Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems
See Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins"
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)

• Why does the default theme for firefox 4 only work with add-ons such as personas? It will allow me to preview an alternative theme with a persona but won't let me apply it without switching to the default. No option for disabled and visually impaired.

Firefox 4 will no longer allow me to use a theme (other than the default) with a Persona. When I "try on" a skin, FF4 allows me to preview the theme with the persona but will not allow me to apply the persona without automatically switching my chosen theme (disorganizing my menu's, bookmarks, and tool-bars) back to the default. Firefox 4 also begins to load an all-default setting browser when it is first opened slowing my browsing start up. All issues were not experienced before the Mozilla Firefox 4.0 upgrade.

Hi David,
Thank you for your detailed question. It sounds like the real issue is pdf files. Are there any antivirus/firewalls that might be blocking this specific file type? or are there any preferences in your control panel that might be blocking this?
Do you have any stored preferences for PDF files in Firefox?

• Please quit breaking Firefox 3 Theme for Firefox 4+ Reloaded every time you up-version FF... I *hate* the bland theme that is now your default.

I'm sick of every update to Firefox breaking the "Firefox 3 Theme for Firefox 4+" add-on, and now the "Firefox 3 Theme for Firefox 4+ Reloaded" add-on. I hate the new boring, monochrome theme that was introduced years ago, and have always replaced it with the more usable and colorful theme from FF3, but virtually every time you up-version FF, it breaks the theme. I'm obviously not alone in this opinion, or no one would have bothered to create and attempt to maintain these themes over the years.
Can you please either re-incorporate this theme as an officially supported option into the core product, or just quit breaking the add-ons that people have graciously created for those of us who like the older look and feel. I have not bothered to update to FF26 or 27 because of this, and am sick of having to hack xpi files to fake out the supported version range every time your release number increments break some theme or add-on that I rely on.
Thanks!

I agree, Mozilla needs to stop messing up the themes. Let the programmers install the Fire 3 Theme for those of us that want it.
And they can leave their insane default theme for those idiots that like
a bland, colorless look. But give the users a choice and don't try to tell me or anyone else that you can not do it or that it has to be "their way" .. That is a sure way to alienate people from your product. It obviously can be fixed without compromising the so called better security of the new Firefox.

• Themes for Standalone WebDynPro

Hello All,
If I use the Theme Editor for editing default themes for WebDynPro application that I am developing, then, does the new Themes showup on my standalone WebDynPro application? ( I mean, its not deployed as a portal component on EP, rather its just run on WebAS by saying "Deploy and Run")
Thanks,
Kiran

Hi Kiran,
Develop this theme and then you need to copy that theme inside the folder, <Drive>:usr\sap\<system id>\JC<instance num>\j2ee\cluster\server0\temp\webdynpro\web\sap.com\tcwddispwda\global\SSR\themes
Then, in webdynpro url, append following to set your theme to that webdynpro application.
sap-cssurl=http://<Server IP>:<port>/webdynpro/resources/sap.com/tcwddispwda/global/SSR/themes/<theme name>

• SAPGUI - is it possible to change the default Theme?

Hello,
Currently, the default is the "Enjoy" theme with the "Complementary" colour setting.
Is it possible to change either of these defaults? We have to change the default theme for all users without them having to change it themselves.
We are using SAPGUI 640 patch 13.
Many thanks
Gonzalo.
Realtech AG Consultant.

