5250 Emulator Session

Hi All,
I've installed SGD 4.3 and licensed it up. However, when I try to launch a 5250 app or even a 3270 app, I get the following error....
Error
Launch failed.
Application: .../_ens/o=TDS/cn=5250Test
Fault Code: Server.ServerDisabled
Fault String: Server is disabled.
Now I know what you're thinking... the server is disabled.. but no, all my other apps work fine. If I disable the server, then I get similar errors with my other apps, but enabling it makes it all work again. Except for the 5250 and 3270 character applications.....
Anybody seen this before?? or have any ideas??

Oh, and just to add as well... With the native client I get the error..
Starting the application...
No host supports the application type(scotta5250application) you are trying to launch.
I'm running SDG on Solaris 10 Sparc.

I am trying to connect to an as400 server via the sgd 5250 enhancement package.
I created an testobject where i specified the hostname of the as 400 server and set the port to 23/tcp.
Now I tried to start the application as webtop or independent application but getting both times an :
Error
Launch failed.
Application: .../_ens/o=TDS/cn=5250Test
Fault Code: Server.LaunchFailed

What can i do to debug this topic

Unable to specify username password for emulator sessions on MAC OS 10.5.2

We have a strange issue at one of our customers. When the want to start an emulator session the login dialog box does not accept keystrokes when started from a MAC-client with MAC OS 10.5.2 (X11 version 2.1.1). People cannot enter their credentials after clicking on the Desktop icon.
They can though select the fields with the mouse.
It works with 10.4.11 (X11 version 1.1.3) and on the first release of 10.5 (X11 version ?)
When a user starts the emulator session from a Windows machine or MAC (with working version) and enter the credentials ans select to save the credentials.
After the credentials are cached login credentials with a MAC with OS 10.5.2 the emulator session starts with the cached credentials.

That's not been officially tested, so it isn't supported (or even recommended), but it does seem to work....

5250 emulator portlet

Can anyone recommend a 5250 emulator that integrates into Plumtree?

I have just recently been working on some code to access an AS/400 via a web technology. I am using MS OLEDB from C#/.NET, but ODBC, and JDBC should work as well. Here is what I believe to be true, but this is all pretty new to me, so there may be some details that are not precise. But, all disclosures aside, I AM CALLING AN AS/400 PROGRAM via OLEDB. I am using the iSeries IBMDA400 OleDb provider.
The good news:
It appears that I can call ANY program on the AS/400 as though it is a stored procedure through OleDB (and ODBC/JDBC as well if there is a JDBC driver ... probably, but I haven't looked for JDBC), and that program does seem to get invoked.
The bad news:
I could never get the input and output arguments to/from the AS/400 program to work properly. So, the invoked AS/400 program never ran correctly. If you don't have arguments, or perhaps if your arg types are simple enough, this may work?
The solution:
I could however create an external stored procedure that called my AS/400 program and I was able to properly map the arguments. I could then call my AS/400 program through the created external stored procedure.
This did work.
There are also 3rd party solutions to this problem. My company uses a product from a vendor named Transoft that has a solution for this that I know does interface from Java to AS/400. And, I know it works ... most of the time.

Webservice, relation between webtop- and emulator sessions ?

is there a way to find out, which emultor session belongs to which ttwebtop session if
if logged twice in with a UserProfile marked as "UserProfile.Multiple=yes" (means
this user can login concurrently more than once)..
I played around with the webservice testapi http://sgd-host/sgd/admin/apitest/
but can find any relationship between the emultor- and webtopsession for this
szenario ....

This it is apperent that session is identified based
on the request.No. The session is maintained by the server using cookies / URL rewriting etc.
But this could be solved. If each request can embed
the machine ip with it, then all the request coming
from same IP could be related to one session. And then
it would be possible to return the same session on
multiple requests from user.You can already do this by using the methods I described in my previous reply. Using the client IP address to identify a session is not a good idea. If you have multiple clients coming through the same proxy server they will all have the same ip address, so they'll all share the same session!
But poses another problem, if we idetify session based
on machine ip, a user logged in an application with
two different user ids from the same machine wont be
able to get two different sessions. Bcos sessions are
identified by requests and requests are identified by
client IP address.You shouldn't try to associate multiple sessions with a single machine.
So, my question is, is it really a limitation of any
web application developed with java, that it cannot
allow two user ids logged in simulteneously on same
machine ??You can do things like use different browsers that don't share cookies etc. But really you should log in as one user, log out, and then log back in as the second user.

