5800/5530-Date in Home Screen is displayed only if...

It would be a good idea that the Nokia developers modify the firmware to Date and Selected Profile are "always displayed" on Home Screen.
Bye

Should be automatic.
Try an iPhone reset if you haven't already done so, which is done by pressing and holding the home button and the sleep/wake or on/off button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo and then release - ignoring the slide to turn off prompt when doing so.

  • 5800 XM: Problem with Home Screen

    Hi People,
This is the problem I have and any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
Well, the problem is on the home screen (desktop) of my phone none of the icons are working. When I select the "Shortcuts Bar" as the homescreen theme, the phone does not display any of the shortcuts on the home screen. When I touch the locations where the shortcuts would be (on the homescreen) I can see the hit area getting highlighted, but nothing happens (also none of the shortcut icons are shown either).
Further, the "phonebook" and the "dialler" icons at the botton of the screen don't work either, when I "touch" them (atleast the two icons can be seen here, but nothing happens), plus pressing the "green" hardkey does not bring up the dialler screen as well.
I tried everything I could think of, such as stripping out all themes and even tried a facotry reset, but none of these did any good.
Everything else works fine on the phone (including the contacts bar on the home screen) and the phone has 40+ mb free (C drive). So, I'm pretty much clueless as to what might be wrong here.
Greatly appreciate anyone's help on this.
    Thanks,
    Gehan

the last option might be a way to go since you can't even acess dialer. it is not recommended for all things but in those cases it might wrok for you also read carefully
With all these operations I recommend you TAKE OUT MEMORY CARD and DO A BACK UP OF YOUR STUFF!!!
NOTE: In front of the hash key ( #) there is also a STAR key that people often miss and state that the code does not work.
1.. *#7780# - Restore factory settings - resets all the settings to the default ( you will not lose any data) Make sure you back up your data as you will lose all of it when you perform option 2 or 3 on this list. The default code for ALL operations listed here is 12345.
2.*#7370# - Reformat your phone (out of the box, tho keep in mind that most newer nokia phones at least n series, e series and s60 based phones have udp - user data preservation so not ALL data may be lost. still it is a good idea to always do a back up of your stuff.)3. This you perform as a last resort. Nothing else is working. If the phone is not showing any activity, proceed with hard formatting , turn off your phone, hold the following buttons while pressing the power button. (the default code is 12345)
    3. hard reset - hold the following buttons * (star key), 3 (number button) and talk/green key. turn on the phone and do not release those buttons until you see the Nokia boot up screen. once you feel the phone power up you can let go off the power button while still holding all three buttons ( for Nokia 5800XM - use the following buttons to do a hard reset, /GREEN/RED/CAMERA keys pressed all at once on power up. this will only work on 5800's that have firmware version 20... and up. ) For Nokia N97 (unofficial version but works) is SHIFT /SPACE BAR / BACKSPACE while holding the power button. Again do not let go until you see the handshake screen.
If these codes are not working the only thing for you to do is contact your Nokia Care Center/Service for assistance.

  • How to get the Day of the Month and Date on Home Screen

The home screen has the signal strength on the upper left, the time in the middle and the battery status on the right. What is missing from my old phone (really, really old phone) is the day - like Sunday, and the date - like the 20th. I have to go to a calendar program to get what should be available at a glance, just like the time.
    Can this be done?
    aehaas

If you put the Apple calendar app on the first screen, it shows the day and date (no month/year). E.g Sunday 20.

  • Home screen not displaying right

PLEASE HELP ME!!! My documents on my home screen are scattered around and I can't move them back to the place I want them! Whenever I try they just move back to the place before!

Take these steps if the cursor changes from an arrow to a white "prohibited" symbol when you try to move an icon on the Desktop.
Sometimes the problem may be solved just by logging out or restarting the computer. Try that first, if you haven't already done it. Otherwise, continue.
Select the icon of your home folder (a house) in the sidebar of a Finder window and open it. The Desktop folder is one of the subfolders. Select it and open the Info window. In the General section of the window, the Kind will be either Folder  or something else, such as Anything.
If the Kind is Folder, uncheck the box marked Locked. Close the Info window and test.
If the Kind is not Folder, make sure the Locked box is not checked and that you have Read & Write privileges in the  Sharing & Permissions section. Then close the Info window and do as follows.
Back up all data before continuing.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    xattr -d com.apple.FinderInfo Desktop
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing command-V. You should get a new line ending in a dollar sign ($). Quit Terminal.
    Relaunch the Finder.
If the problem is now resolved, and if you use iPhoto, continue.
Quit iPhoto if it's running. Launch it while holding down the option key. It will prompt you to select a library. Choose the one you want to use (not the Desktop folder.)

  • E63 Current Date on Home Screen

E63-1, 410.21.010 Nokia programmers, please enhance the home screen (I use Active home screen) by providing current date below the current time. Currently, the space below the current time is blank. It would be useful if I can see: --------------- Current Time. Current Day. Current Date-Month. Current Year. --------------- This should be in relatively big font. It would be useful if we use profiles other than the General profile. Thank you.

My ipod touch is stuck on the home screen, will not respond. Displays a gray background with the ipod logo, sliders are unresponsive. Bottom slider displays many different languages, none of them english. Maybe a virus or malware?? Restoring with itunes does not work, neither does holding down the home/sleep buttons to reset.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Why is my Itunes home screen not displaying properly?

