5508 is it safe to cancel a image download

Hi,
I started a download to a 5508 to upgrade to 7.2.110, but the connection across a vpn is slow and taking too long. Can I cancel the download w/o corrupting the current image and/or setup?
I don't see a cancel button anywere in the gui and don't want do it unless the controller will handle an incomplete download correctly.

There are two phases of the transfer:
1- transferring the file to WLC memory.
2- installing the transferred image.
If the transfer is not complete you can cancel and WLC will ignore the part that was already downloaded.
If transfer is complete then you can not cancel the install process and you have to wait for it (this phase does not usually take long time)
So you can cancel the transfer. Better always to have backp before rebooting the WLC for emergencies.

Fifth-Third did a major upgrade this past weekend, if you are seeing any differences in their services now in comparison to last week contact them.
I can't comment about your particular issue, because I haven't used that feature to view canceled check images in the last few years.
The change that I noticed was that the Username / Password on the Login page now has '''''autocomplete=off''''' which is a good change, IMO. Also, I had to change my online password (some were lost during the transition they told me). I was able to get Firefox to save the new password (using the popular bookmarklet), but it won't autofill properly not matter what I try - at least the User ID does.

Cannot cancel iTunes U download.

I wanted to download some iTunes U podcasts / videos on gardening. There is a series called the Backyard Gardener, I believe, from the U of Nebraska that has something like 200 segments.
When I try to download a segment, iTunes attempts to download all of them as the entry in the download tab lists a high MB count and a time of 8 hours when a segment is only a one hour piece. After several tries, I gave up on it, canceled the download and deleted the entry from the download list. Now, periodically, when I start iTunes, it starts downloading the same massive file again. Since I am on a satellite link and limited to 200MB/day, this can be a problem if I do not catch it.
The question is, how do I stop it permanently?
Also, the individual entries in the listing have the word "clean" in a rectangle next to them. I have not been able to find any definition of what this means. Any ideas?

Okay then...
So apologies everyone, I just realised a few moments ago that the solution I gave up there (switching off "subscription") does not work.
My iTunes U has kept on downloading, & is now up to a whopping 10 GB, from about 1.5 before I went in clicking on items in there...
However, something even scarier has begun happening - rather than STOP after the iPad ran out of space - I had about 3 GB when the ******** app began downloading, what iTunes U along with iOS have begun doing is systematically ERASE CONTENT to create space - WITHOUT ANY SORT OF WARNING/NOTIFICATION OR REQUEST FOR PERMISSION - from other apps on the device - my Last.fm artist image downloads went first (about 1.2 GB), then ALL the movies from my Movie Player App (about 5 GB), and now I see it closing down the space little by little as long as a connection is on - we're now on 700 MB, and my guess is that either one of my games, or iBooks are gonna be next... believe me I'm not lying, this is actually happening.
Honestly, Apple, having it DELETE MY STUFF WITHOUT NOTIFYING ME???
Unreal.
I can't delete the app because I need the content being downloaded, deleting it means starting again from scratch which I can't do because I'm on a metred connection, and have already gone waaaay over my quota since this nonsense began...

Column View won't display some images downloaded by browser

I have used the "Preview" in Column View to display images for some time and some images downloaded to folders will never display. The wheel just spins in the display area and CMD-i doesn't display the image either. If I open the image in the Preview application it displays! There is no detectable difference in the files that do and don't display in Col. View. I can get any image to show up by opening a graphic application and doing a "Save As" to reprocess the image and replace the balky one. But, this is not right that I should have to do this. I cannot determine whether a downloded image is going to have a problem or not as some from the same websites are OK sometimes and some are not. I had the problem with OS 10.2.8 too. Changing from iCab to Safari does not help.

ACK!!!! Cancel all that because it happens using Firefox too. I have NO IDEA what in the world is happening to my system that would cause web pages to load incompletely.

Too Many Concurrent AP Image Downloads

I have a new 5508 controller running 7.0.235.3 code in a lab setting, so currently there are no APs associated to it. I am trying to get a 3502 AP to join this controller. I configured the AP with the controller IP address and put it on the same subnet as the controller. The AP will boot, then gets to the point where is is trying to translate capwap-cisco-controller.domain. It seems to time out, then go through the whole process again. I checked the AP join statistics on the controller and it sees the AP try to join, but fails with the 'Too Many Concurrent AP Image Downloads' message. Since this is the only AP attempting to make a connection, I know this message is errant.
Any issues anyone is aware of or possibly a setting I overlooked?

So this error can be a little misleading. Is the license or eval license activated and in use to allow APs to join? If your number of supported APs is 0 often times I see this error. You can verify this by going into the Monitor section in the Web GUI and it will tell you how many Access Points are supported above the controller picture

1. If you just want to run one application, control-click it and choose Open instead of changing the setting. This only needs to be done once per application.

How do I disable automatic image downloads if there is no option to turn that function on/off in Options/Control???

I want to turn off the automatic image download function, and DO NOT have that option on the Option/Content tab. I have looked everywhere I can think of for an option to stop web pages from downloading a ton of stuff I don't want to see, and I cannot find a way to do it anywhere. I am VERY frustrated at this point, because all the help info I found online from other sources say to uncheck the Automatic Image Download box on the Content Tab in the Options dialog box.
That option isn't there... The only things available on that tab are "Block Pop-ups," "Fonts & Colors," and "Language." That's it. I have automatic updates enabled for Firefox, and it is up to date.
Please help me solve this very annoying problem. Thank you.

You may be having a problem with some extension or plugin that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?

The projector may actually be processing a 3 digit number in numerical sequence. Have you tried your export/collection in order sequence starting with 101? Assuming you have fewer than 899 images you should be OK. (I had to fiddle with export sequence for a display frame which used the file date and time for sequence!)

If you notice in area in iTunes on left hand side where all the fancy icons are, Look down this list you will see an area called Downloads if something is downloading. Click it so it is Blue
Then right click on the Podcast downloading and choose one of the 3 options based on what you want.

Trying to perform a code upgrade on our WLC but receive this error -

I don't see any of the AP's in the download state either viewing through the GUI or CLI.
Has anyone run into this before ? Any suggestions ?

Issue has been reported on some 7.4 and 7.6 codes where the controller will prevent rebooting
thinking one (some) of the AP's is in downloading state even when there are no AP's that show stuck in this process.
To fix this, I had to do a forced reboot on the controller using the command “reset system forced”.
Our controllers are in HA mode so I than forced a fail-over back to the primary.
Once completed I was able to upgrade the controllers.

Too many concurrent AP image downloads, AP will not Join

peeps,
wonder if any of you have seen this before, trying to join an 1142 on a WLC_SRE version 7.4.
the AP can ping the controller and vice versa. In the controllers GUI: Monitor>Statisticc>AP join, I can find the mac of the AP that I am trying to get joined.
the details of this mac show:

Trying to join 1142N LAPs.    when getting the boot up process on the LAP, it endlessly loops in finding a valid WLC, although I have primed them to go to 192.168.7.1.
The WLC log shows:
