just been given a 5500 sport as a work phone people can only hear me when i am wearing my bluetooth earpiece, with the handset alone i am silewnt to callers and to people i am calling i can hear an echo of myself very loudly

its probably the phone, try calling someone different and see if that works, if it doesn't your microphone is probably blocked with something, check if its not dusty or the other option is taking it to a nokia service centre.

Noone can hear me when I'm using bluethooth device...

First I thought it could be something wrong with the bluethooth device (ck300), but I have tried another devices that works with other phones. I try to tap the microphone on the connected device, but no sound in the other phone I have called. Should I try a hard reset? Could there be a softwareproblem with the bluethooth function in the phone? I recently upgraded to ver. 30, but I had the same problem before that.

6233 nobody can hear me speakng to them!?

Just recently theres a small logo/symbol appeared at the top of myscreen that kind of looks like a piece of film pulled out (?) and when someones calling, the prompts at the bottom of the screen only say "hold" . since its appeared noone can hear me speaking to them. Ive tried everything including plugging in my hands free and nothing works. I can still text thugh. Theres no mention of this logo/symbol anywhere inthe nokia guide? PLease help????? Den x

Im not sure what the logo is your describing.
Im trying to remember any symbols that may appear on the screen that will stop communication.
Loopset?
Text phone?
Headset?
These are the only ones i can think of.
Just go through your enhancement menu and see if anything is selected and turned on.

5500 Sport

Hi can any one help I have a Nokia 5500 sport when I connect to a Parrot CK 3000 hands free in the car I can hear and receive messages but they some times cannot here me this seams to be an intermittent fault can any one help thanks Andrew

you can try to upgrade the software of your 5500... the 5500 defaults to low volume because this has somthing to do with regulatiions in EU...

Abominal Voice dial - 5500 Sport

The automatic "recognitition" of contacts is virtually unworkable, as it doesn't read contacts in the same way as I speak.
I think I speak quite conventional English, and have even tried to speak with the atrocious intonation of the auto- voice TAG. All is useless.
Is there anyway that I can record my own voice tags, or download software to do this? Otherwise, has anyone found a method to defeat the communication barrier, and make voice dialling work?

Nokia 5500 Sport update

When is Nokia going to release the latest (4.60 I think) version of the 5500 Sport software via NSU?
Why is my product code giving me "no update available" message when I've already been updating from 3.14 to 3.55 via NSU?
I'd really like to hear directly from Nokia about this, thanks!

Deleting messages could be the solution to the "speed" and instability problems... But this is not quite the point. I want to know why Nokia is not making the latest update available on NSU, and when are they planning to do so!

5500 sport,Antenna Coupler and Holder incompatabil...

I have a Nokia 5500 sport which is causing some grief in relation to finding and appropriate antenna coupler and a suitable phone holder. I am wanting to install a CK- 7W car kit with an external broomstick antenna but am limited I think to a universal holder CR-39 because of the phone. I already have the CK-7W but need some advice as to which cradle I can get that will support an antenna coupler and what model of antenna coupler I should purchase. The dealer has sold me an AX-15s coupler and a CR-39 holder but the two do not match!

The only company which i know of that do a cradle for the 5500 sport is THB Bury, but you will have to buy a full new car kit for this not a ck-7w, although it dose have antenna connection and charging.

5500 Sport - Volvo V 70 (2008) handfree set blueto...

I bought a Volvo V70 Model 2008 with built in bluetooth handfree kit. According to my Volvo Dealer the newest software is installed. My Nokia 5500 Sport connects without any problems but the phone book list on the car device remains empty (it works with my wifes blackberry and some other nokia phones i.e 2630). Does anyone have some helpful tips?

