570 GTX Twin Frozr II OC - Ok to flash non OC bios?

Hi there,
For stability purposes, is it safe to flash the reference non overclock edition bios for these Twin Frozr II OCs?
I'm sick of having to use MSI Afterburner to slightly lower clocks and if I RMA the cards, they will just run benchmarks and Unigine... deem them fine and send them back.
The problems I have experienced are limited to certain DX11 games and lowering the clocks a bit seems to fix the issue.
I don't mind sacrificing 5 fps if it means stability. I've got SLI so it's not a big deal.

Deus Ex HR ...crashes
BF3 ...crashes
Skyrim ...crash to desktop without error
Lowering the clocks makes the system more stable and I don't want to use a softmod in Windows, rather not use Afterburner tbh.
Why I want to know if using the regular Twin Frozr II bios (non OC edition) would be ok.

  • 570 GTX Twin Frozr II OC - Stability issues with newest drivers

    Hi there,
Been noticing lately that i've come across a nasty 280.26 Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding issue with my 570 SLI.
Some people running the 280.26 drivers have also reported, while others have said increasing voltage has fixed their problem.
Could I get some support in finding out how/what to set my voltages too?
The cards are 570 GTX Twin Frozr II OCs. I did get a bios update earlier in the year after some problems, they were clocked at the wrong speed. (786mh instead of 750mhz)
GPU-Z shows im running bios 70.10.17.00.03
    Is there a newer one?
    Thanks

You say the voltage range is upto 1.25mv , but how can a game be unstable but not make use of the 1.25mV barrier? Who is responsible for using the extra voltage when required?
People state they are increasing their mV to make some DX 11 games stable, but how?
If what your telling me, is that the cards are already set to use an increased voltage, why aren't they doing so?
As you can see, under load.... the higher mV range isn't used so the overclocks on the cards are pointless. The more games which come out that use DX11, the more problems you will get.
If it's down to drivers, someone needs to get onto nVidia from a corporate or business level because they won't respond to the end user, they just blame you guys for everything.

To add to that, I have to set the voltage to 1.00mv in Afterburner and to get Deus Ex HR more stable with the 280.26 drivers.
So what gives? Is it safe to update the bios to 1.00mv somehow?
Why are these problems only getting found out with the 280.26 drivers?
Where does the customer stand here? There's a direct problem with power handling by all parties involved.

will msi release  570 gtx with the twin frozr II cooler if so when ?

They did with the 470 so no doubt will with the 570 too. For a release date you'll need to ask MSI: >>How to contact MSI<<.

  • 570 GTX Twin Frozr III strange noises

    Hi all, hope someone will know what's going on with my video card;
When I am on a game, it makes a strange buzzing noise
If i try using Kombustor, it makes a strange whirring noise
It seems to come from underneath the fan closest to the dvi ports
However, it doesn't appear to be coming directly from the fan itself, because when i'm not doing anything, I can change their speed, and they don't make any noise beyond their normal fan noise levels
Has anyone else experienced, or know what could be happening with my card?
Is it even safe to continue using?
    Thanks, J Green

As far as I can tell, it's coming from somewhere under the video card fan; someone has suggested it's the capacitors, and that if so it's safe to use, but i'm not so confident

  • GTX 570 OC Twin Frozr II Artifacts started appearing today?

    Hi.
So today, I was tweaking a config file for Rage as everyone knows that game has pathetic graphic options, and I noticed I started getting some weird visual artifacts. I know this game hasn't had the smoothest launch so I thought maybe it was only the game. Now all my games are doing it. I've just tested it League of Legends and Hard Reset and the same thing is happening. These games were working perfect yesterday (And all week).
I was running the new Nvidia 285.38 beta drivers, so I thought maybe it was a driver issue so I back-rolled to the 280.26 drivers and still the same thing. I know the latter driver is stable as I was using it fine before I upgraded to the beta drivers.
I've attached screenshots below on what I am experiencing.
    http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/542907315034022324/9CBD18E3FABD467364E7665BA44668585FC0C912/