Assuming we are talking about Windows, the color settings are maintained in the registry.  The defaults are listed under:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SAP\General\Appearance]
"SapCreateKey"=dword:00000000
"HuePaletteBuffer"="9b9a8ffcfcedf4f3e3eae9d7e0dfd0d8d6c7cecdc0cbcbbdc1c0b2b7b6a8adac9fa09f958e8e847f7e7572726a6867605b5a544f4f493f3f3b65808e839daa8da8b795b1c1"
<b>"Theme"="Enjoy"</b>
"OldName"="Default"
"NewName"="Enjoy"
"SplashOff"=dword:00000001
"Animation"="Off"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SAP\General\Appearance\Themes]
"SapCreateKey"=dword:00000000
<b>"SystemDefault"="Enjoy"</b>
If you wanted to change the color settings that the user is actually seeing, you would need to edit the Current User:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SAP\General\Appearance]
"SapCreateKey"=dword:00000000
"HuePaletteBuffer"="9b9a8ffcfcedf4f3e3eae9d7e0dfd0d8d6c7cecdc0cbcbbdc1c0b2b7b6a8adac9fa09f958e8e847f7e7572726a6867605b5a544f4f493f3f3b65808e839daa8da8b795b1c1"
<b>"Theme"="Tradeshow"</b>
"SplashOff"=dword:00000000
"OldName"="Default"
"NewName"="Enjoy"
"Animation"="On"
"Sound"="On"
"Scaling"="100"
These could be changed via logon script or other PC management tools like SMS.  The defaults can be changed in the SAP GUI install using scripting support so that you wouldn't have to continually change them.

• Default theme incompatible with latest firefox version

I had a Firefox 29 installation on one of my laptops and I copied the profile folder to backup to a different laptop. The other laptop though had Firefox 12 on it so I just updated it, and although my newer add-ons from the backup are now compatible, I can't use the default theme. Instead it has this very basic theme that isn't the default. If I look in the appearance tab it says "Default is incompatible with Firefox 30.0." The theme is labeled "Default 29.0.1". How can I get it to install the default theme for the current version? Thanks.

You can try to delete the compatibility.ini file and check for issues with the files that stores the prefs.
Delete a possible user.js file and numbered prefs-##.js files and rename (or delete) the prefs.js file to reset all prefs to the default value including prefs set via user.js and prefs that are no longer supported in the current Firefox release.
*http://kb.mozillazine.org/Preferences_not_saved
*http://kb.mozillazine.org/Resetting_preferences
Do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program before (re)installing a fresh copy of the current Firefox release.
*Download the full Firefox installer and save the file to the desktop<br>http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
If possible uninstall your current Firefox version to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.
*Do NOT remove "personal data" when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because this will remove all profile folders and you lose personal data like bookmarks and passwords including data in profiles created by other Firefox versions.
Remove the Firefox program before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
*(32 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
*(64 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\"
*It is important to delete the Firefox program to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
*http://kb.mozillazine.org/Uninstalling_Firefox
Your bookmarks and other personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure that "remove personal data" is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.

• Change default template for a given Theme

Can we change the default template for a theme ? (if yes, how). I had selected theme 3 (business) during the creation of my application with 2 level tabs. After creating parent tabs and standard tabs and getting it working I changed the theme to theme 12 (blue). When the theme got switched, the default application page template became a 1 level tab.
This was because for Theme 12, the default Page template is 1 level tab. I want to change this default Page template to 2 level tabs. I couldn't see option of making this as a default.

Sorry, I found the answer in the documentation in Chapter 7 under
"Changing Default Templates in a Theme".

• Looking for a theme that looks like the default theme.

I'm looking for a theme that looks exactly like the default theme, but that doesn't use the colours of my gnome theme. Right now I'm using a dark gnome theme that looks great, but looks horrible with firefox. Anybody got any suggestions?
Alternatively, is there another way to make firefox ignore my gtk theme?

I don't like the way firefox themes look, I want the default theme, but without gtk coloring. Surely it must be possible?

• My Firefox menus and tabs and text are all warped and slightly out of focus for lack of a better term. What kind of issue is this. I only have the default theme/persona Strata installed. It's quite annoying.

My tabs and text seem slightly corrupted. There's an apparent curviture to the corners and the tops bow. The text is affected but the font's don't appear to have been edited to different fonts. It looks like some photoshop corruption effect to be honest, but this just happens to firefox everytime I use it now. It comes up normal for a second then 'fades' into this corrupt looking version.

