5700 Dot, E3 Power Cube, Thermal

Hi there. Im a new (happy?) buyer of a MSI 5700 TD-128. I dont know why, but my card seems not to monitor the GPU temp and FAN RPM, not even with the 3D Turbo Experience application from MSI. Is there a 3rd. party program to monitor these stuff? Or my card doesn´t really have temperature monitoring capabilities?
With that in mind, I don´t know if DOT functions (with the Commander level on, I don´t really see a difference in games). And another thing, what the heck is the E3 POWER CUBE FEATURE?!?! I don´t know what benefits has. I thing this feature only came for LatinAmerica products (Im from Argentina), as the most MSI 5700 TD-128 I know, are MS-8948, and my MSI is MS-8958. Hope someone can help..!! PLEASE!!! And another thing, the games seem to "hang up" during gameplay, it´s not a matter of low framerates or anything related to very high graphics details, what could it be?
THANKS FOR ANY ANSWER..!!! ALL ARE WELCOMED..!!!

Thanks for the link to the E3 Power Cube description. The only concern it's left on me is the hanging during gameplay, and the thermal monitoring. Let me explain the "hanging", as by "hanging" i mean little freezees during gameplay, but i still keep on playing, you see? I DO NOT have to reset the computer. This hangings are very anoying as they're lots of it during gameplay, most of them i get while i play NFS Underground. TOO much graphics data to manage, who knows? I'll try what i read on another post, try to disable the Fast Write capability.
And thermal monitoring? Why the heck do i have de DOT feature if i dont have thermal monitoring? Or is it a technic to analize the graphics data and load of the GPU to raise or lower the MHZ instead of using the degrees of heat on the GPU to do that?
Thanks...!!!

  • Won't power up -- 17" MacBook Pro Early 2008 2.5GHz MB166LL/A MacBookPro4,1 Apple Model #A1261

I have a 17" MacBook Pro Early 2008 2.5GHz MB166LL/A MacBookPro4,1 Apple Model #A1261. I bought this used last year, and installed one of OWC's 1TB 2.5" Hybrid HD/SSD drives in it last January. No problems whatsoever until the past 2 weeks, when I started having intermittent black screens (NOT display sleep) -- sometimes the black screen would disappear by itself, sometimes I had to (Power button) shut down, and when I restarted, everything was OK. Until yesterday.
First let me note that, because I usually use the MacBook Pro in the same area in my house, I usually leave it plugged into the MagSafe power cube, and often just close the lid and put it to sleep, instead of going through start-up every time I need to access it. BTW, battery (NuPower) shows 5 solid green dots and does not seem to be a problem
Night before last, I shut down the MB Pro, and closed the lid. Yesterday, I opened up the MB Pro, and hit the power button. All I got was a brief, non-pulsing white light on the display-locking/“sleep light” button, and a sort of graunchy whisper from what sounded to me like the optical drive, NO screen activity whatsoever, and the “sleep light” went out within 3 or 4 seconds. Could hear NO HD spin-up sounds.
Tried everything I knew (not much), including disconnecting the MagSafe charger and removing the battery completely, letting it sit a few minutes, replacing battery and charger, and powering up. Same nothing, just another very brief whisper of activity from the optical drive. Being something of an “I’ll try anything, no matter how dumb it seems” idiot, I put a known, working, burned data CD-R in the optical drive. Removed the charger and battery again, waited, put everything back in. Tried to power up. Still nothing, same brief whisper from the optical drive, but the MB Pro would STILL not start up, the CD-R wouldn’t spin up OR eject, and I heard nothing from the hard drive, even with my ear ON the metal right over the drive.
My next “don’t-really-want-to-do-it” step is to remove the 1TB drive, replace it with the original 250GB drive, see if that works, and, as I have a “Newer Technology” Voyager S3 bare drive (works with both 2.5” and 3.5”) USB dock connected to my main Mac (a mid-2011 iMac, 2.7GHz Core i5, OS X 10.9.3), I’ll try using that to check the hybrid drive.
I’ve been a Mac-only user since 1989, and somehow this doesn’t seem like a drive problem. I’ve tried every OS X keyboard shortcut on the “OS X keyboard shortcuts” page, and the “sleep light” always comes on for a couple seconds, then goes out, the screen never even shows a flicker of life, and the HD NEVER spins up.
Can the forum please clue me in with any tricks I haven’t tried yet?
    Thanks
    Bart Brown

