5800 - add most used apps to home screen

Is there a way to do this?
Having recently returned from holiday, it would have been nice to have dictionary etc on the home screen

Menu > Settings > Personal > Home screen > Home screen theme
Select "Shortcuts bar"
You can then change the 4 shortcuts on-screen to whatever you want:
Menu > Settings > Personal > Home screen > Shortcuts.

  • How do I add actual email accounts to home screen-not just HUB?

How do I add actual email accounts to home screen-not just HUB? Can anyone give me the steps?

Essentially the Hub area is a home screen dedicated to your communication. Tap on the lower left icon and each of your messaging sections has its own dedicated 'icon.' As JC mentioned, it is new and it may take a while to get used to it.. but once you do it really is a great way to deal with the unified messaging idea and it also allows you to break down what you are looking at very quickly. Just need to learn a few new tricks.  I've been on the Z for just over 3 months now and I could never go back...

  • Wallpaper is flashing when exiting apps to Home Screen

My Wallpaper will go flashing whenever I exiting apps to go to Home Screen. Just thought the bug comes from enabling WiFi, but after disable wallpaper, the symptom still exist.

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
What type of wallpaper are you using? Is it a preloaded/live wallpaper? Is the wallpaper flashing several tiems? If not, I think the reason why it flashes is because some apps are using another resolution than the home screen. And when you exit an app, the home screen need to restore the right resolution.
You might seen the same thing happen on a PC when you tab out from a game or similar.

  • Can't add bookmarks - always sent to home screen.

I am having an odd issue with Safari. No matter which bookmark button I hit, "Add to Home" or "Add Bookmark", the option to add an icon to the home screen always comes up. I cannot add a bookmark to my bookmark list. I am running 3.1.2 and have had this issue since 3.0.
Does anyone know how to remedy this?

    1. Restart your phone: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until a red slider appears, and then drag the slider. Then press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
    2. Reset your phone: Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • Restore ovi store icon/app to home screen

    Hi,
I accidentally deleted the OVI STORE icon/shortcut  on one of my homescreen.
Is there a way to add the shortcut back to the home screen? Please advise.
I am aware that I can still access OVI STORE from the menu option but would prefer to use the shortcut app on my home screen.
    Thank You

Long press the widget you want to add ovi store to, select option edit, choose application, then scroll through your apps and select Ovi Store, it will then appear in the widget !
Assuming that you have a Symbian^3 phone as you have more then one homescreen !

  • Banner alert stopping launching apps from home screen

Whenever a banner alert appears from my home screen, it prevents me from going to open a different app. This is happened when using WhatsApp so I don't know if it's a third-party issue.
For example the banner alert is from WhatsApp, but I can't tap on the app itself, I have to tap on the banner alert. I try tapping on different apps and it won't let me.

You should tap on the banner and it will open the app. If you wait a moment, the banner will disappear, unless you have it set to Alert, which will require you to tap on the alert before you can do anything else. You might want to take a look at the User Guide, http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1565/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf  or this support document. iOS: Understanding notifications

  • App on Home screen

How can I put an App (Nokia Messaging) on my Home screen?

Sorry but I have to disagree with you there as the ability to set a shortcut is a phone feature, not the apps feature. It is covered in the user guide how to set shortcuts but you must have missed that page.
You also have to remember that the 5800 is a mid range media phone, not a phone aimed at business users like the E series models are. That is why it doesn't have the extra messaging features like the E series models do.
Perhaps you just choose the wrong phone for your needs? Research is important when choosing any phone from any manufacturer.

  • IPod/iPad opening to an app vs. home screen upon unlocking

Very annoying occurrence that I noticed only after updating to iOS 7:  When unlock (i.e., turn on from sleeping) my iPod (5th gen) and iPad (3rd gen), many times (not every time) it opens up an app I was recently using and I have to hit the home button 1-2 times to get it back to the home screen where the app icons are listed.  This is very annoying.  Any suggestions on how to solve this matter?  Shouldn't my home screen appear when typing in my code?  It always has until recently.  I've done resets on both the iPod and iPad but it continues.  I shouldn't have to close out apps running in the background everytime I put the device to sleep - never had to do this before.  Thanks.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Closing apps & deleting apps from Home Screen