Emulation on iseries

Trying to print on a hp laserjet P1606dn. The pc is running on Windows 7. The pc documents print, such as word documents or stuff from Lotus Notes (email). I setup a emulation session on the iseries using HP5 for the driver. It was working and now it won't print. I have had them reboot. I deleted the printer and reinstalled. there is another one of these printers in the next office and he prints from the iseries, no problem.

Sorry that you are having these issues printing from certain programs. (Shane_R) has a great post on downloading a alternate driver.

Joining 3.42 in array

We have 2 3.42 systems - one on Fedora Core 1 and one on RedHat Enterprise
3 and wish to join as an array. However no matter whether use command line
or array manager and primary or secondary(to be), it starts - prompting
for administrator account, and then fails with no very informative message.
I wonder if because no telnet & using ssh with root as adminitrator
account?

Try using the following command to help you see why the servers are not
attaching. You can post the output. From the primary.
$ tarantella array join primary FQDN secondary FQDN --verbose
Use FQDN and make sure that each can resolve the other.
Other things to look out for.
* You need to have port 5427 open between the servers
* servers need to be able to resolve each other, use DNS
Your problem does not sound like it has anything to do with telnet or
ssh.

What happens is that the array join command prompts for secondary admin
username & password, which it accepts and then completes.
Running tarantella status --verbose initially yields:

No - they both have single ethernet port & are both on same subnet.
PeterSituation resolved - did not have correct reverse DNS set up - now fine.
Just a pity no very obvious error message to alert to this problem.

Using WEP w/ DOS based PC and 350 card.

We are currently using a DOS based PC that runs only a 5250 emulator. We connect to the network via a Cisco 350 card on a wide open wireless network. We have successfully set one of these units up to run of WEP side of our wireless. But all other units we cannot get to connect. We have tried loading all the different firmwares for the 350 card. All of the 4.x firmwares load fine and sets WEP key but won't connect to network. When we load the 5.x versions of the firmware, we get a Error Accessing Card: 8007 error when loading WEP key. We are wondering how to be able to get around this 8007 error, to be able to successfully try to connect with the newest firmware of the 350 card. Any thoughts?

That is a well known bug with SAP MMC. Next time you open SAP MMC, and you go to close it, make sure your last action was not looking at the Process List - open the syslog or whatever but get out of that Process List BEFORE you close the SAP MMC session.
Next time you open the SAP MMC, you won't get that message.

Windows size problem when resume apps, TTA SGD E4.0

Hi,
I have a problem and can�t find the solution yet.
I open windows apps in my desktop with a 800x600 resolution, the app is
configured for independent window, clients maximun size and fill my screen
completely as suppose to do. Then I close the window app clicking the X icon
to suspend the emulator session.
When I resume a suspended emulator session or move to other workstation and
take the session over the emulator session window size is 640x480 and stick
there whatever I try to do, worst is I can�t see the full window and also
there are no scroll bars, so I can�t reach the START icon on the lower left
to close the app because the session becomes useless.
The workarround solution was set the "scale to fit" properties in 640x480
and then I can see the full window to reach the star icon and close the app
to start over, but the user complain about the small letters and slow
performance. Another clue is if I click on the maximize icon the window try
to fill up my screen and then inmediatelly go back to 640x480.

Thanks for your answer but my problem is the Linux server OS, is Red Hat AS
2.1 wich is not supported in TTA 4.10.
When I tried to make the TTA upgrade failed due library issues.
Is my problem a reported bug for TTA 4.0 ???
Can you give any other advise or workarround ??

Help on Palm replicating with 9i Lite

Please help!!
I've been strugling with Oracle Lite and palm for over 3 weeks
with little success.
My actual status:
- Oracle 8i as database server on Windows NT
- Oracle 9iLite 5.0 server on a Windows 2000 machine
- Palm OS 3.5 with Emulator
- I'm using webtogo.exe, not any application servers.
- I found out that there are inumerous errors that the Packaging
wizard doesn't show, so now I only run the webtogo in debug mode
(-d)
- Looking at those errors, I have been able to create some
snapshots with success.
- When I sincronize with the palm, either by hotsync or by
mSync, I get some nonsense errors:
On Palm:
- Emulator memory errors
- Errors after mSync consolidates that don't have any reference
anywhere else, like -9025:0
On the webtogo console:
- I get the error ORA-00942 (view or table doesn't exist) quite
often
- I get the java null pointer exception quite oftenly
For 2 times, my replication process seemed to work. I tried some
very simple examples (1 table with 1 column). After replication,
the database was created and I could access the table data on
palm through mSQL and even see my data. When that happenned I
can replicate as many times as I want without a problem. After
that I removed the application and tried to recreate it with the
same parameters and it didn't work any more!!!
I had some conclusions of which I'm not so sure anymore:
1 - After publicating an application with the publication
wizard, I should wait until MGP completes a cycle before trying
to replicate
2 - I should include all fields of my snapshot, one by one,
instead of using *
3 - All the tables I'll replicate must be created with the
system user !!!
4 - After I delete an application, I'd better create a new
emulator session (in a palm that would mean a hard reset),
instead of believing that the sync process will erase the old
database properly.
5 - The Database name on the cliente must be filled, although
the webtogo server log doesn't say anything about it when I
publish the application.
My instincts tell me I should wait because there must be a patch
on the way. My problem is that I must deliver a project that's
complete, only lacking the replication part.
Any ( I really mean any ) kind of help would be very welcome,

