5700 Firmware. Where?

Anyway i just want to know when latest firmware will be available???it too long for 5700 user to wait..

This link is meant for user to know if any new firmware has arrived. If you don't find any then it means the one you have is the latest.
You can also check using Nokia software updator. It will show you the current software in your phone and, if any new software is available.

Firmware: where is it?

I was instructed by an Applecare rep that in order to alleviate my MPB from crashnig whenever I play World of Warcraft, I should install the latest firmware for the video card. He told me where th download page was and to search for Radeon x1600 firmware... but nothing is coming up. Where do I find this?

I've done EVERYTHING!!! This has been going on for 3 years now so I've had plenty of time to try everything. It should be noted that this crash is a common occurrence with people who use programs that push the limits of the card. More specifically, it actually is causing the PCI Express to go dead until reboot. I checked my system monitor for the time that it crashes and each time it says something about Failed to correct PCI Express. I didn't realize my internet was going out until I started playing in windowed mode; when in full screen, I can't do anything but power down. In windowed though, the audio becomes choppy for a couple of seconds while the computer locks up. when it recovers the internet connection lost until I reboot. Here's what I have tried:
1) Repair permissions
2) Deleting all cached game preference folders (this use to work but no longer does).
3) Monitored system temp at the time of crash with smcfanControl. temps range from 70-80 at the time of crash. Apple intentionally sets their notebooks to "crash" as a security measure if the temps exceed 175.. but this is clearly not that case, unless the heat sensor is malfunctioning.
4) Uninstalled and reinstalled the game Vanilla (no mods or ad ons)
5) Tested my ram with memtest... did 5 passes all of which were successful.
6) Booted off the install disk to bring up the hardware testing utility. The disk was verified as having no errors.
7) Ran Verify Disk which found a unrepairable Node problem.
8) Reformatted, repartitioned and reinstalled Mac OSX Tiger from scratch.
As an update, I contacted Apple and they agree that it sounds like a hardware issue so I'm sending it in (provided I do have the latest firmware; I'll check when I get home).
My only fear is that it might not necessarily be a hardware issue, but more of a design flaw on Apple's part. I had experienced the "exploding battery" where the battery bulges out and stops working. I wonder if when it gets hot, the battery isn't slowly getting thicker and thicker and pushing up against the guts of the notebook. This would explain why the problem gets worse over time.
I'm wondering if anyone has the same MBP I do, plays WoW and DOESN'T experience what I do. The majority of people who complain about this on the Blizzard boards have Intel Core Duos.. most of whom own MBPs.

1.2 firmware, where are you Apple?

Apple I am sure that you are more that aware of the problems of firmeware rev. 1.2. Are these problems that those of us are having fixable? Or is this a hardware problem and you are trying to wait until the one year warranty is gone to inform us?
To the others I have noticed that if I disable the EQ the iPod does not hang. I still get screen artifacts sometimes.

Yes I am very aware that the warranty period will be different based on your date of purchase. My point being that this problem has not been fixed, and since a lot of the new content on itunes has to have the 1.2 firmware to operate apple needs to fix this.
As far as you not haveing any problems, you are lucky. But that does not in anyway help those that have had to deal with these problems.

I have some suggestions for next 5700 firmware. I bought this phone today and this is a superb device. but just two things disappointed me(ofcourse up to now!).
1-In the gallery when you mark several files and you choose to move them to a folder, just one of them moves there and the rest of selected files remain there unmarked!
thats very bad for this masterpiece!
2-another problem i had with this device is in the gallery, when you are in a folder and you want to move a file out of that, the gallery get closed strangely!

Firmware for 3Com Bluetooth PCMCIA card

I've just recieved my new 3com pcmcia bluetooth card (3CRWB6096). According to google it was supposed to work with Linux.
I think it will, but there's something about needing the windows firmware file- BT3CPCC.bin. I have said file, and have tried putting it in both /etc/bluetooth/firmware and /lib/firmware (where the community package bluez-firmware puts similar files for other cards).
However, I'm still getting the following in dmesg on plugging the card in...

