5600xt Td256

I can only manage to squeak out on average 35-40 fps playing raven shield.  I was wondering how I can max out my fps so the game runs smoother?
1.6ghz AMD AthlonXP
512mb ddr memory
Asus A7N8X motherboard
40gb harddrive

UXB8008,
The 5600xt is a low end hard, do not expect much out of it. Even a Geforce4 Ti4200 will run circles around the 5600xt.

  • 5700-td256

Hello I purchased an MSI FX5700-TD256 from my local supplier about 3 days ago and I've built it into a computer that I'm working on for a customer. Thing is when I benchmark it, everything is fine as for playing a simple game like CounterStrike the textures occasionally flicker black when moving about.
I'm wondering what can I do to help this.

    -Motherboard: Biostar M7NCD Ver. 3.0
    -Bios: Award BIOS v6.00PG ? NCD1210 BS ? (nVidia-nForce-6A61BB01C-00) ?
    -CPU: AMD Sempron 2800+
    -Memory: Kingston KVR333X64C25/512   x 2
    -Video Card: MSI FX5700-TD256 (TV-Out DVI-I, D.O.T)

    -Optical Drives: MSI DVD-Rom Drive (MS-8216) | MSI DVD Writer 8x (DR8-A2)
-OS: Windows XP Home Edition (Service Pack 2)
I'm posting this and then going to try removing extra devices but I'm positive it shall make not difference as I've already tried it in another machine with a 450W PSU.
Edit: Removed all but DVD-Rom and HDD and it still didn't go right. I'm actually a computer engineer but I only really do non-graphics heavy PC's so I was wondering if anyone could enlighten me.
    - Thanks, Chris.

    Chris,
Not sure why it is flickerin black. Kingston RAM on nForce is hit or miss at best. There is a good chance you have a RAM issue.
I would try stripping it down to bare bones with 1 HD and 1 Optical Drive to see if you can still can duplicate the problem. If you do, try a different game just to be sure.
Make sure you have the latest  nVidia nForce & ForceWare Drivers
    Take Care,
    Richard
P.S. If that does not work go into the BIOS and disable Fast Writes and set AGP to 4X.

  • NX6800GT TD256 problems

hello. I purchase/bought a MSI NX6800GT TD256 and I noticed that this VGA card was made with production problems, and my 6800GT is with this problems... unfortunatelly (blue dots and my computer never initializate) - my power supply is a seventeam 400w and i was tested my card in 3 computers (same problems)
I entered in several forum and all say the same thing, MSI manufactured a wrong VGA card model during some time, with the cooler BBN (of plastic) and later modified the model placing a cooler called Cooper Ultra.
In the image, my model is the first picture and the correct model is the second.
but in the second image, besides in the site of MSI, it shows up the correct model, that is different from mine.
How should I proceed to change the model?
    Thank you

It seems that since the introduction of the PCI-e version of the 6800 series... they have also started using the black-reference cooler...
Take a look at the photo of the NU pci-e in the photo...

  • MSI FX5600 TD256 Problems

Hi all. This is my first time on these boards and must say the info i have got from it is outstanding. Keep it up.
    I need some help.... I use an MSI KT4 Ultra via KT400 chipset based M/B with an AMD XP2600+. 1024MB 2700 ram. MSI FX5600 TD256mb G/C. 120gb H/D. Thermaltake power supply 480w. Water cooled.
My problem is that the PC starts up and runs ok for a while but all of a sudden the monitor goes blank. The CPU fan still runs but all else fails. ie, case fans, CD drives, etc.
The only way i can get it to work again is by removing the G/C and reinserting again. It makes no difference if i just turn off all power to the PC. This again works fine for a while and then it happens again?
Can anyone tell me if this is a common problem or what it could be. I have seen others mention the power supplies but mine is not the cheap type and surely 480w is ample?
I am sorry if something here is not listed. Let me know if any other info is required and i will post.
I forgot to say. I have put in an old G2 G/c from my old system for now and have not had a problem so i can assume it is something to do with the G/C?
I do not know if i need new drivers or BIOS? I can never get into the MSI live update for this. Does anyone know how to get them and especially for the BIOS, how do you instal them (in detail, I do not want to dammage anything).
    Thanks in advance
    MSI KT4 Ultra-FISR (MS6590). MSI FX5600 TD256 256mb. AMD XP2600+. 1024mb 2700 ram, (2x 512). 120gb maxor h/d. Thermaltake Xaser11 case + 480w p/s. Water cooled. Win XP pro

Hi there. Since you are talking about flashing BIOS's, may I ask a question? (OK, another one.  )
I was looking through some of my old downloads on my hard drive and in my MSI folder, I came across an upgraded BIOS for my MSI Ti4200-VTD64 (MS-8870). The file is GF4Ti4200_4.25.00.37_250_500.rom, but I did not have an installer for it. I searched the MSI web site, but I didn't even see this file. I wouldn't have put it in that folder unless it came from MSI, so my question is, does anyone know how to install it, or where I can get an installer for it?
    Thanks
(...and yes I'm familiar with the possible perils of flashing  )

  • Does the NX7600GS-TD256 require a molex connector?