As you can see, certain text areas don't display properly. I have Windows 7, and I've played with the resolution (from max to min, including doing computer restarts), I have reinstalled Itunes, my graphics card driver, updated windows with all updates (including the optional ones), and changed font size etc.. from within Itunes. At one point I was very computer literate, but I can't seem to figure this one out. Any ideas?
I also ran a full scan by norton antivirus, nothing was found. Any ideas? This is also a bad time to have to deal with this, as my iphone just crashed and lost all of its memory, but I have trouble selecting what music/apps etc I need to restore it. Even the restore screen is too messed up to use.
    Thanks for any help!

I found another thread that suggests I need a resolution greater than 1024 by 768, but I'm currently running at 1600 by 1200. I am using our bigscreen (~60") as we don't have a computer monitor. This is a family computer, so maybe someone changed a setting that I wasn't aware of? I don't think Itunes was like this at the beginning, but I can't pinpoint when the screen actually started to look like this.
Also, where else can I go for help, without paying for it? (I have trouble paying for help with a free application, especially after buying a large number of apple products)
    Thanks again!

    You are welcome.
The entire article is well worth a read as well as the 5800xm's review on that site.
Please do read through some of the other threads on the forum. I have bought one myself and had to send it to the SC to repair the headset speaker due to the 'well known' volume problem. Other than that, it's well worth every sen I spent.

  • IPhone Home Screen Lock Display

Hey guys can someone tell me how can I do this thing on my iphone4? I just saw her lock screen looked like this. When someone texted him the name and message pops up along with the time and the senders picture on the side. Please please please tell me?

I've never seen this before.  I don't believe there is a legitimate way to do that on the iPhone.

  • N8 home screen- profile box displaying area code r...

Hi,  I have no idea how this happened or how to correct it. I visited American recently (not sure if relevant, but thought it best to include all info), whilst over there the profile display box on my N8 home screen started displaying the area dial code of whatever area I was currently in. I assumed this had something to do with roaming, I did try turning my phone on and off in case it was a weird glitch, but the issue remained. Upon returning back home to the UK the issue is still with me.
When I unlock the phone the profile display correctly displays the selected profile (e.g silent, general, offline etc), but within a few seconds switches to showing the dial code of the area I happen to be in. I know this isn't a massive issue, but I do find it more useful to know which profile my phone is in rather than the dial code for landlines in any given area. As a general rule, I don't just randomly call landline numbers of people I don't know just because I happen to be in the area, which as far as I can tell, would be the only situation in which this info would be useful.
I have tried googling the issue but couldn't find anything. Am really hoping that I am just being stupid and this is quite easy to resolve, but I really couldn't think of how to do it.
    Thanks in advance.

    Happy to help
No need to apologise, the option doesn't give many clues to what it does. It's an old feature left over from the early days of phones that's irrelevant in many countries now, except for those that really need to know the area code (for calling costs etc).

  • 5800 v 30.0.011 + email on home screen

So. Yesterday i decided to update my phone and when i went on the net to look for a changelog many sites state that the phone gives info abt new emails on homescreen. So i just went on Thundrbird and sent an email for myself (from another account) to test. Thing is the email doesnt show up on the home screen. I only got the small icon on the top right near the battery indicator and the normal notification "1 email recieved" and the options Read / close. Any idea how to make i work?
If it helps the account i have set is Gmail using IMAP and i use my home Wireless connection to access it

  • Business Objects Explorer Information Space Home Screen Customization

Is it possible to customize the display of the list of Information Spaces on the Home screen of Business Objects Explorer such as to sort ascending or descending?  Now it's shown as the order when they were created.

Thanks for your response.  I'm looking for a way to make a setting change so when the home screen is displayed, the list of Information Spaces will be sorted without the user having to click it  Also, is there a way to change some of the default setting of top 10, etc.

  • Custom home screen icon for a webapp.. just like Google - How?

I noticed that when you add Google to your home screen it displays a custom icon.. not an image of the website like other sites. I am trying to figure out if there is a way to do this for my own webapps. I searched through the Google.com source code but didn't find anything that appeared to have anything to do with that icon.
Hopefully this is possible for developers. Right now most of my icons are all white and its hard to distinguish which is which without reading the text below it.

Found it on the iPhone web dev page..
iPhone and iPod touch allow a user to save a WebClip bookmark to your site on their Home Screen.
To specify a bookmark icon for all pages of a web site, place a PNG image named "apple-touch-icon.png" at the root directory of your web server - similar to the "favicon.ico" for site icons.
To override the site bookmark icon on a specific web page, insert a <link> element similar to <link rel="apple-touch-icon" href="/customIcon.png"/> within the <head> element of the page.
The bookmark icon dimensions should be 57x57 pixels. If the icon is a different size it will be scaled and cropped to fit.
Safari will automatically composite the icon with the standard "glassy" overlay so it looks like a built-in iPhone or iPod application.

    Hi,
AFAIK that's the usual way on all S60 phones (though I could be wrong on that for older phones).
The home screen shows the meeting for 1 hour. Then it shows either the next meeting or the text "No more entries today". compared to the text "No calendar entries today" if you do not have any meetings for this specific day.
BTW, you will probably not get any response from Nokia here as this is a user to user forum.
If you want to contact Nokia, press the "Contact us" button on the top right.
