I'm not sure what you're trying to do, here.
Yes, you can use a mapping to switch incoming messages to new channels, based on source ip address.

  • Sender address for vacation mail

    Dear people,
I´m trieing to activate a vacation mail on my mail server (OS X Server 10.6.4).
The server tries to send the automatic reply an fails with the following log entry in /var/log/mail.log:
+delays=0/0.01/0.09/0.1, dsn=5.0.0, status=bounced (host XXX\[x.x.x.x\] said: 553 Mail to <[email protected]> not allowed; missing domain name in MAIL FROM (in reply to RCPT TO command))+
Where host is the mail relay. The logs on the mail relay show matching entries.
    Sending mails is generally working.
I´ve allready set the value of myorigin in /private/etc/postfix/main.cf (Config file of dovecot) but to no avail.
Can somebody tell me where I can set the sender address of the vacation mail?
Or is there something else wrong?
    Thank you very much.
    Best regards

  • Invalid FROM/SENDER addresses?

What is everyone's thoughts/expierence with trying to enforce valid FROM e-mail addresses? I work for an organization of 16,000 users and currently any IT person can write a script to send e-mail FROM any address even an invalid one. The problem that I'm seeing is now this e-mail has no valid place to bounce back to if it fails to deliver for whatever reason. This has caused everything from thousands of e-mails queued up on our appliances that have no place to deliver to, to the IT person not being able to track down a simple delivery failure because it couldn't come back to their mailbox. The big concern that I have is when e-mail leaves our environment with an invalid FROM address, I'm guessing this can't be good for our sender reputation. Any thoughts? Do I try to enforce valid FROM/Sender e-mail addresses?
Thanks and LONG LIVE THE NATION!

Just checking to see if there has been any further developments on this topic from CISCO/IronPort.
I took over an installation that had 200+ domains that we hosted and I'm narrowing that down to one.  Due to the number of e-mail domains we had the IronPort appliances were basically originally configured to allow anything from our internal network to be delivered.  Now that we have consolidated down to only a handful of e-mail domains I am starting to clean this up.
Currently I am just using mail polices that does a LDAP lookup on the sender address and then in a policy following that I use a content filter on the Sender header.  Any sent e-mail that misses the LDAP lookup is invalid and then I have a content filter on the following policy looking for that same domain.  If the content filter has any hits the sender must not have been in the LDAP and thus invalid.
I also have some e-mail domains that are sending e-mail via my appliances that I don't have access to LDAP for and I guess I could use the Envelope Sender matches dictionary content method.
The challenge that I'm starting to find though is if someone has 'forwarding' turned on an account.  Still working to find a way to resolve that.
Anyway, wanted to send the discussion to the top and see if anyone else out there was fighting the good fight.
    Long live the Nation!

  • Invalid sender address

    Hi,
I have to send an email, but the sender address may be invalid, in which case I should suppy a "default" valid address. Is it possible to check that address before calling Transport.send(Message m, Address[] a)? Is there any isAddressValid() method?
    Thanks,
    Mgalois

No, an application cannot, but a library can. I finally found a solution: first I perform a "local" check of the email address (if @ char isn't present, if a dot isn't present after the index of @ etc.) then I send the message and check the exception message. If the message contains the string "Domain of sender address <the_address> does not exist" then the address isn't valid.

  • Getting error "Sender address invalid"

I've had the phone since release and everything has been working smoothly (and I am happy our area finally got the 3G network!), until I got a new email address.
I can receive my email fine on the phone, but when I go to reply and hit send, it tells me "Sender Address Invalid."
Does anyone know how to resolve this? Or because of my domain name, which is a Qwest email address (ends in @q.com) does Apple not like this?
Any help would be great. Thanks!

My 3G started this "invalid" stuff over Christmas. Thanks for the comments on how to fix. FYI, I had to take an extra step because my email address is [email protected]
The delete restart account did not work...I tried several times. Then I entered my email address as [email protected] It still didn't work, but put me into what looked like the old iPhone pop3 setup screen. I then changed the two [email protected] addresses to [email protected] and it works fine.