It is a Palm OS issue. v5.1 is not supported until Olite 5.0.2.2.
If you have access to metalink, you can check if that version is posted.

Homogenous System Copy - 1.8Tb ECC 6.0 - ABAP - avoid tape?

We've been performing homogenous system copies for the past 10 years with much success.
When we've had the disk space available, have been able to SAVLIB R3<SID>DATA to *SAVF & then restore from the *SAVF
Avoiding the use of our LTO3 tape for both the BACKUP & RESTORE PORTION cuts hours off the process.
Now with the R3<SID>DATA library hitting about 1.8Tb, the *SAVF hits the maximum size allowable of 1TB and we can no longer use that method.
Has anyone come up with a creative way to do this without tape?
We have an ECC 6.0 upgrade go-live for May'08 and will need to refresh the training <SID> (fully copy of PRD) weekly
The toolset capabilities in a SAN environment on other unmentioned platforms are much more robust where this can be achieved in minutes vs. 10 hrs (or more for both the backup & restore).

Here are the basic commands for setting up virtual tape through 5250 emulation:
1. To create a virtual tape device:
CRTDEVTAP DEVD(TAPVRT01) RSRCNAME(*VRT)
2. To vary on the virtual tape device:
VRYCFG CFGOBJ(TAPVRT01) CFGTYPE(DEV) STATUS(ON)
3. To create a virtual tape image catalog:
CRTIMGCLG IMGCLG(backup) DIR('/images/tape/backup') TYPE(TAP) CRTDIR(YES)
4. To create virtual images in the image catalog:
ADDIMGCLGE IMGCLG(BACKUP) FROMFILE(*NEW) TOFILE(VOL001) VOLNAM(VOL001)
Repeat for as many volumes as needed.
5. To load the image catalog on to the virtual device:
LODIMGCLG IMGCLG(backup) DEV(TAPVRT01)
The virtual tape storage is ready for operation:
TAPVRT01 is used as the device (DEV) parameter.

Problem with debug XT75

JavaME SDK 3.0 storage issues

1. How to make RMS storage to be persistent between emulator sessions? By default storage file doesn't survive after emulator restart.
2. Where are Preferences? On WTK there is prefs.exe which allows to set all preferences, e.g. lunch profiler, memory monitor etc
3. Why Tools & Extensions in Netbean Java Platform Manager is disabled? How to enable it?

To your first question, apparently you have to install the MIDlet to the emulator first for the RMS to be stored between sessions. You need to give the following run parameter to install the MIDlet:
emulator -Xjam:install="<PATH TO JAD>"The id of the installed suite is printed to console output, which you'll need to run it in next part.
Then, in order to run the installed MIDlet you need to run it with the following parameter:
emulator -Xjam:run=<ID OF THE SUITE>
However, when I install the MIDlet like this, it gets installed as Untrusted even if the domain is specified as Maximum (with the -Xdomain:Maximum parameter). I also tried building a signed package with a Verisign certificate with the root certificates imported to the emulator keystore. During install the MIDlet is shown as Trusted, but it still gets installed as Untrusted. If I just run it normally without using the installed version, I can use the Maximum domain, but then the RMS isn't saved. So either way, I can't get it to work the way I want to.
I'd rather just run it the way I used to in the previous WTK. Is it even possible to run my current code with max permissions and no security prompts with the RMS stored between sessions?
For now, it's back to WTK 2.5.2 for me, since JDK 3.0 emulators are just so much trouble.

Failing to start any Application : Server.ServerDisabled

Hi,
after a network failure I had to re-join my sgd array (cause the array was automatically split). Now I am getting for every of my 1500 Application Objects the following error message on a users the webtop:

Fault String: Server is disabledI added several additional log entries to find some usefull hints solving this problem. But none of them seems to give me an additional hint to come closer to a solution.