    My system specs are:
    Windows 7 Ultimate
    i5 2500k @ stock
    Gigabyte P67A-UD4-B3 Motherboard
GTX 570 OC Twin Frozr II @ stock
    8GB DDR3 RAM
    Corsair Force GT 120GB SSD
Anyone have any ideas on what I can do? My system is stable, all drivers/bios/firmware etc are up to date. I don't OC anything. My GPU temp's are fine sitting on 36 degrees atm and usually 60ish in-game. The only thing I've done different recently was I left my computer on overnight to download today ( I rarely ever do this).
Oh and I have to mention, this is beyond frustrating. I just had my first Twin Frozr II replaced with this one on Tuesday because of a faulty fan, and now this one isn't looking too good either. I'm seriously not going to be happy if I have to wait 2 weeks again to replace this card, considering I don't have a spare card to use and my motherboard doesn't have onboard video which will render my PC unusable again for 2 weeks if this card is faulty (Possible FORCING me to buy another GPU to use in the mean time). I can't say I'm too impressed with MSI's quality control so far (Unless I just have some serious bad luck) and this might have turned me off their products for good.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

Yes, flashing to the latest VBIOS can improve VGA stability is you have stability issues.
You can read more about it at: https://forum-en.msi.com/faq/article/msi-nvidia-graphics-cards-from-570-580-series-read-here
What utility do I need to flash the VBIOS? And how do I even check what VBIOS I have? Maybe I have the latest version already.
    It says
"Users who download BIOS from here (not using Live Update) should use the flash utility included in the downloaded compressed file when doing the BIOS update. To avoid BIOS update failure, please do not use older versions of the update utility or utilities not provided by MSI."
But there is no utility included in NV225MS.222, just the actual NV225MS.222 file?
My computer was also doing some weird stuff last night. First I had my bios tell me that my system recovered from a boot failure due to overclock settings etc, which is strange because because I don't overclock. The symptoms I'm having (Artifacts in games) is the kind of thing you usually get from a bad overclock. I wonder if MSY replaced my GPU with a refurbished model or something?
Then it got stuck in an endless restart cycle (Which now makes me think my power supply is messing up or something). I left my computer off overnight and it seemed to boot up his morning. I've reset my bios to default settings, uninstalled the previous nvidia drivers, ran driver sweeper in safe mode and installed the latest MSY drivers and it seems to be running ok now. Though, I haven't checked to see if I get any artifacts yet with the MSY Nvidia 266.77 Driver. I'll report back and see if I do.

  • TRI SLI MSI 580 GTX Twin Frozr II

    Hello everyone,
Actually running 3 x GTX 570 MSI OC, with reference cooler and getting great temps under load.
Going to change the three of them with 3 MSI 580 GTX Twin Frozr II.
I've read bad experiences with this kind of cooler and SLI.
Is it a good a idea tu run TRI SLI with this type of cooler (Twin Frozr II) or should I look for three 580 with reference cooler??
Thanks for any answers or idead.
    My specs:
    - Corsair AX1200
    - Lian Li Pc-80
    - Gigabyte X58 UD7

Thanks for the reply. I watched that video but also watched this one:
He says the cards get up to 100ºC.
I know twin frozr works better than reference wit just one card, but with TRI SLI the cards being so closed and the cooler not sending the air out of the case (like the reference cooler does), maybe not the best solution.
Trying to confirm before I buy the three of them.

run an "cmd", then goto extracted folder then type:
    nvflash.exe -v [ENTER]
you will able to see it.
    Other way is get GPU-Z ==> http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/2018/TechPowerUp%20GPU-Z%20v0.5.4.html
    Then save the VBIOS
    Click on the icon:
Select "Save to file", and save the VBIOS to some location and remember it.
then upload it somewhere like http://www.mediafire.com/ and give the link to it

@SVet, I can do that if I get any issue. Just installed the card on a new machine and was thinking preventitive. I had heard that the N580GTX/OC had stabilitiy issues that required bios upgrades. Before I start crashing my machine, I was hoping to just go with a bios change that has worked for someone else.
It can't be used as each VGA is unique and require custom attention if issue occur.