  • Cannot Send Mail: The sender address was invalid

I continually keep getting this prompt after every single email I send. The sender address is verified and is valid...HELP!!

This error message is not accurate.
This means there is a problem with the account's outgoing mail server.
Most, if not all internet service providers block the use of SMTP servers that are outside of their network or not provided by the ISP being used for your internet connection at the time unless the SMTP server is authenticated. A cell phone carrier's network is no exception. This restriction is part of an overall effort to prevent spam emanating from the ISP's domain.
Who is the email account provider for this account? Do you know if the account has an authenticated SMTP server?
What country are you located in and who is your cell phone carrier?

  • Roadrunner/cwmx and Invalid sender address problems

I have spent hours trying to fix problem with Road Runner email when not connected to rr via wifi.
Background: rr doesn't allow smtp outgoing if you aren't connected to their cable. Thus you have to be on wifi from your cable router. So, many folks turn on ATT cwmx.com smtp server to send mail when on 3G or Edge. iPhone email is supposed to try next smtp server if first one fails. But when sending mail many folks are getting "Invalid sender address" error message.
I had thought the error message was coming from cwmx but now think that it is coming from road runner's smtp server and the iPhone is not going on to the next smtp server, i.e. cwmx.com.
Maybe this is the problem/bug. I know there are some other bugs in iPhone mail app. For example I have 4 smtp servers showing in "Other SMTP servers" all with the same address and there is no way to delete the duplicates.

It is usually the ISP being used for the internet connection with the SMTP server restriction.
Most, if not all ISPs block the use of SMTP servers that are outside of their network (or that isn't provided by the ISP) unless the SMTP server is authenticated.
Most ISPs don't provide/support an authenticated SMTP server, and Time Warner is one of them. If TW provided/supported an authenticated SMTP server for RoadRunner accounts, using RR's SMTP server wouldn't be an issue regardless the internet connection.
I access my MobileMe account and a business POP account with the iPhone's Mail client. Both accounts have an authenticated SMTP server and I've never had a problem sending with either account regardless my internet connection - via numerous wi-fi connections with different ISPs or via EDGE with my first generation iPhone, or via 3G or EDGE with my iPhone 3G.
These restrictions are in place as a part of an overall effort to prevent spam emanating from the ISP's domain.

  • I cannot send emails. i get the sender address was rejected by the server

i cannot send emails. i get the sender address was rejected by the server

    Greetings.
Same issue...... can't determine what username and password are ?
But, went thru process @ apple.com/support and changed port to 25.  :::::
"Relaying denied" or "Email address rejected by the server" when you try to send email
This error indicates that either an email address is incorrect or your settings aren't correct for your current connection. Make sure the email address is correct for messages in the Outbox or try a different port:
If you're on a Wi-Fi network connected to the same network as your email domain, such as your Cable or DSL provider, try port 25:
Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Tap your email account, then tap Account.
Scroll down and tap Outgoing Mail Server.
Tap Primary Server, then tap Server Port.
Delete the current port and enter 25.
    Tap Done.
Now my iPhone5s is frozen in the "verifying" mode.  I can not stop it???????????????
    Now what?
    thank you

  • I am sending mails to a particular domain from MVC3 application, more details below Is there any server settings for the same?

From MVC3 Application, There is mail functionality it works well but if in TO address if I am including a recipient mail of external domain mail is sent but taking long time. and If I am using same mail id with an another mail id it works immediately.
Could you please advice the resolution?
    Bhanu Prakash K

    Hi Bhanu Prakash K,
Did you mean that send email to an external domain email account slowly via MVC application? However, when
send to an internal email account, will work
    immediately?
Based on your description, this issue seems to be more related to MVC application. I suggest you should post
this question in ASP.NET Model-View-Controller (MVC) Forum. I believe we will get a better assistance there.
If any update or anything I misunderstand, please don't hesitate to let me know.