Car manufacturers are now building complex car kits into their vehicles.
One of the functions, is that it pulls the phone book data from the phone via bluetooth.
A lot of the Nokia E and N series, Symbian S60 handsets, or Ns40s do not carry the required bluetooth profile in their bluetooth stack.
The phone is missing the Phone Book Access Profile (PBAP) that allows the car to pull data from the phone.
Why the phones do not carry the profile is unknown. What is known is that using the Nokia 810 car kit downloader software, you can partly restore some of this functionality.

You'll need to delete the pairing in the handset and the car, then install the application.
When it is installed start the application, and then re-pair the phone to the radio, this may then copy your contacts into the radio, be paitent, as it can take a few minutes to copy and setup.
It may copy the phone book over, but the Missed Dialled and Received calls may not work.
I have tested this with an Audi S3, A4, and A6 on a Nokia N82 and N95.
The Nokia E71, appears to have the profile and functions correctly with an Audi car kit.
Installing the 810 downloader only restores phone book functionality, there are some software combinations on car and phones that work without the downloader.
It may also be possible for your car manufacturers franchised dealer to be able to update the software in your car so that additional features are available, they may charge for this service. Also updating software in the phone may also help, as Nokia may see fit to add the profile if they are able.
Some N95 users report that the downloader is not required, I have tried this in my S3 with a Vr30 N95-1 and it does not work at present.
The workaround only resolves the problem with the phone book. Problems such as random disconnecting which also is reported, are beyond the scope of this article.

5500 Sport Firmware no longer in NSU

Hi,
According to NSU and "can I update" link, there are no longer software updates for 5500 sport.
I have no nokia care point near enough to travel too.
I have version 03.14 05-07-06
Can anyone tell me if there's anywhere else I can get the latest firmware?

I too have just got my 5500 back from repairs (with the new 3.18 firmware put on), although I sent mine in because my silent/general profile # button didn’t work.
So far I haven’t found my number buttons to come unstuck (I have had the black/silver 5500 since late September), although this could be down to the fact that I'm not a heavy user… I just press a few buttons now and then!
It must be said though that Nokia has definitely got a problem on their hands by not getting the glue/keypad issue sorted (perhaps a product recall would be in order to replace all the “old style” keypads?)
As for the browser issue, I find that if I go into “Web” under “My Own”, then I get the following message:
“Web: unsupported content type”
Although I am with Orange and it connects using the “Orange Internet” settings (perhaps they are causing it?), I do find though that I don’t have a problem (at least nothing I have found yet) if I visit a site (I have only gone to a couple but they seem to be alright, no error messages!)
I am hoping that either the keypad will hold out for the year (as I'll upgrade again then) or that it will fall off before the 6 month “consumables” warranty runs out in March ’07.

Disable training in 5500 Sport

hello all,
I've recently bought a nokia 5500 sport and i noticed that the training application keeps starting every time i boot my phone.
There is no point of that since i never use it, so i was wondering if there is any way to uninstall the application or disable the automatic startup.
I tried to find the application files and delete them using a file explorer, however i couldn't find any...
any help would be much appriciated.

Hey man! Look there is one possible thing that you can do, plug your phone to PC (using DATA Cable), and chose one of three modes (excepts nokia mode)! Hope this helped ж)

iPhone 3GS, I've had it about a week.
Person can hear me for first 10-15 sec of call, then nothing. I can still hear them just fine. Signal strengh is at full bars.
I had a 10minute conversation with a friend at about noon. Since then the only thing I have done is sync the phone adding about another 1GB of songs.
I used a pair of earbuds to listen to some music before I noticed the phone issue. I did some research and thought maybe it had something to do with the (seriously stupid) headphone switch and did the "insert and pull" of the iPhone 3GS headphones about 30 times now with no change. Making a call with the 3GS headphones has the same issue.
I'm leaving on a 3 day trip tomorrow morning and have to leave before my local Apple store opens. I've got a "call back" scheduled for first thing in the morning but hoping someone knows a way to fix it. Thanks in advance for any help that can be given.