Thanks for the quick response. However, none of the following have worked:
Have you tried SMC and PRAM resets?
As usual, "sleep" light briefly illuminated -- 2-4 seconds -- then went out. No startup, no chime(s), no screen, no keyboard illumination, no HD spin-up.
Also try an Apple Hardware Test.
Same as above. Nada. "Mac NoteBook and Desktop computers shipping with OS X 10.7 or later have a partition on the hard drive or flash storage that contains AHT" -- since I can't get the drive to spin up, I can't access that partition... or anything else.
You may need the #2 installation disk.
Well, there I have TWO problems:
One is that I bought this MBPro on eBay, and received no disks -- it came with OS X 10.9.x installed (and is now at OS X 10.9.3). Is there any way to get “retail” install disks that will work with this MacBook Pro?
Second is that there's a data CD in the optical drive. Because the MBPro won't boot, I can't get the data CD out even if I had the 2nd Install DVD. Any way I can get this data CD out -- hatpin, barbecue skewer, fencing foil, sledgehammer?
I talked with OWC, from whom I bought the hybrid Seagate HDD/SSD 1TB drive last November. We tried a few ideas he had — mostly the same as those suggested by “Oglethorpe” (no relation to “Ogie” Oglethorpe in “Slapshot,” I hope!) — none of which worked, as I’ve already indicated above.
My last-ditch effort-of-desperation is to remove the hybrid Seagate HDD/SSD 1TB drive, and put in the original 250GB drive (never throw away a good drive!), and see if the MBPro returns from the dead. I will also put the hybrid Seagate HDD/SSD 1TB bare drive into my Newer Technologies Voyager S3 bare-drive dock, which takes 2.5” and 3.5” drives, and see if there’s a problem with the hybrid Seagate HDD/SSD 1TB drive. While no longer under warranty with OWC/MacSales, it IS still under a 2-year warranty with Seagate.
    Any other suggestions gladly entertained.
    Thanks again.

  • What are the normal operating temps for a G5 Quad Core Power Mac Tower?

I asked this within another thread but I am afraid it will get buried and think it deserves its own item.
I just downloaded Temperature Monitor and have been looking at the data. I have no idea how to interpret the figures and there are no listings of specified upper and lower limits even though there is an area where those numbers should go.
The numbers are constantly in flux, going up and down a degree or two but here is a recent example from a screenshot taken while I was running WORD (but not working on any document), Terminal, Apple Mail, Firefox (two windows open), Temperature Monitor, Preview, Dashboard and Finder:
    Air Tunnel 99.5 degrees F
Air Tunnel Heatsink 92.8 degrees F
    CPU A Core 1 Diode 107.5 degrees F
    CPU A Core 2 Diode 107.8 degrees F
    CPU B Core 1 Diode 108.0 degrees F
    CPU B Core 2 Diode 111.5 degrees F
    Drive Bay 87.8 degrees F
Graphics processor chip 131.0 degrees F
Main Logic Board Air Inlet --- (this is always missing)
Main Logic Board Backside 108.7 degrees F
Memory Controller Diode 133.9 degrees F
    SMART Disk WDC WD2500JS-41M.... 104.0 degrees F.
The icon for the program, in the dock, gives me an ever changing number that is perhaps an overall reading - an average. Right now the number is 106.4 degrees F (taken some minutes after the screenshot providing the above data). Always in flux.
Do any of these temps look alarming? And HOW and WHERE do I find out what the temperatures SHOULD be?
    PS I have APPLE RAM.

