and synchronizing afterwards with a restricted account.
After a few installations on staff computers I encountered the problem several times when my colleagues with restricted accounts tried to synchronize their mobile with Outlook over USB.
The administrative privilege seems not to be the problem. Even after granting it to one of my users the same error occurred.
In order to eliminate possible sources of error in the registry mail settings I deleted the current mail profile of one of the accounts and generated a new one. Same error.
    We're using WinXP SP3, Outlook 2003 SP2 and PC-Suite 7.1.40.6.
    Help would be much appreciated.

  • Ovi suite cannot access music

    Hi,
I accidentally aborted a music file transfer from PC to phone N5800 by computer shutdown.
Now when I start Nokia Ovi Suite, it seems not to have access to the music folder on my phone. Everything else works, but it shows 0 music files on my phone, although there are plenty on it. Also, when I try to synchronize music, I get the error message "files cannot be transferred" (translated from German) for each play list in the Ovi Suite. So obviously, it can neither read nor write music.
I tried to reinstall the operating system on my phone, and to reinstall and update Ovi Suite. Both was unsuccessful.
I would use Nokia Ovi Player instead, but that does not connect to the phone (neither in PC Suite nor in media transfer mode). It still tells me to connect my phone, switch it to media transfer mode, and press OK, but does not recognize the phone when I do this. And PC Suite has not integrated music manager, as I understand.
I can copy the files one by one in "file transfer mode", but then they are not linked with the phone's music player, and it is far from comfortable.
I would be either happy with a working Ovi Suite or Ovi Player
Phone: Nokia 5800 XPressMusic, softwareversion 40.0.005.C02.01
    PC: Win XP
    Nokia Ovi Suite: 2.0.2.42
    Nokia Ovi Player: 2.0.1106.00
    Connection: USB
    Thank you.

This enables me to use the mass storage mode to add music, so it is a bit better now. Thank you very much!
However, I still cannot use Ovi Suite or Ovi Player. The problems stay the same.

  • Ovi Suite can't detect my device

I have to connect my C6 to Ovi Suite but why is it that Ovi can't detect it? I connected my phone by the use of both USB and Bluetooth, and both won't work. Help please :-( Thanks!

    Hi qwertyuiop1,
I had this issue as well, but I performed a repair of Nokia Connectivity cable driver and then it started working fine.
    1. Disconnect your phone from PC if connected.
2 .Open Control Panel and go to ‘Programs and Features’
    3. From the list of available programs, choose ‘Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver’
    4. Click on the ‘Change’ button on top toolbar.
    5. In the setup dialog box that pops up next, choose ‘Repair’ and select ok. Wait for setup to complete.
    6. Restart the computer if prompted.
    7. Now connect your phone to the PC. Driver installation should complete and Ovi suite (hopefully) should detect your mobile properly now.
    Cheers

  • Ovi Suite - Cannot update C7 to symbian Anna

    Hello
I'm trying to update my mobile phone to symbian Anna, but I can't neither via Ovi Suite nor Wi-Fi connection. There is always error, that says, my mobile can't be updated (error 12017). I've reinstaled Ovi Suite and it didn't help. Restarting my mobile doesn't help either. There is still about 1MB of Symbian Anna 1/2 update to download, and it can't download it - it just start to instal and fails.
I also can't use Ovi store from my mobile - it happened about month ago. And also can't reinstal ovi store - 2mb of download left and it tries to instal it -.-
    Please, help!

Looks like N900 is not supported, could not find Maps 3.x for it.
Nokia, you say that it takes different time to port new Maps versions to different platforms, such as Symbian or Maemo.
This was told early this year already. Has the clock stopped for N900?.  Are we waiting/hoping for something that eventually will never come?

    Hi oneFinn
Looking increasingly unlikely that N900 will ever get Nokia voice navigation application unfortunately as time goes by.