bt3c_interrupt: Call of irq 4 for unknown device

Some progress...
Oh I'm stupid. It turned out that I hadn't properly extracted the firmware, and that the file was actually empty. Once I managed to get the file out of the package, I put it in /lib/firmware/BT3CPCC.bin and it now loads it. However, hciconfig reports the device as having the address 00:00:00:00:00, and times out when trying to start or reset it.
I found someone with a Debian laptop and bluez installed at a recent LUG meeting. It worked! So now I know that it's possible. I then downloaded debian and installed in on a spare partition. After finally realising that I hadn't upgraded to a 2.6 kernel, I got my card working there as well. That's with bluez 2.15 and a patched kernel 2.6.8, which is quite a lot older than Arch's packages (I"m especially surprised at the kernel version).
So, where can I get hold of Arch packages for bluez 2.x?

Bad Performance - 4.12E Firmware on 33x0 arrays

Any thoughts?! We just bought two StorEdge 3320, dual controller, 512MB cache each, to replace some 3rd party Ultra160 arrays. These things write 3x slower then the arrays we are trying to replace. Is this possible? So far from Sun Solutions, thier recommendation was to remove the secondary controller since cache mirroring affects a performance. When I did that it did help write speeds but not ready to believe these things are slower then the ones we are replacing with half the throughput and half the caching memory. Just trying to get some insight to maybe help me improve it if it can.

Have you shared the array between two hosts?
Also, there is a known issue with that firmware where performance is degraded by around 10 to 15% over previous versions. It is supposed to make your data safer..
Have you noticed that it takes ages to remove losts of files from the array?
The problem with these things is that are very configurable and some of the options may be incorrectly set. If Sun installed them, the EIS methodology may have corrected some of the issues.

Downgrading firmware on WRT54G/access restrictions

I had a WRT54G. Access restrictions worked. I upgraded the firmware and the access restrictions no longer worked.
So after researching, it appears the firmware I upgraded to was buggy and the access restrictions didn't work with the new firmware. I couldn't figure out how to downgrade back to what I had.
Called Linksys and ultimately they said they would send a new router. I asked if it would have the old firmware that my router had previously, where the access restrictions worked. Yes, they said.
New router arrives today. Firmware is v1.02.2, June 7, 2007. NOT the prior firmware. Sure enough, the access restrictions still do not work on this router either. I don't want to spend yet another two weeks trying to resolve this with Linksys.
Question: Is there a way to downgrade to firmware where the access restrictions actually work for WRT54G? If so,
what version should I downgrade to?
where do I obtain it? and
can I download the firmware and then install it using the administration/upgrade firmware tab on the router (even though it is a downgrade)?

Thanks for the suggestion, Badboy. Unfortunately, although I could download the firmware and successfully load it onto the router, the access restrictions in that version do not work either.
It doesn't seem as though all prior versions of firmware are on the ftp site, ftp.linksys.com. For example, I also have a wrt54gs v. 4 (speedbooster) with the same access restriction problem. It currently has a firmware version loaded that doesn't appear to be listed on that website. (I couldn't download prior firmware for that version that worked.) So, perhaps prior firmware exists for the wrt54g v. 6 that is not listed on that site also.
Does anyone know if there is another site that has a more extensive collection of prior linksys firmware?
If not, I suppose I can call linksys again, but even if they send yet another router promising the old firmware on it, I suspect the message is just going to get lost between the promise made on the phone and the guy in the warehouse filling the RMA order.

WRT300N V2 and 2.00.18 firmware

Strange, for a while WRT300N V2 2.00.18 source code is available on
the GPL code center but isn't general available as a firmware download.

Hopefully this 2.00.18 will solve these intermittent dropouts when used
with a wmp300n. Very annoying, tried every setting and found out that without
the linksys connection app the connection is much more stable. I now use the
windows XP wireless connection utils to connect. But even with all the M$ WPA/Wifi
fixpacks installed there are intermittent dropouts, but fewer.
Please linksys, those wrt300n users out there need some after support!

k tried every driver out there for the Atheros AR5008. Results are
linksys(install cd),6.0.0.160,fails frequently, had to cold boot system to activate wireless again.
Artheros,6.0.0.197,fails frequently, had to cold boot system to activate wireless again.
Belkin,6.0.1.4,fails less frequently, had to cold boot system to activate wireless again.
Artheros,6.0.2.75,WHQL signed !, freezes so now and fails frequently, had to cold boot system to activate wireless again.
Linksys,6.0.2.9,Also known as STA_WMP300N_EU_1.0.0.15_20061016, fails frequently, had to cold boot system to activate wireless again.
I prefer the belkin ar5416.sys now over the others, but imho I think there is a serious flaw in the driver or hardware. It could be my pci card failing but reading the stories here I still have to find one who haven't had any issues with it.
And I see there is now a new chipset on the market the ar5008x, is this
a new design solving te issues the ar5008 had ?
Lot's of conjecture but i think it's time to send the wmp300n back to where it belongs, on the shelves @ linksys :-)

N93 firmware???