If you want to find out whether a sensor value is within normal limits, please select the menu item Window > Show Overview (or press Apple+1) and look for the limits in the third and fourth column of the sensor table. They contain the known official limits Apple has specified for readings acquired at the given sensor locations. If no limit is given in the table, this either means that it does not make sense to specify a limit for this particular sensor (e.g. the battery capacity should not have limits), or Apple hasn't published any specifications for this sensor.
Note that all up-to-date Macintosh models automatically shut down or enter sleep mode if one of the readings exceeds a critical limit. For this reason it is impossible that your computer can be damaged in an overtemperature condition.

Hello,  Currently we are seeing this issue with a couple of our Lenovo T420s laptops with a Solid State Drive.  ruffly about 10 or so.  The Reboots happen randomly and do not create a dump file.  We have contacted Lenovo and they are
not sure why its happening.  Since this Crash I set it for Minidump this did not work my next steps will be to Disable Automatic restart on System Failure to see if it brings anything up.  I am also looking at using Procmon to dump to a file as well.
If anyone has any other ideas please let me know.

    Thank you.

We have tested and checked both the Bios and firmware of the SSD Drive's
Bios was up to date and no issue
Firmware was also up to date as well.
Users are still experiencing random Reboots.   I tried to capture the issue with Procmon but since the PC shutdown (Goes to a black screen no power at all even when turning the "Automatically
restart" off under Startup and Recovery) No dmp files as of yet.  Unable to configure Procdump due to not knowing where the issue is and what is causing it to happen.
Going to replace one of the PC's with a New one with different hardware to see if this resolve the issue.  If anyone has any idea's to be able to capture what maybe happening that would
    be great.
    Thank you.

  • Hp 500-319NA I5 600w power supply suggestions

I am looking for a power supply that will fin into my case because I have just ordered a new graphics card(nvidia gtx 750 ti windforce) which need an extra 400 watts of power. I would love it if anyone could recommend any power supply's for my issue

Hi, If your PC is not using an external power cube (brick) then you have many choices. The Corsair CX600 would be an excellent choice for a power supply. Another good choice would be the Corsair CS650m.

  • Macbook 13" Pro Power consumption

I've emailed Apple about this, thought I should repeat here:
There is a nice page with the technical power and thermal data of the Mac Mini at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3468 , but I wasn't able to find something like this for the 13" and 15" pros, any chance we'll see them?
PS A web review said idle 13" was 14W, and they never went over 29W, but I doubt the MacBook overperforms Atom netbooks in power consumption. Running prime95 and a nice graphical app should do the trick

I don't think they are available for the mid-June models yet. Here are the environmental reports for the 15" Late 2008 MacBook Pro and the 13" Late 2008 MacBook.
The power consumption of the current 15" MBP should be similar to the previous 15" MBP, and the power consumption of the current 13" MBP should be similar to the previous 13" MB.

  • Creative MediaSource/Zen Xtra/Vista Is

    I have had?a Zen Xtra for a couple of years, I recently got a new computer which has Vista Installed. After going through the nutroll that was downloading MediaSource for Vista and updating the firmware to be Play-for-sure, etc... everything seemed to work together. Except for one issue that I cannot figure out;
When I operated on Windows XP and I linked my Player to the computer I would see all my songs listed on the screen. Now on Vista I see folders of the albums as opposed to all the tracks listed. This is making creating playlists much harder, searches slower and general management of 6400 songs more difficult than it should be.
There has to be a way to be able to see all the tracks listed without folders, I am sure I am not the first. Has anyone here cracked the code on this yet?
Thanks for any help I can get.

To get it working with Vista you need to update the firmware to the latest ( last ?) version or one that starts with a number 2.something.
    to do this you need:
    a P.C running windows XP
and on that XP PC you MUST make sure that:
you have removed/rolled back windows media player
removed/rolled back windows media player runtime
even if you dont think any parts of WMP are there, check in add/remove programmes.
before starting the firmware update make sure that the battery is fully charged and the player is conecte dot the power suply/mains charger.