Okay did a full restore and still getting some weirdness. Before I retored apps/music I just used the basic phone.
- As long as I make a call and hold it to my ear it works but getting a 2 second delay, I can seriously have a conversation with myself due to the delay. This wasn't happening before.
- If I pull the phone away, wait a few seconds then put it back there is about a 4-5 second delay before my voice can be heard again.
- Speaker phone isn't picking up my voice at all but if I pull the phone away without turning on speaker phone it picks up my voice perfectly.
Doing a full restore of apps/music now to see if it changes. UGH, seriously not what I needed before traveling.

When using phone nobody can hear me

I hear everyone loud and clear. Facetime works fine and I can record my voice, so I can't figure out why I am not transmitting audio when just using the phone??

I recently bought an iphone 4s from bangkok. I am a resident of new delhi. I was sold the phone by telling that its a product of international one year warranty so need not to worry.
As i started using the phone, I have realised that the microphone of the phone doesnt work. I keep on speaking but noone can listen to me on the other side. I tried headphone and it was fine. I tried speaker phone with mic on top and it was fine.
I called apple to find out that this is a replaced handset which has been replaced by Apple.
After all the ifs and buts, It was agreed with them that it is still a product of Apple and is under one year warranty. They have agreed for replacement but only if I can take this phone to a apple store in Korea or Australia. Which is highly impossible for me.
I wonder what to do. Whether to speak with apple again to see if they can provide replacement in New Delhi itself, or ask a local technical expert to repair it for me.?
Kindly advice what should I do to get my mic working fine.

Hi! I wonder, after starting sport application on 5500, how you can close it(defenetely)?! I've tryed close it in @task app@ (holding menu key, then pushing "c" button) but it doesn't work So, how it close Thanks

it`s not easy! but it can be done..pay attention.
connect the phone via usb to your laptop (obviously pc suite must be installed). the phone will then ask you if you want to transfer music, data or be in pc suite mode. select data transfer on your phone. it then closes all applications automatically!!! including the sprt manager.
so there you go..only catch is if you switch the phone off then on again, you have to go through the process again. also if you open the sports manager again, you cant close it. you must connect tp pc suite again.
so it doesn`t really help that much hey?? just deal with it.. i have.

5500 Sport not responding afetr a failed update

I tried to update my 5500 sport this morning and it failed about 2/3rds of the way through and now it won't turn on! Can anybody help me?

I think that is what caused it, judging by the way I'm getting the ding dong, dong ding every coupe of seconds with the phone plugged in now.
When I tried the first time the phone froze an the updater told me it had lost the connection, so I started it again. Then when the updater told me it had lost the connection for a 2nd time the phone was dead.
Yes I think that the phone lost its usb connection but the cable wa never unplugged.

5500 Sport: Sports manager failes to syncronize

I have had my 5500 Sport for more than a year and have always had problems syncing with Sports manager.
Typically, a 90 minutes exercise takes about 90 minutes to sync with Sports manager. That is an unacceptable long time all the time I have connected the phone to my computer's USB2-port.
But worse, the last few months it hasn't been possible to get ANY exercise-data transferred from the phone to the PC. When I connect the phone and start Sports manager, the lists of my exercises and planned exercises are downloaded to the PC and the statusbar keeps scrolling with the message "Syncronizing ongoing". I have left the phone connected over night, but it still says the same and no data are being transmitted to the "data" folder.
I have upgraded the phone to the latest firmware available, but that didn't help.
Any suggestions? I fear that if I reset the phone I will lose all my exercise-data recorded, so I haven't tried that yet.

I couldn't agree more! The progressbar even continues to run after the phone is disconnected from my PC! The programmers have obviously missed the point of having a progressbar in the first place...
But since nobody has any solution to this huge syncronize-problem; does anybody know where the exercise-data is stored on the phone? Then I could manually retrieve it somehow. I have examined the phone-memory ( C: ) and the flash-card, but I can't find any files that would look like any exercise-data.