It seems that Nokia has definitively forgotten about N93! I'm still waiting for new frimware that will fix some of the bugs that i found in the last on 20.0.058-or something...
For example, when i record video, wich works fine when in automatic mode, and if i put it in night mode it shows only black&white colors!!!??? What is that about??? The phone that is supposed to be all about video, optical zoom and everything, can not work properly in night mode video recording... This bugs me alot. And this is not only bug, also sometimes, it just stops responding when i'm trying to call someone. I keep pushing the "green" button, but, nothing. Are there people, N93 users, who are experiening the same things??? So, NOKIA, PLEASE GIVE AS ANOTHER FIRMWARE, WHERE THESE BUGS WILL BE FIXED, so we can continue using N93 and the other phones untill the rest of our lifes... (just joking )) But really, i think we deserved that much...

Yes, but i think that ngage was released for n95 after they released a new frimware for this device, so i'm thinking, maybe that's a hold in releasing ngage for n93???!!! Nevertheless, what you wrote is true, n93 users seem like excluded gruop of people, but the phone was really expensive, and we did buy it, so really, we do deserve to be treated like the rest of nokia users. I know that this is probably just "blowing in the wind", but i can't help hoping that maybe they will hear us and finaly release a NEW FIRMWARE for the n93... I really don't want to change the n93 because of the camera, optical zoom and all, it's a really great phone. But still, i'm having idiotic problems with it, the ones i wrote about in the begining, and i really don't know why is it such a problem fixing these bugs and releasing new firmware... ??!!!

WRT150N Firmware Downgrade?

I received the WRT150N not even a week ago, and decided a few days after receiving it to upgrade the firmware to the latest (1.01.9) version. The original firmware (1.00.5) was absolutely rock-solid. It went for a couple of days straight w/ heavy amounts of traffic. But when I upgraded to 1.01.9, it takes only a few hours for the router to crash. Does anybody have the original firmware for download somewhere? I've searched for two days now and can't find anything, and I really would like to go back to the original. I can't have this router randomly dropping out on me. Thanks

well not quiet sure about older firmware where would you get it...anyways try resetting the router back to factory default settings...and try reducing the MTU values to 1365 on the router...see whether it helps or not.

97 Firmware uppdate problems

Hi all,
I have a N97 wich i have uppdated to the latest Eu Firmware uppdate, Now the problem is that i Reinstaled the firmware with same version cause my phone where going slow du to lots of program installnings!
So i úppdated the phone, But my Programs where still there after the firmware uppdate!
So i Hard resteted the phone by pressing *#7370# and it did a hard restet!
Now the problem is that my phone where still crashing a lot after the instaltion, Without installing any additional software it was verey unstable! so i did a new Reinstalation again! But But This time it did not Download the Firmware, it did the instalation directly, (The firmware where downloaded the first time by the nokia software uppdater)
I Thought the Firmware where then downloaded to my pc, so i did the Re instalation in a nother Pc!
But But The Firmware seems to be on the phone ..
So The Nokia Software uppdater Downloads the firmware to the phone, Then it installs it from there. I think there is some thing wrong with my firmware wich it installs it from!
But i cant Get a Clean Instalation
Any Tips How to Do A Factory Instalation ? 100% Clean ! ???