  • 9971 registred/unregtistred with KEM - CUCM 8.6.2

    Hello,
I have little problem with 9971+KEM. 9971 with no attached KEM works fine - 3 Line's + 3 BLF. If I connect KEM to phone (configure Phone button template, add KEM in CUCM to phone, set Subscribe CSS) phone also works fine. If I only add 1 or 2 BLF to KEM, phone starts re-registering to: secondary CUCM, then to SRST Gateway, then to Primmary CUCM, then to ... etc. and all BLF's on phone and KEM change to SD buttons icon. Firmware is 9.3.4.24. CUCM version is 8.6.2. I use power cube 4 (48Watts).
    Thanks for any help.
Phone + KEM and configured only with Speed Dial buttons also works fine.

Surprisingly, it has made it all the way to 10.5(x) with the same info and the same error...
I did found a method to change it via root access, and you might not require root access, but I can't tell for sure as I would need to look at exactly what the contents of the file that TAC changes, but apparently it's just the platformConfig.xml that they need to change and reboot.
If that's the case, using the utils import config using pretty much all the same info, except the country, would end up with the same outcome.
Again, not 100% sure but theory says that should do the trick, you can run that thru TAC if you open the case and see what they think about it.

  • Why won't iPad1 show up as a Device in iTunes when the iPad is Wi-Fi and powered up?

iPad1 is properly designated to be Wi-Fi sync'd to the Windows 7 64.
iPad correctly shows Device in iTunes; and correctly sync's in iTunes when tethered to computer via USB.
No Device listed  in iTunes when iPad is on and powered by 10w power cube.
    Network connects.
    iCloud backup works when Wi-Fi.
iPad USED to be visible to iTunes when on and powered and on Wi-Fi.
    Some anti-miracle occured.
    Need exorcist.

Thank you for your reply; however I don't believe that your advice fits my circumstance - in that my device (in this case, the iPad) DID show up as a Device in iTunes last week - when connected via Wi-Fi (that is, powered up and on the home network and with iTunes open in the Windows 7 computer).
I was then able to communicate (read: sync) between the iPad and the computer NOT using the USB cable-connect to the computer - merely via Wi-Fi.
I can not repeat that miracle this week (meaning, that I must hook up the iPad1 to the computer via the USB cable, where it does register as a Device in iTunes - and it does go thru the 6 steps of sync.
Did I grossly missinterpret your instructions?
Thank you, in advance, for any additional assistance.

Hye.  I try to do a easy scriptlogic  but I get error.
I have an input report witth  3 accounts (5700,5710,5720) as lines and 2009.JUN and 2009.JUL as columns.
I introduce data in month 2009.JUL in input report  and I use LOOKUP in a Script Logic Default in order to get the data  of 2009.JUN for each account from other cube "FINANCE".
    The default code is:
    *LOOKUP FINANCE
         *DIM ACCOUNT="%ACCOUNT_SET%"
         *DIM CATEGORY="BUDGET"
         *DIM JUN:TIME="2009.JUN"

I want to make a LOOKUP for each account (5700, 5710, 5720) to Cube FINANCE but  when I push "Send Data" I get the next error: "Error running default logic (Member "5700,5710,5720" not exist"".
I think that the LOOKUP considers that  DIM ACCOUNT is "5700,5710,5720" all together,  so I get an errror.
    How can I do it?

Thanks Seldon but It doesn´t  work.
I validate default script with your code  and I get an error:  Multi LOOKUP in the same cube not allowed.

  • IMac 2012 Electric specifications

    Hi,
I'm looking for the right UPS to supply to 5 iMac 21", 1 time capsule, 1T external HD. Neighter I could find the VA electrical specifications for the new iMac 21". Can u help me?
    thanx

Apple has not apparently released the power consumption values for the Late 2012 iMac 21.5" models yet, but below are the values for the Late 2011 21.5 model:
    iMac (Late 2011)
    iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2011)
    21.5-inch display, 3.1GHz Intel Core i3, 2GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x2GB, 250GB Serial ATA hard drive, AMD Radeon HD 6750M graphics
    Power Consumption
    Thermal Output
    Idle
    CPU Max
    Idle
    CPU Max
    80 W
    101 W
    273 BTU/h
    345 BTU/h
So your UPS would have to be able to provide roughly up to 101 Watts continuously for the iMac alone.

Maybe you are looking for
