5530 XPressMusic - Alarm Snooze & Call Answer/Reje...

Hi,
I just bought 5530 Xpressmusic yesterday and new to smartphones/touchscreens. I have a question.
Whenever the phone touch screen is locked, and if i get a call, i am not able to answer or reject it directly from touch screen, unless i manually unlock the screen using right side lever. Although i can see the Answer/Reject option in screen, when i touch them they don't work. Also the Green/Red options at bottom of touch screen are also not working.
Similarly, when i set an alarm, i cannot snooze or stop the alarm immediately in touch screen when the alarm rings, unless i unlock the touch screen again manually.
Can someone help how to get this working, or is it the design?

Hi, this is my first post.
I have a 5530 xpressmusic. According to the manual,when the keyguard has been applied it can be unlocked either by sliding the keyguard lock switch on the right hand side of the phone, or by briefly pressing the on/off switch then swiping the screen. I can't get this second method to work. I've installed the latest version of the firmware.
Scouring these forums and the internet I can find no reference to anyone else having this problem. Is it just my phone? Using the keyguard switch all the time is a bit of a bind; and I worry how robust it will be in the long term.

Hey jimmyireland, I've had major problems with the swiping ever since getting my phone in October 2009. At least 4 times out of 10 when I swipe to answer, the phone answers fine, then when I come to end the call I can't. The phone totally locks up, no keys work. The only cure is to switch it off and on. Not much fun ! I called the helpdesk last week and they said this is a 'known fault' and if you upgrade to the new software version (11.0.54) then it should be fixed, I have this now, and will let you know if it helps or not.

1. auto keyguard lock?
There isn't anything like you get on the old phones. The nearest thing is to go into the security settings and set the Autolock period to something like 1 minute.
Alternatively, there are 3rd party apps around that replicate the functionality from the old phones - a quick search of this board will give you names (I forget what they are).
2. alarm snooze time setting?
Again, there's nothing you can do about this apart from buy a 3rd party app like "Time Machine" (US$5) which has all that sort of thing, plus timers etc.
3. Font size change?
I think I saw a post about a 3rd party product that did something about this last week - try a search of this forum.
4. schedule reminder?
Just set an alarm on the meeting or to-do item - I don't think the option is available on the other calendar entry types.
5. Is there a way to view contact list with name and number?

5530 xpressmusic wifi problem

Hi, I just got a 5530 xpressmusic from my dad and i connected the wifi. The phone has a connection to the network but it says "Browser unable to connect to the website". The connection manager shows that 0 bits recieved, but laptop works fine...Please help and thanks!!

Hi intykid,
Have you tried reseting your router by turning off the power for 30 secs and then turn it back on. Now try connecting with you device and let us know if that works out for you.
If problems still persist, perform a soft reset on your phone by entering *#7780# in your phone's keypad and when prompted for a passcode, by default it is 12345.

Update FW in 5530 XpressMusic (RM-504)

In Nokia Software Updater updating is accessible to model 5530 XpressMusic (RM-504) Product code 0589308 20.0.080. For Product code 0589309 only 11.0.054. They differ only colour. Prompt, when there will be an updating of an insertion for 0589309

When I type *#0000# and download the new versions the phone find a new fw version, after that I download it, and try to install....what is stopped because isn't compatible with my device.
Take it to a Nokia care centre as its possible you do not have the correct product code .
What is your product code .

I have any big problem with alarm snooze function in my new NOKIA X3 02 mobile.
Please read this situation:
On my old mobile Nokia Classic: I sleep, sleep. Is 5:30, alarm ring, ring. Whith
closed my eyes i touch to one big buttons on my locked mobile. Alarm paused,
and after 10 minutes ring, ring, ring. Is super, i do not oversleep.
In my NEW !!! Nokia X3 02: I sleep. Alarm ring. Whith closed my eyes touch to
display or any key. ALARM TOTAL OFF and i oversleep to my work. For snooze alarm
to 10 minutes i must open eyes, touch to one small button, write unlock key, send
unlock key and set snooze alarm on left corner my display. Oh my god !!!! This is
NEW mobile with NEW operation system for users ???? Please modify this function.
I must use my old NOKIA for this problem. X3 02 is fine mobile for users standard
mobile. This function is very bad and total degradate this mobile for me.
Please add users option for snooze touch to display or any keys to new firmware.

I've had the same problem ,and the only remedy (for me ) is to always set the date On 02/05/2011 and then set up the alarm on Am/pm setup
Only then the alarm works ,even on the next day i.e. 03/05/2011 the alarm doesn't work and show me message like "168 hours remaining" ,you always need to set it up to 02/05/2011 (Well i don't exactly know if that date will work for you ...but surely the soluution is to set it the a date it will work ...try many dates

Nokia 5530 - turns off during calling

Hi!
I have a problem with my nokia 5530. If somebody calls me after i pick up a call, phone is turnig off. Same situation when im making a call. Only puting a phone in loudspeaker mode (or with headset) is solving that problem. I've tried a hard reset, updating, etc.
Please help I dont want to be sad on christmas.