Not able to connect to Internet (Safari pre-set websites, YouTube, i-Tunes)

I am not able to connect to the internet, even though it appears I'm getting wireless on the iTouch. Have read numerous threads, nothing I have done has worked (tying to match my iTouch wireless settings to my Windows laptop settings, restarting router multiple times, choosing other under networks and trying to reset up my router config, trying to connect to IP using http://192.168.1.1 and/or http://192.168.1.1).
So get message "Cannot Connect to iTunes store", "Cannot connect to YouTube", and "Safari can't open the page because it can't find the server".
On my wirless settings (note my router is a Netgear DG834GB and works fine on both Windows based laptops in our home):
- My home network is checked;
- Under DCHP, BootIP, and Static all fields BUT router, search domains, client ID are checked.
- HTTP proxy is currently set to Auto with URL blank.
Apologies, been trying to read through threads to find the answer that will get me going, but either haven't found it yet or things like installing firmware (where do I install it, on my laptop or itouch, etc?) I don't understand what exactly needs to be done to do that.

DVD drive does not burn the DVD but prompts the mysterious 0x8002006D error

I read the earlier threads about the mysterious 0x8002006D error.
Then went to look at the console and the DiskRecording log reads:
Finder: Burn sense: 3/73/03 Medium Error, Power calibration area error
Finder: Burn error: 0x8002006D The device failed to calibrate the laser power level for this media.
Can anyone tell what this could mean? Is the drive old and tired? I have the latest possible update for this Powerbook G4 1,25 GHz that I can use. What is meant by the latest firmware - where can I check which is the latest firmware for this particular DVD/CD superdrive ...
I am not trying to use the impossible, the G4 only supports DVD-R and with the speed up to 2x, so it is getting difficult to find suitable DVDs for this. The better MacBook is being serviced, as it has a screen problem, only after 1 year of use!
Please, can anyone help me, my works do not make any progres and I am in trouble!

Actually, I found out that for this particular PowerBook model there is no further firmware upgrade for the SuperDrive, only for the models starting from 1.5 GHz. Obviously all I can do is downgrade my OS to the version, which I suspect was the one that still supported my SuperDrive to see, whether it is the Drive that has died or whether it is the conflict with the upgrades and the hardware.

Gigabit internet with Time Capsule

Need help, can not resolve it, google says nothing)
- I have previous generation Time Capsule (white and flat, don't know how to define it more clearly)
-I have gigabit internet connection
-when Time Capsule is configured to BRIDGE mode, all is Ok. Tests say I have 700-800 mbps connection. So, there is no problem with connection,
no problem with hardware or cables.
-when I configure TC to work as router (DHCP+NAT) connection speed slows to 200 mbps.
All this with WiFi off, only iMac (late 2012) connected toTime Capsule with cable.
Any ideas?

200Mbps seems a bit slow for a Gen3.. but it is getting old, and the actual setup of the NAT matters. As well as any degradation of the ethernet which tends to be one of the first things affected on Gen 3.
Actually, I can buy new one, if I were sure it solves the problem.
No it won't fix it.. as I said the new Gen5 TC is worse due to using a slower processor.. and Apple have not turned on hardware NAT. The same chipset used in say Asus achieves much higher results by using a built in speed up in the chip. Apple do not use the broadcom drivers because they use NETBSD firmware whereas everybody else uses Linux.
And in bridge mode I have full speed, in specs there say: "One Gigabit Ethernet WAN port for connecting a DSL or cable modem"
The fact that it has gigabit WAN is what is allowing you to get 200Mbps and not 90Mbps which is about the limit of 100mbit ethernet. But that is irrelevant to the speed reduction you get.. which is caused by the slowness of NAT processing. A router needs a very powerful processor to handle 1GB connection. Like a build your own PC with at least 3ghz i5 and maybe i7 running PFSense or similar router OS.

To simply get over 500Mbps throughput you need 3ghz processor. The TC is not even in the ballpark.
Without hardware speedup, the processor has to inspect every packet for NAT connection information at the very least.. if there is anything else happening in the router, QoS, Firewall etc they all make higher demands of the processor.. Apple routers of course don't have any of those things.. but you are still forced to handle the outgoing stream which might be half the speed of the incoming. Albeit much smaller packets.

You can see the tests for Airport Extreme which are the same as the TC. The Gen 4 is equal to the Gen5 AE.. and it achieved 430Mbps..The Gen4 AE which is equivalent to your Gen3 TC achieved 420, so, slightly less. The new AC version has a slower processor only managed 325Mbps.
The speed with the TC in bridge is fine.. it is then a switch... no router load at all.