  • MSI GTX Twin Frozr 780 Fan not spinning

    Hello ,
Ive had the GTX twin frozr 780 for 5 months now and every 10 to 20 cold start ups of the PC (sometimes more sometimes less) ,the left hand fan will fail to spin causing the other fan to spin at full speed. Rebooting the PC does not correct it, i have to take the side off the PC and gently tap the fan to get it spinning again, then put the side panel back on, i have put up with this for 5 months now and now had enough of it as it seems to be happening more often.
Please help as this little problem is now becoming very annoying.
When i purchased the msi 780 i got 2 off them to run in sli and the other 780 is fine and has no problems.
Ive been a good customer and have bought 4 top end msi graphics cards in the last few years and this is the only one that i've had a problem with.
When i try and rise a RMA with the place of purchase (DABS.COM) it say on there website that i have to return it back to the manufacturer , but when i try to use the msi website returns service its say that i have to return to the place of purchase ..... please could someone help as this is getting very frustrating now
    many thanks Jason

Just got off the phone with dabs.com  and there sending a courier in the morning to pick it up for R.M.A .
    Thanks for your help.
PS just out of interest have you heard of anyone other people with the same issue, as it is very intermittent and was a bit worried that they may not replace it if they can't replicate the fault.

  • MSI 580 GTX twin Frozr voltage / BIOS query

    Hi everyone
I was wondering what the default voltage is on the core these days for this card. I'm aware that there was a new BIOS a while back to increase it for "improved GPU stability".
I only ask as I've just had to return a Gigabyte 580 GTX OC that was not stable at the stock vid (IE. 1V). Was OK running 1.025v but I did not think / want to have to edit the BIOS myself to get it to run at stock speeds.
So... now thinking about buying the MSI 580 GTX twin Frozr but wondering what the stock GPU voltage is on cards being sold at the moment?
I've has an MSI 460 GTX HAWK for a while now and have been very happy with it (come to that... my mobo is an MSI one now as well). But don't want to have to go through a lot of heartache and wasted time again.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi
Just thought that I would just say "thank you" for your assistance / comments. It is appreciated.
I did in the end purchase the MSI 580 GTX OC Twin Frozr and all would appear to be fine (2 hours of looping 3Dmark11 should = fully stable I hope). I was just a bit windy having gone through the hassle of purchasing one make of card and having to return it.
The default voltage according to Afterburner is 1.038v, a fair bit higher than the Gigabyte card. I've also noticed that the default fan profile is a fair bit less aggressive than on the 460 HAWK, so don't feel that I need to set one up myself for the 580 (like I did for the 460 HAWK).
So all told pretty happy at the moment.
    Thanks again
test it more deeper, look here: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=148285.msg1102468#msg1102468

A normal CPU cooler should be not such large to enter and spread above the video card personal space....

I have tried to plug the card in another computer, but in that case the bios didnt even started and I have to unplug everything from the motherboard and replug it to reuse the computer again.
I would like to know if this is a known issue and if there is any way to repair the board at a reasonable price.

  • Geforce GTX 570 Twin Frozr III PE/OC and BSOD

    Hi,
I have an MSI Geforce GTX 570 Twin Frozr III PE/OC which appears to be causing system instability (graphical corruption upon boot i.e before windows), and BSOD. It typically occurs from a cold boot resulting in BSOD after the Windows logo. This will occur 2-3 times. The system then runs stably.
I have tracked this problem down to this card when running at x16 mode in my primary PCIe slot (slot 2, x16_1) on my motherboard. It does not occur if the card is in slot 5 (x16_2) where it only runs at x8 speed (2.5Gb/s rather than 5Gb/s). This does not occur if I place a borrowed Geforce GTX 260 in the primary PCIe slot (it runs at x16 fine and causes no such system instability).
I have tried out various mobo BIOS updates, checked all my system files, updated (and rolled back) my NVIDIA drivers, and checked my memory for errors with Memtest 86+. I cannot find any updates to my video card BIOS.
Can I assume the card is faulty, or does anyone have any other possible solutions?
    Spec is:
    Windows 7 64-bit
    Intel I5-2500K
    Asus P8Z68V-Gen 3 mobo
    8Gb Corsair DDR3 1800 mem