Start Firefox in <u>Safe Mode</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
* https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode
In Firefox 4 Safe mode disables extensions and disables hardware acceleration.<br />
If disabling hardware acceleration works then check if there is an update available for your graphics display driver.
* Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
In Firefox 4 you can use one of these to start in <u>Safe mode</u>:
* Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
* Hold down the Shift key while double clicking the Firefox desktop shortcut (Windows)

• Change default app for .dvdmedia files (Finder now treats them as folders)

I need to change .dvdmedia files to open up with an app and not to show up in Finder as a folder as it currently does. How do I do that?
There isn't anymore the usual drop-down menu for Open with... in Get Info dialog window since Finder now treats .dvdmedia files as folders. This happened when I was trying to change the default app for them to something else but the "Open with" section kept showing Finder and when I actually selected the Finder once it started to treat these files as folders. Now I don't know how to get back.
Thanks!

This tip further down the other discussion worked (the 2. part of it): https://discussions.apple.com/message/17531236#17531236
I'm still missing icons for three of my .dvdmedia files and I can only have DVD Player app be the default app but at least I got the files back to files instead of folders.

"1. Open TextEdit (or some text editor), create a small text file and save it.
2. Right-click on the text file, and choose "Get Info".
3. Under Name & Extension, change the extension to ".dvdmedia". Hit Enter to save this change.
4. Under Open With, the associated program should be showing VLC. Select DVD Player instead, and save that change.2

• Changing the default layout , theme for the default login page

Hi All,
I am new to the Portal development.
I would like to change the default themes , and layout of the portal login page,
How to do it. Required to Add or display  some News or FAQ's to the  unauthenticated users before login itself.Can any body tell me , what is the procedure, How to implement these above functionality
Regards
Vijay

Hi,
Now that the anonymous access solution has been provided, you may like to refer to these links for changing the logon screen and the themes.
Talking about the login page, it depends on what kind of customization do you want to do.
1) Do you want to change it entirely ?
2) Or you want to keep the same layout but change the images ?
Incase you wan to change it entirely, then refer to this weblog : Modifying The Logon Par(or customising the Logon Screen)
And incase you want to change just the images, then go to System Administration -> System Configuration -> UM Configuration -> Direct Editing and change the following paramaters:
ume.logon.branding_image
ume.logon.branding_text
To change the themes and applying them, refer to this document:
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/8d9d9c90-0201-0010-e9a4-ed82031e1908
Hope this helps.

• What is the default theme font for ea & cs?

Hi all;
This was not answered before. Is this specified now?
If the theme.xml file is as follows (which Word usually does):
<a:minorFont>
<a:latin typeface="Calibri"/>
<a:ea typeface=""/>
<a:cs typeface=""/>
What font is used for:
<w:rFonts w:asciiTheme="minorBidi" w:hAnsiTheme="minorBidi"/>
I'm seeing Arial for a test case and I have no idea where that's coming from.
??? - thanks - dave
What we did for the last 6 months -
Made the world's coolest reporting & docgen system even more amazing

Hello Dave,
I couldn't download your test case (404), but I made a similar one.
theme1.xml:
          <a:minorFont>
            <a:latin typeface="Calibri" panose="020F0502020204030204"/>
           <a:ea typeface=""/>
            <a:cs typeface=""/>
          </a:minorFont>
document.xml:
          <w:r>
            <w:rPr>
                <w:rFonts w:asciiTheme="minorBidi" w:hAnsiTheme="minorBidi" />
            </w:rPr>
            <w:t>test</w:t>
          </w:r>
This resulted in Times New Roman when I opened the document, which is in line with what I see in [MS-OI29500] §2.1.87/c:
[begin quote:
c. The standard states that the default fonts for the ascii, hAnsi, cs, and eastAsia attributes are application-defined.
Word uses a default font of Times New Roman for all of these attributes. --end quote]
I'm not sure why you're seeing Arial in your document. If you get that to me with a different link or via dochelp email, I'll be glad to investigate it further. EDIT: I was able to correct the link. I'll see if I can determine what's going on with the font
selection for this document.