You're not alone - it seems there are quite a lot of 5530s with such a problem.

I have the same problem - even went to repair center. They said it was some loose part/connector and it looked that phone was fixed - I was able to make/receive calls with it - for a day. Then the problem reappeared and tomorrow I'll go again to complain. I hoped it was some firmware issue - but it seems I got a malfunctioning unit - so I hope they'll replace it.
Therefore I advise you to send yours to repair.

Bug in LP: smart call/answering machine 1.28

Bug in smart call/ answering machine in Lp 1.28
Smart call have 2 bugs and one suggestion.
1. Sometimes smart call isnt work. After restart phone its works again. I test in some devices and all of them have this bug.
2. While talking phone if someone is waiting on another call, after seprate phone from ear and see who is on another call. So after bring device to ear call accepted and old call end. This is so annoying.
3. Seprate smart call options. I dont want answer my phone with bring device to ear but i need to reject and mute mode.. Plz
And about answering machine.
In lollipop answering machine have some problems.. For example sometimes i am taking with phone and answering machine starts automatically and call ended. Or sometimes calls dont go to answering machine.

IPhone 4S and iPad 3 (retina) - call answering works in iOS8

Just a quick heads up that I'm happy to report that iPad call answering works on my iPhone 4S together with my iPad Retina (3rd generation) over WIFi using iOS8.
This seems to be contradictory to the information presented on the Apple Continuity page.
Continuity features are available on iPhone 5 or later, iPad (4th generation), iPad Air, iPad mini, iPad mini with Retina display, and iPod touch (5th generation).
To activate go to Settings --> Facetime, toggle Facetime ON and sign out and sign back into Facetime on both devices using the same Apple ID.
On the iPhone set "iPhone Mobile Calls" to ON
On the iPad set "iPhone Cellular Calls" to ON
Obviously make sure WIFi is activated on both devices.
Calling using WIFi using the Instant Hotspot feature is not available on these devices.

Do SMS text messages also transfer from iPhone 4S to iPad via iMessage? Thanks!

I know this is possible with some Android phones because it makes it easier to answer a call with the press of a single button (in tha case of Samsung phones, pressing the physical Home key will answer a call) but it also makes it more likely to accidentally answer a call when you are retrieving the phone from a pocket.
However, it's always nice to have a choice so you can vote for this feature over on the MS feature suggestion site by following the link below.

Unfortunately this is not possible. There's no settings to change regarding this in the phone. If you would like to answer a incoming call on a hardware key you will have to use a hands free (and press the answer key on the hands free).

End call Answer in verizon

My friends and I are iphone 4S users throgh Verizon. None of us is able to get "End Call + Answer" (AT&T users are getting this with Red background as 3rd and last option) button when we receive another call while talking on one call. We are just getting "End Call" (in red background). First 2 options in the scenario of getting another call are same on AT&T and Verizon users' iphones.
As effect of lack of this option, we cannot end our current call and accept another. We have to take second and keep swiping between two calls, if we do not want to redial. Also, we cannot end either of call, it has to be end of both calls!!
When I went with this issue at several Verizon service centers, they were surprised with the problem, but had no other answer other than to contact apple.

Is this an one-off occurrence ?
This is quite complicated to troubleshoot and would probably require traces to get into the details.
But yes under certain scenarios this can happen.
Here is one potential scenario that might have happened.
Call comes in from PSTN to the gateway
The gateway sends an admission request to the gatekeeper
The gatekeeper returns the CVP server 1
The gateway extends the call to the CVP server 1
For some reason CVP server 1 does not reply immediately (network delay) so the gateway thinks it is unreachable
The gateway request another CVP server from the gatekeeper
The gatekeeper returns CVP server 2
At that time CVP server 1 sends a reply to the gateway
We might end up having the same call landed on two agents.
However the above is just a scenario and it might not apply in your case. Detailed call flow analysis, version of all the systems involved and detailed tracing from all the components are required to be sure

I've always used predictive txt on my phones. I'm finding on this phone the words that are appearing are so far off the track it's not funny. .....I...always shows as G......i loaded yas once now all the time it comes up instead of was....Not....now appears as ont......i have no idea why and there are a lot lot more. Is there a way.....1...delete individual words for good......2......delete everything and go back to the start again....if so ....how....and does this affect anything else.?? I'm presuming if i do a backup in Ovi then i could reload???? hhheeelllpppp....it's driving me nuts as well as my friends that have no idea what i'm on about...hehehe....

you can try a "Hard reset"; remember to do backup before that..
Switch off the phone, Hold down the following three buttons: Green (the call answer button), * button, and '3' button.
While holding these buttons, press the power button and switch on the phone.
Release when the phone shows the nokia logo or shows other signs of life like the language selction screen.