There is no reference in my documentation about needing to connect a separate power connector to my newly acquired NX7600GS-TD256, though the card does appear to have a power connector there. Looking around the net I'm finding conflicting reports... some sites say it needs a molex, others don't mention it.
The card appears to run perfectly without it mind you, but I'm curious if I'm supposed to be plugging something in there.
    Thanks for any help.

So taking a spare plug from my power supply, if I have one that is, and sticking it into the power socket on the video card would be wise? Even though it's seemingly working fine without it?
yes plug it mate.    its strongly recommended, to ensure VGA stability and property working.
"Even though it's seemingly working fine without it?"
well under heavy VGA load (hard 3d gaming) artifacts may comes, reboots, BSOD may comes also when VGA is starting to drain power and don't have it enough. also there is a possibility mobo to take damage when starting to drain too much power via AGP slot instead from alternative.(VGA power connector).
find a free power connector from to PSU and connect it to the VGA directly.

  • N6800GT - TD256 Crash Problem

Hey guys, just been having a look around the forums and i was wondering if you would be able to help me with a problem that i have.
I recently have built my computer from scratch and and it keeps randomly crashing on me.
When the computer reboots I get the "send a crappy message to microtards" panel and send an error report to microsoft.
I usually get back to web page that an error has been caused by a device driver or that a thread has been stuck in the device driver.
the respective error codes that i get from the BSOD are STOP 0x0000007F or STOP 0x000000EA.
This happens no matter what device drivers I am using. Any help would be appreciated.
    My system specs are below
    AMD 64 3200
MSI K8N Neo Platnium NForce 3
    MSI Geforce 6800GT TD256
    Thermaltake PurePower 480W
    512 MB Geil Value RAM
    120Gb Seagate Barracuda HDD
    Windows XP Pro SP2

    here you go
by the way i was wondering what type of 3dMark01 and 05 scores should i really be getting for this card, because fer me my 3dMark05 score is about 5000 and 01 is 16000.
is this right or is that very wrong because i think that those are pretty low.

  • Clock speeds FX 5600-TD256

    Hi,
i have a MSI fx 5600-TD256, and the standard clocks are 250/400
i checked tomshardware and it says that the standard speeds are 325/550
i tried to overclocked it but i can't get higher then 325/442
    is this normal?

I think 325/550 is right, but the FX cards have a 2D frequency and 3D frequency. How did you measure the speed ?
The FX5900 for example has a 2D speed of 300/850 and 3D speed of 400/850.
You can get a little program called coolbits from http://www.guru3d.com and install it ( it's just a registry key ), then go to the driver settings and you will see a new frequencies tab.

  • RX800 Pro TD256

I bought an RX800 Pro TD256 and am having real issues with it. When I install it into the machine (after removing my old GEForce 4 Ti4600) the monitor shows the original boot screen (with the Dell logo), but goes blank before the Windows logo appears. I took it back and replaced it but the replacement is having the same problem. It's really frustrating. Any advice would be much appreciated...
My system is a 2.4 gb pentium 4, 512 mb RAM, 120gb HDD.

I drivers more. Put back your Ti4200 into the system and boot into windows. Once inside Windows, do the following:
    Control Panel> System> Hardware> Device Manager> Display Adapter> GeForce 4 Ti4200> Highlight and Right Click(Warning! Do not direct un-install from here!)> Properties> Driver Tab> Un-install> Shutdown system> Put in your ATI RX800> Bootup> Install ATI catalyst.

  • [GeForce 6] Query abt compatibility (NX6800GT-TD256 )

    Hi,
I wanted to go for NX6800GT-TD256 (or  NX6800 Ultra-T2D256)  but the problem is that my mobo ( which is Gigabyte 7VKMP)
supports AGP 4x only and I don't want to upgrade my mobo currently, so I wanted to ask will this MSI card work on my mobo ( as I know its AGP 8x)
     Pls help.

I posted this query in another public forum, and somebody told me that he also tried to use 8x card(didn't specified name)  in 4x slot but it didn't worked. He told me to refer to motherboard manual and the card docs which I m going for... told me to check for some voltage issues .