Ackkk.  What the manual says will happen isn't what happens. I looked.  Honest. Thing is, I don't always want stuff to keep running in the background.  (E.g., listening to music.  I know I can hit the pause button to stop the song from playing, but I don't just want it paused.  I want it turned off.)  (Make any sense?)
Bought iPad 2 yesterday, upgraded to iOS 5.0 just fine, did the little ICloud installation just fine, downloaded the "iPad User Guide for IOS 5.0 Software" , and actually read the applicable parts. (I'would point out that the fact that I read the manual is probably because I'm a girl-person and not a boy-person, but that would be sexist.)  (So I won't point that out.)
Here are the manual instructions I'm having problems with:
Page 23: Force an app to close: Touch and hold the app icon until it begins to jiggle, then tap "-" (the manual has an illustration showing a little red circle with a minus sign)
Page 24: Deleting an app from the Home screen: Touch and hold the app icon until it begins to jiggle, and an "X" appears.  Tap X to delete the app ..." (the manual has an illustration showing a little red circle with an X)
MY PROBLEM: I touch and hold ANY app icon, every app icon on the whole screen begins to jiggle (entertaining, but not helpful ...)  And none of the cute little jiggling icons (including the one I'm holding) shows me any little red circle containing a minus sign OR any little red circle containing an "X" ...
On Page 25: Move an icon to another screen:  Drag an icon to the right edge of the screen until another screen appears (yadda yadda)".
MY PROBLEM: In the manual, it looks like they're dragging one of the standard Home Screen icons from the main home screen to a second screen.  I DID set up a second Home Screen just fine for other apps (Kindle, a game, etc.) but wanted to move some of the built-in icons to that second screen ... when I drag one to the right, it doesn't go off that screen.  (though all the icons start that cute litle jiggling thing.)  Am I stuck with all the icons on the main Home screen just staying there, or am I just not getting it?
Thank you thank you thank you thank you.
    Annette

To close an app you first need to open the taskbar by double-clicking the home button (the taskbar will then show at the bottom of the screen and the rest of the screen will 'fade'), and then press and hold one of the apps that show on the taskbar - you should then get the  symbol on those open/recently used apps.
To move apps you first need to press and hold one of the apps (on the homescreen not on the taskbar) so that they start to shake. Then drag the app (not too quickly) that you want to move and hold it so that it overhangs the edge of the screen - after a second or so the display should then change to the next screen and you can then place the app. You can also move apps via the Apps tab when connected to your computer's iTunes using the mini-screens that show on the tab.

  • After updating to IOS 7, I can't see my apps on home screen. Help!!

I have just updated my iPhone 5 to ios 7 and I can't see my apps on the home screen, I have to search them to get to them. Can someone please help it is driving me crazy!!!!

Whoa that would drive me crazy too!

    Restarting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
If it does, I would connect to iTunes, backup the phone and then restore it again.

  • Most useful app that hasn't been invented

i need a mac app that i can just open, type some text in it, close it, and that text is saved. maybe a button to close and save without a file name and a button to close and not save at all. that'd be the most simple and useful app on os x for me

    TextEdit.  Open, type, quit.

  • How do i organize apps on home screen?

I have 3 screens of apps is there a way i can organize the apps by moving some apps around to different screens? I know i can move them around on the same screen by holding down one of the apps and move them when they are wiggling on the screen but is there a way to a different page?

Yes, just move it to the edge of the screen and it will move to one of your other "Home" screens. This works for me anyway.

  • TS1702 Getting kicked off my app to home screen!

I am getting kicked off my Craigslist app to the home screen after only about 5min. I'm very frustrated and have done all the steps on the list. Any advise from someone who has solved this issue would really be appreciated.

    1. Close all apps in the Task Bar. Double-click the Home button and hold apps down for a second or two. Tap the minus sign to close app.
    2. Hold the Sleep and Home button down until you see the Apple Logo.
    3. Test Calendar again.

  • AppStore not letting me see my apps on home screen

Try swiping your home screen to the left to see if they're on the second page.

  • Enterprise replacement of app launcher / home screen?

Is there a way for schools and businesses to replace the iPad "app launcher" or "home screen" with a more functional alternative that is better suited for a multi-user environment?
For example, I want the home screen to be modified, to have a way for users to log on and authenticate with our Windows domain, to show who is currently logged on and what the domain name is above the app icons, as well as having a "Logoff" button to disconnect the user.
What needs to be done to accomplish this? Is this only possible through an "enterprise iOS developer" agreement for in-house app distribution?
