5230 - Won't show name of message sender

When I get a notification of a new text message it says "message received from #####" (##### being the number), even if the person is in my address book. But when I go into my message inbox it then does list the messages by the name (not the number) of the sender.
I get the same thing when I have a missed call - i.e. it tells me the number of the call I missed, but not the name, unless I try to return that call, in which case the name comes up.
It's driving me mad, any advice appreciated.

have you checked for duplicate contacts?
go to contacts select options and see what memo your using select either phone or sim

Find Friends recently began to show only email addresses but no contact names. It used to show the names. Not sure what has changed. Messages works fine at showing names, however.

NOKIA E63 WON'T SHOW CONTACT NAMES WHEN THEY SEND ...

I just bought the Nokia E63, and have tried everything in my power to solve the issue that, when i recieve a text message it doesn't show who it's from - it just shows their mobile number. This is so annoying and has been bugging me for hours on end. I have all my contacts saved on my sim card. Please help me!

Nokia E63 doesn't show contact from your SIM card in the phone directory directly.
You need to manually "view SIM directory" to see them.
Better you copy all the contacts from your SIM card to Phone Memory.
Then you can choose/type in the name & type message & send it.
Ya one thing is really irritating which is that even if you type the number instead of the name of a person who's entry exists in the contact list, the phone still shows the number rather then the name of the person after sending the message.

I am using Nokia 5233. This handset not showing the name of message sender but just the phone number however contacts are saved in my contact list. Many times I makes trouble to me. Please, help me!!

Is it happening for ALL contacts ? Check if you have duplicate cotacts..meaning 2 names with the SAME no. stored under contacts.. May be that you have selected to display contacts fromboth SIM and Phone memory .. If so, select to display ONLY Phone memory ...

Films can currently only be downloaded once from the store, which I think is a requirement from the film distributors, so they won't show in the Purchased section for re-downloading. Have you not got a backup of it on, for example, an external drive or CD/DVD ?

Messages won't show on lock screen or app icon

My messages won't show on my lock screen and my messages app icon. Also it will say 'sending 1 of 10' or something like that when actually the messages send and delivered but it won't say that. Also sometimes when I go to open an app it won't open it at all. Just today on my messages that are open it got rid of everybody's name and it just shows the number. Also it's constantly saying I have no storage left! When actually I've deleted loads of apps since its been saying this yet the amount of storage I have is the same...which is none left. Ugh I'm so frustrated with it please someone help me

Some email shows name of sender some show address

In Mail, in my upper viewing pane where all emails are shown in a list, some show the name of the sender (John Doe) and some show the email address ([email protected]). I have smart addresses turned on, and in the body of the message all emails show the name, rather than the address. Those where only the email address shows are in my address book, so they're not unknown to the system. What's up with this? Is that something I can change or is that a setting in the sender's preferences as to what they want to appear?

Safari won't start after showing an error message: Safari can't use the extension "Omnibar" because the extension is no longer valid.

Since yesterday evening (19-01-2015) safari won't start. After clicking the safari application it shows an error message: Safari can't use the extension "Omnibar" because the extension is no longer valid.
This message almost directly disappears whereupon the Problem Report opens. I've tried to find a solution on the web but without succes.
I'm running OS X Yosemite version 10.10.1 and Safari version 8.0.2 on a:
MacBook Pro (Retina 13-inch, Mid 2014)
Processor 3 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics Intel Iris 1536 MB
Since I updated to Yosemite I've been having multiple problems. I already read a clean install will solve most of them. But till then I would love safari to work again.

There is no need to download anything to solve this problem.
If Safari crashes on launch and you don't have another web browser, you should be able to launch Safari by starting up in safe mode.
You may have installed the "Genieo" or "InstallMac" ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it.
Back up all data before making any changes.
Besides the files listed in the linked support article, you may also need to remove this file in the same way:
~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.genieo.completer.ltvbit.plist
If there are other items with a name that includes "Genieo" or "genieo" alongside any of those you find, remove them as well.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those.
After removing the malware, remember to reset your home page in all the web browsers affected, if it was changed.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, then you may have one of the other kinds of adware covered by the support article. Follow the rest of the instructions in the article.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. Chances are you got it from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates (OS X 10.10 or later)
or
Download updates automatically (OS X 10.9 or earlier)
if it's not already checked.

Text message won't display name

I just bought an iPhone 4s this weekend. I upgraded from a 3G. The transition seemed to go smoothly. I hooked it up to my iMac and iTunes transferred everything over, apps, documents, contacts, photos, music, etc. Seemed to go off without a hitch. My 3G would show the name of the sender of a text or a phone call if that person was in my contacts. My new iPhone 4S won't. I would really like to get this set up again. When the phone rings, if the person is in my contacts, the name shows in the banner. But when I go to recent calls list, it just shows as a number. So if I want to call back, there is no name. Same with the text. There is no name so I don't know who I am getting a text from or texting back to unless I can recognize the number. I am so used to my 3G that I no longer recognize the numbers.
Any help would be appreciated.

My phone won't show notifications for text messages on my lock screen or my home screen, even thought both are turned on under the settings. Once I go into the messaging app, they will show up as new but not anywhere else. I get notifications for everything else except text messages.

Messages should work with the email address that you use for your Apple ID. You have to be signed into that email address in order for any other email address that you have added to work.
You should add your iPhone number to your Apple ID on the iPad, and then select that as the contact address at which you can be reached and all of the messages between the phone and the iPad will sync again.

Phone number missing on iPad or iPod touch
If your phone number isn't listed on an iPod touch or iPad, follow these steps:
Update to the latest version of iOS.
Verify that you're using the same Apple ID that you're using on your iPhone.

Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
Settings > FaceTime. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.

Showing "Load More Messages", won't download.

On my iPod Touch, my email account is showing "Load More Messages", won't download any of these old messages. How do I get these downloaded?
It's related to my email provider somehow re-sending approx 1000 old messages. My desktop program downloaded them okay, but the iPod Touch won't download a single one of them.

Resolved, sort of. I went on my webmail server, created a new folder called Archive and put all the messages from the inbox in there. Since they are no longer in my inbox, my iPod Touch is not longer trying to download them.

It is possible for the recipent not to have your name for your number in their address book for your contact info, but the recipent must do that.
So does that mean just my number will show when i send a text to the person using an android phone?

Have you ever received a text from a phone number that is not in your address book? If so, what do you see? You should see the phone number only. The same applies for someone you are sending a text to.

If you have all your music on the cmputer then i would connect up my phone uncheck the Sync Music option and apply.
This should take all the music off your phone .Then you can resync the music back on to it.
If this doesn't work maybe a restore to factory settings and start from scratch is the way to go

Outlook, text message, sender's name doesn't display

I am using Outlook to send text messages, but when messages come in, it only lists the phone number, not the name of the sender. All of the contacts
are in my contacts, with their mobile phone numbers, and when I go to send a text I can just type in their name, and Outlook recognizes them. How do I get Outlook to display the name of the sender?