  • FX5500 -TD256 instalation problems

After the fan on my FX5200 giving up the ghost, I bought a MSI FX5500-TD256, once the card was installed I reinstalled the NVIDIA 71.84 drivers that I was using previously.
at the end of the instalation process the error 'the parameter is incorrect' is displayed (gee thanks for the precise error message Bill). Since then I have spent 2 evenings removing and installing all versions of NVIDIA and MSI drivers that I can get my hands on, using driver cleaner to ensure complete removal each time.
I've searched the internet and all I can find problems that are solved with updating to new drivers, when I am using the up to date drivers
I have even re-installed my old card and that is coming up with the same error, so I guess that it is a driver problem, but I'm rapidly pulling my hair out over this one and I really don't want to clean instal my OS until I have explored every other possibility

Quote from: Kafkacell on 23-June-05, 17:34:43
Try installing first Via 4 in 1 driver pack, and later install the new drivers, and I will recommend to use the Nvidia drivers.
Thanks Kafkacell, I've now tried that and it still comes up with the same problem
Quote from: Kafkacell on 24-June-05, 00:45:35
Try nvidia drivers, you can choose from the  nvidia FTP: ftp://download.nvidia.com/Windows/
Thanks again Kafkacell, I have tried 45.23 through to 71.84 over the last couple of nights.
I was running nvidia 71.84 quite happily with my old card prior to the instalation of the new card, but my old card will not work with any drivers now, I am going bald with frustration with this now

  • MSI FX5500-TD256 fix possible?

Hello, I have a big prob with my agp card (MSI FX5500-TD256)...I use to have a PNY GeForce MX440 installed...and that worked great..but when I upgraded to the 5500...my Pc reboots on high graphic games (IE: Dungeon Seige2...Diablo2..even..Ultima Online).  I have Win XP Pro. (Not 64bit)...I do not have any service pack installed.  I have DirectX 9.0c....my PSU is 450Watts.  I have downloaded the newest MSI drivers (that didnt correct the prob).  I rolled back driver to the one that came with the 5500 card (7.7.7.2version)...I am totally stumped.  Plz..if anyone knows how to correct this graphic nightmare....I would really appreciate any help.  Thnxs much,
    Rubix.

Okies...I went to the ECS website and look for updates on my mobo.  They have issued a bios update..which is suppose to fix a known issue with my particular board and NVidia chipsets.  The update is suppose to be burnt to a floppy and read in dos upon restart.  My Pc hangs on posting saying "invalid system disk" until the floppy is removed.

  • GeForce FX5500 TD256 Low framerare

I just bought a FX5500 TD256 for Christmas as a big surprise I get the cheapest video card ever.   I'm getting lower framerate than with my GeForce 4 Ti4800 128.
What is the problem with this card and is there something I can do about it ?  Because right now I just think I've spent over 150$ CAN for a useless card that is going to sleep in a box.
I was getting around 30-40 FPS @ 1600x1200 in World of Warcraft, no Vsync.  Now I'm getting max 15 FPS with the same config!
    Plz help me.

    Rmn,
Run Driver Cleaner followed by installing the latest Mobo Drivers and the latest nVidia ForceWare Drivers
I would also think about upgrading your Vid Card, since it is going to have a hard time running current game titles. It just does not have the horsepower to do so.
    Take Care,
    Richard
i made driver cleaner and installed last drivers and when i check my directx diagnostics it says no directdraw acc. no direct3d acc. and no agp texture acc. and it's not normal i think.

  • 5600xt-td128

Hi there. I've bought on January 2004 a MSI GeForce FX 5600XT-TD128 to replace, for a few days, a Creative GeForce 4 Ti 4400 that went in for RMA. What happens is that the new card came in the next day, so I put the MSI again in the box and left it there until today, when I needed the card (I am building a workstation).
To my surprise, the card has a memory width of only 64-bit, now I ask where that is stated!!! I can't see it on the card box, neither MSI's site, nor anything. I can see it's only 64-bit cause there are only 4 memory chips onboard. I also tested with some software that reported 64-bit ram bus. Who is going to refund me?

The PCB is green and it IS Retail! Comes with all the stuff, manual, DVI-VGA adapter, S-Video to Composite, case badge, and... that's it I think.
Let me clear one more thing: I am not a computer noob but I don't like saying that I know much about computers cause I am learning everyday, as everyone is... Noone knows too much. Back to the topic,
    my point is:
    - MSI did not advertise that this card is a 64-bit RAM interface, so, and as it was retail, I didn't really thought it was a bottleneck.
    - Also, I know if a card is 64, 128 or 256-bit RAM interface only by looking into the card itself. Again, as it was retail I didn't see it. I did see it when I opened the box, but never imagined it was a 64-bit, so I wasn't aware that it could be one.
    - On MSI's site, the image of the 5600XT-TD128 PCB is RED and is running on 128-bit Ram Interface. U can clearly see that by the amout of Ram chips.
    - My final point of view: MSI should have labeled this card as a cut down version of the FX 5600XT... Anyone can fall into this. I felt on a area (graphics cards) where I, not excel, but know pretty well
